Thanks Bow and hiccup

I naturally roll over on my sleep, think I'm going to have to barricade myself in with pillows to maintain position!

Having said that it happened again last night, and I was definitely on my left side (was left leg) when it woke me.

Will see if it happens when I'm at home tonight, hopefully just a reaction to a bit of a lumpy spare bed Smile

BristolLFR · 19/06/2016 09:50

lovewatching, doesn't sound like your parter is being especially supportive. DH keeps calling me chubs, but in an affectionate way so I don't mind so much. Maybe just call him up on it sternly next time he does it.

Must be very difficult if you're still suffering, and have a toddler too. If you feel down though and it's not a specific "I've had an especially shit day" feeling, please mention it to your midwife, and keep talking to us. It could be depression (do you have a history?) or it could just be knackered mess, but best to keep an eye on it x

SouthDownsSunshine · 19/06/2016 11:39

beccia have you tried removing wheels etc? We can fit our huge uppababy vista into our ford fiesta boot. We can even fit things around it!

Thisisbonkers · 19/06/2016 13:05

We've started looking at prams Shock it's all too real! Im due to change my car so I need it all to fit together!

TipBoov · 19/06/2016 13:24

I'm torn between using the pram we used for DS1 (icandy cherry) or buying a nice shiny new pram.

The icandy cherry was one of four and the only one we kept hold of, so hasn't had much wear at all, but has been in the garage so needs a clean... Decisions!

becciandbump · 19/06/2016 13:24

Yay the pram fit when we tried it -it's pretty tight but so pleased I can have the one we got xxx

I feel like I'm being tickled from inside?? Is it bubble moving??

lilydaisyrose · 19/06/2016 13:56

No pram required here. We have a small house and a short school run (3 mins) and as we are in a village, drive everywhere else . We are planning to buy a couple of stretchy slings.

Bigfam · 19/06/2016 15:27

I've decided to book a gender scan, if anyone is interested and lives near a 'window to the womb' their gender scans are only £44 with a discount (ED20) AND you get loads of pictures, they tell you the gender (obviously) & they also give you a preview of a 3d/4d scan all on a DVD Smile

We've got an oyster max, it's huge but as I don't drive and the school is only up the road, it won't be a problem, I'll probably buy a sling thing as well as when my youngest was a baby she hated the pram, I expect beanbigfam will too

puppythedog · 19/06/2016 15:33

We got a Graco Evo travel system for DD, it's a bit busy but useable so will continue to use that. We also use a Tula carrier and plan to use our stretch wrap and Maitei sling for new baby :-)

SouthDownsSunshine · 19/06/2016 16:44

I love slings, I used one all the time with dd. A stretchy bamboo one at the start, then onto a more structured one (ABC), plus a brief flirtation with a ring sling (hated it), a pouch sling (handy for short uses), and then a lightweight one for holidays. The only one we didn't have was one for hiking, I think we'll get one in a year's time.

becciandbump · 19/06/2016 16:48

Ive seen a nice soft material sling in mothercare and then seen a babybjorn more structured sling does anyone one know if babybjorn is any good ? or are there other more structured ones you'd recommend it just seems to be the one popular in mothercare, mamas and papas etc

OP posts:
puppythedog · 19/06/2016 18:08

Look for an ergonomic sling.
The babybjorn are not ergonomic and are bad for baby's hips. I can spam some stuff about it later if that is helpful.
A Google of
Ergonomic baby carriers is a good idea as it explains.
For newborn you can get a stretchy wrap for about twenty quid from Victoria sling lady. There are lots of options and all, except none ergonomic, are brilliant.
We used a Meitei for ages with DD, it's just now she is bigger I wanted more support for me :-) so got a Tula which with an insert will also do from birth to toddling and beyond.

puppythedog · 19/06/2016 18:10

For more structure do you mean for you or for baby's benefit?
More structure look for semi structured slings like Ergo, Tula, Connecta and many others. My neighbour has a baby Bjorne and it just does not look right?

MrsJoJo · 19/06/2016 18:47

I'm a big sling fan!! Had a Kari- me stretchy wrap, a ring sling and an ergo... Used my ergo until DS was over 3 - I will get another as it was my go to but I prefer the stretchy wrap slings for newborns (once you've got the hang of them!).

Dug out my support belt today... Need a new one as the foam has died but osteopath advised against wearing it for now (I used it from about 30 weeks last time). But he did advise using pillows between my legs in bed so the bolster pillow I used last time has returned.

Nuttypops · 19/06/2016 18:51

Becci, hopefully the pram will fit ok. Is it a travel system? I found we mainly used the car seat and wheels in the early days with DD who was a Nov baby, it is just easier than taking them in and out. So if it's a travel system, you may well not need to get the carrycot in the boot too often. If not, the seats or wheels sometimes unattach depending on the pram and can be easier to get in that way.

