This must be our 100th thread.

Possibly.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Rosylily · 15/01/2007 09:30

ginger poodle I can't see past my bump so lost track of whats happening there!
My sis had a golly don't know where it went...(Did you used to watch the black and white minstrel show???) Nowadays you can get really lovely dolls in all nationalities its much better.

We are all miserable here, the children are really sick and I'm feeling pukey and light headed. My mother is debating whether to come and help me and risk getting the awful bug. Dh is turning up in a day or two, he'll probably get it too....sigh.

3rdTriMossTer · 15/01/2007 09:33

Rosy they weren't that bad. Once you got past the seeds on top they tasted like normal spongy muffins. Dh has gone on a health kick and I think he is expecting me to follow suit. That's gonna happen.

I did also have two buttered crumpets though.

Foxy much as I am dreading telling my parents about lo, if they do want to get back in contact with me there's a chance it might mean getting my old lego back, which I believe they have kept. Every cloud eh?

Lunar when are they going to do something about that??

Rosylily · 15/01/2007 09:33

Lunar I don't know how you are managing to work so hard

muppetisacat · 15/01/2007 10:03

Rosy - sorry you are feeling poorly - I too remember those stirrups when I had ventouse and stitches. I had spent many weeks carefully massaging my perineum with oils!!! I can only assume it looked well moisturised as the obstetrician gave me an episiotomy

Lunar - what was the MrLSG post about skiing? - couldn't understand it at all

I am looking to book for next winter - am considering states/canada - we've only ever gone to Austrian resorts b4. What makes you prefer the canadian resorts?

divastrop · 15/01/2007 10:30

i had the stirrups when being stitched after dd1.nice.
moss-yes the births of ds and dd2 were lovely experiences, even though i was induced at 38 weeks.the hospital up here is lovely.when i was being put on the drip to have dd2 i told the mw about my experience having dd1 and she said 'you can scream all you like today, theres nobody else in here atm'.i only screamed once though, and said 'oh s**t' a couple of times, she told me

lunar-im sure your employers must be breaking 100's of laws.i cant believe they are so disorganised.

fox-i was 'stretched' when having ds2,so i didnt tear.the only reason i tore slightly with dd2 was cos i was up on my knees and pushed her out in one go..'the head's out...oh,its a girl!'

rosy, sorry you arent feeling too well.i feel sick this morning but it may be due to lack of sleep as poor little dd2 woke up loads last night with her teeth.i know what you mean about not being able to see past the bump...ive no idea whats happening with hair growth

hi everyone it has been a while as i have been off sick and can only access the net at work!
i recently had a urine sample and Strep B was discovered in it! so i am now on anitbiotics and panicking like mad as i only have 7 weeks to go! has anyone else had this or know anyone who has and had a healthy baby? i should stay off the net as it is frightening. my midwife will discuss it at my next appointment but i have been told that i will have to have a swab test.
i just hope that my little boy will be ok though he has been very active these past few days, must be getitng squashed in there!

LunarSea · 15/01/2007 10:59

muppet - MrLSG is the other half by the way, if it clarifies things! I think he's just pointing out that when I say we have season tickets it sounds like we spend all season there, which unfortuantely we don't.

muppetisacat · 15/01/2007 11:04

Oh... that makes sense then lunar! Yes - season tickets does sound very grand! Is he actually an instructor or something?

YankeeFish · 15/01/2007 11:08

Hello All,

Hope the weekend went well for all - sounds like everyone was busy busy. I am in absolute denial about painfulness of birth -doing all I can to avoid thinking about it. I get really nervous thinking about it. Hard to face discussion of tearing/ episiotomy - ahh!!!!

Anyone ever use nappies such as the Bambino Mios - with reusable outer layer and throw away inner layer? What types of nappies are most used here? - as we have completely different choices back home and I am confused beyond belief.

Jaysecond · 15/01/2007 11:39

Morning all, hope everyone had a good weekend. DD was sick all Sat night, as in i had to fully wash and change her and the bedclothes three times.....she started with a really runny nose on Fri afternoon, which got worse as the day went on, with sneezing etc. Poor thing. Then Sun morn she bought back all her milk. I checked with NHS direct who said to keep an eye, and feed/water her little and often. She was fine for the rest of the day, and last night she wasnt bad, althiough she was coughing lots. then this morning i gave her just half her morning milk and she promptly bought it up....very strange, she seems fine in herself though, anyone got any ideas.....i know you are all mum doctors!!

