SOH he he he re large swimsuit. So right.

12yg thanks for the adaptors link. Going to have to investigate this further. Can't tell from any websites if any seat will fit onto the P&T without adaptors...

For those who are tired of buggy talk - name talk instead?

notsolilKel · 22/01/2007 15:24

OK, the P&T 'bebe' carseat (not to be confused with Bebe Confort seats) requires an adaptor to fit on the P&T buggy. Therefore we'll get the maxicosi seat and use adaptors to fit it, since we need adaptors anyway... phew.

twelveyeargap · 22/01/2007 15:25

Poor SOH with the cravings. How about ordering some? I heard about this place on Womens Hour the other week. Grasmere

Scooter, if you're in Muswell Hill anytime that I am not stuck in boring office, I would be very glad to meet up. Bugger about the NVQ.

Sorry, lilKel, I should have said. I love Charlotte. I wonder if Sienna might seem dated when Sienna Miller is no longer famous? However, as it is both a colour and place, I suppose that's not too much of a consideration. I really like it anyway, regardless of fashion.

SOH,it wasnt a very nice sort of a horn anyway..I will go back out to the bakers and get you a gingerbread man.Even though there is a biting wind here and Ive no gloves...(my water bottle leaked on them this morning)

Maxi cosi is certainly my swimming costume. It was a cheap one from Tescos and its gone a bit saggy now its trying accomodate my bump.I shall be too ashamed to go to Aquanatal in it.Everyone there has proper maternity ones which I cant be bothered to buy just to last a few months. And I wouldnt even attempt a bikini.Too gross on me.

Dont worry tyg-Its comforting to know someone else has had similar and all is now well. Its just that dd has been a very easy baby till now, never at the dr etc, (except the time she scalded her hand on some molten baked beans but that was her slummy mummys negligent fault).Im just a bit overwhelmed by the thought of months of all this, plus trying to work and the new baby and dh starts night college again next week which means he isnt around at all and is like a bear with a sore head when he is as he has work to do.His last exam of this session is scheduled for my due date so im praying this baby is late or it will be a bit of a mare..

Ive an appointment tomorrow with the consultant regarding my 3rd degree tear when I had dd.I dont really know what they want to see me about?Has anyone any ideas? Will they say I cant deliver naturally do you think?(she says half hopefully-I didnt enjoy labour much last time)

notsolilKel · 22/01/2007 15:37

12yg - thx - actually we liked Sienna because of Siena, Italy...special meaning to us on honeymoon. But I know the Miller factor will tarnish things a bit. I was just wondering how much...

Ladies in need of cheering up who are without gingerbread men, try this link for a laugh...

I'm off to midwife appt tomorrow too, to discuss my previous labour. Only difference is I'm planning a section as I'm too traumatised by DS's birth to try natural again. If it's what you want, you can have it...

scootermum · 22/01/2007 15:38

I like Siena as well.
Im stumped for a name.My first dd is called Lily and I want something that sounds nice with that..Lily and ....?
Would another flower name be too twee?Daisy? Or I quite like Violet..(Lily and Violet were the first two old people I ever looked after and they were both sweethearts- the first old man I had to look after was called Algenon Bevan though so thankfully its not a boy!)Or I was thinking about May if its born in May, or perhaps with a different spelling...No doubt dh will hate all of the above..

twelveyeargap · 22/01/2007 15:40

Oh man, I can't even write a post without forgetting something.

SOH - All free pushchairs are better than any other - particularly when new So whatever is in the attic, you'll love! Plus, if for any reason you really took agin' it, you can sell and purchase something second hand with the cash.

Which reminds me, my friend had a GORGEOUS Silver Cross sleepover classic - the nearest thing to one of the old fashioned ones I suppose. Her parents bought it for her for her last child, now almost 3. Her SIL (with whom she does not get on AT ALL) is now pregnant and her DH gave the pram to his sister, without asking if my friend minded! (She did. She has her own sisters and hasn't decided about whether to have more kids anyway.) I'm so livid on her behalf. The first she heard of it was when her DD2 was crying as her dad took it out the door and said she was too big for it. Boo, silly man.

