So was at the doctor this morning and totally forgot to ask if I should make an appointment with midwife before I left or will I get sent a card with an appointment on? Anyone know what the process is?

SpanielLedWeaning · 05/07/2016 10:10

Good luck Bridget hope your scan goes ok

Zenzie · 05/07/2016 11:06

Magic I hear you on the insomnia! I was awake at 5am today despite being ferociously tired last night.

Top tip - during my last pregnancy I went through a phase (probably late 1st trimester but TBH can't really remember) of waking up at around 4am and finding it impossible to get back to sleep. After a while I worked out I was famished (even though I didn't actually feel that hungry) so I began to get up as soon as I woke, eat a load of yoghurt, brush my teeth and fall straight back to sleep. Smile

ItsMagicYouKnow · 05/07/2016 11:21

So sorry Lake, I seem to have missed your post. I wanted to send good vibes your way and offer my heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your first child.

Zenzie I can't believe I've been awake since 3am more or less! Work excitement plus a surprise pregnancy is a deadly combo! I'm lucky I can have a little zzzz after lunch today. It's funny, I used to wake up in the 3rd tri. too around 4am, eat a bowl of cereal while surfing the net and then go back to bed until midday! Can't see that happening this time around though! [hands out matchsticks to anyone who needs them]

Sparrowlegs248 · 05/07/2016 14:56

Ds is up between 5+6 most days, as well as the night feeds. He doesnt wake up properly, but as we Co sleep from about 1am, he just rolls over and latches on. Or pokes at me to get a boob out. Think I need to put a stop to this! While I have found bf easy, and very convenient (can do it anytime, anywhere) there is NO WAY I am feeding two. Would quite like a break in between too. And tips welcome......

Happygojo86 · 05/07/2016 15:39

Nottalotta I'm still feeding my baby too. She's nearly 11 months. I am relying on her self weaning whilst I am pregnant, however it depends on if I get nursing aversion which I have battled with in the past.

Does your DS feed much during the day?

My friend stopped cold turkey and gave her son milk in a sippy cup but she got the most awful mastitis which obviously you don't want but she said her DS found it easier to understand as she said it was 'all gone'.

I have no desire to tandem feed either really

Sparrowlegs248 · 05/07/2016 16:03

Same sort of age then Happy, ds is 1 in 3 weeks. He doesn't feed a lot during the day. I've been working three days a week since 9 months, and he goes without milk those days. Sometimes has a small drink of cows milk. Today is not a work day and he hasn't fed all day since we got up. I don't know whether to carry on without daytime feeds first? And then address the night feeds. I'd like to get down to just morning and night to start really.

Rosey135 · 05/07/2016 20:25

Feeling bloated and crampy today and so much wind! Also couldn't get to sleep last night as I had a horrible dry throat and tickle cough, may not be related but I think from now on everything I feel will be pregnancy related in my head!

I told my boss as I was so light headed when I got to work u had to sit down, she's so excited for me and really supportive, feels more real now I've told someone. Also thinking I might not take the promotion as I want to be able to be flexible and I don't want to feel like I'm letting anyone down. I can still take more hours over the summer if needed.

How is everyone feeling? I'm sorry Notta that your partner isnt being supportive, that must be really tough.

alphabook · 05/07/2016 20:33

I'm feeling pretty grim! Tired, sick, bloated, emotional. I've wanted to be pregnant for so long I thought I would love it but it's not quite as wonderful as I thought it would be! Even though I feel like an ungrateful cow for feeling this way!

Dozygirl · 05/07/2016 20:37

Nottalotta my friend night weaned by just offering water in a sippy cup whenever her daughter woke up. She still doesn't sleep through the night but she doesn't ask for milk now. She only did it because she was going on a hen weekend when baby was nearly a year old. I only occasionally feed at night now as usually just a cuddle and dummy will do. I don't enjoy cosleeping but she's needed it recently in order to get some sleep.

Dustycorners · 05/07/2016 22:28

Notta I'm still bf'ing my 14 month old ds, though only when he wakes in the morning and before bed. I dropped the two daytime feeds when I went back to work when he was 12 months. He takes a little bit of cows' milk during the day from a sippy cup. I recently also stopped night feeds by sending DH into him instead when he wakes who offers water (probably not something your DH would do by the sounds of it?).

He often wants to feed when I get in from work but I just tell him he has to wait until bedtime and offer him water/cows' milk.

