Morning!
It's horrible here, cold & sleeting. Had a rotten night with insomnia then dd started wailing at 3am. Thank goodness it's her nursery afternoon so i can have a wee snooze.

PMSL at the ironing in the boot thing, hilarious! I don't think I'm alone in feeling totally pregnant from head to toe now AND I think I'm starting to waddle.

MIAM I think ds' diet seems OK, dd is a reasonable eater but limited in what she'll have, I think she'd happily live on baked beans & yoghurt if I let her. I try to keep sweet stuff to a minimum though - if she asks for a bicuit she gets an oatcake - as I reckon that makes her more likely to eat fruit. Veggies are very limited - peas & baked beans mainly. I make my own chicken nuggets & she seems to like them. Could you give him sweet potato instead of normal potato as it's more nutritious?

Can't remember what else I was going to post. Need to eat.....

BigOnion · 18/01/2007 08:12

...slobber...chomp...slobber...
mmm this fruit isn't as tasty as the chocolate I nibbled last time
oh well they'll never notice

geordiemacminx · 18/01/2007 09:15

I was going to buy it last week, then did a search on all the other things!!

You manage to get to work today with the snow?

I think we should plan a wee trip into glasgow one afternoon to do some impractical cute clothes buying!! When do you finish again?

Liath how's things over there? To be honest I would rather have a wee bit of snow than the gail force winds that they are getting down sarrrffff!!!

Is anyone else starting to get a really hairy tummy??? I look like a troll

eca · 18/01/2007 09:39

Ahh, big onion, welcome to our thread >

Do you think we are the only thread to have our own dog on??

Pesha · 18/01/2007 09:51

Ive spent many an evening sat with a pair of tweezers plucking my tummy!! And is it just me (pleeease dont say it is!) but does anyone else get the urge to doodle on or decorate their tummy from time to time? Sat there with this great big tummy in front of me I just wanna get a big marker pen and draw a smiley face on it or someting! I haven't yet though!

Birdiebump - is that really true about the sperm?! Cos dp seems to get me pg at the drop of a hat (or a pair of knickers! ) and as we dont want anymore babies, if thats true im definitely gonna have to become a spitter! And if i do get broody again and want another it would make a very good bargaining tool

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 18/01/2007 10:03

pmsl re sperm and trimming belly hair

I DON'T WANT TO GO TO WORK!

geordiemacminx · 18/01/2007 10:18

I had to give up plucking ingrown hairs in bikini area last night... I just couldnt reach!!!1

claricebean · 18/01/2007 10:34

Hi everyone,

Well have finally got to the end the thread. What an epic.

maveta - the spanish are funny about the hospital thing, aren't they? i got lucky when i had ds that ther was no one sharing my room after the birth (2 beds in room). but i know from other friends that if someone's in there, they have the world and his wife visiting all the time. it seems like everyone you've ever met is welcome. aaahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

but like someone said about italian hospitals, they do rely on a lot of family help. when dh broke his foot he went to casualty in the middle of the night (broke it playing football that evening). i stayed at home because we didn't want to wake the kids and he took a taxi. the nurses wheeled him round in a chair for x rays, plastering etc, then took him to the front door and said - right, we need our chair back now. he asked if they had any crutches and they told him he'd have to go to a different building in town the next day to get them!!! they also told him not to put ANY weight on the plastered foot. so he had to hop all the way to the taxi rank which took him about half an hour. i woke up at four with the sound of someone squeakily hopping down our hall. hilarious (for me anyway). obviously he should have had several relatives to help him home!

well, we had an early start here as i had to take DD1 to dentist because she has a hole in the back of a baby molar. poor thing. she was in agony while they filled it, and of course i had the other two with me too as dh away. think that's put them all off dentists for life!!

now trying to have a relaxing morning although DS desperate to go to the park. have palmed him off with lego.

hope you're all well. i feel HUGE. cannnot see where 11 weeks of growth are going to fit.

1b3 - sorry you didn't get to see the sexes, but dts sound v sweet all curled up together.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 18/01/2007 10:50

Welcome BigOnion, lovely to have a more hairy poster than us!
GMM, my tummy is quite hairy too . I see it as a protective layer for the bunp! Not attractive though!

The weather darn sarf is dreadful - the wind is wild - up to 90 miles an hour in some places. In fact, dh's work has no electricity because of the wind, so he is heading home. Sadly, I am at work, and bored rigid again!

