Thread #7 - TTC#1 Grads - Third Trimester Special

PotatosMum · 01/06/2016 12:38

It's time for another TTC#1 grads thread, with an ever increasing population of new arrivals, old hands and veterans we're moving thick and fast.

The first TTC#1 veterans are waddling their way into the third trimester this thread, with the promise of maternity leave to come, getting them through the day.

No subject is taboo, no TMI is too much, bump pictures, baby scans and photos of cute baby stuff are encouraged.

All are welcome so take your place on team blue, pink or vanilla for another TTC#1 grads thread!

Thanks guys. I'll try the ice cold drink and see if that makes her a bit more active. I've not got a specific number I don't think, but won't take much to get in touch with the midwife unit at the hospital.

Dh has pointed out that I barely got off the sofa yesterday and so my own movements were totally out of the normal anyway. She does tend to be most active at night when I've been more active during the day, so from that point of view she may actually not be so far off pattern after all.

I'll see what the drink does and give them a call if it doesn't make any difference. Will keep you posted. Thanks x

IrregularCommentary · 19/06/2016 12:18

Haha! She has definite opinions about an influx of iced water Grin Almost immediate response.

Feeling much less on edge now Smile

leoniethelioness · 19/06/2016 12:19

Yay, Irregular!!

IndiX · 19/06/2016 12:45

Yay irregular! Iced water trick always helps..so does ice cream I've foundGrin

Lauren I'm sorry to hear about your DH. Hope you can have a chat later about things, it must be hard for you especially when pregnant.

Thanks for the comments regarding my Nan, she just likes the attention and I think she can get a bit bored as it's just her and my grandad most of the time. They don't get out much. She also suffers with her nerves quite a bit so any slight pain or sicky feeling and my mum or the ambulance is called.

Feeling better than this morning anyway, I've been the gym- cycled for an hour while watching Love Island (obsessed!). now going to get home, walk the dogs and then chill and watch more love island. Yes I have an addiction.

leoniethelioness · 19/06/2016 13:03

Is Love Island the programme with the Miss GB who has been stripped of her crown after getting frisky there? Never seen it but read an article the other day.

Tesco delivery put away, clothes washed, floors mopped... Now putting my feet up to watch the Formula One (although the white noise always sends me to sleep...) and then do a bit more cleaning before DH is home. If this sounds a bit housewifey, don't fret - DH does his fair share!

BunchOfBobs · 19/06/2016 13:08

Woohoo irregular!

I've had quite a lot of Braxton hicks episodes this morning and now in freaking out as I've has a hideous back all week. Apparently the two together warrants a call to the midwife if you have frequent or regular BH.
I'm going to go walk the dog as apparently a change in activity can stop them and see what happens. If they ramp up I'll be on the phone doing my share of pregnancy drama. ---- Seriously I'm finding T3 jitters worse than T1 at the mo.

BunchOfBobs · 19/06/2016 13:39

I'm happy to say they've stopped. Phew. I had 3 whilst having a shower and it freaked me out. Drama queen much

DrWhy · 19/06/2016 14:29

Irregular and Bunch - Phew! I feel like we are going to worry not just through the rest of pregnancy but the next 20 years about these babies!

I know I'm late to the party but since I'm wearing a stripy top today I thought I'd try a photo.

DrWhy · 19/06/2016 14:30

The stripes and the angle seem to have made the lines go odd but that's 28+3.

BunchOfBobs · 19/06/2016 14:38

Yay for another stripey bump Dr. Lovely looking bump. Oh yes I'm certain this is only the start of worrying!

PotatosMum · 19/06/2016 15:01

Danni welcome to T3, believe it or not pregnancy gets even less glamorous from here on in Confused

Shelb I got mine free with my pram. I don't think changing bags have to be pricey it's just that marketers are aware that people will spend stupid money on their baby. All you need is a big bag with a couple of compartments.

Lisa secondhand cot frame is fine as long as you have a new mattress Smile

Soda that curtain bill is insane Shock

Lauren I'm sorry to hear about your OH, it's really difficult dealing with someone with depression.
Hopefully once the baby is here he will shift into a different coping strategy.

irregular About mid 20s Potato stopped kicking and started fidgeting which was a lot more subtle at first and made me worry a bit. 5 weeks later and her fidgeting is so strong it's actually a little irritating at times lol

Bunch Glad the BH stopped. Totally agree that T3 is more nerve wracking than T1.

Dr lovely bump. feeling left out as I have no stripy top!

OH and I spent the morning at a garden centre it was one with a pet but so we nearly came home with a pair of rats and a tortoise Blush I am not usually allowed in pet shops.
We then had cakes (Potato likes cream teas as much as I do) and later we're off to see OHs family for Father's Day I haven't spoken to my dad since I was 13 so celebrating Father's Day the past couple of years has been a bit of a novelty

Mean while OH is cooking a roast and I'm cross stitching. It's all very civilised Smile

Yes Leonie it's total trash TV but perfect for a rainy Sunday like today.
Meant to be seeing a friend tonight but not heard from him and now I just can't be arsed. why are people so flakey sometimes? I'm pretty comfy in my jarmies and just washed my hair but a text would've been nice..

Dr lovely neat bump, it's nice and high too!

