This must be our 100th thread.

Possibly.

Moss and Amie - they worked out the estimated weight at the scan today - there is some calculation or formula using the measurements of head/tummy circumference and length of thigh bone - if I go by my fundal height I'm bang on right - this is why I can't believe I would have a baby suddenly 2lbs bigger than my other two...

On the other hand - don't want to give birth to larger baby if he's still breech...

We all need crystal balls!

Amie - although i'd rather look at a 9lber than a 10lber

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 11:27

Amie I've had my fungus () measured but she's just told me whether or not it's the right height for how far along I am, nowt to do with weight.

But I am only 29 weeks maybe at the next appt she will talk about it?

YankeeFish I am looking to a lie in tomorrow, too. I've a driving lesson at nine but it means I won't have to get out of bed until eight.......... yes!!!

AmieR · 12/01/2007 11:29

Muppet - we have our last scan in our area at 20-22 weeks. And to be honest the sonographer didn't say anything to us during the procedure apart from mumbling about the fact LO wouldn't really keep still!

Was your latest scan routine or to check on your placenta? Which I'm glad has moved for you!

AmieR · 12/01/2007 11:31

oooh X post Mossy!

did she not mark it on a graph in your notes book? I wish they did things the same in each area of the country.

She marked mine on a graph which is stuck in my notes, and has some lines and axis on it which I was looking at the other day, and saw it had a weight estimation on it too.

eidsvold · 12/01/2007 11:34

muppet my dd1 was 6lb 1/2 oz - my dd2 - 9lb 7oz!! both c-sections. Had a growth scan with dd2 as I was going for vbac and consultant was worried about size of babe and impact on scar - they predicted dd2 would be 9lb at birth. Dd2 was 10 days late and as I said 9lb 7oz. Think this one is going to be up there too.... I seem very big lately.

muppetisacat · 12/01/2007 11:40

Eids - bums! Thought you were going to tell me they had got it wrong!

Amie - it was a scan to check placenta at 32 weeks - which luckily has moved up. Yes - I do have those little graphs - and so worked out if it carries on the same percentile it would be 9lbs.

However - all babies must grow in fits and starts surely - can't believe they all put on half a pound a week from now on - it all sounds too generalised to me and I don't feel especially bigger with this one.

May be able to check again in 4 weeks - as apparantly if mw still thinks he's breech they'll send me for yet another scan to confirm either way. Perhaps they can then scare me further with tales of elephantisis!

sexkittyinwaiting · 12/01/2007 11:47

Muppet, weight's a tricky one, I was big with my first and smaller with my second but my second was way bigger than my first. So it's difficult to tell from your actual size too.
They told me the last baby was no great size and she was over 9lb. I've also heard tales of women who are told they are going to have biffers and when they arrive they are perfectly average size. So actually I think it's only an inaccuate guess. I'm not sure why it matters whether the baby is bigger or smaller as long as it's healthy. Women are perfectly capeable of birthing hefty babies and it's the head that does all the stretching anyway, so I don't think anyone should get worked up about whether they are having a big baby or not.

sexkittyinwaiting · 12/01/2007 11:49

Also remember that the fungal measurement depends very much on how the baby is lying at that particular moment. if it's sideways for example it might not be such a big measurement.

AmieR · 12/01/2007 11:52

Muppet - sorry hope you didn't think I was being smart with you but was hoping to point Mossy in the right direction with her Fungal stuff. Sorry if came across that way, that's sometimes the problem with online converstaions, can't always explain in the way you would face to face, if that makes sense. But I personally think its all a load if baloney. I'm not sure whether I'm just telling myself that to keep my mind off the thought of giant baby! But I guess there must be some correlation, but how babies all measure the same, and grow in the same way and how I'd measure the same as a lady who was size 8 pre pregnancy is beyond me, I suppose it just provides a guide. And us being us, are thinking far too much about it! LOL

In a way though, I hope it does stay measuring a little bigger so I get to have another scan before meeting LO!

LaidbacktoEnglandsoon · 12/01/2007 12:02

Kitty - having been told that I'm likely to have a bigger baby this time than DS2 (10lb 4 with 38 cm circumference head) ... whether it is true or not... I am firmly in the slightly concerned camp ! ... Did your babies get progressively bigger ? Seeing midwife on my return on Monday so will see what she says .

