PotatosMum · 09/05/2016 09:34

Summers here and bumps are busy growing. Scans photos are coming thick and fast and team pink and blue are rampining up their numbers.

We have new grads furiously POAS, second trimesters eager for their bumps and veterans about to embark on trimester 3 and contemplating baby size with mild terror apprehension.

The weathers to hot for comfort and our pregnancy aches, pains and symptoms are getting on our tits literally in some cases !!

All are welcome to TTC#1 grads thread #6

Shelb, Pink, apparently it's part and parcel of being pregnant. I'm drowning in water, peeing every 10 mins and still a swollen ballon by tea time. It's my face and legs mainly. Kicks in from about 5pm every day for the last week now. It's awful but hey ho.
Just another one of those glorious symptoms we know and love.

Third trimester tomorrow EEK!

PotatosMum · 20/05/2016 19:01

Shelb no to the swollen feet. So far I've avoided that symptom but my ankles and wrists are just starting to puff Sad

May spotting is very common, do not Google! Just call your emergency number and speak to a midwife.

No plan B for us, if we don't get this mortgage then we're screwed. I have a couple of options at the back of my head but nothing OH would be happy with Sad

Yay! Stark that's definitely a baby you have there. Are you feeling better now?

Does anyone else suddenly have a very fluffy tummy? It's just very fine light hair but it's suddenly cropping up all over my tummy and boobs Blush I also think my foof hair has gone mad but I can't do anything about that Confused

May glad to hear it.
Apparently according to my SIL whose got 3 kids. She says his is it now, she was swollen her whole third trimester. Where at the moment mine gets worse throughout the day and I'm generally deflated when I wake up, she says that bit stops and you just stay swollen. Ugh.

Tips are to avoid salt and up water intake. I'm still getting calf cramps which can be to a salt deficiency. Can't fecking win. At least I have Sir Dancy Pants keeping me entertained to make up for it.

LisaTheGreek · 20/05/2016 19:04

Bloody hell, Bunch, third trimester! Can't believe it's come round so quickly.

It's like you're actually going to have a baby soon Wink still hasn't sunk in for me that that's what this is all for....

BunchOfBobs · 20/05/2016 19:05

Potato I've had a really downy tummy and face since about 8 weeks . No wonder DH won't come near me Wink I've got my Linea negra too. And thread veins all over the shop. Gawguss I is!

PotatosMum · 20/05/2016 19:06

Woohoo Bunch exciting that you're going to be our first T3!!! ShockGrinStar

I can't believe how long it's been since the first few of us crawled over here... Scary that in 3 months we'll need to start a post natal thread Shock

PotatosMum · 20/05/2016 19:09

Bunch I was looking forward to getting a linea negra but so far no little tummy line for me Hmm

Danni89 · 20/05/2016 19:12

Congrats Stark!!! And yes to the swollen feet/ankles Shelb :(

Just ordered our pram and chicco next to me crib- getting even more real now Grin

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

mayago · 20/05/2016 19:20

Bunch I used to suffer a lot with leg cramps and found a small glass of tonic water (with a slice of lemon or lime for flavour) eased them quite a bit.

Potato I don't have an emergency number to call- I guess this is information you get at booking in? My EPU closes just after mid day, but I think I'm content to go home and put my feet up. If anything happens overnight, EPU is open until 1:30 tomorrow..

3rd trimester seems so very far away!

BunchOfBobs · 20/05/2016 19:22

Potato I've only had my line a week or so and yore two weeks behind me so it may be on its way.

I think new will have hit T3 yesterday but she doesn't post all that often anymore. It's really rather bizarre thinking 12 weeks left.

I've just had a bit of a frank conversation with my BIL regarding first night home. My DPs were going to be dog sitting whilst there main event is occurring and then we come home to them, PIL join the party the next day then all leave 2-3 days later. I'm now thinking I want the first night home alone but it will really hurt my mum I know it will. How on earth do I broach it and what does everyone else plan to do?

Mileymoocow · 20/05/2016 19:22

potato I have a fluffy tummy too! Tho hair growth has slowed right down elsewhere.

Congrats on T3 bunch! I can't believe how quickly this is going!!! Tho it won't feel like that for some of us.

Had lunch with my lovely cousins and my cousins baba. I love him, he's so perfect ❤ she was telling be about her difficult 48 hour labour which I'm seriously hoping doesn't run in the family!!! Got a fair bit of good advice off her and I came away a little happier knowing I'm not the only one who feels totally clueless when it comes to babies as my other cousin is feeling the same.

Pram has arrived so going to have a go at building that after tea. Feeling more content tonight

Mileymoocow · 20/05/2016 19:28

bunch we're going to be strict on visitors as a few members of our family will completely smother us if we aren't and I know I'll just end up getting ratty. We're spending first night on our own and we're having immediate family visiting once we're home and up/dressed etc the next morning. I'm breast feeding so I want baby fed before any visitors come cause I'm not sure I'll be comfortable doing it in front of his family, and my grandad and dad. It will definitely be a "please can you text us to make sure it's suitable before you turn up" kind of thing, but I've been told by a few people that this needs to be done. I'd love to think I'll have the energy to cope with anyone at anytime but in reality I know I won't

PotatosMum · 20/05/2016 19:46

I'm not sure what we'll do about visitors. I did tell OH I didn't want any for a day or two but he was really not on board with that.
I don't really have any family left but I'm worried about his family wanting to come round and in particular DSD wanting to be there and be all over the baby like a rash. I want her to bond with her sister but as I've said before she's very grabby and doesn't really understand the difference between a baby and a doll Confused

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 20/05/2016 19:57

I can imagine that will be tough Potato, do you think OH will want his kids their the same day?
I plan on breastfeeding too Miley, guests are going to be told it's a boob show household so they can decide not to visit until breast feeding is established if that's how they feel. I've had to tel a friend she can't stay as she's visiting from Oz 4 weeks after due date, Pip may only be 2 weeks and I will not be up to hosting guests I haven't seen for 2 years. Family is different.

