I didnt eat anything till about 10, it was crackers and brie but the brie was made from Pasteurised milk. I had roast chicken at about 2.30, but everyone did and they seem ok. Thank you for hugs xxxx

I feel ok now and the toast seems to have gone down fine too. Baby still going crazy in there. He doesnt sleep much, hope it's not a sign of things to come!

SOH can i have your email, i would like your address (not in weird stalker way i promise!) Heeee, heeee. Have you come to terms with pink yet? I told Phin and she said "seeeeee mommy, everyone has girls except you..." >

Am goig to veg on the couch till toddlers at 1pm, am whacked form all the jumping out of bed nightmare last night. Hugs is watching CBeebies (bad mommy)

ShowOfHands · 22/01/2007 10:36

Course you can have my email and I'll give you a prize if you can guess my name from it:

rhonda peak at hotmail dot co dot uk

It's a tricky one isn't it??

Glad you are feeling better. If you have any more pains then call the midwife . My friend had braxton hicks from 24weeks with her third, it's not that is it? I know the pains don't sound quite right for bh but by about 28 weeks she had nights where she was convinced she was in early labour.

I got up to go to the loo at 3am this morning (I think we were all up!), swung my legs out of bed, stood up and fell flat on my face (DH didn't even open his eyes but grunted 'Wombat stop it'- Wombat, may I point out, is one of our cats). My right leg was completely dead. It woke up by about 5am starting with shooting pains through my thigh. Well, that'll be sciatica then. Ho hum, all good fun.

Still not quite accepted the inevitability of the pink but I'm getting used to it. I told my Dad we're having a pink one and he got quite emotional and said not to worry about it as he loved having his little girl. Aah!

Anyway, feel free to email and I'll let you have my current address although I'm hoping to move some time in the next decade (ARE YOU LISTENING NUMPTOID VENDOR?!?!).

Mmm, bacon sandwiches in staff restaurant. Tempting...

twelveyeargap · 22/01/2007 10:48

Poor, poor LG&T. Since you mentioned having terrible heartburn, I'm really hoping it's just scary indigestion or something simple. Please let us know how you are.

Welcome back Jess. We keep wondering where you disappear to. I hope you're feeling better.

Lupins PLEASE go to the dentist. If your tooth is cracked, there is far more chance you will get a nasty abcess. I'm not saying this to deliberately scare you, but if you get an abcess, you'll need to take strong anti-biotics and have the work done on it anyway. I'm sorry, but I don't believe for a second that it will last for 4 or 5 months. I've had this happen to me twice in the past...

Congratulations on all the pink ones. SOH - they'll be girly if they want to be. I think a lot is nature, not nurture. My mum bought be Scalectrix cars and a Fisher Price garage and all I wanted were dollies. However, having seen DH's nephews in action, (sounds weird saying "my nephews" as I'm an only child) and seeing how boistrous and noisy they are, I was SO glad I was having a girl. Plus, DD1 was a really easy placid baby and toddler and well, all the time really. I couldn't have been luckier with her. And although she's quite girly and owns loads of hair stuff and play make up; she's actually not that interested. Has always worn jeans and things and only dresses up for parties.

Hope that allays your fears a bit!

That's so spooky InTheseShoes and JonahB! I'm finding this all facinating.

Drop us a line later, won't you LG&T?

Oh meant to say about pushchairs. Looked at the iCandy Apple at the weekend. Although it's very lovely, you have to take the seat off to fold it. I know with a carrycot you usually have to, but it's a two handed fold as well, so I don't know what you'd do with the baby, trying to fold the chassis, whilst also holding the seat??

Lady in the nice independent local shop I was in said she didn't think they'd be particularly sturdy either. Had a look at a mountain buggy as well. She'd sold the display model of the Urban single to someone earlier so will go back to see it, but looking at the other mountain buggy models, like the Urban twin and I'm really tempted. They're quite bulky when folded, but you can find out the folded dimensions to check it will fit in your boot. I know they'll fit in a VW Golf - I read that on a review. The MB Urban has a locable swivel front wheel so it's good for "fairly" bumpy ground (maybe like your disused railway TooManyProjects) and suitable to jog with, but not for regularly trekking around woods and muddy fields, for example. You need a fixed front wheel for that. The MB has a carrycot available, comes iwth car seat adaptors to fit a MaxiCosi Cabrio and is a one handed fold, inc with seat on. Lady in the shop said that she has customers who have used them for three different children as they're so sturdy. You can use a buggy board or similar with them.

Am going to go and look at the Hauck Infinity at the weekend, and will go back to the other shop to see the MB Urban (single) in action, but have a feeling I'll be going with the MB. I was drawn to the reviews of this one from the very start. Main drawbacks appear to be the bulkiness when folded, and the fact that the basket is small.

