Thread #7 - TTC#1 Grads - Third Trimester Special

PotatosMum · 01/06/2016 12:38

It's time for another TTC#1 grads thread, with an ever increasing population of new arrivals, old hands and veterans we're moving thick and fast.

The first TTC#1 veterans are waddling their way into the third trimester this thread, with the promise of maternity leave to come, getting them through the day.

No subject is taboo, no TMI is too much, bump pictures, baby scans and photos of cute baby stuff are encouraged.

All are welcome so take your place on team blue, pink or vanilla for another TTC#1 grads thread!

I've been on a little holiday for a few days, and it looks like I've missed loads here!

Did I read that congratulations are in order for a mortgage Potato? Hooray!

I have a couple of striped maternity shirts now, but my pseudo-bump doesn't look right in them yet.. Some lovely, neat bumps here ladies!

Bunch I'm malamay1 on Instagram. No bump or baby related posts on there yet as it's still too early. Though I'll be 12 weeks on Wednesday, so I'm assuming that'll be T2 next week? Hoping hormones will change and I'll be feeling back to myself; I've been sooooo grumpy. Not at all what I expected.

I've been to a Mothercare and a Mamas and Papas event this past week. Mothercare was 10% off for the week, my Mamas and Papas was 10 off 100/25 off 250/75 off 500/200 off 1000 or 400 off a £2000 spend, and there was a £10 gift voucher in the pack they gave you. It was much smaller and more relaxed than the Mothercare event as well.

T3 sounds like an exciting/scary place. I can't imagine even feeling baby move yet! Hmm

StarkyTheDirewolf · 20/06/2016 12:07

Depending on what app/website etc you're on to can begin from 12 weeks to 14 weeks may I'm 18 weeks on Wednesday and this "being pregnant" concept is still completely abstract and alien for me! I've no bump, any potential movement I just put down to wind, need to get a smaller pair of maternity jeans because I overestimated what I'd need. And I won't buy anything till after 20 week scan has been done and sorted and then 24 weeks passes! I've not told any of my friends yet either, although that's not as issue as they live on the other side of the country Grin

Sodasoda · 20/06/2016 13:27

bunch my snoring has also been out of control. I bought some of those strips you put over you'd nose to open up airways and they've really helped. DH says I don't disturb him any more and I sleep better. They don't exactly look sexy though! Wink

lisa I just bought a birthing ball from Amazon. Seem to be pretty standard although they came in different sizes depending on your height.

Do you have to book in for whooping cough vaccine separate to your appointments? My next midwife appt isn't til 31 weeks.

potato I hate it when people talk on the phone in the loo - gross!!

LisaTheSimpson · 20/06/2016 14:39

Thanks Soda! I will investigate...

PotatosMum · 20/06/2016 14:43

Mayo yep, mortgage has finally been approved and I'm hoping my buyer is approved today I'll believe it when I see it
Mamas and papas event sounds good. Did you buy anything?

Potato hasn't stopped wriggling all day, she's doing my head in a bit Confused

Stark I really don't know how you manage to keep everything so secretive Smile

I have a shiny new phone! I will hopefully be switching over tonight which in turn will probably mess all my apps up so if I disappear for a day or two, that will be why Confused

Soda I booked mine through my GP.

I also need to look into a birthing ball (adds to long list)

Feefeefs · 20/06/2016 17:00

Also have the farts mileymoocow! Didn't realise till I can back to work either and can't just fart as I please Sad.

Yay for 30 weeks shelbta you'll be into single figures soon!! I'm halfway to 30, 15 weeks today Confused

I also want a birthing ball, Argos seems to have good options with good reviews

DrWhy · 20/06/2016 17:01

miley your office sounds grim, I don't notice our aircon until it goes off at 5pm and the office falls silent then heats up. I've always been naturally cold so I'm finding being constantly warm quite strange.

Potato the woman in your office sounds a nightmare. I'm already fed up with the constant stream of 'you won't sleep again for years, you'll never have a moment to yourself, you won't know what hit you' type comments. Having added smug earth mother delivering them probably doesn't help. What do they suggest we do, say we've changed our minds and send them back?!

Feefeefs · 20/06/2016 17:37

Also tried to follow most people on IG today too!

leoniethelioness · 20/06/2016 18:32

We moved to new offices three months ago and I am so glad - we had no air conditioning in our last ones.

Booked my NHS antenatal classes today so that's another thing crossed off my to do list! We're going the NHS and NCT ones in August. Hope we meet some local mums and dads to be to make maternity leave more interesting! I've stopped being overly ambitious about going back to work now and am planning to be off from end of September until start of July so about nine months. DH will take two weeks leave when I go back and my mum said she'll mind him for the last two so I'm hoping to avoid putting him into nursery until August.

Nevlet · 20/06/2016 18:58

Had no issues with heat at work today... Had so much rain my classroom was leaking. Ran out of different things to balance around the room collecting water. Not the best environment for the kids!