I'm sooo forgetful. Took me almost an hour to leave the house on Sunday as I'd go to leave and then realise I didn't have my diary with the fridge measurements in it. Then go to leave and realise I'd put the A to Z down somewhere. Get that, realise I'd forgotten the measurements for the blinds, put down the map, get measurements, get to car, realise map is still in house... And so on. When I finally got back home, I realised I'd bought the blinds without actually checking if the drop was long enough. Doh. Luckily they are. Phew.

planning a section you say?I didnt know that was allowed...I will ask them tomorrow if its an option..but then not sure about the recovery-would it be worse of two evils...Remind me I said that as im screaming for an epidural and it turns out im only 2cm dilated.(because thats not what happened with dd or anything...ha, little did I know what was to come!I would've laughed in the face of those first contractions instead of crying like a sap on the floor).

twelveyeargap · 22/01/2007 15:44

Siena spelt Siena, rather than Sienna like Ms Miller, would negate the "fame" thing, wouldn't it?

I like Lily May. The two names "go" together.

This buggy debate gets more confusing by the day. Why oh why do i keep looking at them. I thought i wanted urban detour twin but have also looked at the M&P aria . Am undecided on the P&T, but it does look fab in apple Scooter. Pebble, lovely choice of pram as well. Also really like this the new maclaren MX#3 i know its single chair, but i like it! Dh thinks we could get a side car attachment. although i think it looks funny buggy pod

aprilmeadow · 22/01/2007 15:56

have just been showing dh all the different buggies and he loves the p&t in apple. I guess that makes the most sense as J wont be in a buggy for much longer and the others that i like are quite bulky and would require a change of car to make them fit in the boot!

scootermum · 22/01/2007 15:56

Yes, SOH, TYG is right. The one we got for dd was great in the end and plus no one else had it so it was a curiosity in a good way..(I know this and still I want a new buggy for the new baby and dd to ride in..Maybe because we arent having anything else new as its still all pretty newish from dd I guess..)
O yes you asked about nice things about girls..I was in shock re dd being a girl as I was convinced she was a boy all along and was even calling the bump Noah.I am really not a girls girl as a rule, (all but two of my mates are boys for eg, I just seem to get on with boys better, with the exception of on here of course!) but I have been really surprised about how well dd and I are bonded, (sorry to sound a bit new agey)as I was concerned about that when I found out she was a girl...I am dreading it when she (well both)get to be teenagers though as I was a terror and they are bound to take after me..I think you will just love her when she arrives like I did with dd and wont give it another thought till the next one!Now she is one and a bit she has started giving her Daddy really comical looks when he is being stupid as if to say, 'silly man'.Its quite nice to have some female solidarity in the house..

notsolilKel · 22/01/2007 15:58

I'm not sure about this "sidecar" buggy idea either. Looks to me like a funny addition...

If you want a c-section, I'm told you can have one. I spoke with my Gp about it first. With my history she said no problem. Recovery from sections needn't be that bad - search threads for stories - it helps. My recovery from natural birth was a total nightmare anyway!!! (mind still not recovered actually)

Other names I love for girls: Vivian, Scarlett, Anastasia, Nina, Zoe, Tatiana, Eva, and Jasmine.

Lily & Jasmine????

aprilmeadow · 22/01/2007 16:03

i think the side car is pretty awful. looks hideous. Looks like the P&T is the 'one' . Dh wanted a 3 wheeler when we got ds's buggy so i guess i should let him choose this time. Thought he might bulk at the price, but was pretty ok about it.......

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2007 16:19

Am back from freezing school run, need gloves and hat. Heating on and kids in front of tv. No chance of going out to play, they would all turn in to icicles.

Im glad there are adaptors for the phil and teds as i want a maxi cosi car seat to go on the little quinny i just got and on the phil and teds i have. £20 is alot though!!!