LG+T, glad it's all calmed down now - must have been so frightening esp. when you're on your own.

Regarding all the pink ones - we're having a girl and have a DD aged 6 and DS aged 4. Although DS is very boisterous and a typical "boy", have to say that DD is much harder to deal with - fine until she was nearly two then bang I wondered what has hit me! She is permanently "stressed out" and won't be reasoned with - this morning she refused point blank to go for a wee before leaving the house (not been since last night) and then complained of a tummy ache on the way to school. She delights in gets her brother wound up like a spring and knows exactly which buttons to press to wind me up - just a "look" if you know what I mean.
DH says she's inherited it from me - thanks - hoping it's more of a first born thing or just "her" rather than the fact she's a girl. Hoping for a calm placid number three.

We half finished another "project" at the weekend - knocked down a rotten shed (only one more to do) and had a big bonfire which lasted for hours. My back is suffering this morning. Building work starts in two weeks - in a fit of "it's a drop in the ocean compared to the extension" we have booked a skiing holiday to Austria and fly out on Sunday. I won't be skiing (can't get my saloppettes on anyway!) but hoping to chill out and wander around and have my meals cooked for me.

Back to a mountain of paperwork - I'm a Parish Clerk working from home and have got a stack to do this week. I know it sounds very dull but it is a welcome change from everything else sometimes!

scootermum · 22/01/2007 12:21

Hi all,

Sorry for not being on for a week or so-thankyou for being concerned!DD had a fit last Sunday night at midnight and then a few more last week so was off all week looking after her.She was very hot and every four hours has just screamed and screamed because she was just boiling. They think it is a virus but have don tons of tests to see what exactly..Anyway she is on the mend now thank God as she has some meds to take but it hasnt been a good week in the scooter house at all.Have just read your bits pebble-im sorry to hear that about your ds.Im wondering abut epilepsy for dd too but they say becuase she is so little its impossible to say..Im hoping they were just febrile fits but cant be sure-ruddy scary anyway..She is due her jabs-her MMR, this week.I am in two minds anyway about this, and was thinking about paying to get them done seperately, (which I know it probably being ridiculous and over reactionary but NB I am paranoid for England about everything,) but I think I will postpone it till she is fully better..

So other news-in the middle of all that went for my scan-baby fine, just very lazy with the not moving.Another little lady for us!Wasnt bothered ether way but economically this is great as I wont need to buy any new clothes or sheets or move house as the girls (!) will be sharing a nursery. The scan picture cost £6 at Harlow hopsital.I was outraged by that!In London with dd it was only £2.Bought it obviously but still...

Re buggys-does anyone have a Phil and Teds?Because I was looking in the catologue and thought I quite fancied it but I cant work out where the new born baby goes when the toddler is in the seat.It appeared to be tucked underneath with no way of actually seeing it?Anyone know?
(Never mind that I bought a double stroller from a closing down sale the other week for £70 only which will be perfectly fine-now I want a posher new one which we of course we cant afford at all..I did this with dd as well as we got an excellent second hand bebecar one for £100-and then I spent the rest of the time wishing I had bought a new one for no reason whatsoever)

I am starving and like an idiot left my lovingly crafted sandwich at home in the fridge this morning.Gutted and its so cold here that I dont want to walk to Sainsburys for another.
Bought a bargainous coat from Topshop sale at the weekend as well. Its a size 16, which is 2 sizes too big but I was so fed up of not having a coat to go round bump, and this one does up at least, though just look like a Michelin man on rest of body..£30 though for lovely thick light blue duffel so you cant complain..
Am off to wrap it round me and buy copious sandwiches and chocolates to pep me up..Anyone want anything whilst im out?

ShowOfHands · 22/01/2007 13:13

Scootermum it's lovely to have you back. Your poor little DD. I'm glad she's on the mend. Tell me lovely things about girls (still in shock after finding out I'm having one too).

I'd love a gingerbread man while you're out!

JonahB · 22/01/2007 13:14

LG&T, how frightening for you! Like everyone has said, it sounds like it?s food-related, but for peace of mind, go and see your MW.

SOH, I shouldn?t laugh and I?m very, very sorry, but LOL?s at your sleepy DH thinking you crashing to the floor was your cat! You must have a very heavy cat (not implying you are heavy, you understand). At that point, the temptation to pick myself up the floor and thump sleeping DH would be almost too much to bear.

