Thread #6 - TTC#1 Grads - Sun roasted pregnant ladies

PotatosMum · 09/05/2016 09:34

Summers here and bumps are busy growing. Scans photos are coming thick and fast and team pink and blue are rampining up their numbers.

We have new grads furiously POAS, second trimesters eager for their bumps and veterans about to embark on trimester 3 and contemplating baby size with mild terror apprehension.

The weathers to hot for comfort and our pregnancy aches, pains and symptoms are getting on our tits literally in some cases !!

All are welcome to TTC#1 grads thread #6

Glad you are feeling better still miley enjoy your girls lunch!

I am panicking as I cant get baby to move this morning I know we shouldnt worry too much about patterns till 26 weeks but just wish he would wake up haha!

Ni4444 · 15/05/2016 10:28

Morning ladies, hi Twink my pregnancy twin! I was so glad to get another nice strong BFP this weekend. I think I'll do one every weekend (that's not too neurotic, right?)

In terms of telling people, when have others told? My OH wants to wait til after 12wk scan to tell anyone! But he's not that close to his family, and he doesn't share much with friends... I think I'll tell sister when I see her at 7 weeks, and parents when they come visit at 9 weeks. After that I'll tell anyone, I'm not bothered!! Although work will be after 12wks

Ni4444 · 15/05/2016 10:35

Miley, glad to hear you're back on the food 👍

Nevlet how far along are you? I can't wait til feel movement!... Long way off!

Spent Eurovision watching time checking up birthing centre options near me. Any north or East Londoners care to share their thoughts or experiences of services in these areas? I'm thinking Homerton as I know they've been forced to make a lot of improvements in the past year so I figure they must be on the ball now! Lots of recent good reviews online too. I want to have decided before I see GP in case they try to fob me off to Whipps cross (second choice I think)

Nevlet · 15/05/2016 10:43

Hi ni welcome and congratulations sorry I think I missed you joining this week!

24 weeks... He has now woken up and is beating my insides haha!

How many weeks are you?

Ni4444 · 15/05/2016 11:04

I'm just 5+2 Nev!... A long way to go! Glad your little one is up and making himself known!!

Another question ladies...how far before due date will people start mat leave? Is 10 days/2 weeks the norm?

Laurenrl · 15/05/2016 11:10

Morning !

ni I'm Finishing 4 weeks before as we are moving across the country so will have so much to do

Nevlet · 15/05/2016 11:15

I am starting leave at 33+3 but thats only because I am a teacher and thats the start of the summer holiday! Official start date is on due date as thats first day back in September

Laurenrl · 15/05/2016 11:44

Great timing nev!!

Nevlet · 15/05/2016 11:57

I know lauren am lucky to get the summer off on full pay!

LisaTheGreek · 15/05/2016 15:14

Welcome Twinky, and congrats!

Miley - I've had the same re leg hair. It's growing really slowly and I usually have to keep it at bay very regularly!

Hope everyone is having a lovely sunny Sunday. After some kitchen shopping this morning I'm now watching the football with a Becks Blue (which unfortunately is nothing like my beloved Peroni, which I'm really missing right now).

IndiX · 15/05/2016 15:47

Ni I told my mum the day after my first bfp and the rest of my immediate family later that evening. DH told his immediate family that day too. We told no one else until about 9 weeks when I told my 2 best friends. Everyone else was after the 12 week scan, a lot of people are superstitious or worry something will go wrong. I would've wanted support from my family if worse case did happen so I didn't mind telling everyone early. Do what makes you feel happy, it's exciting news and I know I wanted to tell everyone!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 15/05/2016 16:14

I'm 12+3 and we haven't told a soul ni might tell my dsis after the scan (Friday) if all goes to plan. Depending on the next few weekends I might wait till 15 weeks when it's dms birthday. My bloating has disappeared overthe last few days and I'm a much more normal size/shape again now so I might get away with it.

But then, I've done it again where I set myself a challenge to see how long I can go and am determined I'm going to win against myself. Dh has told his boss he had to take me to the booking in appt scheduled same time as a work meeting and the girl he trains with at the gym just because he was excited I think Grin

leoniethelioness · 15/05/2016 17:18

We told our families immediately after our twelve week scan. I told my direct supervisor about a week later and my closest friends too. I told my team leader at 15 weeks and everyone else at work between 17 and 19 weeks. I shared a simple Facebook status at 20 weeks and now everyone knows! A few people (especially at work) are only just finding out now that I am showing. I'm glad we kept it quiet for as long as we did but I feel a lot happier now our happy news is out in the open.

Bought him some sleepsuits and bodysuits today from Tesco and Marks & Spencer, and have won some cheap ones and a Grobag on eBay! We've given him a name now too. Very excited. Just wish I could feel him move. Anyone else got an anterior placenta? When did you start feeling movements?

PotatosMum · 15/05/2016 17:26

Welcome Twinky congrats Smile

Planet I often draft responses to AIBU and then think better of it but this time I was too cross to stop.

I'm sure your scan will be here before you know it Smile

Bunch the ginger ratty was my heart rat. When I found him in the rescue he'd been dumped on the doorstep of a pet shop, was covered in mites, had respiratory disease and bit anyone who tried to handle him.
I picked him up and he ran up the sleeve of my coat and wouldn't come out again so I decided I'd better take him home. He was always very special and hated everyone except me who he adored. I still miss him.

