Bumble, can you increase it and only take the increased dose some nights when really really it and take the original dose otherwise?
I promise you do forget the horrible sickness and things fairly quickly- or you just blank it from your mind afterwards in the newborn haze which is probably more true! I was adamant I wasn't having any more after my last pregnancy, and yet here I am 18 months later and I genuinely had forgotten how awful the nausea and sickness are. Just decided it was better to get on with it as quickly as possible before I lost my nerve!

Nuttypops · 19/06/2016 19:49

Both DH and I love the pioneer Goinggrey, and the Grandparents find it really easy to use. We occasionally use another smaller pram for flights etc, and my Dad really struggled to put that one together and collapse it etc. He finds the pioneer an absolute doodle though.
What we love about it is that it is sturdy enough for walking in fields etc, but also not too cumbersome for buses, walking in town etc and it has a huge basket underneath to carry lots of stuff. It is an easy one to steer but not too heavy to lift. We used it with the maxi cosi pebble car seat and adapters for the travel system which was brilliant, used until DD was about 10 months as well as the carrycot and seat. We still use it daily with DD, who is 19 months, now.

The one problem we have come across with it is with the brake on the rear wheels as it sometimes locks and sticks. Both us and 2 friends who had it had to contact silver cross about problems with one wheel. They were very good and replaced either the wheel, or the whole wheel base, within a few days depending on the problem. No problems since.

But, it can't be converted to a double pram so may be worth thinking about whether you may need a double in a year or so.

firawla · 19/06/2016 19:57

bigfam thanks for the discount code! I'm planning to go to window to the womb. Should probably book it soon!

lovewatchingrainfall I was meaning to go get measured properly at bravissimo for maternity bras but in the mean time I got a basic one from asda and its sooo comfy! And was only 6 quid too!

bumbleclat I'm still a bit sick. Not every day, but various smells etc will set me off or when I have an empty stomach in the morning.

With prams I still have no idea what brand to get really! I want parent facing option and preferably decent tyres - so maybe 3 wheeler. But don't want to spend a crazy amount! I'll leave it til much nearer the time anyway, I need to work out where to store it our hallway is very short on space!

goinggrey1978 · 19/06/2016 20:22

Thanks so much nuttypop!! I have 6 siblings in the freezer as well, so there could well be another one not long after bubbles arrival, which my mum seems very happy about, bubble is the first grandchild and nephew or niece for my 3 siblings too! So this Christmas will be unlike any other year!!

TipBoov · 19/06/2016 20:37

bumble I said exactly the same! We had IVF with DS1 too and froze some embryos (this pregnancy is one of those frozen embryos) and after the hell that is IVF and morning sickness (that was actually all day sickness) until around 16 weeks, I swore I wouldn't do it again!

It really took 4 years to even consider another cycle, the memory has obviously dulled now!

SouthDownsSunshine · 19/06/2016 20:40

I'm still sick, at 16 weeks. When I see the gp tomorrow I'm going to ask for a fit note for reduced hours, as it's hard to work through. It's much better than it was, but it can still be quite debilitating.

I bought some non-wired bras from m&s. They're ugly, but comfy. There's no point buying any breastfeeding/maternity ones now, as you shape changes once baby is born.

SouthDownsSunshine · 19/06/2016 20:41

For new bras, get ones that fit on the tightest fitting, as your ribcage gets quite a bit bigger towards the end of the pregnancy.

barkingtreefrog · 19/06/2016 21:32

bigfam did you book the scan online or do you have to call? I just tried booking on the website but just keep getting taken to the phone number.

On our way back from a festival. Having to trek across the field in the middle of the night to get to the portaloos was pretty grim, as was waking at 2am with a headache so bad the pain made me cry, but otherwise a really good weekend!

Rainfall My nausea has gone down a lot, but I'm still exhausted (I went to bed at 8 at the festival while everyone else was out until 1.30) and the headaches are horrendous. 15+2 today and counting down the days until hopefully the headaches bugger off!

AppleMagic · 19/06/2016 21:41

Nutty we have the same gap between dc1 and 2 and really appreciated having the double but only for about 6months. After that buggyboard was fine for dc1 because she didn't nap in the day anymore. Dc2 was a bit of a Velcro baby so I really appreciated the few moments when they were both in the pushchair and I didn't have a human attached to me. We got a 2nd hand Phil and Teds Sport for about £100 and could have sold it for the same amount once we were done.

