Had my 16 week appointment / quad bloods today. They also retook some bloods as my antibodies (ab-) were inconclusive last time. Was weighed and have put on just under 1kg and got to listen to babies heartbeat which was incredible (and just what I needed as I was becoming a tad anxious again in the huge gap between 12 and 20 weeks) 4 weeks today & we will be at the 20 week scan hopefully finding out the sex!

Hello lovely people. I'm in the FB group and find it easier to manage to keep track of stuff on there but plan to keep coming here too. Sorry if I miss important posts though, I find it hard to keep track.

In other news are any of you lovely people planning to cloth nappy?

TinySalmon · 13/06/2016 20:49

puppythedog yes, cloth nappies over here! I was mostly in cloth nappies as a baby except when I was in childcare/nursery. Planning to put my bub in cloth nappies. Good for environment and their little bums to breathe.

puppythedog · 13/06/2016 20:57

tinysalmon we've been using eBay cheapie pockets with Dd1 but they started leaking a couple of months (maybe 5) ago so we have had a break with disposables but now building a collection of more expensive ones to use with her and then can use the cheapies with Blast when they turn up :-)

Theaks · 13/06/2016 20:58

Yes I'm hoping to use cloth nappies. I have ordered my free starter kit of dotty bots cloth nappies from my council. Can't wait for them to arrive.

becciandbump · 13/06/2016 21:23

I can't imagine cloth nappies having to put dirty ones back in your bag to take home to wash when u are out and about during the day!! Think they are better for the environment tho if you can cope with them x

I really intended to use cloth with ds1 and bought all the stuff but then I was a bit Rubbish and never really got to grips with it, and ended up using pampers. It does seem like a great option for those who can stick with it though, you must save loads in the long run!

TipBoov · 13/06/2016 21:47

No, disposables only here! I think they can look cute, but I really cannot bear the thought of all that scraping (Envy), rinsing and washing on top of everything else that comes with a baby!

Also, a freind mentioned that a couple of babies she came across at baby groups that wore reusables always stank of pee, and I can't shake that thought off now Grin

BristolLFR · 13/06/2016 21:51

I hadn't even thought about that becci! Urgh. I wanted to do cloth, but that's just put me right off. Maybe do disposables if you know you're going to be out...

lilydaisyrose · 13/06/2016 22:17

You use flushable liners!

MrsJoJo · 13/06/2016 22:28

Cloth all the way here! DS (now 8) wore Tots Bots with Motherease wraps... From about 8 weeks to potty trained we barely used disposables. He was potty trained months ahead of his peers and I had fewer leaks (so in some ways, less laundry) than most people.

My (ex)H initially thought I was bonkers but they were fantastic. Now expecting #2 with DP I've already looked at Tots Bots to build a new stash (sold my old ones as ex made it clear more babies weren't on his agenda).

Use liners so poo just drops off into the loo, remove/prevent smells with vinegar in your wash. Simple!!

puppythedog · 14/06/2016 02:03

Sat with DD on my lap hoping she falls asleep properly so I can go back to my own bed :-)
We didn't start cloth for six weeks with her to give us the best chance of sticking with it.
It just didn't seem that hard although sluicing can be grim. Liners definitely help with that.

ermmm · 14/06/2016 02:17

Lazy Mum here-,read up loads on cloth when dc were little and in a size 4/5 but the whole thing seemed a bit too much for me so just went ahead with getting them potty trained as earliest as possible. this time round going disposable - already struggle keeping up with the luandry can't be adding to it with nappies aswell as newborns extra

flyawayblue · 14/06/2016 07:32

We used disposable last time. I've always been interested in cloth but DH isn't and we only have a small two bed flat so didn't want the added hassle. If we move I'd be interested in trying this time.

SouthDownsSunshine · 14/06/2016 08:20

We use disposables for dd. I meant to try cloth but the first 4 months with dd were so tough we couldn't face anything extra. Now dd is doing giant toddler wees I'm tempted by cloth for her as apparently they can hold more.

To be honest, dh is a bit rubbish with tidying up and washing so I think we'll stick with disposables for this baby!

rainfall my consultant's appointment is in September! Seems ages away. But they get you in quicker if needed - my 20 week scan is now with a consultant.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 14/06/2016 08:57

Thank you Southdown my 20week is with the same consultant who found all the problems with my daughter and I am finding that really hard to deal with. I have not seen the consultant since my DD was born. It's going to bring up so much emotion.

But this other appointment is with a different consultant at a totally different hospital it's all confused me.

billabye · 14/06/2016 09:07

Is anyone else still taking their folic acid? I'm 14+1 but still have over 3 weeks worth left of the pack I was prescribed. They make me feel sick so don't want to be taking them for the sake of it.

lilydaisyrose · 14/06/2016 09:09

I was prescribed the 5mg of folic acid and am still taking them (am 14+4) - have about 2w worth left.

billabye · 14/06/2016 09:43

I'm also on 5 mg. I'll just keep going with them

Thisisbonkers · 14/06/2016 12:22

Disposables all the way here. I want an easy life.

I had a dream last night about a poo filled nappy Confused I can't remember what flavour the baby was though so no use as a premonition!

firawla · 14/06/2016 12:23

I'm just gonna keep taking mine for the sake of it since I have some left in the pack!

TipBoov · 14/06/2016 12:44

I'm just taking a multivit with folic acid, so I'll keep taking it throughout pregnancy.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having crazy dreams. Last night I woke up at 2am thinking there were slugs in the bed, then at 6am telling DH not to swap DS's bedroom with his office because it's too dark Confused

StubbleTurnips · 14/06/2016 13:28

We should really do some cloth nappies as our black (rubbish) bin is going to every 3 week collection, so I can't imagine the volume of nappies that will be in it. The council doesn't do a collection service either, but like This I want an easy life!!

It's going to be a nightmare Angry

Theaks · 14/06/2016 14:48

This headache can do one! Anyone else getting headaches all the time now?

Theaks · 14/06/2016 14:51

I'm still taking my folic acid. I got one with the vit d in it from boots. So will just continue. Can't do any harm. Got a little sample of pregnacare but never used that and bought my own. Strange I know I'm being really silly but I used that with both my miscarriages so think I wanted to get something different.