Mileymoocow · 20/06/2016 19:00

The office was pretty atrocious, everyone was complaining. Luckily I got away at 3pm so didn't have to suffer too long!

OH is back in nightshift so I'm sprawled in bed stretching out my bloated bump. Hope everyone has a nice evening Smile

leonie we haven't even started to think about childcare yet! My MIL is starting to get on at us about putting their name down for nurseries already Hmm surely not? Luckily with OHs shifts we won't need to put the baby in daycare more than 2 days a week, but my dad has decided he wants to babysit for us whenever he is available which is lovely! He has a grandson (his partners grandson really), a granddaughter from my brother and they look after another little girl who's mother can't be arsed with her (massively long story, really feel for the little girl. She's not even related to my dad at all!). MIL has also said she's available for duties one day every week.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 20/06/2016 19:46

Oh god, I'm clearly looking more prego than I thought! Had my first 'are you having a baby?' From a girl I know, followed by "well I just thought you'd put on weight until you turned round...you can tell from the back...you're big for 18 weeks" I was not wearing a flattering top. I don't know how I feel about it at all. Confused Grin

LisaTheSimpson · 20/06/2016 19:46

Miley, that's lovely you've got so much help from family. Both in terms of childcare cost, but also knowing your child will be with someone who loves them and that you trust.

Leonie - how do the NHS classes work? Do you have to sign up for them or do you get allocated to them? We've got NCT booked but I didn't realise there were NHS ones too Blush

LisaTheSimpson · 20/06/2016 19:48

Starky - if that happened to me I'd be pissed off and would promptly tell them where to go! So rude!

(Hopefully you're nicer than me though! Grin)

leoniethelioness · 20/06/2016 19:59

I just called my community midwife team. I've got three two hour classes booked. Apparently they don't paint as rosy a picture of childbirth! Well, that's what my midwife said - that they talk more about induction and C sections than NCT which is more about doing things quite naturally. I think the material will be similar but I'm hoping to meet some mummies!!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 20/06/2016 20:00

I think I did a multitude of faces lisa and then sort of went "see dh, I told you I'd gone wide" I will admit she did preface it with "there was nothing of you to start with" (wail, I used to be slim!) And how she didn't even realise she was pregnant till she was gone 6 months and she was really skinny then etc. My outfit was not cute or flattering at all, I'd already said to dh that I looked a monster (trackies and a proper oddly shaped top) but we were only nipping out for a food shop so I didn't want to get changed.

I really don't know how I feel about it, it's my first acknowledgement. I'm wondering if I need to eat less or something. Lol my heads not caught up with the body changes yet at all!

Mileymoocow · 20/06/2016 20:20

Starky you said yourself that the clothes weren't flattering so I wouldn't read too much into it. Sounds like she's a bit of a cow Hmm dunno why people think it's ok to say things like that, though!

Mileymoocow · 20/06/2016 20:20

Also I point blank refuse to believe people don't know they're pregnant until they're 6 months. I call bullshit.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 20/06/2016 20:27

You're right miley you are, I'm giving my head a wobble and having a brew and a biscuit! Grin

Sodasoda · 20/06/2016 20:33

Welcome starky. You're at the stage where your body is no longer your own and people don't realise that saying things like 'bloody hell you look massive today' is not exactly a compliment.

Just back from my first session of pregnancy yoga. I veered between so relaxed I almost fell asleep to really stressed I was going to fart in front of everyone Blush But I think I will go again!

Back home to watch the footy. DH is mad Welsh fan so currently watching in different rooms!

Thanks for vaccine info danni

lisa I've booked NCT too but was also planning on going to a couple of NHS classes - I got info from my midwife at booking in appointment - they're all held at my hospital.

Mileymoocow · 20/06/2016 20:37

Have one for me, starky! I've put myself on a biscuit ban after going completely mental because there were no hobnobs left. I'm like a total sugar monster at the minute so I'm having a salted caramel green tea and a banana...

Baby is going nuts tonight, wonder if they can feel my frustrations watching the England match Wink

Newmrs22 · 20/06/2016 20:50

Hi ladies! I've had a few days break and missed loads again! Sorry!

Hope everyone's good. I have less than 4 weeks left at work and I'm too excited about it Grin I'm absolutely shattered so I really need some time off. Sod's law says baby will come a couple of weeks early and shatter my peace.

starky that won't be your last comment. People are so annoying and rude. People keep telling me I'm massive or tiny.

Any other T3ers struggling with appetite? I never thought this would happen but I get full so quickly.

miley football is so frustrating. Just score! I'm tempted to just go to bed.

Sodasoda · 20/06/2016 20:51

miley - SALTED CARAMEL green tea you say? Tell me where I can get such a thing, I need one NOW! Grin

Mileymoocow · 20/06/2016 21:10

soda they're on offer in Asda! They do a cherry bakewell one, too.

Haha new it really is! To make matters worse, I'm all alone in bed because even the dog is sick of my ramblings.