Sat i had a MASSSIVE 'to do' withHouse of Fraser who wouldnt let me have a refund on my hubbys belt he got for christmas. Even though i had a receipt. I would have changed it if they had had a larger one but they didnt. There policy is only to exhcange or refund within 28 days........god i was livid. Too much to go into , i wont bore you, but i have written a very stong letter of complaint to the head office, after being spoken to by two managers who didnt have a an ounce of noggin between them, and they SO could have caused undue stress to my babt, i am after all almost 8 mths pregnant!!

Have been looking at Stollers, again, anyone seen or got any thoughts/ideas or opinions on this? It doesnt seem to be available in England, and would seem i would have to order it in. I love the sunrise_navy one. And there was me not going to go for a new one....mind you if the shipping costs are to high i might still have to!

Yankee i use one life nappies. Same sort of thing, with the flushable liners. DD has been in them since about 6 weeks old and i have found them to be great, wash well and have stayed really 'new' looking. I will be getting a top up of them for when the DS comes along!

Re the hair thing, i havnt noticed any change in any of my hair, but i didnt with DD either. A friend of mine, lost loads after the birth of her son, but only the extra that seemed to sprout when she was preggers. She looks fine now, and its stopped, (hes 9 mths)

I had a tear with DD, she had a big head i was told! i did all the fast breathing stuff and panting when the head was crowning and really didnt feel anything, i thought i had got away with it, but no.... had to have stitches. No problems going to the loo though afterwards, and i had lots of warm either slightly salted baths or which hazel baths. Worked for me. I think i would rather tear than have the 'cut' that way it goes whre its supposed to go , IYKWIM!! One thing i will be certain of this time round is that i WILL NOT be put in stirrups. The last hour of my labour (which was 52 hrs longbtw) i was so tired that they thought it would help me to push, it helped at the time but i had SUCH BAD sciatica that was attributed to it, after, no way, never again!

Well done you ladies still at work, i cant imagine having to get up and dressed and be nice to people, even if i felt like shit! Well done and theres not long left to go now!! I feel so FULL its crazy, much fuller than b4 and i was quite full with DD ( she was 9lbs 5) after reading about the possible weight of your babies, i think i will remain happy in the knowledge that i dont know!!

Rosylily i love old stuff too. We were at the auctions last week and got two lovely 1930s wardrobes ( our house is 1930's ) and i love to find furniture to go with. It also means that we can move clothes out of DD new room and get that sorted for her so 'the boy' can go into the nursery!

Sorry for long post, but i have to try and catch up with you lot!!!

EDD 9 March - 53 days....OMG!!
Boy!

3rdTriMossTer · 15/01/2007 11:43

Rosy sorry you're not feeling so well. Hope you feel better soon!

Diva, mil was telling me about giving birth in the sixties / seventies how she had to be on her back and in stirrups and everything, and how for her first two her then dh wasn't even allowed in the room. I didn't know stirrups had been used so recently though. You must be glad you've a better hospital now.

Bethoo I don't really know much about strep b, although I'm sure someone on here started a thread on it quite recently. I think that there is an injection you can have nearer the birth, but I'm not 100% sure. Someone on MN will know, you could start a thread in Pregnancy?

Yankeefish I'm going to use Tots Bots mainly 'cos there were some second hand ones going cheap on ebay, and also because I filled in a questionnaire at a web site possibly the nappy lady? and they recommended those based on my info.

3rdTriMossTer · 15/01/2007 11:45

X-posts Jay your buggy looks really cute! Oh, and the bubblegum pink looks lovely but with a boy maybe not...

LunarSea · 15/01/2007 12:13

muppet - yes he is an instructor, but not a full time one. He's away teaching this week. Actually I'm a qualified instructor too, although I've not done so much of it since having ds.

divastrop · 15/01/2007 12:17

jay-my dd2 always throws up when shes got a chest infection, its the force of the coughing that makes her sick.if theres nothing wrong with the other end maybe its just the cough thats causing it?

bethoo · 15/01/2007 12:28

i find that colour stays well in my hair since being pregnant. i had red put in it several months ago and it is still really vibrant. possibly by hte fact that my hair gets greasy wuite quickly!
so far i hae managed to avoid stretch marks but have a feeling that they will suddenly appear just before the birth which i add i am petrified of as attended an ante natal class and i felt like screaming gice me a c section!