When did belly buttons start popping out ladies? Mine is definitely still an innie atm

shelbTa · 19/06/2016 18:02

Lovely bump dr!

Erm, holy shit - I've just taken a look at the maternity sanitary pads I bought to see me through days after birth - how big?!!!! Is this is a joke, or is it going to be THAT much of a car crash down there!

X

BunchOfBobs · 19/06/2016 18:12

Indi mine am has been gone an age, but wasn't very deep to start with.

Shelb yeah I opened one of my boxes then promptly put them down. I don't need to think about that horror yet Confused

leoniethelioness · 19/06/2016 18:18

Shelb & Bunch - I was reading about this yesterday, girls... See www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/you-after-birth.aspx

Be prepared, ladies: "After the birth, you will bleed from your vagina. This will be quite heavy at first, and you'll need super-absorbent sanitary towels. Change them regularly, washing your hands before and afterwards. It isn't a good idea to use tampons until after your six-week postnatal check because they can cause infection.

While breastfeeding, you may notice that the bleeding is redder and heavier. You may also feel cramps like period pains, known as "after pains". These things happen because breastfeeding makes the womb (uterus) contract.

The bleeding will gradually become a brownish colour and may continue for some weeks, getting less and less until it stops. If you find you are losing blood in large clots, you should save your sanitary towels to show the midwife as you may need some treatment."

I am glad I didn't know that before I got pregnant.

shelbTa · 19/06/2016 18:24

Jesus. Christ. Not sure I'm quite ready for birth reality yet either!

X

leoniethelioness · 19/06/2016 18:25

It's heavy stuff, isn't it?!

shelbTa · 19/06/2016 18:43

Bunch sorry just seen about your braxtons hicks and back ache - how's things? X

Sodasoda · 19/06/2016 18:52

My labour ward tour today made everything seem quite real too! Lots of matter of fact talk like 'this is the theatre where you'll go if you need a c-section - or if you get a 3rd degree tear' Shock

The reality of birth is not a nice thing!

indi I have a very deep innie belly button. It's definitely changed in the last few weeks but is still an innie. I'm 27+4.

Mileymoocow · 19/06/2016 19:02

bunch I feel you need to publish this IG list because I really struggle! I honk I have a couple down though

shelb we've bought a plain grey messenger bag from mother care for 25 quid. Goes well with our pram and is roomy enough with a travel changing mat

I had so much more to say but I'm having mega brain fart today, also being slightly panicked at lack of movement Sad think I'll try the cold drink thing

indi I have a deep innie too and am still rather deep! Hope it stays that way as I have major belly button phobia

Mileymoocow · 19/06/2016 19:05

Also soda I'm horrified at your quote for blinds!!! Do you have a full glass wall in the nursery?! We're going to get them fitted, too and we have been quoted £125!

Anyone suffer heartburn? Never had it bofore in my life until today and it is ridiculously unpleasant. I had to ask my nurse friend to describe it over the phone to make sure it was what I was experiencing

DrWhy · 19/06/2016 19:18

Thanks for the compliments folks Smile I don't feel very 'neat' more like a baby hippo!

leonie and shelb it's called lochia if I remember correctly and goes on for about 6 weeks, I discovered it when I was researching how soon I could take my baby swimming. Apparently the baby is fine pretty much from birth but mum can't go in for 6 weeks or so because of the bleeding and risk of infection - can't wait Hmm
Soda where is your blind quote from? We bought blackout blinds to custom size from someone like blinds direct on line for about £60 for our regular size windows. They aren't brilliant as the light creeps round the sides but if you had them behind curtains you'd be fine.
Miley I had heartburn one night a couple of weeks back because I had dinner far too late and went straight to bed, urgh, won't repeat that!

Mileymoocow · 19/06/2016 19:35

dr you absolutely don't look like a hippo, you're looking really good. I think you've got a nice petite bump Grin I won't make that mistake, I think it could have been the peach lemonade I had from Costa earlier! Maybe a touch too acidic.

BunchOfBobs · 19/06/2016 19:38

Miley I'll post it as a pic so people can keep private and not be searchable if you get me.
I suffer quite badly from heartburn (in this pregnancy I mean), I'm on prescription meds- Ranitidine and non branded gaviscon (Peptac). It massively helps but I still suffer. It's horrid.

BH gone now thanks Shelb seems to be a new thing of life now.

Please don't be offended if I haven't managed to identify you yet but please help fill in the gaps Grin Also my spelling may be off.

Nice bumps Dr and Bunch (can't remember if I saw yours here or on IG)- neat bumps on people further along than me keep me optimistic!

Miley - snap. Experiencing my first ever bout of heartburn as I type. I do not like it! How are you feeling re. movement now, did the cold drink help?

Pretty sure I'm just going to order maternity pads from Amazon and not open them until I need them. I'm in fairly serious denial about the reality of birth atm. I'm fine with pregnancy and am really excited about the having a baby bit, but my mind absolutely refuses to do anything other than skip over the inbetween bit!

Indi - still an innie here, but it's definitely changing shape and is less deep. Dh keeps looking at it, fascinated. Apparently it looked like a sad face last night (complete with sad face impression so I got the full effect). I'm hoping it stays in as belly buttons freak me out as well Hmm