Scooter, on the P&H, the youngster does go underneath, you?re right. The lady in the shop told me in that ?I get asked this by every paranoid parent, thus I am going to tell them what they want to hear YET again? voice that they can see perfectly well to each side. Personally, I?m not convinced. I?m also the clumsiest buggy driver and every time I crashed over yet another kerb, poor LO2 would get it in the spine

ShowOfHands · 22/01/2007 13:28

It's not so much that the cat's heavy it's that she sneaks into the bedroom at night, pulls things off the dresser and rearranges/chews/hides them. On a very adventurous night she can pull down the lamp and move it into the spare room. I sat and watched her one day as she moved all of the clean laundry behind the washing machine (in a backward walking dragging type fashion). She's a thief and prone to pulling very heavy breakable things down off any high surface.

Still not remotely comparable to your dw falling over at 3am and if my leg had been functioning properly I'd have kicked him with it!

LG&T, where are you? Are you alright?

JellyBellyBump · 22/01/2007 13:28

Hello again all, Finally got some time at work so i can properly introduce myself. I live in SW London with DH and 2 very spoiled cats. It's our 1st and I'm due on 27 May. Although they changed it from 30 May to 27th on my 13 weeks scan, and last week on my 21 week scan they told me i was 22 weeks and 3 days... and according to my DH the babies weight was also a week ahead of my due date. DH reads and remembers all the facts about the weight, length and all other things involved, where as I tend to pay more attention to what new clothes I can buy now that my bump has grown a little. But he's warned my that the baby's weight will double in size over the next 3 weeks so he's banned me from buying any more clothes.

ShowOfHands · 22/01/2007 13:34

Your DH sounds very sweet! Bet he'd notice if you fell over and not blame it on the bloomin' cat...

Welcome again, good to have you on the thread.

JellyBellyBump · 22/01/2007 13:41

My DH was blaming our fatcat for a bad night sleep last night as he thought that she was streched out all over the bottom of the bed but she wasn't moving when he tried to kick her off. It was only in the morning that he found out that it was the pillows that I need to stop my ankles from swelling, he was trying to kick off. He did apologies to the cat though..

twelveyeargap · 22/01/2007 13:46

LG&T has a Phil and Ted's double and loves it. Only getting a lighter pushchair for putting in and out of the car for the school run, I believe. She'll be able to set your mind at ease about the baby underneath. It does look odd, but the HUGE advantage, as far as i can see, is that the "second child unit" comes on and off, afaik, so it doesn't always have to be a double - like for when the older one is big enough to walk or go on a buggy board.

I forgot to say last week, about the fits. I know Pebble, it doesn't apply to you if they're already sure it's epilepsy, but Scooter, my friend's son has had two fits and has been in and out for tests (he's just over a year) and they said they can't find any neurological reason. "Just one of those things." They doubt it will happen again. Likewise, her other son is prone to really high temperatures. He's sometimes had a temp of over 40C/ 105F and been really poorly overnight and then right as rain the next day. Again, absolutely no reason for it and has grown out of them as he's got older. He's now 5.

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 22/01/2007 13:48

Our cats know not to try and sleep on DH's side as he always gets fed up with them and kicks them unceremoniously across the room.

Do you know if you're having a boy or girl? Scans after the 12weeks mark are notoriously inaccurate as all babies grow at such different rates after the placenta takes over so gestational age can be hard to assess. Your first scan is most likely the accurate one of the two.

notsolilKel · 22/01/2007 14:04

Hi all - just a quick reaction if you have a sec - what do you think of the name Sienna? Its rival is Charlotte....

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2007 14:15

Helloooo, im currently stuffing a very large double decker bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich mmmmmm

I sat down with Hugs at 11.30 and the door went, it was my NEW quinny Zapp. It's lovely! It's presents in the post day.

Sat back down with him after making the buggy, putting it up, pushing it round with one of Phin's billions of babies in it, and generally playing with it like a child. Went to sleep and woke at 1.30....starving!

Feeling fine, think i will leave the midwife till Weds when she (i think) has her clinic. I dont want to see the doctor, takes forever.

I do indeed have a phil and teds and love it. The baby sleeps in the seat unit that stays on the chassis permanantly, it just drops down very low. The other seat then attaches to the front of the buggy. If the baby is sat up you just sit the seat unit up and put the detachable seat on the back. Baby very visisble at all times. Very compact to fold for a 3 wheeler and well built. Im sure you can get adaptors to put a maxi cosi carseat on to the chassis too.

Here it is

TYG here is your lovely Urban, very nice too. No room for a second seat though, where is the next baby gonna go?????!!!!!!

love it

notsolilKel · 22/01/2007 14:18

Glad u are feeling better LG&T. Thanks for the P&T info too, we're looking to get one as we've got a 15mo gap. Now the search for the car seat begins...