Had a heck of a morning. Got up to find none of the plug sockets worked - i.e. no kettle, toaster etc. Spent an hour trying to fathom out what was wrong, and it seems to be the ruddy boiler that trips everything out. So, no heating or hot water for us at the moment. JOY! Hopefully the plumber will be over this afternoon, but I am not banking on it.

How is everyone else today? I feel less coldy today, but dd is a bit under the weather with a crappy cough. Dosed her up with Calpol and sent her off to preschool anyway - naughty mummy! Hope she is ok.

Right, better get on. See you later ladies.

Katy44 · 18/01/2007 10:58

I feel awful with this cold. Is there a chance that bump has got it too - that would make me feel dreadful! Or is she protected from my bugs? Sorry if that's a really stupid question!

flumppootle · 18/01/2007 11:06

Morning all

Sol, what a nightmare. Nothing working in this weather. Your lo is probably warmer at pre-school you good mummy! Was it you that had asked about the Picasso?

Katy, bump will not have your cold. Its just you that will feel like absolute pants. Its nice and cosy and happy in there Hope it passes quickly for you.

Claricebean - so admire your ability to cope with three dcs on your own for so long. I have three dcs aswell and dh is away for next week - cue meltdown at flumps house! Any tips?

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 18/01/2007 11:06

Katy, baby will be fine. Seems loads of people are unwell at the moment. Hope you feel better soon.

Katy44 · 18/01/2007 11:07

Thanks

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 18/01/2007 11:08

Flump, thank you for pointing that out re warmth at preschool - you are quite right! Fortunately, it is quite warm weather here, but our house is quite a cold one which is great in the Summer. It was me that was asking about the Picasso - do you have one?

Good luck for the week without dh. Do you have any family close by that can help?

flumppootle · 18/01/2007 11:15

Sol I have no family near at all. Mum and dad are in Australia visiting my sisters and MiL and Fil live in the north of Scotland. I am normally fine when he is away but I think being pg with No4 and trying to sell a house/buy a house is all getting quite alot to cope with on my own.

I had a Picasso until october when we had to change it for a bigger car - had run out of seats for bean .
I had mine for three years and would have run it until it died if I could. I loved it, it was so practical and much easier on my back getting dcs in and out. The big selling point for us was it has three proper seats in the back with three point seat belts. I had three car seats in the back no problem. The only down side to the car is that it is quite heavy to drive and has a turning circle like a taxi. Oh yeah MASSIVE boot

LOL at tummy hair

Birdiebump · 18/01/2007 11:17

Good morning everyone!

A quick post because I really have tons of work to do today - will try and check back this pm .

SPERM THING - as far as I know this is true - I'm pretty sure I got it from some reputable source but don't ask me what!!

Katy - the reason you are so poorly is because baby is stripping all your defences - so she will be fine !

HAIRY TUMMY - I only found out I had one this morning, when the midwife was looking at it and I noticed a few stray hairs that had escaped my attention.....

I was talking to BBCFK about this yesterday.... Saw my midwife this morning and LO's growth has caught up and even gone one centimetre ahead at the moment! It looks as though right now she is breech but nothing to worry about at this early stage. Everything else appears to be fine with her but I may well have a urine infection (no symptoms but blood & protein in urine) so might need to go on antibiotics straight away. Did you know a urine infection can bring on early labour ???? I don't feel worried though, somehow. Just glad baby is fine. No scan warranted of course!

And it looks like I don't have a prayer of giving birth in the midwife unit and will have to go to our scuzzy old hospital! Will get a transfer within hours of the birth, hopefully.

That's all for now!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 18/01/2007 11:21

Oh flump, you have got your hands full. Any friends/neighbours that can help out? God, I complain when dh is away for a night, and I only have 1 lo.

Can you bribe them to be extra good for you!!??

Thanks for the note re the Picasso. I really like them, and am going to arrange a test drive. My dad thinks they are unreliable though for some reason, although What Car seems to think they are ok.

I have a Golf, which is fine, but I would like to be higher up for getting lo's in and out.

flumppootle · 18/01/2007 11:27

it was the most reliable car that we have ever had (including current one with ironing in the boot). No problems in the entire three years, but I guess that all cars are unique with different histories etc. Always a bit of a gamble though.

Love the gadget doors on yours 1B3 - your dts sound SO cute

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 18/01/2007 11:28

Hi Birdie, sorry to hear about your possible urine infection - hope the antibiotics kick in soon. At least we get them free of charge at the mo!

So, where do you line then? Which school did you go to?

Sorry, am a right old nosey bat!