Dad is still waiting on biopsy results so
I daren't broach this subject with them until their mind is at ease (fx) over that.

The other thing I keep thinking is, it's only 2 days. Surely I can deal with that. Ugh pregnancy/new baby politics!!

Newmrs22 · 20/05/2016 20:35

Ooh I hadn't really thought about visitors. I'm planning on breast feeding too and not massively keen on flashing my boobs at all the grandparents, but hey that's tough. If they don't like it they can stay away.

I reach T3 on Tuesday. Eek can't believe how quickly second tri has gone. I really need to get more prepared. We have a pram and a couple of sleep suits but that's it.

Bunch and other breast feeding planners, are you getting a steriliser and bottle etc just in case?

I have fluffy tummy too, but still no line. I'm sure it will arrive soon Grin

Mileymoocow · 20/05/2016 20:39

new yeah we bought the Philips aren't set when it was on offer. It has a breast pump with it so if all else fails I'll try to express milk. Handy for if I want to go out and leave bubs with daddy

Mileymoocow · 20/05/2016 20:40

Avent not aren't... must learn to proof read

Newmrs22 · 20/05/2016 21:02

Thanks miley. I want to look at breast pumps too. I will be expressing a bit after a while too I'm sure.

I just ate 3 packets of sweets Blush feel slightly disgusting now!

Is anyone thinking about home birth? I met some midwives through work this week and one was chatting to me and suggested it. I hadn't really thought about it, but she was saying basically I could get assessed for it, start off at home and change my mind at any point. I'm a bit unsure though. I like the idea of having medical help available, but equally I hate being poked and prodded and hospital makes me anxious. This could all be irrelevant anyway if my placenta doesn't move and I have to have a c section!

Pinklily1 · 20/05/2016 21:05

Congrats on T3 approaching new and Bunch.

I'm planning on breastfeeding too, if possible. I'll be honest and say i'm not really fussed about doing it, I would have preferred to bottle feed, but OH would like me to try breastfeeding so I will do. We've bought a Tommee Tippee essential starter set of bottles as I will be expressing too, so others can feed baby. I won't be getting my boobs out in front of people but that's just because I'm a bit shy about that. I'm very much of the view that if it bothers other people seeing women breastfeed they just need to get a grip - its completely natural.

In terms of visitors, depending on what time baby comes, my parents and sister/ her family will come to the hospital, or home, depending on where we are (we are a v close family). OH's parents live 2 hours away and would want to stay over if they came up on the first day - OH and I have agreed we want at least a few nights in the house alone with baby, so if his parents want to come up fairly soon after birth, they will need to stay in a hotel. I don't really care what they think - its our first baby and we're sticking to our guns about that.

I don't have a fluffy tummy or a linea nigra yet. I'm sure that will come soon though. I could, however, power a hot air balloon with farts tonight Blush

Mileymoocow · 20/05/2016 21:39

I'm so jealous of your farts, ladies. I don't think I can force any gas past my blocked up bowel!

I'm a bit nervous about hospital visitors, too. I love my grandma so much but she is a lot more smothering than I like. I'm not really a huggy/kissy/needy person, but she is, and I just know she will be there every hour she can be. My mum and dad are fairly considerate so I think they'll understand our need for time alone. OHs mum has taken 2 weeks off work from our due date and I'm really hoping she isn't going to force herself upon us every single day, and it's more to help out etc if and when we need it. To be fair, they're not the type to impose and I don't think we'll have issues with them but it's their first grandchild so god knows! God I sound like such a grump don't I!

Just built the pushchair and we love it! ❤ can't wait to get out and about with baby.

Sodasoda · 20/05/2016 21:52

Wow you lot have been chatty today! Smile

Hooray stark, lovely news! Will you tell people now?

Today I have mostly been guzzling water and wee-ing. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon Sad

Me and DH have already had words about his family visiting as soon as baby pops out! They live about 2 hours away and I know if we let them they'd be on the motorway at the sniff of my water breaking and loitering outside the delivery room - not what I want at all. My family is pretty easy going and, although I know they'll want to visit ASAP, they won't be mortally offended by being asked to give us space. Happy to have visitors at home straight away but want it just to be us at hospital (unless I'm in for a few days in which case fine). Luckily we can't have guests staying as we have a 2 bed flat and the spare room will soon have a cot rather than a sofa bed Smile

shelbTa · 21/05/2016 07:24

Morning ladies

Ive enjoyed a lie in - not! Think those days are gone.

Breast pumps - has anyone / is anyone buying one? I'd like to breast feed and express too so OH take some of the pressure off. Can't decide which pump to go for.

X

leoniethelioness · 21/05/2016 07:40

I've been told you can hire medical grade ones from Boots, shelb, and that these are a lot better. I've not looked into it yet though.

ElleSarcasmo · 21/05/2016 08:21

T3 Bunch and New, home stretch now! Smile

I noticed a darker longer hair on my tummy yesterday (plucked out obviously)-I'm going to be a wookie if this is the start of a furry bump!

DH still hasn't told his mum and sister Confused so I have no idea how they'll react. I wouldn't want people coming to the hospital and definitely not staying overnight but would be happy for people to pop in for an hour or two the next day. Potato it sounds like it's going to be tricky with your DSD.

Bunch do your parents live close by? Could you drop the dog off at theirs?
