Just dropping in after a positive blood test this morning - an ivf cycle for us, hence the bloods. Very surprised to be actually pregnant after ttc for 2.5 years, and hoping very much it sticks.

No symptoms yet except for a whole heap I've been attributing to ivf drugs/impending AF/the progesterone I'm on/general stress and anxiety. But more hungry and tired than normal and a wee bit crampy tonight.

SecretScaryFriend · 04/07/2016 13:12

Congratulations Zenzie. Flowers
So glad the ivf was successful for you!

alphabook · 04/07/2016 13:48

I hope the spotting stops soon Monkey.

Congratulations Zenzie!

20 weeks still feels like a million years away, but if I make it that far then I'm planning on finding out the sex. I'm too nosy to wait!

Rosey135 · 04/07/2016 14:39

Congrats Zenzie!!

I won't be finding out, both my partner and myself would like to find our when it's here!

Cloeycat · 04/07/2016 14:44

What are you guys doing to combat the exhaustion at work? I'm struggling to stay awake here!

SpanielLedWeaning · 04/07/2016 15:00

Oh coley I am almost asleep at my desk! Definitely had a couple of long blinks!

Rosey135 · 04/07/2016 15:00

My boss has just asked me if I can take on a managers role in the busy shop I work in, which will mean longer hours and earlier starts, I feel ok at the moment so am tempted to say yes for the money but I'm worried I won't be up to it in a few weeks, not sure what to do. Any advice? Or words of wisdom? I don't really know how I will feel as this is my first :/

SpanielLedWeaning · 04/07/2016 15:01

Sorry! Cloey not coley. Damn autocorrect.

alphabook · 04/07/2016 15:52

I'm really struggling as well Cloey, the lack of caffiene is making it even harder!

I really don't know what I would do in that situation Rosey! I guess it depends how much more money you'll be making and whether it's worth it? I'm also a bit worried about coping at work if the sickness and tiredness gets worse.

NameChange30 · 04/07/2016 16:20

Congratulations Zenzie!

Monkey, hope your spotting stops.

Secret I definitely want to find out the sex at 20 weeks! Firstly because I'm impatient and secondly because it will be half the work to decide on a name. I can't use my favourite boy's name, sadly (but on the up side I do have a gorgeous nephew with the name) and I'm having trouble finding another that DH and I love. I know it's early days for that but I've been thinking about since before we started TTC! Blush

Rosey Congratulations on being offered a promotion - that's good news whether you take it or not. FWIW I think you should. You might be fine and if so it would be a shame to miss out on the opportunity. If you do get very tired or ill, maybe your boss could arrange temporary cover until you feel better. Another thing to bear in mind is that if you get SMP it will be calculated based on your average salary around week 16-26 of pregnancy (the exact period depends on your due date).

SpanielLedWeaning · 04/07/2016 16:31

Rosey it's a difficult decision as only you know how you are coping now and its an unknown factor on how you will cope later on in the pregnancy. I definitely felt more tired in the 1st and 3rd trimesters but felt pretty awesome inbetween (apart from pregnancy rage but that is a whole other story!)

If it helps I did a massive house extension last pregnancy which was very stressful. I went into labour the day our kitchen was fitted! I coped fine with the only side effect being slightly raised blood pressure now and then. But everyone is different and every pregnancy is different.

Could you try it as a temporary measure and step down if too much? Or ask another colleague to job share the role with you?

Happygojo86 · 04/07/2016 16:35

I retched at work today. In my last pregnancy I made it until 2 hours before my baby was born before I was sick (stupid gas and air!) so I am hoping to break that record and have a completely vom free pregnancy.... I'm already feeling queasy though and this time I am working as a health care assistant in a hospital. I was getting rid of a bed pan and thankfully I made it to the sluice before showing on my face that I felt really green! I hope I can make it through, otherwise I will have to try and to work on a less poop heavy ward!

My OH is super excited this time, it's me that's reserved. My last pregnancy he didn't acknowledge until the scan but I think the MC was still very raw for us both.

It's hard for blokes to understand right now, all we have is a line on a stick. We feel all these feelings and stuff and they don't see anything. When you have your dating scan and later on when they can feel baby and hear them hiccup (seriously!Grin) they get much more excited. Right now it's all a bit abstract for them.

karryk · 04/07/2016 17:05

Thinking of you Monkey - hope the spotting ends. I've just turned 39 so I'm in a similar position agewise. Just sitting tight and praying it's a good egg! Xx

ItsMagicYouKnow · 04/07/2016 17:08

Hello everyone!

Tentatively peeking my head round the door...

CD28 for me, with cycles between 25 and 33 days. Got BFP yesterday afternoon on a CB digital with very diluted afternoon urine, and a +OPK on Friday, so I'm guessing I'm at least 4 weeks today.

DS is almost 2 and I had a CP before him, so hoping this one sticks! I'm feeling dizzy, tired (although that's nothing new), and I had cramps around CD22, which I suspected to be implantation at the time. No surprise seeing the + result, but a total surprise to have conceived on our first try (DS took almost a year and was a lot more stressful and "planned"). It was very much a "not-trying-but-not-not-trying" kind of month, and we would have taken a break if it hadn't happened now for various reasons. So Shock!