We have a Silver Cross Pioneer for DD which is a fairly chunky pram and it fits in the boot of my Ford B-Max (similar size to fiesta). Boots can be roomier than they look thankfully!

Goinggrey, sounds like baby moving to me! It is a really weird feeling at first.

Sling wise, I swore by the NCT close caboo for DD and am planning to use the same for this one.

bumbleclat · 19/06/2016 18:53

Sorry to keep going on about it but is anyone else still being sick and feeling nauseous?
I am 13+3 today and had hoped it would have started to tail off by now (wishful thinking) Ive written 18/28 of my school reports this weekend and have done literally zero planning for the week ahead at school. Im finding that I have to wake up at 6am to get everything done because Im basically bed-bound from 5:50pm onwards due to nausea and fatigue.

Sorry to moan, it's just I'm failing to enjoy any of my days and have felt like this for weeks on end now :(

Nuttypops · 19/06/2016 19:01

Bumble, yes. I am still struggling with the nausea and sickness although it has reduced in recent weeks. I am still taking anti-sickness meds for it though because otherwise it seems to come back with a vengeance.

Do you find it worse when you are tired? I know i really struggled at this stage of the school year when I was expecting DD and teaching full time. Report writing and the usual end of year stuff just exhausted me. It was so much easier once we got to the summer holidays. The heat doesn't help either. I hope it reduces for you soon.

TipBoov · 19/06/2016 19:03

bumble I do t really have any nausea anymore but I do still have morning sickness - usually just some bike when I brush my teeth or if something makes me gag (today it was the smell of crumpets cooking for DS1's breakfast Blush).

I am completely stuck for maternity clothes! I'm 5'1 and can't find any petite trousers for work. Having to wear dresses but maternity dresses tend to be a little too long.

I also have a ball next month and need to wear a long dress, which would be hard to find at the best of times! I found a lovely midi dress from asos but I'm normally a size 12 and even a 10 is too big. I dont understand why maternity clothes are so big all over! I tried a vest top on in New Look yesterday and the arm holes were even huge Confused

Nuttypops · 19/06/2016 19:04

Speaking of prams and slings- what are you doing if you have a toddler who still uses a pram when this one comes along?
Double buggy or sling/buggy board and single pram combo?

DH and I are umming about a double pram. DD will be just 2 when this one arrives, and not ready for a buggy board I expect. But I reckon it will only be for 6 months or so, so I am wondering if baby in sling and pram for DD is a better bet in the short term until DD can use a buggy board.

We live on a rural military base, so do have to drive every day to get anywhere. DD's nursery is on the base so we walk there everyday but everything else is a drive, so a single pram and single may be easier than dragging a double pram in and out of the car.

Thisisbonkers · 19/06/2016 19:04

Bumbleclat I was still being sick at that point, only really coming out of it by 15 weeks, and even now at 16 weeks some things can make my tummy churn. Hold on in there, hopefully not too long to go now.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 19/06/2016 19:18

Thank you for your advice Bristol i might make an appointment with the doctors just to talk through how i am feeling. i suffered with severe post traumatic stress after my daughter was born.

On a different note, has anyone brought maternity bras yet? mine are now starting to hurt and not sure to either look into the maternity bra or just a normal bra.. I am at a wedding this Saturday and need a strapless one which is going to be hard to find i feel.

And yes to the nausea, i have it all day long and sometimes wish i could just be sick to make me feel better. Also the headaches are starting to get to much.

bumbleclat · 19/06/2016 19:30

Thisisbonkers TipBoov Nuttypops and Lovewatchingrainfall Thanks, somehow it doesn't feel quite so awful when you can talk to others about it I wish I had pregnant friends in rl to talk to.

nuttypops , I'm still taking promethazine in the evenings and it is helping alleviate the night shift of nausea a lot because it just knocks me out cold! I might ring Dr and see if I can increase my dose from 25-50mg I know that 100mg is the maximum but I think the less the best for now.

I'll be amazed if I do this again but Im really pro siblings so Ill probably be back on here winging again in a couple of years :)

goinggrey1978 · 19/06/2016 19:41

Nuttypops, thanks yes having spoken to various family and friends, it's seems bubbles tickling is bubbles first movements!! Also I've just been looking at the silver cross pioneer buggies, as I like the big wheels, also because I can get the car seat to go on top, comes with a carrycot and the buggy top as well, how did other members of your family get on with it, as I have to think about my parents being able to operate all of bubbles equipment too, it's there first grandchild and I have to go back to work to support us both!
