This must be our 100th thread.

Possibly.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Diva, I am nearly thirty as well, but I think in my head I've been thirty for the last five years, ever since I relinquished my young person's railcard, so I'm looking forward to it!!

Waitrose is like a really posh supermarket, like if you went to the Asda and they only sold the Extra Special stuff. They do loads of organic food I believe.

foxabout2pop · 12/01/2007 22:17

Mossy/Diva - I often fantasise about moving away from west London and our mega mortgage; as that would enable me to go part time at work.

BUT - and its a big but - we are within walking distance of an M&S with a huge food department...How could I give that up????

Mossy that's a good point about the legal bit - I think its up to employers to demonstrate they're not discriminating. He works for a Uni but their HR dept seems to be completely clueless TBH. I might e-mail CAB next week for some advice and do some internet seraches for tips.

Diva is it all quiet on the western front tonight with your naughty neighbours?

foxabout2pop · 12/01/2007 22:19

ps Moss good luck with the court - hope they make the right decision.

Dollypopsout - yeah, what did you mean about the battle with the MW? I'm intrigued too...

Rosylily · 12/01/2007 22:24

Nearly 30! Pah! that's nothing...just wait til you're nearly 40

foxabout2pop · 12/01/2007 22:25

or even nearly 43....

TheBlonde · 12/01/2007 22:28

Dolly - I am planning on getting a P&Teds. Still not sure when to buy it but probably after arrival of no2
I need to buy a baby bjorn before arrival though

I saw a thread this week where someone was having a trauma at the idea of taking a baby and a 2 year old to the supermarket - pls tell me this is possible?? We go daily!

Rosylily · 12/01/2007 22:30

Fox do you think having babies this late will keep us young or are we bonkers? Friend of mine age 38 is about to become a granny!

Rosylily · 12/01/2007 22:38

The blonde, there's just under 2 years between my little ones and it's no bother going to the supermarket, don't worry!
Now who's going to reassure me that you can take a 4 yo, 2 yo and a baby to the supermarket...anyone?

sexkittyinwaiting · 12/01/2007 22:50

me!!! Before I switched to online shopping I used to go to Asda and they have a 4 seater trolly .
I can't remember the age combinations at that timne but I think the baby used to go in the middle I the car seat with all the food and the others would sit on the seats smacking each other round the head .
I couldn't work out what that going shopping thread was about. Thought briefly about posting, but then what can you say other than 'get a grip woman'?

Diva, hope your neighbours have behaved themselves

Foxy, you could always move down to Sunny sussex by the sea !!

Yeah, good luck with fighting the bank mossy

1973magpie · 12/01/2007 23:01

Foxy, the diabetes isn't too bad, I just have to think about everything I eat (and avoid as much carbohydrate as possible) and eat every two hours or so, and test my blood sugar a few times a day (but I test it every 2hrs so I know how different foods affect it) - my fingers look like mini colanders but I haven't noticed any other symptoms as such.

I'm getting used to it now, just determined not to go into hospital if at all possible, I'm planning candles, a birth pool and plenty of gas and air

Moss good luck with the bank, and good luck researching stuff for your DH Foxy - have you tried the ACAS website? They are supposed to be good.

Wish we had a Waitrose nearby, although we do have a good farm shop, I guess that's what you get for living in rural-ish Suffolk

LunarSea · 12/01/2007 23:22

Where in Suffolk are you magpie? I grew up there, though have been away for 22 years now.