OH is, I think, pleasantly surprised, but very cautious also, so we haven't talked about it much. I think once you've had a MC, it can be hard to rejoice over a + test!

Last time I was fine up until 7 weeks, and then the nausea hit and stayed until 12 weeks, so I'm taking precautions this time! I think last time I didn't rest enough and, spookily, I bought a load of cereal bars last week! I used to eat one before getting up in the morning, which really helped.

So sorry to anyone who's already had sad news, take care of yourselves. For those in limbo, fingers crossed it all works out well! Smile

ItsMagicYouKnow · 04/07/2016 17:10

Oh, and congrats everyone! Grin

neonrainbow · 04/07/2016 17:19

I've been having a tiny bit of light pink spotting today as well. Me and dh dtd last night i think thats why its happened - from extensive googling today. Id feel a bit of a fool contacting my midwife because its so light.

AlwaysNeverOnTime · 04/07/2016 17:38

I hope the spotting stops for those who have it.

I got kicked in the stomach by a child I work with today and I'm worrying about it. It was quite hard! I'm sure it will be fine though.

Rosey135 · 04/07/2016 18:11

Thanks Spaniel and Namechange I think I will take it and see how I go, I'm good friends with my boss so she will understand if I am finding g it too much, it's just that difficult point before you want to tell people but telling people could help your situation. I am hoping to work as much as possible during the pregnancy as I know I will miss my job.

Congratulations Magic!! It's hard not to get excited even when you know the stats, stay positive and keep well rested

Rosey135 · 04/07/2016 18:13

Oh no Always! That's horrible, but I think the little bean is well protected in there. My mum had a nasty fall when she was pregnant with my little brother, and was whacked right in the belly and he was fine

Sparrowlegs248 · 04/07/2016 19:53

Good evening all, sorry I am crap at personalised responses, typing this on my phone with ds finally conked out on me.

Dozy how strange, guess we will have the same age gap then? Ds will be 1 this month. He was a bit early (elcs) should have been an August baby. We only dtd once too!

I am exhausted, and ds has taken to being difficult at bedtime, so I am not even really getting a rest in the evenings, or proper food. Dh is pretty shit, and I was, still am, considering calling it a day. Those of you with less than enthusiastic oh, I can only advise that you start as you mean to go on. Get them involved, tell them how shit you feel and what they need to do. Mine did and still does sod all. But that's another thread!

I'm actually finding work easier than non work days. I work in an office, so sitting at my desk is much less physically demanding than looking after ds all day.

Hope those who are spotting are OK, it is a worrying time and 12 eeks seems ages. It drags. Speeds up once they're here though.

Getting a dead arm now, going to see if I can put ds in his cot.......

Jjspoon · 04/07/2016 20:23

This is getting busy! So much to catch up on and welcome everyone new!

I called my drs today and they didn't even want to see me, just gave me the number for the local midwifery team to call myself. Gave them a call and I have my first appointment next week which is an hour long group session of general pregnancy advice and what happens in the next few months. When I'm there they will book a shorter one on one appointment for personal health history and blood tests etc and then after that one they'll book the first scan. Sounds like a lot of appointments in a short time, not sure how I'm meant to make all these without work worrying what's wrong with me! They are all in work time too, I don't know how they expect people to do it so early on before wanting to tell work why you need so much time off.

Good to hear a few other people have no symptoms yet either, I was starting to worry about this :/ hopefully all is fine and im sure I won't be missing feeling so great in a few weeks time! I've booked a few exercise classes for this week and next to try and get it in before I feel too exhausted.

Secret... I definitely need to know the sex, I'm far too ocd and planning orientated to not know!

NameChange30 · 04/07/2016 20:44

Rosey Glad you're going to take it Smile

Notta Sorry your husband is crap, that must make it so much harder Sad I often post in Relationships (with a different username - I changed for TTC/pregnancy chat) so I'll look out for you in case you decide to post there.

jjspoon I guess your group meeting will be week 6/7, your individual appt will be week 7/8, and your scan will be around week 12? So they will be quite spread out, but it's a bit annoying (and unusual) that they do two at the beginning. You might have to think of something that will explain it - physio for a persistent injury, maybe?!

Jjspoon · 04/07/2016 20:49

Yes that's about right for timings, I will be 6 weeks at the first appointment next week :). I just really hate lying so im just hoping no one asks! I'm lucky my work is quite flexible in that I will just have to work later to make up my hours but I can imagine it must be really hard to get the time off for people in other jobs if they need to find cover etc?

alphabook · 04/07/2016 20:55

Congrats Magic!

I know exactly what you mean, I also had a mc last year and it's hard to feel like you can really get excited at this stage.

alphabook · 04/07/2016 20:57

Sorry to hear you're having a shit time with your husband Notta. Has he always been unsupportive?