Miley my hair growth has slowed right down too although I can't say for my foof as I haven't seen it in quite some time! Blush

Ni we waited to tell people until the 12 week scan as after that you're fairly safe.

I think a week or two is norm for starting Mat leave. I'm starting 4 weeks ahead and taking 4 week holiday before as I've got some complications which have and will could make me very uncomfortable and more prone to early labour.

Btw in case you've missed it, I'm a name change. I used to be Runner05.

We spent the day wandering around the garden centre again sitting in the coffee shop eating cream tea but we took DSD again this time. It was kind of amusing. Everything she saw from gardening gloves and seeds to patio furniture and gravel elicited the same response from her... "You should buy this" or "can you but this for me?". She would have bought the entire shop if we had allowed it. In the end though she settled for a massive cream cake lol Smile

Leonie, maybe try lying on your stomach, I don't think I have an anterior placenta however I only feel things really rarely unless I lie on my stomach then I feel her constantly!! Sorry if it doesn't work but might be worth a try

leoniethelioness · 15/05/2016 19:03

Thanks, lauren - I'll give it a go! It should say on your 20 week scan notes if your placenta is anterior/posterior. My sonographer also told me at my ultrasound fortunately, it's not in the way of the birth canal. It just seems to act like a cushion to the little baby's movements, according to Google. I'm 20+4 (I think you're a day or so ahead or behind?) so hopefully as he gets bigger, I'll feel him more. He was certainly moving around a lot at our ultrasound it might have been the Percy Piglets I ate beforehand...

leoniethelioness · 15/05/2016 19:11

Sorry, I messed up that post a bit with some silly formatting!

Mileymoocow · 15/05/2016 19:51

ni I told my boss straight away as I work in a lab with a lot of nasty chemicals and drugs. We told our parents on mothers day when I was 9 weeks, our close friends at 12 weeks and everyone else at about 16ish.

I'm getting a bit pissy with feeling uncomfortably bloated and sick on an evening. I can't seem to get comfortable (and I haven't even eaten much since lunch time!) It's better than vomiting I guess though! Anyone else have this? Please tell me it goes away, it's really quite awful.

Team vanilla: did you have to tell your sonographer you didn't want to know the gender? I'm a little worried incase she mentions without asking or doesn't tell us to turn away at critical points and we see a dangle or lack of!

2 X hour walks today with the pooch. Doing a lot more walking now I have energy and I feel a lot better for it. Also inherited a fair few maternity pieces off my friend so I won't have to buy too much more. Yay Grin

Sodasoda · 15/05/2016 20:09

Congratulations twinky!

I'm planning on working up til September 2nd with an EDD of September 14th as I want to have as long as possible on the other side but we'll see - I'm not sure I'll go that long if it's really horrid on the tube!

We told parents about 8 weeks (after early scan) and boss about then too as I was being sick. After that I waited for blood results after the 12 week scan.

miley I told the sonographer we didn't want to know and she said they'd never tell anyone unless they were specifically asked. She then warned us to look away as she zoomed in on the key area!! But baby had their legs closed so couldn't see anything anyway Smile

IrregularCommentary · 15/05/2016 20:11

Our sonographer asked if we wanted to be told if he could tell the sex before he started doing anything. I guess that's standard. I'd say if they haven't asked by the time you've got the gel on your stomach though you should probably mention it to be safe.

PotatosMum · 15/05/2016 20:15

Miley I can tell you the uncomfortableness goes away... It would be a lie but I'm ok with that Wink

My sonographer asked at the start whether we wanted to know and we wouldn't have been able to tell if she hadn't done a bottom up shot but I do think that sometimes if it's rather obvious it's possible you'll find out by accident.

So, OHs ExW told him today that her mother is knitting Potato a cardigan because she knows my mum is in no fit state to knit for the baby.
On the one had it does feel a little odd but on the other I feel rather happy. The DSC grandma has always made a point of trying to make me feel welcome in the family and after worrying that Potato will be the odd one out at family gatherings (because of the complicated family tree linking their family to OHs across a couple of different branches) it's a very kind and reassuring gesture that's made me feel a bit less anxious alternatively she may just really like knitting but hey ho Smile

Leonie I'm a day behind 20+3 however my scan isn't for another week and a day so I'll be super late having it! (had early gender scan though) I doubt I have it though as I can feel her more everyday, I think I'm just impatient! I'll keep the Perry pugs tip in mind!!

I think that's a lovely gesture potato and I love my knitted Cardigan so let's hope it's as cute when she's done it!!

Laurenrl · 15/05/2016 20:25

I meant Percy pigs.. damn phone

Mileymoocow · 15/05/2016 20:58

Mmmmmmm percy pigs...

potato that's really nice of her, I'm so glad she's making the effort as I know how anxious you are about baby potato feeling left out. I'm really happy for you! Grin

Anyone else VERY swollen down there after DTD? I'm so sensitive and the tingle/swollenness doesn't ease for ages after. I can't even put knickers on as I'm so tender Blush

Nevlet · 15/05/2016 21:14

I wouldnt know miley as DP seems to have lost all interest in any activity like that pretty much since bfp and even more since I got a bump Sad
