This must be our 100th thread.

Possibly.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
YankeeFish · 12/01/2007 14:01

yes, a weekend of quietness would be great. my dh and i lead very exciting lives as well - going to go to Waitrose for a big food shopping excursion tonight. Then maybe a fall asleep on the couch while pretending to watch a movie.

Piffle · 12/01/2007 14:07

Back from my Glucose Tolerance test
Bleurgh - results on Monday
Another one here who is dying for homebirth and really wants NOT to have Gest Diabetes.
Anyone else due 23/3?

I'm feeling very tired so am off to rest, dd (4) also seems shattered and is happy to curl up with me
Hooray

30 +0
A boy

sexkittyinwaiting · 12/01/2007 14:16

Piffle, I'm hopefully having a homebirth and I'm due 21/3 if that helps?

Piffle · 12/01/2007 14:20

Cool have sneaking suspicion this guy might turn up before his edd, but that's only a bizarre thought - no scientific basis for thinking that at all
Aside from wishful thinking!

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 14:40

Kitty:

geeky fun

But it is really, really, really geeky. Makes Doctor Who look like Ready, Steady Cook. Put it this way I am the only girl I know who plays.

Dh has just emailed me to say that he is going out with his mate tonight and might have a few beers, so he has arranged for mil not to drink anything just in case I go into early labour and someone needs to drive me to the hosi.

Bless him I told him about Callie and he is really panicking now.

AmieR · 12/01/2007 14:55

Moss - I used to play Warhammer, which is very similar, used to love painting the little figures... but now have reverted to playing WoW online! I too am a geek :D

Our husband's seem very much a like!

Mine's in a sulk though as all his football commitments have been postponed this weekend!

Though thankfully your MIL seems nothing like mine!

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 15:06

Amie I don't dare sign up to WoW. I spend far too much time on MN already! Yes I know of Warhammer, mainly because it's all that Games Workshop sells these days!

Dh is a bit of a geek as well just about different things, but AD&D is something we both love. He normally DMs though, the last thing I want to do when I get home from work is come up with a campaign!

My mil is lovely, I have to say, I read stuff about other people's mils and I feel really lucky!!

AmieR · 12/01/2007 15:16

Mossy - yeah.. you're porbably being very wise! Tis very addictive, and can be life consuming...

foxabout2pop · 12/01/2007 16:36

Moss - is geektfun a kind of swingers club but for geeks? Come on you can tell us the truth

Magpie - your DH sounds really nice. Can you find me a noce supportive one too? Mine is in the dog house atm

Rosy - we use our bedsite cot as a sofa atm . Word of warning, even tiny babies somehow manage to wiggle onto your bed from a bedside cot - mind you at least you can roll them back into it again!

Diva - now washing machine - what a nightmare Its one thing you totally rely on with kids isn't it?

glad your neighbours are behaving though

Kitty/Rosy/Blonde - you sound as though you've got what we had B4 Christmas - sore throat, blocked nose, cough, aches etc

Jaysecond - hope your LO enjoyed the nursery today

Lunar - having kids is an excellent excuse to be able to leave work on time. I used to feel pressured to stay late at meetings which dragged on. Now I just bellow "got to pick the kids up" and no one dare say anything, lest they break some new law or something

Muppet - I'm so glad your placenta has shuifted - hope mine does too [fingers and ovaries crossed]

Well this week I've burst out crying at work, shouted at DH (or rather screamed like a harpie, lost the fab mortgage we thought we had and don't know whether DH has a job after June.

oh feck...oh feck...oh feck

32+5 and feeling shite

Piffle · 12/01/2007 16:43

Anyone started the big buy yet?
I've been slowly getting clothes together and am done with that.
Got pram
Need car seat, nappies (am using 99% resuseables), new cot and crib mattresses.
What else do I need?
Blank, yes this is my 3rd BUT I have a mental blank

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 16:50

Foxy why might your dh not have a job after June, is he going to be made redundant? Sorry to hear that you're feeling shite, it's no wonder!

If you saw the people I had geeky fun with, you certainly wouldn't ask if it was swinging! I know there's talk of geek chic atm, but this lot are retro geek. You know, think ZX Spectrum game designers from the eighties or summat!

Rosylily · 12/01/2007 16:53

Piffle, I bought loads of sanitary towels yesterday. And some nipple cream!

Sorted tiny baby clothes and they are in the washing machine at this very moment! They are so tiny! (eek)

Fox what happened to the mortgage I hope you get something else sorted soon. I have an anxiety about June too, our lease on the house is up and if we can't renew it I'll be devastated. Everything crossed for happy outcomes!

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 17:31

Piffle I'm going to write a LIST of everything we still need to buy just before my payday on 26th.

Dh is dreading this because I become dangerously bossy when I have a list in my hand.

Right it's 1730, early finish on a Friday, so I'm off home!

