iamdivergent · 16/05/2016 15:40

Oooh neha could have her baby by now!

Hope your scan went OK inside and all OK for you too emma

ILovePies · 16/05/2016 16:00

Eeeeee, hope you're snuggled with bubs in your arms nehagarg
Hope all ladies in hospital are doing okay.
Really struggling at the moment, having very irregular intense contractions just want something to start!

strawberrypenguin · 16/05/2016 16:12

Sounds like something is thinking about starting Ilove how far along are you?

Torn between wanting baby to make an appearance now and wanting him to stay in a bit longer! I'm definitely feeling very pregnant at the moment!

strawberrypenguin · 16/05/2016 16:13

Hope everything is ok inside and emma and that you are enjoying lovely new baby snuggles nehagarg

ILovePies · 16/05/2016 16:28

strawberry I will be 37 weeks tomorrow so I'm happy for baby to come anytime now!

strawberrypenguin · 16/05/2016 16:34

That's what I'm thinking too Ilove I was 37 weeks yesterday so anytime he likes now! Although I think DH would like him to stay put a bit longer - he's just started worrying about how close it is!

Torfhinn · 16/05/2016 16:39

Just back from my scan and everything is okay, amniotic fluid levels normal, yay! Currently 37+1 and baby estimated to be 7lb 11oz Shock. DS was 9lb 1oz, so I was expecting another whopper!

Hope you are having lovely, snuggly cuddles with your baby neha

Eastend2015 · 16/05/2016 17:27

Ilove exciting! I hope something happens soon!

I hope all is well Emma and Inside*! Wow such as busy thread.

I'm 35 weeks today and really struggling at work. It's not so much the physical side of things (although headaches/ pmt feelings aren't fun!) but I'm getting so impatient with people around me and finding it really difficult to manage the simplest things by having no attention span at all! I was intending to be in the office until 37 weeks then work the last couple of weeks from home but I'm so tired and grumpy I'm not sure I can manage it. I'll only have 6-7 months mat leave so going earlier will shorten my time with the baby. Any advice?

GrubbyWindows · 16/05/2016 17:49

eastend can you start alternating days from home with days in the office and see if that helps? More rest might help with the concentration and patience?

neha I hope all is well and you are already beginning to recover!

torf fantastic news!!!!

mrsmugoo · 16/05/2016 18:08

I think 35 weeks is a really common time to "mentally check out" from work - I know I did both times around this mark...but still had some time to go :(

strawberrypenguin · 16/05/2016 18:11

Great news torf and a good size!

eastend could you use annual leave to go earlier? That's how I've done mine. I'm on 2 weeks annual leave before Mat leave proper kicks in. Even if you could use it to work a 4 day week it might help? Know what you mean about the attention span, I think I spent most of my last week at work staring aimlessly out the window!

MollieRos · 16/05/2016 18:15

emma hope everything is ok

inside hmm, very suspicious BP readings! Hope you're doing ok.

Yippee to everyone who's started or just about to start maternity leave. I've been off for a week and it's lovely!

neha hope you're enjoying newborn cuddles as we speak Smile

Ilove eep, exciting! Perhaps that's the start of things? So frustrating if things seem to be niggling but not getting going!

Torfhinn great news Smile

Eastend I pretty much just went through the motions for my last couple of weeks at work, it was a real struggle. I went off at nearly 37 weeks in the end. Could you work a couple of short weeks to wind down towards maternity leave?

laughingGnomette · 16/05/2016 18:26

Eastend - sympathies. I have the world's shortest fuse at the moment. Poor DP gets an earful if he puts a foot wrong. Thankfully work has been pretty chilled but I have felt like telling a few people to eff off! Its a tough call but in your shoes I'd probably try and dig deep and work for as long as possible in order to get the extra week or so at the other end. If you can work any extra days at home then that'd be ideal.