Rosylily · 12/01/2007 12:03

When I was expecting dd the consultant said the baby was small and I should take bed rest and eat more...honestly, the amount of stress that caused me! Trying to force food down my throat...I had already been eating loads it was a load of sh*te!
My own dr at the time did this when I told her and reassured me. Dd was 7lbs 9oz in the end. Ds1 had been 9lbs 2oz and ds2 was 8 lbs 2 oz.
I did have to push a bit and had an episiotomy(sp?) with ds1 but he was my first.
This time I predict 8lbs 5oz.

Rosylily · 12/01/2007 12:06

Laidback stop eating fish! 'Apparently' that makes the babies bigger!

LaidbacktoEnglandsoon · 12/01/2007 12:09

Rosy - I eat fish nearly every day !!!! Oh dear !

muppetisacat · 12/01/2007 12:15

God no Amie - didn't think you were being smart with me at all!!! Now you've got me paranoid that my reply made you think I thought you were thinking that - GAARGGHH - what am I trying to say!!!

Rosy - I've eaten lots of fish this pg - bums...

I have had a serious word with myself anyway and have decided to take measurements with a pinch of salt. Will just focus my mind on turning this baby - posted on pg threads about it and have lots of info re - turning him.

Thanks to you all for your words of advice.

YankeeFish · 12/01/2007 12:25

Has anyone previously used one of those baby bouncer seats with dds? I am looking to invest in one, seem so great - but can't decide what features I "need". Vibrations, music and toys or just a simple version. Any advise?

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 12:33

Amie she hasn't drawn anything on a graph, but there is some graph paper in my notes with stuff marked on the axis, maybe I'm meant to plot it myself?

Will ask her next time.

I haven't been eating much fish though, but I wonder if chocolate and cake has the same effect?

AmieR · 12/01/2007 12:34

Muppet - I think its our hormones!

Never heard the fish thing before, gulp maybe a 10lbs not so LO is on the cards!

Yankee - I bought a bouncing cradle this week, not had experience myself but my brother and his wife swore by it. I got a pretty cheap one from Mothercare, I went for a few soft toys things and it does vibrate, I didn't splash out too much on it as I think it won't get as much use as something wil do when they can hold their head up.. if that makes sense... we got this one but actually for £23.99!

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 12:34

Yankeefish I've been given one that vibrates, but this is my first lo so I haven't used it yet!!

sexkittyinwaiting · 12/01/2007 12:45

Yeah, Moss and what about the seat?

laidback, yes they did on the whole, had a 2oz dip with dd4. The ist one started at 6lb 10 oz and the last 9lb 2 oz.

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 12:58

Kitty, pmsl, that's the kind of thing I'd say.

Have to say though, personally, I didn't think you'd sink that low, had you down as a classier type than me!!!

Rosylily · 12/01/2007 13:01

It's her new name moss

Booboobedoo · 12/01/2007 13:05

Lol at kitty. Wonder if many sickos read this site? They must love us all whittering on about our rude dreams/DT obssessions etc! Whatever floats yer boat, I s'pose.

No-one's given me any indication of how big my LO's likely to be: mainly because I'm only seeing my GP now, and she's always in a hurry. Fine by me.

My personal neurosis atm is that I'll have a horrible, unsympathetic midwife who'll tell me to make less noise and ignore my birth-plan. We've all got to worry about something, haven't we?

I was supposed to have a blood test at 28 weeks apparently, but I didn't. Must go and get it done. The GP said it's only to check for anaemia really, and I have no symptoms. I'm in the pink!

Sorry to hear you're still getting MS Amie. Just think what a relief it'll be not to be pregnant any more!

I can't help it, I'm sad

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 13:54

Booboo, dh gets paranoid sometimes that there might be people on here posing as Mums who are really hairy, greasy old men getting off on my "carry on up the duff" talk!!

Ohhhhh I really can't be bothered doing anything in work now.

Tomorrow I am going to see one of my mates in the afternoon. She has a ds who is 14 months old, and is absolutely adorable (and looks just like his Dad almost scarily like him!) so I am looking forward to it. It's weird, about two / three years ago we were knocking about the town centre so drunk we could barely remember our own names and now she is inviting me round to hers so I can see my own future in the state of her living room!

Then on Sunday, it's geeky fun for me, dh and some of our mates! Busy weekend ahead so I think an early night is called for tonight.

sexkittyinwaiting · 12/01/2007 13:59

Mossy, what happens with the Geeky fun ? Sounds intriguing