Jaysecond · 15/01/2007 12:50

Thanks Diva, i thought that also. I think that its a combination of the coughing and the -TMI ALERT.............. thick green mucus thats streaming from her nose, might be thats going down her throat. Poor thing. Have just given her a comfort bottle of milk and some calpol and shes sound asleep. Only got up at 9!! Still i think sleep does them good.

Moss it does look good and i prefer it over the Mountain Double, although i do like that one also, but i am still trying to get it shipped over, failing that, find a supplier in UK....

Have had qotes back for the kitchen work i was going to get done before the baby came.......ahemmmm well not quite what i expected so have decided to put it back till AFTER the baby. Prob May time, its more than i thoguht and is going to take longer than i thought, so i dont want to be having no kitchen when i come back from hospital with a wee one. Bit dissapointed but then hey, you cant have everythign at once i guess.

Bethoo, i am afraid i dont know much about strep B, I can imagine that the net will be full of info, i think your right to stay clear. Wait to hear from your MW and just get the facts you need. Hope all goes ok for you and baby!

LOL @ 'fango' fox..... what else can i say on that one! hehehehehe

TheBlonde · 15/01/2007 13:26

Bethoo - The risk with Group B strep is to those who don't know they have it
This website may help www.gbss.org.uk/
As far as I know if you are still +ve for it at birth they will give you and the baby antibiotics

Now I'd like everyone to cease talking about stirrups/cuts/tears/pain etc, I trying to remain in denial here [lalalalalala]

bethoo · 15/01/2007 13:39

thanks, my mw told me i will be on iv during labour now that they are aware i have it.
i too am in denial about the labour as i attneded a parentclass and it put the fear of god into me!

YankeeFish · 15/01/2007 13:52

Bethoo & Blonde - I am in complete agreement DENIAL! - feel better not knowing what I am supposed to know. Ante-natal class doesn't start for me until my 35th week of pregnancy - hope they cover things quickly and I am not early.

eidsvold - I seem to grow hair very quickly in my armpits - hate shaving, such a chore - but hate more the feeling of hairy pits. DH says he doesn't care, but they all do, don't they?

jaysecond - nice buggy - would hate to pay shipping costs though - no similar model close by?

YankeeFish
32 today
Surprise

muppetisacat · 15/01/2007 14:03

Lunar - your lucky ds having TWO instructors as parents . Everyone I talk to at the moment seems to be going skiing in the next few weeks....grrrrr...

If you do have any top resort tips for kids and babes - please let me know. Even my mw has just got back from skiing in Italy!

Bethoo - must be worrying for you but I agree with the Blonde - it's much more of a concern for those who have no idea they have it. At least you know they will be watching you carefully.

bethoo · 15/01/2007 14:12

thanks and to make things worse i have had a phone call from the hospital who said my results from glucose tolerance test were abnormal as i had glucose in a routine urine test so i have to have more tests as could have gestational diabetes. i swear you could not make this up! what next i wonder!

muppetisacat · 15/01/2007 16:15

Bethoo - you poor thing... it's bad enough with the usual blood taking tests, weeing in pots that are not designed to be weed in etc... actually at least they are on the ball where you are. I wouldn't have a clue if i had gestational diabetes or not - our mw team have been told not test second/third time mums routinely as a cost cutting exercise...

3rdTriMossTer · 15/01/2007 16:47

Bethoo I am thinking about dyeing my hair brown again so maybe now is a good time to try! Sorry to hear you're having problems. I suppose at least, as Muppet / Theblonde say, if they know, they can help and can keep an eye on you.

YankeeFish re: antenatal classes I had a huge today rang the hosi and apparently they either don't do them any more or they are full, couldn't quite make it out, I had thought they would invite me as I had my booking in appt with them but apparently not! So now I'm looking for other (free) things I can do, parent craft classes or whatever.

Jay sorry you're not going to get your dream kitchen just yet - will you have stuff like a fridge and a cooker though?

divastrop · 15/01/2007 16:47

bethoo-sorry,missed the bit about the strep b.im sure there was somebody else on this thread who also has to be treated for it during labour.from what ive heard its only bad if they dont know about it.you are probably best off avoiding the 'helpful' info on the net.

those of you who are in denial about the pain of labour etc-please,take it from me,i was totally ignorant and didnt listen to half the stuff about complications etc at my ante-natal classes.then when i devloped pre-eclampsia i didnt have the first clue what was happening and it resulted in a horrible labour, whereas the labours where i knew exactly what was happening and felt in control were bloody easy by comparison.

giving birth is not as scary when you know whats going on

divastrop · 15/01/2007 16:52

moss-do sure start run any classes where you are?they do here.