I really want to wean him fully soon as I don't want to tandem feed, but I have no idea how. I'm currently stopping feeding him to sleep at bed time, but this means it takes him about 2 hours to go to sleep, with me sitting by his bed. I feed him until he's quiet/sleepy and then put him down, at which point he is then wide awake and proceeds to mess around for at least an hour, getting increasingly ratty and over-tired. It's bloody hard work and I'm sure there must be more I could do to help him but I'm so bloody knackered and frankly just want to pass out on the floor next to his bed. It's usually about 9.15 before he is actually fully asleep and I can leave the room.

Maybe going cold turkey is the answer but I know he will be so upset. I was kinda hoping he would self-wean if I got pregnant and milk supply dropped/changed taste, but no sign of that yet Sad

Happygojo86 · 06/07/2016 06:37

Dusty, have a look on Kellymom, they have info on it, it will be mid pregnancy before your milk changes or dries up. It's still super early days X

neonrainbow · 06/07/2016 06:55

I woke up this morning at 6 with a cracking headache and couldn't get back to sleep. I cant take any paracetamol as cant face swallowing anything.

alphabook · 06/07/2016 08:41

I woke up with a headache this morning as well, think I was just dehydrated.

2ManySweets · 06/07/2016 09:27

Anyone else's hay fever off the scale? Urgh

neonrainbow · 06/07/2016 10:01

My headache wont go away. Its more like a migraine. I am at work. Want to go home to bed but they take a dim view of sickness in my place.

BridgetDoodle · 06/07/2016 10:38

Had my scan yesterday, I am only 5 weeks as expected. Never felt relief like it when I saw that little black sac. Consultant is lovely and not too concerned about anything at the minute so booked in for 3 weeks time again. Can't wait already! Off on holiday soon so time will go quickly.
Hope everyone is feeling ok!

Dinosaursparklepup · 06/07/2016 11:02

Hi.... I think..... not sure. Anyway, hello! Been using internet cheapies quite consistantly for the last few months as bf'ing so no periods. Just to put my mind at ease really. Hadn't really been paying much attention to them. Noticed a something on one a couple weeks ago, but really pathetically faint and didn't get darker over next few days so forgot about it. Did another one yesterday as have been feeling off, there's a definite somehing there but don't know how reliable these tests are now, and no idea how far along I would be if I am. Need to get a better test, but until then, potential baby number 4, all under 4, oh dear lord. Anyone have any experiences with confusing internet cheap sticks?! Confused

MonkeyPoozzled76 · 06/07/2016 11:17

Hey ladies, I'm still here, no more spotting since Monday, hopefully just a one off. Did another FR test yesterday and the line was darker than the control line so this has reassured me somewhat. Tested a week ago and was very faint so hopefully going in the right direction.

Still no major symptoms apart from being tired, although I think I may have a water infection! Confused

I'd welcome feeling a bit sicky, anyone else feeling distinctly normal?

BridgetDoodle · 06/07/2016 11:41

Monkey I am also not feeling any real kind of effects! I am more tired but no real nausea. Dr said yesterday it'll not be too far away. DH cannot understand why I want to be sick!

MonkeyPoozzled76 · 06/07/2016 12:03

Glad it's not just me Doodle. I am however taking full advantage of afternoon naps of which DH is very encouraging! nothong to do with waking up at 5 am every day with a busy head

alphabook · 06/07/2016 13:14

Great news Bridget and Monkey. Congrats Dinosaur!

NameChange30 · 06/07/2016 13:27

Dinosaur Nope I didn't use ICs at all because they are notoriously unreliable! Get yourself a FRER woman and pee on it first thing in the morning!

At what point do cramps stop being a normal pregnancy symptom and start being a sign of miscarriage? I've had mild cramps on and off since I got my BFP, but today they've been really painful - beginning of period, take two Nurofen and curl up in bed painful. Admittedly the pain didn't stay that bad for too long (it's back to mild/medium) but it's worrying nonetheless Sad

CinnamonTwist · 06/07/2016 13:48

I am happy not to feel sick for as long as possible, I have had a few headaches and really sore boobs, which aren't helping me sleep, but other than that feeling normal... We have decided to tell my DM and DHs DPs this weekend and then the rest of close family next weekend. Everyone else we will wait til after the 12 wk scan. We are only telling parents this weekend as think my in laws already a bit suspicious and we know they'll be super excited. We are only telling people who we would talk to anyway if something went wrong before the 12 week scan. After we see him/her will feel a bit happier about sharing with other people!

CinnamonTwist · 06/07/2016 13:59

Although I have to say, in a way I would like to feel more 'pregnant' as although I don't want to feel crap I feel so normal it's weird! If I didn't have sore boobs and the odd headache/ cramps I wouldn't think anything was happening at all!