TheBlonde · 12/01/2007 17:44

Piffle - I was about to commence the buying with DS's new furniture (he's being turfed out of the nursery) but then DH said I had to try DS's new mattress in the shop first so we have to go to Peter Jones tomorrow

Other than that I have bought a few cute small outfits in the sales and some nappies

divastrop · 12/01/2007 17:45

OMG...all these months ive been getting upset /paranoid/nearly screwing up my relationship with dp over him chatting to women on online games and for all i know some of them could easily be mners....

i had it in my head that only 16-24 year old attractive single women played them as a way to meet impressionable men and have their way with them
i should start writing songs/poetry again,i clearly need an outlet for my over active imagination.

magpie-my dd2 was in with dd1 from 3 weeks old.shed been in hospital and i didnt want to put her in my damp room when she got out.she slept through from 12 weeks.i did get one of those breathing monitors though.

jay-i'm from ilford,my mum grew up in stratford and i used to work at lidl on burdett road, limehouse.
i live in cumbria now!

yankee-IMO bouncy chairs are the most useful item to have for a baby.i just had the basic ones(ive had to get a new one again cos i use them so often they are only fit for the bin once the baby can sit up).i have one of the more expensive type as well that i was given for dd2,but she didnt like that till she was 4 months old.

my babies havent gone up in weight.i was told dd2 was going to be big and she was only 6lb 13.dd1 was my biggest at 8lb 11.i have never been told an estimated weight, though i did notice there was one on the 28 week scan report.

i got my washer sorted today, after going in and looking all pregnant and harrassed, they decided they could squeeze delivery in today for the replacement.dp couldnt see why i couldnt just leave the washing untill mondayerm,i have 4 children.i have to do at least 2 loads of washing every day.

oops, didnt realsie the time, better go and get organised for bath/bedtime.

31+2(girl)

sexkittyinwaiting · 12/01/2007 18:24

Foxy, that's terrible about your dh's job. How likely do you think it is?. I spoke to one of my best friends today and her husband has just been made redundant after 28 years as events manager for all the stuff that goes on in Brighton. They are shell shocked. Let's hope things turn out better for you.

You lot are all so über organised with the baby clothes etc. I don't normally start sifting through things until about 37 weeks. I don't need any equipment apart from a stage one car seat as I managed to break my trusty old one the other week and I'm very about it. I'm going on the scrounge, buggered if I'm going to shell out for a new one .

I've got no baby boy clothes at all so I've been begging from mums at school. I'm doing quite well. I think people would rather someone they knew had the clothes rather than sending them to a charity shop or something.
One mum has promised me her entire stash, but I can't really sort them out until she gives them to me.
My splurge this preg will be another doula and the all singing, all dancing pool.

TheBlonde · 12/01/2007 18:28

Well I went off to do bath/milk/bed but DS has fallen asleep in the playpen while I was running his bath
I am too preg to lean over and get him out so I have just left him there!

1973magpie · 12/01/2007 18:43

Piffle - I have got gestational diabetes, I found out last week, I am determined to have a homebirth and so far I am managing to keep my blood sugars fairly well controlled with diet.

I am doing some research at the moment, hopefully if I can keep the levels low enough without insulin there is no real reason for them to try and 'persuade' me to go to hospital...

Foxy - unfortunately DH only has one brother and he's already married ! Sorry to hear about your DH's job

divastrop · 12/01/2007 20:09

fox-x posts.what is your dh going to do?why is he in the dog house anyway?you dont need stress at a time like this

theblonde-i noticed a few days ago that im struggling to get dd2 out of the playpen.luckily she doesnt fall asleep in there unless i put her in there for her daytime nap.she fell asleep on dp yesterday,it was so cute.she never falls asleep on me,though, ive actively discouraged it from an early age.

i've yet to sort out baby clothes but i normally do it before 34 weeks just in case i have to go into hospital.the mixed-up pile of bin bags in the corner of dd2's room looks too daunting, and some of them also contain my pre-preg clothes which will be ultra depressing(i spent 3 weeks as a size 10 before getting pregnant again)so i have to be in a reasonable mood to do it.

DollyPopsOut · 12/01/2007 20:10

Sorry you are feeling pants Foxy and Blonde - hope you get better over the weekend with DHs to help out.

Blonde - St Thomas's is lovely and I would definitely do the tour to get excited if you have the time! I can't remember if you are planning a natural birth but they have a fantastic chill out room in the home from home suite with views over the houses of parl and london eye. Even though I was induced, I sat in it for a bit at the start and looked at london in the dark with all the twinkling lights. It was fabulous! That said, the actual labour ward is probably pretty much like any other. Rooms quite nice, functional, own bathroom, close to the theatre etc. All the drugs you can eat as well if that's what you need. Am deeply envious. BTW, are you going to your girls' weekend? I do hope so. I would, provided it wasn't somewhere remote.