BristolLFR · 19/06/2016 21:53

If anyone has some favourite comfy bras they don't quite want to part with yet, these are great for giving you a bit more space

www.marksandspencer.com/3-pack-3-hook-bra-extenders/p/p21078615?&edcredirect

I had to buy more bras at 6 weeks as I went up 2 sizes, then at 9 weeks I needed a bigger back size. The lady in mothercare sold me some without underwiring (which is what we're meant to do to be fair), but being rather blessed, I haven't found them comfy or flattering. These extenders mean I've got more wear out of the softer (but underwired still) ones I bought at 6 weeks.

I just went for cheapies from tesco/ asda as I figured I wouldn't be in them for long!

I'm going on hols soon and an agonising about a strapless bra. I usually wear a wonderbra ultra which has fab support, but they aren't very comfy around the ribs. Definitely not getting in my old one, but don't think I'll get another bigger one. Need to find one that's supportive, but still comfy. If you have any ideas let me know (36F!)

Nuttypops · 19/06/2016 22:01

Goinggrey, that is fantastic, the entire family must be so excited! What a memorable Christmas it will be.

Apple, thanks, we are definitely thinking second hand if we do get a double. That's useful to know that you found it helpful for a while, I will look up the pram as an option, thanks! Please tell me you are joking about your older one dropping naps at 2.5years though?! I am really hoping to string DD on with naps until she is 3 so I can enjoy DC2 hopefully having regular naps at some point next year... I think I am dreaming!

AppleMagic · 19/06/2016 22:27

She dropped them at home pretty much the week before her brother was born nutty. Just needed a pushchair catnap if we were out and about. But she's never been a very good sleeper! Her brother is better but he always ends up falling asleep on the preschool run so I don't get a "home nap" out of him now either.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 20/06/2016 03:01

Agggghhh need to sleep!! So tonight has been pretty shit! Husband and I went to bed at half 9ish as I was so tired anyway he falls asleep and starts snoring very loud! Have up trying to wake him. So went to lay on the sofa that's where I still am and I have had 20mins nap, feel asleep at 12:45 then toddler woke up at 12:55,husband sorted but did not bother to see where I was. The nodded off again at 2:10 for once again toddler to wake at 2:20 once again husband got up, he then walks in the lounge hunts around for biscuits still does not notice I'm not in bed and still on the sofa, and I can hear him snoring away. Need to be up with the toddler when she wakes at 4:30- 5am is there any point in me sleeping??

P.s sorry this was rather long.

And my toddler stopped her day time nap at aged 2! I found it very hard

ermmm · 20/06/2016 03:51

Up here aswel. Went bed at 11 and Woke up at 1.30am feeling really sickly- gaviscon is no longer my friend 😕.
Dh is in spare room as apperently it's not lady like to be burping as soon as I sit up🤔.
Thank goodness no toddlers here- just going to run dc to school if dh doesn't sleep in otherwise he will do it on way to work- ( chances are he will be sleeping in as I'm by there to kick him out).
😳 @ rainfall dh not noticing you are missing from bed 😶

Lovewatchingrainfall · 20/06/2016 03:58

Thanks he still has not noticed. HmmConfused

I would still go and kick him out then he can take them to school and you might get a bit more rest

ermmm · 20/06/2016 04:14

It's the other way round/ if he wakes for work he will be gone b4 kids are up- if he sleeps in kids will wake him and he will have no choice but to drop them to school lol. I'm evil

He does need to be in early on Monday's to get figures ready and always moans when his late - oh well - don't call me unladylike when I'm pregnant with your baby and I might make sure u get off to a good start to your work week.

Bigfam · 20/06/2016 05:31

firawla & barkingtreefrog I've not actually got around to booking mine yet either, I'll do it either today or tomorrow, if you can't do it online though barkingtreefrog, I'd give them a call. A friend I spoke to told me they're fantastic and showed me the free picture she got for the preview 3d/4d scan.

