Cho Where I am the booking in appointment is around 8 weeks, I called my GP surgery early on (I was 4+4) and booked directly with the midwife. I'm glad I called then because the appointments were already pretty booked up and there weren't loads.

charly I still think you should try and get your booking in appointment before you go on honeymoon, if you can.

Beauty Sorry for your losses. I really hope this pregnancy is a healthy and successful one x

Does anyone know if there is a March 17 baby bus group on Facebook yet?

Carolann8584 · 13/07/2016 09:19

Hi Ladies

On w4 d5 getting really bad stomach cramps, Ovia says Beany is setting up camp Smile how can I ease the pain? as all my PMS tricks aren't advised i.e. hot water bottle, hot bath and painkillers. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Carol xx

NameChange30 · 13/07/2016 09:38

Carol I have bad cramps too. Strangely they seem worse when I'm hungry, so eating something usually helps. I don't know what else I'm afraid - I just wait for them to subside.

NameChange30 · 13/07/2016 09:45

Light exercise might help? A gentle swim or walk?

Dozygirl · 13/07/2016 09:48

M90s... (u have a hard name to remember lol) I don't think there is but I think it's the kind of thing that's better to wait till after scan dates due to the nature of the first 12 weeks. I know I'd rather wait till then anyway.

Rosey135 · 13/07/2016 09:58

Just rang the midwife and they have asked me to ring back in two weeks to make my appointment for 9 weeks, now to play the waiting game ...... again!

Carolann8584 · 13/07/2016 09:59

Thanks NameChange30, Banana on the go now, Cramps are worse in the evening and I try not to eat too late so might try a few stretches and do a few minutes of my work out dvd Smile

For those of you having cramps, I had them for about 5 weeks with my first. I was obsessed with checking for spotting everytime I went for a wee as I waa convinced it was a mc but it was all fine, so I think cramps are quite normal!

neonrainbow · 13/07/2016 10:55

I'm thinking of going to the baby show in Olympia in October Has anyone been to something like that with previous children? Im imagining it to be like a wedding fair for babies. Ill be about 6 months by then.

Carolann8584 · 13/07/2016 10:57

Thanks Penguin Smile

Any advice on dying my hair? my roots are crazy at the minute, haven't seen my natural hair colour (dirty blonde) since I was 13. Is it safe to dye or should I start getting use to my lighter hair now Sad
x

NameChange30 · 13/07/2016 11:10

Thanks Penguin Smile

Neon I had no idea such a thing existed! I imagine it might be good if you were feeling up to it. When DH went to a small wedding fair we didn't enjoy it at all but maybe a baby fair would be different!

NameChange30 · 13/07/2016 11:11

Carol I don't think you're supposed to use chemical dyes but maybe natural ones would be ok?

AlaskanSnow · 13/07/2016 11:22

Gardencentregroupie I had my pointless GP appt today too.
Seems such a waste of resources as he printed out a form, I checked my details, he told me to take folic acid but not to waste my money on "pregnancy vitamins" and that was it!

When did people start getting sickness from? I'm a couple of weeks behind some of you, and I think it would be good to know when it can hit from - just so I can be prepared.

Also, is anyone else going to look into private scans/testing? My DH is pretty keen on the Harmony test.

I think I'd like to go to the Baby show - be good to look at different stuff. I fear my DH would hate it, even though really he would need to be there to look at stuff with me.

AlaskanSnow · 13/07/2016 11:23

Carol I need to dye my hair too - currently I have dark roots showing through blonde - not a good look!
I thought it was ok now, but you have to do a skin test as your sensitivity might have changed.

BridgetDoodle · 13/07/2016 11:28

The last 2 days I thought the end was nigh, the nausea was unreal and I didn't manage to eat much at all. Today I've woken up feeling weak (think lack of food) but so far no nausea! I've been eating ginger nuts and put travel sickness bands on me last night and haven't taken them. Maybe they're working? Yesterday all I wanted was for it to go away and today I'm panicking it's not here! Pregnancy is making me a paranoid wreck. Did anyone else have ups and downs with morning sickness? My family all seemed to have constant symptoms.

Carolann8584 · 13/07/2016 11:35

Thanks NameChange 30

Alaskan - After googling at lot! I've decided to get semi permanent foils on my roots, Dye doesn't touch your scalp with foils so very little chance there will be chemical intake plus using a semi perm its not as strong at perm. will help disguise my light roots Smile

SuperDuperJezebel · 13/07/2016 11:41

My hairdresser says these days it's fine to keep colouring your hair. I'm definitely going to!

PrincessIrene · 13/07/2016 11:51

I'm really struggling to eat, completely lost my appetite and if anything tastes remotely "off" it makes me want to vom! I've just had to chuck the wrap I have for lunch because it doesn't taste right. I only managed to eat a few chips last night and no breakfast this morning. It's odd because I'm usually ravenous in pregnancy. Absolutely knackered too! How is everyone feeling? Congrats to new BFPs!

charlybs · 13/07/2016 12:10

Thanks namechange but there's no way I can get that appt before honeymoon - the initial one isn't until a few days before I go and I was told I'm not going to get bumped up to more urgent appt! So just going to go with the flow.

Carolann I wouldn't be able to handle not dying my hair! It grows so fast and I have a lot of greys. So baby will have to deal... I don't think dye is as bad as it used to be.

Carolann8584 · 13/07/2016 12:47

Ok, next to dying my hair, I have Gel nails, I've goolged (my bible) and it says, not really safe to be around the chemicals and fumes? Any thoughts?

Smile x

Beckyloulou100 · 13/07/2016 13:01

Hi ladies. Im 5w today and I'm spotting very small amounts of light pink blood. Should I be worried? Xxx

PenguinTuxedo · 13/07/2016 13:08

Wow this thread moves fast - I can't keep up 🙈

Re hair dying, it's meant to be perfectly safe, but I think the recommendation is that foils are better than an all over colour. I only had mine done 2 weeks before my edd last time as I was so full of anxiety about everything, but I wouldn't worry this time around.

Re nails: I only had them done twice during pregnancy but my nail tech said as long as the room was well ventilated then it was fine.

Becky There's no way for us to say really. Spotting is quite common, and a healthy pregnancy can still continue, but it could also be a sign of something more worrying. It's probably all fine, but if you are concerned could you get to your local epu?

Carolann8584 · 13/07/2016 13:17

Thanks Ladies, reassured about my hair, will be getting foils as for my nails. The place I have been going for years isn't very big and only has the front door for ventilation no windows so think I won't be going for a while.

I don't mind the sacrifice for my little bean to be healthy Smile

PenguinTuxedo · 13/07/2016 13:27

Carol that sounds sensible. My nail tech worked from home so we had all the doors and windows open, I was freezing! Lol. But if the salon won't be well ventilated then it may not be worth the risk if there's acrylics being done in the same room etc.