Anyway off to bed now - had to be up at 5 this morning to go and see clients, and then more work when I got home. Haven't done it all even now, but as long as it's all done before Monday morning I don't suppose anyone will notice. Not planning to do it tomorrow in any case as it's the last day I'll have dh here for a week - he's off skiing for a week on Sunday, leaving me on my own with ds.

foxabout2pop · 13/01/2007 07:54

Hi everyone

Rosy, I think having kids will keep us young longer, not sure about keeping us sane though!!! It should certainly prevent us turning into middle aged bores in our 50's as we'll have teenagers round the house. I quite like the idea of going travelling with our future teenagers in my 50's actually, it could be fun. My friend went to the jungle in Peru with hers - another went to Vietnam with hers

The Blonde - kids & shopping I find difficult, but I'm quite an impatient person (well OK, very impatient). I shop in my work lunch hour or online as I hate being in the supermarket with mine. When I do have to do it, I promise them both 1 treat each if they behave, a chocolate lolly or something at the end and that usually brings them into line [winkl

Kitty - if we did move out of London, it would be to either the west country or Sussex actually - cos I lurve Brighton & Hove and its close to London. I used to go to Hove a lot in my old job and loved it. In fact the big downside about Wiltshire (where my sis, mum and bro live) is its 2.5 hours from the sea, whereas where we live now is only 1 hr 15 mins from the sea at Brighton. I saw a job a few weeks ago in Goring (no idea where that is or what its like) which looked a possibility, but going to a job interview heavily PG would be a bit too funny

Both Sussex and the west Country are expensive aren't they - but they can't be as overpriced as Richmond to be sure

Magpie - thanks for that tip re the ACAS website - I will have a look on there. Also the Unison one, which is DH's union.

Your diabetes sounds like a real drag, you poor thing, and loads of work monitoring youtr BS levels etc! But it will go won't it, if its gestational? Have your local NHS been quite supportive of the homebirth desire?

Lunar - have you been skiing yourself? What's it like? Always sounds at the same time amazing and frightening to me

foxabout2pop · 13/01/2007 08:10

The Blonde - your MIL thread is getting very political!!! LOL

Rosylily · 13/01/2007 08:15

Yeah fox teenagers are cool to have around...already got a funny 15 yo and really dreading the day he leaves home He's away with his Dad this weekend and I miss him loads!
Lunar you'll be missing your dh I'm sure. I am used to mine being away but at the moment I just want him here...it's definately my hormones!
Kitty that 4 child trolley sounds brilliant!
Though shopping online sounds even better
I'm still feeling sorry for myself today, with this cold and not enough sleep, sigh. Oh well. Could be worse.

eidsvold · 13/01/2007 08:20

dd1 had a vibrating chair which had an arch with toys on that she loved. One toy played tunes, one lit up and the other had a mirror on it from memory.

dd1's was like this

Dd2 had a rocking, vibrating chair with toy arch -

dd2 's chair was like this

we also had one of these for dd1 - was fab for support and she loved it.

\link{http://www.childsplaysussex.co.uk/erol.html#3422x0&&http%3A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252Fsearch%3Fsourceid%3Dnavclient-ff%26ie%3DUTF-8%26rls%3DDVFD%2CDVFD%3A1970--2%2CDVFD%3Aen%26q%3Dgalt+activity+mat/ ours also had a cross shaped arch of toys that went across the top}

eidsvold · 13/01/2007 08:22

oops that last link did not work and went strange..... let me try again.

also had this for dd1

3rdTriMossTer · 13/01/2007 08:48

Foxy, mil had her first two when she was in her early twenties, and had dh when she was 38 which I think was more unusual in those days. She is closest to dh out of all her children. She is in her mid sixties now but only looks in her fifties and has a very young attitude so it certainly kept her young!

Actually will catch up more later, I'm supposed to be getting ready for my driving lesson...

muppetisacat · 13/01/2007 09:21

Sorry to hear the rubbish you and your dh are putting up with foxy - educational establishments can be the worst when it comes to any type of HR.

Magpie - has the gestational diabetes made your mw worry over the size of your lo?

I am getting the impression from most of you that these weight estimations are to be taken very lightly. Am just going to concentrate on turning this baby - he keeps ramming his head against my ribs.

Lunar - my dh is also planning a ski w/e without me or kids... we took the kids for their first time last year (they were 6 and 8) and I thought it would be good to start them young - but lots of people seemed to be taking children who could only just walk and plonking skis on them - brilliant! Will defo take this little one earlier (funds allowing)...