Eastend2015 · 16/05/2016 18:34

Thanks all, I've emailed my boss to say I'll be in at 10 unless I have any urgent meetings, and have scheduled a few days working from home for the next 3 weeks, then I'll have a chat to DH about taking the last 2 weeks as holiday rather than using that at the end of my mat leave. At least I get full pay while I'm out so should be able to afford to stagger my return to work. The trouble is I only joined in Feb and am managing the team while my immediate boss is out on sabbatical so there isn't much ability to "check out" as the team are quite junior and need lots of support, I have spent about 20 mins at my desk today and tomorrow is the same Sad. I feel like I'm letting people down but equally being this grumpy is quite unprofessional!!

iamdivergent · 16/05/2016 18:38

I've got a fortnight left at work - i have some toil and plan on using it to cut the rest of my days shorter from next week. Hopefully my boss agrees!

GrubbyWindows · 16/05/2016 19:33

Short days sound like the way to go Eastend, excellent plan!
I was going to work until the end of the 37th week, but I just cannot be bothered so I'm going at the end of this week, a week early. Definitely recognise the checking out at 35 weeks here, and that makes things more irritating as I just don't care as much as the rest of the team!

insideout · 16/05/2016 20:59

Hi all, just checking in, no scan today as consultant is happy just to monitor me and take each day at a time. The aim is to keep baby where he is until I get worse. Unfortunately it means that I have to stay in hospital until whenever that will be. Sadly our amazing bp results were a little too fantastic for the consultant to believe ( am quite angry about this midwife however flippant I may sound).

Hope everyone is well Flowers

Torfhinn · 16/05/2016 22:03

I'd be angry too inside, how can someone looking after people with PE not be able to record an accurate BP?! Did she check it manually or with a automatic machine? Glad baby is able to stay put for now though.

Excited for you ilovepies, could be the start of something!

GrubbyWindows · 16/05/2016 22:18

Id have thought you'd be well within your rights to complain formally, inside. If one of you had in fact been getting much iller it could have been grim.
Commiserations on being stuck in hospital. It took me a few days to realise that as long as I was at my bed for my 4-hourly BP check, I could be wherever I wanted in between (the park opposite, nandos, the stairs trying to bring on labour by walking up and down sideways...). May or may not be the case for you, but it made me much happier to escape between checks!

Thinking of you emma, I hope everything is ok

Osirus · 16/05/2016 23:09

I left work at 32 weeks. I was brain-dead by then so I admire you holding out this long eastend.

PoppetPants · 17/05/2016 07:01

Inside, I'd definitely complain, things turned out OK for you but I imagine there is a risk of her doing some major damage if she isn't careful.

Torf, yea that things are looking ok and you're just being monitored. Have you got plenty of stuff to keep you entertained in hospital (or as entertained as you can be)?

Unfortunately I was made redundant in March so have been off work for ages. Should have only started maternity leave yesterday at 37+4 so all the things I'd have saved to do were finished long ago. Yesterday I found myself organising the spice and herb drawer and tidying my daughter's sylvanian families!

emma85x · 17/05/2016 07:34

inside Thinking of you and sorry to hear about the MW, I'd definitely complain. Don't piss off a pregnant lady! Hope your stay is ok and the other ladies on your ward are nice and considerate? Oh and that it's not uncomfortably hot!

After a scan (all normal) they discharged me from hospital last night. Baby had 3 further CTGs all of which were fine so I think he just went from being asleep to a but panicked on the first concerning one. (I was panicked when four medics came in, including an anaesthetist!) Scan again in two weeks' time. Thanks for your best wishes, happy to be home although I was on the ward with all the ladies getting induced and I must admit I would happily have been induced there and then I was so jealous of them!! One of the ladies there was 36 weeks and was being induced because her waters broke. DH was secretly sad not to be leaving with a son!

Moral of the story - Any concerns at all, even if it's just your gut instinct... Get checked!!

MindfulBear · 17/05/2016 08:24

I'm still at work at 35 weeks.... In fact still another 3 to go!!!
Not quite on the ball but as this mat leave is unpaid I don't want to start too early as it will shorten my time with baby.