My youngest will be a month(ish) from turning 2 when baby arrives so will still be using a double but can easily remove the second seat if she doesn't want to use it, she's been walking since she was 9months and strolling to and from school (3/4 of a mile there and back) for a couple of months too Smile

Helgathehairy · 20/06/2016 09:39

I HATED the buggy we got for DD. It was a babylo system and was OK in the shop but at home I couldn't get the car seat in the wheels and IF DH got it on it was impossible to get off. I used slings a lot and then got a uppababy vista as I wanted something light for holiday.

Helgathehairy · 20/06/2016 09:47

Right - I might be thrown off the thread for asking this but - for any of you die around Christmas have you thought about what you're going to do?

We generally go to my mums in the morning and then in-laws for lunch. This year we were going to have everyone to our very small house. BUT I'm due the 22nd. Best case scenario I have baby and am home for Christmas Day. I won't want to leave the house or really have anyone round so thinking best option might be our own little Christmas with the help of M&S. We'd maybe have mum and in-laws visit but not for long.
Option 2 is baby is late (DD was 2 weeks late) and I could go to in-laws but not sure - I was ok when I was pregnant with DD, not too uncomfortable but I don't really remember. In-laws are only 30 mins away so not too far from hospital.

Helgathehairy · 20/06/2016 09:48

DUE around Christmas - horribly unfortunate typo there.

HannahJH · 20/06/2016 10:02

Helga that is a great question!! I haven't really given this too much thought yet but I am due on the 11th so I am pretty sure that the baby should be here by Christmas Day? Does anyone know if they'd do a planned indiction on Christmas Day?! Or would it be the 23rd?
Separately, wth this being my first baby I have no idea how I would be a week/two weeks after giving birth? Is it feasible to be out the house? Or have people over? I have absolutely no idea!! Xx

TinySalmon · 20/06/2016 10:08

Haha helga I was thinking woah I hope I don't die around Christmas!

Originally we were going to have my parents over (they live abroad) but I don't particularly have a good relationship with them (neither does DP) and think it will be too stressful to have a family Christmas AND an infant at home so our thinking is just the two of us and baby for Christmas (EDD is 19th but could be late) and enjoy our time together as a family and then have my parents over in February when we are settled in to a routine.

We usually spend Christmas abroad (no family, no hassles, somewhere with lots of sun) so will be interesting to spend it in London this year with a new addition!

DartmoorDoughnut · 20/06/2016 10:15

We have hosted Christmas the last two years since DS came along as we thought that was the fairest way to ensure both sets of grandparents saw him on the day! This year we've said we'll just be doing Christmas by ourselves, DS is 2 in September so too little yet to know about it all, we'll still do the tree/decorations etc but the actual day will be spent in pjs Grin I'm due 11/12 and hoping for ELCS so the baby should be here before Christmas but I'm guessing it'll only be a few days old, a week at the most, and that means cluster feeding and pjs!

lilydaisyrose · 20/06/2016 10:16

I hope our baby will be here by Christmas - due just over 2w before, but will do my best to refuse induction if it comes to that as we are planning a home birth, so we'll see. Mind you, although DD, my eldest, was 9d late, my DS, my youngest, was 4d early so I'm not sure when to expect this one. If I could choose, I'd want to deliver in firs week of December so am over 38w (for home birth) but baby is born before Christmas celebrations really kick in. Although I do think a Christmas baby sounds magical. In terms of where we'll spend Christmas, at home with M&S food and some visitors popping in would be my preference I think then we might travel to DH's folks on Boxing Day or 27th depending how this are going and if/when DH's mad bro and SIL are going (as would prefer to avoid them!).

firawla · 20/06/2016 10:18

Just booked my scan for Window to the Womb - thanks again for the code bigfam! I had to book it in an evening as they didn't seem to have day time free in the day I wanted, so will be taking all the kids with me - hopefully they will enjoy seeing the baby!

barkingtreefrog I managed to book it online, I did it on laptop rather than on phone, not sure if that makes any difference. They just took 20 quid deposit payment and I presume I'll pay the rest on the day.

As for Christmas plans, we don't always do much anyway since we're Muslim (my side of family are not though, so sometimes we do go my parents around boxing day), but I think we will probably stay home this year, and let people come to us if they want to see us. Due 18th so only a few days before, although last time was induced couple of weeks earlier for GD so mentally preparing myself for the same thing and expecting it to be earlier in the month