32weeks (boy)

Rosylily · 13/01/2007 10:03

Eidsvold those bouncy chairs look great, I want to get one but my mother suggested I let someone else get that sort of thing. The last link plaything I have just been given second hand from my sis!

I've been ignoring my little ones all morning and they are being so cute! Got some lovely bedding in the post from vertbaudet sale so they've made a bed all over the living room floor and dd was 'reading' there's a wocket in my pocket to ds2...she knows it off by heart. I love kids! Impossible to be grumpy and miserable for long.

Can't imagine taking them skiing!!Sounds far too energetic!

kiwibella · 13/01/2007 10:55

It is cold today!! Dh and dd have been packed off to the museum today to meet friends. I was meant to go but am too tired (late night - early morning with dd who is adjusting to being back in UK time).

Diva... I know Lidl on Burdett Rd... small world, it's not far from our place.

Bless Jay and your dd... hope she had a totally fabby time at nursery. We have had 20 new littlies this week (5 each day) and it sounds like utter chaos. I've not been brave enough to visit down there yet .

Muppet... can you loan out your crystal ball? I would love to have a peek at what will happen in my future. Lucky you having another looksie at your bubs. Hope he complies and sorts his positioning out.

I know nothing about funda height (have got the jist from what you all have been saying). I don't know about being measured - altho the mw threw a tape measure across my belly and said everything was ok. I certainly haven't had anything recorded on a graph!?!?!

at your big night in Yankee... sounds devine!

Hope you had fun at your driving lesson Moss. Now dd is back from her travels, I am ready to use her gear to pack my bags - just in case. I can only imagine what dh would turn up with if he was left to bring things in . It's off to the sofa for me with a cuppa, a blanket, and the telly remote.

Have a lovely, lazy day everyone.

kiwibella · 13/01/2007 11:07

oooh, the Vertbaudet stuff is gorg - love the bright colours. I can't wait to know for sure my baby's sex (already, if it's a boy he will be wearing a lot of pink for the first few months).

LunarSea · 13/01/2007 11:12

muppet - I can beat that - ds was on skis BEFORE he could walk! See the first pic here

evenhope · 13/01/2007 11:14

Only just found this new thread. I've just read all 120 posts and I can't remember any of them!!!

Had the man round this morning to service the boiler, and it is dead. He has condemned it, put a sticker on it and given us a letter to say we aren't allowed to use it. Apparently it has been letting off fumes for a while and could have caught fire .

Of course we have no money for a new boiler and already have 2 personal loans on the go.. Just what we needed just now. BGs finance plan is double the interest rate of our credit cards so looks like we'll be putting even more on the plastic.

We ordered our pram, car seat and cot last weekend, so feeling a bit more organised. Got no bedding for it, except 2 pram blankets and a cot blanket that mum has made. Had a panic last week that we had no nappies and I had forgotten we needed some, so bought one very small pack of newborn pampers. I'm sure we've forgotten something vital.

I'm on 3 iron tablets a day for anaemia. MW says Hb level was 9 and should be at least 10. Didn't read the instructions straightaway and you can't drink tea/ coffee less than 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking them, which makes timing them hard.

After the last mw visit being told I measured 4 weeks too big, this week it was down to 1 week bigger. Mw not concerned at all. And the counselling I applied for has come through and starts on Tuesday, so everything is better (except the boiler).

kiwibella · 13/01/2007 11:17

Blonde... your 'other' thread about your MIL has some interesting perspectives!

LunarSea · 13/01/2007 11:24

Bella - if you like the bright coloured stuff have a look at www.jako-o.com/ . It's a German company but they have the whole site in English, and they'll deliver here for 7.5 Euros (except for really big things). I love their boys things - so much of what you can buy here for 5 year old boys is really dull colours, or mini teenage rebel stuff.