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2007 14:23

Here is the pram that Pebble is cuurently working on her DH for, how very posh is

THIS

Think she will get it.....of course she will, dont we all get what we want in the end? We just have to convince them it was all their idea

Am still hungry, wish there was some bounty cake left....the buggers ate it all...

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2007 14:30

Lilkel they make a car seat for the phil and teds, its on the bottom of that page in the link and a very reasonable £55!

Who was askinh about the Jane powertwin? Anyway it's lovely to push but not good on kerbs and rough terrain. It is very bulky and heavy too. The new Jane twin 2 is 4 wheeled so way more stable, and much more compact. I linked earlier down the thread to it, on Friday i think. The Jane car seats are lovely, if you have lots of space thay do one that is like a carrycot and lies down to be strapped in and fits on the chassis like that.

Im sounding very sad, am going to stop now....i have got 5 children you know...

notsolilKel · 22/01/2007 14:38

wait don't go yet...i did see that carseat by P&T but wondered if I could use another one, like isofix MaxiCosi? Plus P&T sell a travel system 'adaptor' and I'm unsure if this is required for every car seat or just non-P&T ones... any idea? Thx your expertise much appreciated here! Maybe one day i'll finally sort this stuff out myself (if I ever get to no. 5!)

twelveyeargap · 22/01/2007 15:00

Yes, but LG&T... You can get These fabulous "designer" colourschemes now...

Think you could get away with the Baroque (maybe) and definitely the College for a boy or a girl. Assuming I don't pop another one out too quickly, that is.

Have not discussed this with DH yet, but my idea would be to wait til DD2 is about 2 and then try again. Kind of spread them out a bit, but not tooo much. I wonder if you can just buy new fabric, in which case I could go all girly without being too worried about the cost of then having a boy.

The carrycots are plain, afaik, with these. Just the pushchair is the fancy design. I'm pathetic, aren't I?

OP posts:
scootermum · 22/01/2007 15:02

Nooooo, pelase dissuade me from buying the phil and teds.Say its horrid and the baby is trapped in it invisibly when the bigger child is in it and struggles to breath or somesuch.I cannot afford it!But I WANT it.(in the apple green). And now you say there is a car seat. That fixes on the to the frame...I could chuck dds maxi cosi, just grown out of, and get that instead...Plus matching cocoons to keep them warm..And a sunshade..
SOH-They didnt have any gingerbread men.All they had were some questionable cream horns.Do you want one of those or will I eat yours?

Scampi? Is it allowed for a pg lady or are all prawns off?Ive an unhealthy craving for it and they have it on for tea at the pub next door to our house..

Have just fixed my leaving date for 19th April.50 days and counting...

My NVQ assessor was supposed to come and meet me this afternoon. He has just cancelled.I feel quite aggrieved.I was up all night with dd and whilst trying to cool her down with cold compresses et al was worried to an irrational leavel about what excuse I was going to use for having done no work.I could have worried about something far more worthwile instead if Id known...grr.Like which credit card to put my new apple green buggy on.

tyg-glad to hear your house is taking shape.Am doing an assessment in Muswell Hill on Thurs.V jealous of you living there..might have fits till she's 5 you say.Temps of 40 degrees, (she reached 39 last week which I thought you technically had to be dead to be-whats that you say, dont I work in healthcare?)God help me in that case thats all I can say..im half dead now.Sorry SOH I've had your cream horn to cheer me up whether you wanted it or not..

ShowOfHands · 22/01/2007 15:11

Just as well as I didn't want your bloody cream horn anyway.

My God you lot can talk about wheeled baby transportation. We've been given a brand new thing- not seen it, it's in my parents' loft. It's probably pants according to this hitherto unknown scale of greatness surrounding the buggy world. But I am skinter than a skint thing so twill have to do. I'm far more excited about slings...

Now, who's going to go out and get me a gingerbread man...?

twelveyeargap · 22/01/2007 15:11

Sorry, Scooter. I realise now that I didn't sound very helpful at all. I meant it in an "it's probably not anything really serious, so try not to worry" way. Rather than, "You have all this awful stuff to look forward to." I didn't realise how it sounded. Was trying to be positive! The high temps have happened perhaps 8 times over 5 years, rather than on and off constantly, if you get me.

lilKel, I've found some for P&T carseat adaptors which fit "virutally any carseat". See here You'd just need to check compatablility with the maxi cosi or whichever you want to use. Maxicosi seems to be the standard though, doesn't it?

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 22/01/2007 15:12

Maxicosi sounds like a swimming costume for larger ladies.

I'm sure it's probably a wheeled baby carriage of some sort in truth...
