I tested again today, line much stronger - definitely pregnant! My sense of smell has increased, my boobs hurt and I'm utterly exhausted. No sickness, but I was never sick last time, just felt a bit queasy. No idea how much of it is real vs in my head! Any tips on a book to buy DP? It's his first time so would like him to gen up a bit.

Jodders · 29/06/2016 12:04

Hi everyone! Can I join in? Got this today....
First day of LMP was 29th May meaning I would be due 5th March. I'm a little confused by the 3+ to be honest. I think I ovulated on 10th June. I had what I think was implantation spotting on 16th. Been feeling so so sick. I had HG in past pregnancies but never this early. Been vomiting already.

Welcome Jodders and congrats! Wow 3 weeks + ! I guess you feeling pretty sick would align with the test result (an extra strong dose of hormones?!). How long is your cycle usually? My LMP was 26th May but my cycle has been averaging about 32 days so I think I'm due 6th March. is there any chance you could be further along than you think? And your LMP was actually implantation? is this your first?

Ilovetea82 · 29/06/2016 12:51

Hi
Having felt ill for the last few days I tested on Sunday (not due af until Friday) and it was negative but still felt sick so tested this morning at 5.30am!! Positive very excited!

DaisyBank82 · 29/06/2016 13:08

Ginintea my sense of smell has increased too! I had to put my daughter straight in the bath when I got home because I could smell the fish pie she had for tea at her childminder's! And I had to throw some stinky brie out yesterday too as I couldn't open the fridge with it inside (can't eat it anyway as it was unpasturised!).

SecretScaryFriend · 29/06/2016 13:13

NameChange30 is that Kate Evans the same author as The Food Of Love? Is it illustrated with cartoons but well referenced?
Maybe I'm thinking of something else.
Spotting stopped same day so I'm hopeful but I haven't retested as I know hgc lurks around for a while.
I'll try to wait until the weekend before I poas again.
In the meantime I have filled in my form for the dr to refer me straight to a mw. I think that can take up to 2 weeks so by then I'll need a booking in session pretty sharpish.

Jodders · 29/06/2016 13:21

Daisy this will be my third. Cycle usually 28/30 days. I was on holidays which is why I left it before testing. I don't think my LMP could have been implantation. I got a negative right before it started. Maybe the weeks indicator is wrong.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

alphabook · 29/06/2016 14:47

Congrats Jjspoon and Jodders!

I've heard that sometimes extra strong test results can be a sign of twins...!

NameChange30 · 29/06/2016 15:05

Daisy It was Oster's tone that bothered me, not the content or the arguments. I like her approach and her focus on evidence and data. I just didn't like the slightly patronising, superior tone of her writing. It's only a small niggle though and I still enjoyed the book and found it useful.

Secret Yes it's the same Kate Evans! I think she wrote "Food of Love" first (about breastfeeding) and then "Bump" (about conception, pregnancy and childbirth).

NameChange30 · 29/06/2016 15:09

I should add that Emily Oster is American and Kate Evans is British so that might have something to do with it... I could relate more easily to Kate Evans' tone/style.

Jjspoon · 29/06/2016 17:41

Just downloaded a sample of expecting better to my kindle so will check it out :) and I'll have a look at bump, thanks for recommendations.

I haven't even thought about telling my Dr at this stage was going to wait a few weeks. When will you all let them know?

NameChange30 · 29/06/2016 17:46

Jjspoon
I called my GP surgery to ask, and they made me an appointment to see the midwife, I will be 7 weeks (by my calculations) on the day of my appointment.

CatalinaFuckingWineMixer · 29/06/2016 17:51

jpspoon I rang my GPs yesterday (I'm 5 weeks) and the earliest they could get me in was the end of July, when I'll be just under 10 weeks, so I'd ring sooner rather than later if I were you.

neonrainbow · 29/06/2016 18:37

I went into my gps the other day and filled in a midwife form. The midwife is supposed to call me to arrange an appointment.

Mu51cal · 29/06/2016 18:39

Evening all - got my bfp about 30mins ago... This will be dc#2 and am absolutely terrified!?! It took us a couple of years to conceive dc1 (now 20 months) and this time it took one week!?! I'm probably over-thinking things, but am already feeling guilty for not being more excited - just fretting over the small things! Don't think it's sunk in yet...

alphabook · 29/06/2016 20:19

Congrats Mu51cal! I think mixed emotions are completely normal, I've been trying to get pregnant for years and I think I just felt numb at first when I got my BFP!

Sparrowlegs248 · 29/06/2016 20:35

Mu51cal I feel much the same way, took more than two years to conceive ds, on this occasion we dtd once the day after af and job done. Ds is 11months...... Shock I am having to stop myself thinking of how on earth it will work.

I need to call the Dr and book in with the midwife. I've changed surgeries since last time so not sure how they work it here.
Jodders the test will say 3+ because it's dated from your lmp, which is 3 + weeks ago. Sorry if that states the obvious.

Jodders · 29/06/2016 21:23

The 3+ is actually from date of conception you are meant to add two weeks on to it

Jodders · 29/06/2016 21:24

So if someone was 1-2 weeks they would really be 4 weeks PG.

Jjspoon · 29/06/2016 21:33

I'll give the drs a ring next week I think and see what they say, no idea what the procedure is round here and I think waiting times are different all around the country.

Jodders you're right they give you a result from conception, otherwise no one would get 1-2 weeks as you probably wouldn't have even ovulated yet 1 week after af let alone be producing the hormones to detect a pregnancy so maybe you ovulated slightly earlier than you thought? Or maybe you just have really high levels or its twins?!

I have no symptoms at all of being pregnant yet so I'm actually starting to worry and wish I did feel a bit nauseous (won't be saying that when I do lol)... at least it would feel a bit more real and I've read all these things about sickness being a good sign of a healthy pregnancy. I've literally got the BFP on cycle1 of trying after 12 years on the pill so I'm so paranoid that my cycles haven't settled down yet and my body might not be ready. Trying not to be too anxious though...

Sparrowlegs248 · 29/06/2016 22:04

Oh sorry, my mistake. I've not used one of those tests. I see your point then. Could you be mistaken about your ovulation date? I don't know when I ovulate but I do know we only dtd once the day after af! So must have ovd very early. I also had symptoms a week after dtd. How is that even possible?

neonrainbow · 29/06/2016 22:13

Im making the most of these days of feeling normal. I don't know what's coming in the future revelling in the fact that for now my body is still my own.

LulusMiniEgg · 29/06/2016 22:28

I'm running round like a mad woman trying to do all the things (write a book, write a magazine article, decorate DS bedroom, clean the house etc etc) before the dreaded exhaustion kicks in and I'm asleep at 7pm! I'm worried how hard it will be with a toddler in tow, arghhh!!!

Dustycorners · 29/06/2016 22:37

Congrats to all the new BFPs!

Secret glad your spotting has stopped. Mine only lasted for a couple of hours so I'm hoping maybe it was to do with implantation. I've been poas every morning (cheapies!) and they're gradually getting darker, so I feel a bit reassured. But as others have said, the first tri is a headfuck.

Daisy I commuted in London during my last pregnancy. I was so bloated that from about six weeks that I was being offered seats without the need for a badge! I started wearing one at about 16 weeks, but if I was still commuting on the tube this time round I would wear one whenever I needed to - I think they are really good for when you feel awful but no one would know you're pregnant. I know what you mean though about running into someone from work... I drive to work now though, so always guaranteed a seat Grin

Jodders · 29/06/2016 22:50

I'm feeling so sick. Been vomiting again. I don't think I could have ovulated early. It's all very confusing.