I love the name Violet, it sounds sooo lovely with Lily too. Siena also very nice, sod the celeb pack i dont know any Siena's or Sienna's for that matter.

Scooter i had a third degree tear when i had dd after the twins. The twins were a section. It was very bad, got infected and i could not move properly for ages, worse than the section. She was also a very long labour (op position) and got stuck at the end and then came out eventually with her hand up to her face and head circumference of 36.5, that is v big in baby head terms. Having said all of that there was nooooo way i was having another section or going in to hospital for the next baby. The hospital consultant did go mad, but i stood my ground. I had ds#3 at home, i had to be stitched afterwards but not as badly as dd. Then ds#4 was at home too, only a few stitches that time. Having had a section and a very bad tear i would still choose the labour and vaginal delivery. At least you have a chance of a good recovery and long term outcome with a natuaral birth, with a section you know you are going to be out of action for longer and it's not so good if you want more children. Sections are worth it only if there is no other choice, this evens out the risks. Be brave scooter, it does hurt but not forever, and dont let the consultant bully you.

Im a bit fanatical about this too, can you tell

twelveyeargap · 22/01/2007 16:35

Did I mention my baby likes the White Stripes? Was playing Seven Nation Army in the car yesterday and the bassline seemed to get her. She went beserk! Glad she has good taste.

TYG - very nice taste indeed. I sing to 'bean' some evenings and she kicks alot more when i do. I am a trained singer but I haven't done anything professionally for a while so I really hope it's kicks of boogying not shut up mum you sound like shit!

cinnamontam · 22/01/2007 16:50

Scootermum - what about Poppy? I had Matilda picked years ago and then my Mum suggested Poppy and I was very tempted.

ShowOfHands · 22/01/2007 17:04

Hands up who thinks Jelly and Cinnamon are the same person? Very strange...

Scooter don't worry about the gingerbread man m'dear. I wouldn't have you going out in the cold just for my gingerbread man. DH will do it later.

I don't know anything about my pushchair other than it's a system thing with carseat, pram and pushchair and lots of those envelope/pouch type things (snuggles or some such other word) for putting the child in and it's made by Silver Cross. And it's new. Descriptive, huh?

Ooh it's 5pm it's HOME TIME!!

Cinnamontam and Jellybellybump, there's nothing wrong with single white femaling a fellow mumsnetter - I've been doing it to JonahB for ages...erm, I mean, by coincidence I happen to live in the same town and be due the same time as JonahB and shop in the same supermarket, and drink in the same cafe, and oooooooh, I've jsut bought myself a lovely purple coat, and a black and white pram and ...... (just kidding JonahB!!!!!!)

LGT, definitely sounds food related, I had a good puke after a Chinese takeaway on Saturday that was perfectly fine with everyone else, I think when you're pg your body just takes against things sometimes for some reason. Did you ring the mw, or did you decide against it?

There are some lovely names being mentioned on this thread. We have had our names chosen for a while, so naturally, I am having second thoughts about them. We have tried to choose to go with DS's name as well, which is hard. We have two middle names for a girl (our DS has two, and we wanted them to be the same) which are both our mum's middle names, but no middle names at all for our boy. We suffered the problem just after we had DS of naming him something lovely and unusual without being outlandish and then a new and very popular character in Eastenders coming into the show, and the name shooting up the popularity charts, and people asking if we had named him after the character, grrrr.... As a teacher, I'm also keen not to call him/her a name that there will be loads of in the class, even though I love Grace, Olivia, Jack, Thomas etc. It's a hard decision really, and now I'm kind of liking Matilda (is drawn into the May 07 Matilda coven)

DH off to London again today, but hopefully home by Wednesday this week, so should be ok. How long until maternity leave...?

cinnamontam · 22/01/2007 17:28

Ahh - maternity leave! I still have 14 weeks to go. Arghhhhhhh

aprilmeadow · 22/01/2007 17:34

FSF - where are you today? Hope all is ok