Am seeing the consultant on 31st for the CS discussion. Apparently it won't be the great man himself but one of his team and the MW today told me to expect a fight . Oh dear. May have to play the bonkers card if the first man says no.

Estimated weight - I think from scans is a bit of guesswork. I had lots with DD1 and they weren't esp accurate. They reckoned she would be about 8.lb 8oz and she was 9lb 13!! Sorry, I realise that isn't what you want to hear.

Am debating the Phil and Ted option for the girls. Does anyone have one and do you like it?

Can't wait for the chinese take out to arrive. Am starving. Hope you are all having a good friday XXXXX

foxabout2pop · 12/01/2007 20:11

Magpie sorry to hear about your gestational diabetes How does that affect you on a day to day basis?

Rosy/Kitty/Mossy - believe it or not, DH should retire in Feb (same week his baby is due ). Under new legislation which came in in Oct 06, he's entitled to ask to carry on working. His HR dept. wrote to him to that effect in Oct. He wrote back saying "I want to carry on working until Jan 2008, when my wife will return to work after her maternity leave". Since then we've heard nothing. Its been three months now DH has been chasing them. I rang them myself today and was arsey but reasonable (don't want to piss them off too much IFKWIM). They've already verbally said he can work until June but there may be a takeover in June and the new company may not decide to employ him. We don't know if he's entitled to redundancy or will just be kicked out. We need to get some advice re. the new legislation and what rights he has come June really. Ideally he needs to be treated like everyone else and not treated differently due to his age if the company is taken over, but I am not sure how strong the legislation is.

Re. the mortgage, we were "sold" a mortgage by our broker at 4.84% interest with a mortgage holiday, but the broker has now discovered the holiday only relates to the 5.8% mortgage!!!!!! This after 5 weeks of processing our application.

The broker has now offered to find us another deal and give us their fee (just over £1,000, which the mortgage Co. pays them, not us). We may end up going for the 4.84% deal and going interest only for 6 months until I return to work.

I was at a conference yesterday on "Financial Inclusion" and one of the presenters said that reserach has found that 20% of people, when faced with sorting out their own finances, suffer "boredom, depression and the desire to switch off".

That's how I feel about all this crap TBH. I just want to know I can take 10 months off and won't have to return to work after 6 months...I really don't want to have to be sorting out all the messy detail 8 weeks B4 our baby is due, it should have all been sorted by now

Anyway sorry to be a bore and thanks you lot for keeping me sane

Mossy whats the latest with your bank saga?

foxabout2pop · 12/01/2007 20:18

We had a Waitrose ready meal curry tonight - they are wonderful; almost like restaurant nosh.

DS2 will have DS1's newborn clothes, plus three suits from my Italian friend, but I have bought some Vertbaudet sale velour snuggy winter sleepsuits and a funky purple snowsuit as I guess he'll need an extra layer (DS1 was a summer baby).

held my friend's 8 week onld girl this everning. She was soooooo snuggly and gorgeous I didn't want to give her back

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 20:40

So of all you people that have a Waitrose, I think our nearest is either in Chester or Manchester!

Anyway I tried to recreate one of dh's lovely meals for tea (as dh is out) from his Jamie Oliver book. It has pasta, posh cheeses, lemon juice and some pine nuts. When he made it it was lovely. My attempt tasted - sorry to say - like sick. So I'm going to have some Findus Crispy Pancakes and start digging into the Quality Street!

Foxy what does your dh do? I'd imagine that some companies will be more aware of the age discrimination laws, like public sector etc., than others? I think the main problem is that they're so new, that there haven't been any real test cases in court yet. Having said that, I would imagine no company wants to be the first to end up in court for breaking the new laws, so maybe there is hope for your dh?

As for the bank, NatWest put their defence in at the end of last week; I have replied to them in no uncertain terms and copied in the court so the ball is in - well, "their court", I suppose. We'll see! I'm hopeful anyway.

Dolly why would you have to fight with the consultant, have I missed something?

Divastrop what do you mean? Surely most MNetters are all 16-24 year old attractive women? I know I am lol!

I'm watching Dog Borstal atm and our two are going a bit mental 'cos they think that there are dogs barking in rl.

The pets are happy though; they got the remains of that sick pasta stuff but they loved it!!

LunarSea · 12/01/2007 20:42

Amie - must be something in the air around here - mine's apparenly heading for about 10lbs 2oz too. Wouldn't be a total surprise I suppose as ds was 9lb 2oz.

divastrop · 12/01/2007 21:24

moss-i meant i thought all female online gamers were attractive 16-24 year olds.

im just a fat, pregnant ,almost 30 year old with 6 million children and a fanjo like blackwall tunnel on a rainy day.

i think my nearest waitrose is probably manchester as well.i am assuming its a supermarket of some kind?.i really need to go to london and find out whats happening in reality these days.

theres a few mums i see in ds and dd1's playground who are expecting and due this month+next month,i will be even more impatient when i see all the little weeny babies in their prams.
