Possibly.

Mossy, another vote for the grobags. They can't slip under the covers, so that is one less thing to worry about. I bought 2 of mine on Ebay, and they have been brilliant.

eidsvold · 21/01/2007 22:03

the other fab thing too is you only need a bottom sheet and so no need to buy lots of linen. I do have a couple of blankets but they were gifts otherwise dds slept in gro bags and fitted sheet on the mattress.

divastrop · 21/01/2007 22:03

fox-make him a brew and put breast milk in it

the neighbours have been quiet since they got the letter off EH.well, apart from banging and screaming kids but im in no position to complain about that with the amount of noise mine make.that sort of noise you cant control, though, thats the way i see it.if only children had an off switch and a volume control...

i decided to use my narky mood in a positive way and clean stuff-ie the manky fridge which was starting to look like that one off 'the young ones',kitchen floor etc.and i sorted out what i have got for the baby.2 packets of nappies,a snowsuit(if its a girl) and plenty of bedding.think a trip to asda is in order.

sazzy-although it was a different situation i have also been through pregnancy+birth on my own.the bleed you had sounds scary, glad all is ok for you now though.

i'm off to the family planning in the morninggot to have swabs taken so they can fit a coil when baby is 4 weeks old.i couldnt face the thought of sterilisation in the end

LunarSea · 21/01/2007 22:34

Moss - I saw sleeping bags in T K Maxx the other day for quite a bit less than the grobag ones.

foxabout2pop · 22/01/2007 05:41

Dolly and Diva - thanks for your sound advice regarding that arse at work [snigger]. Cheered me up

Diva - I'm so glad your neighbours have realised what arses they are - even though it took EH to make them - good for you!!

Eids/Mossy - what were your DH's laughing at (re. cool breeze and swings?)? I've lost your plot...

On the sleeping bag thingies, I bought some for DS and he hated them - used to try and escape so I didn't use them for DD. I bought two, but stupidly bought a version with a front zip, so the zip end scratched his little chin. Might try them again for this one though - Lunar I'm going to look in TK Maxx as well

can't decide whether to have wheetabix for brekki, a 2 day old croissant warmed, or a large piece of chocolate.

hmmm decisions, decisions...

34+1 (boy)

eidsvold · 22/01/2007 05:46

fox a huge 31 (almost) weeks pregnant whale trying to get in and out of a hammock. Cool breezes and swinging - lovely - trying to get in and out - not so lovely sight.

foxabout2pop · 22/01/2007 05:50

Eids - now I'm laughing too. Does DH just tip you out?

eidsvold · 22/01/2007 06:00

nah he just stands smirking and watching. The dds are more likely to tip me out with their vigorous pushing and trying to have a go too...... but with a cool afternoon brreze and a swing what more could you ask for

3rdTriMossTer · 22/01/2007 06:25

Morning all,

Foxy that guy sounds like a total w*nker. Love the idea of putting breastmilk in his tea though!

It certainly does seem that colleagues go out of their way to pick on pregnant women.

I can't work out which it is. Whether it's just the normal low-level nastiness that goes on but you notice it more because you're more hormonal and therefore also find it harder to deal with (I certainly can't do assertive as well as I could pre-pg that's for sure; I veer far too much towards the submissive or agressive extremes depending on the day!) or whether they deliberately go out of their way to pick on you because you're pg. Reading your stories it sounds like it's actually the latter (probably with a pinch of the former just to make it more difficult)!

Dolly / Foxy I hope you manage to kick some butt today. I don't even have an HR department ineffectual or otherwise!

Lunar I'll have a look in TK's at weekend that's a brill idea!

Diva I'm made up your neighbours have stopped with the karaoke. That must be a weight off your mind.

Foxy I do hope you went for the chocolate.

I have been awake since about half five, it's not so bad as I'm normally up at ten past six of a week day to get ready for work anyway, but I do feel very, very tired now.

Still only 28 working days to go until maternity leave!

kiwibella · 22/01/2007 07:02

another busy weekend on the board, girlies... and another weekend gone until - dum, dum, dum dum!! The organisation amongst you all is amazing. I'm afraid, I'm still in the same league as Diva... keep meaning to sort things out. Dh and I even walked past the baby aisle's while doing our shopping yesterday and commented that we must pick up nappies some time. Denial ?!?!

I cannot believe the total arse at your work Fox... it is unbelievable that someone would think to behave like that - he obviously hasn't been following the Jade Goody saga!! I hope that you have been keeping a diary of the little things he has said and done so that you are armed for your meeting . Good luck. Hope you picked the chocoalte... and then the weetabix, to keep you going

Eids... the thought of getting in and out of a hammock is hysterical. But, the idea of being cocooned in one feels soooooo relaxing.

Hope you have a great day after your early start Moss.

15 working days it feels like forever .

3rdTriMossTer · 22/01/2007 07:12

Morning kiwibella I am trying to get organised but we keep saying, "next payday, next payday, next payday".

However I have only two paydays left, and then on my third payday I'm due!

Anyway I had better get my boots on and get my sorry ass down to the train station.

LaidbackinEngland · 22/01/2007 08:07

Wow - you lot are up early ! Roll on maternity leave for you and perhaps a few lie ins ( toilet trips permitting)

Welcome Sazzyb... glad things have settled a bit for you now you are on the homewards straight !

Talking of breastmilk in tea.... has anyone else started to leak some colostrum yet ? I was most shocked when I felt a little wet patch in my bra ( having been very used to feeling a little wet patch in my knickers )

We had a late Christmas lunch with my family yesterday as we were still in Sri Lanka at the usual time. Kids got more presents !

Haven't been able to find anywhere decent to rent as yet and so have tentatively decided to stay at my mums for 6 months (yes mental I know)and speed up our house hunting in Cornwall. It's not bad here as we have an annexe within the house, babysitting on tap and much lower costs.... but there is only one kitchen . We shall see.

33 + 1 Boy

foxabout2pop · 22/01/2007 08:37

Hi

well you'll be proud of me - for my breakfast I had: 2 weetabix, one croisant with butter and nine squares of chocolate !

Am at work now...

hmmm my turn to make the tea I think! [wink}

Mossy/Kiwi - I agree about the hormonal bit - the problem is that I don't trust my judgement atm as I react emotionally. The irony is that I am actually able to help this guy with a desk if I chose to, but due to his behaviour I am now not going to. He can feck off as far as his needs are concerned

Eids - am very of you moving to Cornwall in six months. You'll have your Mum to help when the baby arrives, then a new life in one of the niceest places on the panet We're going to Cornwall this summer if we can get our act together to find a cottage!

So today is the most depressing day of the year apparently - lets keep our chins up then !

20 working days to go 4 me ...

Rosylily · 22/01/2007 09:26

Fox there's drawbacks to work places being pc because that guy needs things thrown at him from the rubbish bin but it might not look good! Couldn't you be kind and arrange a desk for him...in a corner facing a wall

Hey I can't keep up though. So I'll just talk about myself

In among one of my heaps I found a card for a cleaning company who also do ironing and charge £7.95 per hour so I'm going to pluck up courage to ring them. I feel all shy about it for some reason. I'll be cleaning the house like mad before they come

We have all been so housebound for ages its such an effort to go out at the moment! Had to coax and cajole dd back to nursery today and ds1 is off sick now so we are still limping along. I am blaming everything on being pregnant for now!

Rosylily · 22/01/2007 09:52

Oh yeah laidback, good plan! You won't want to be in the kitchen much anyway for the next while I never leak before birth (so far) though its really common I think.

Then once baby arrives my milk comes in very quickly though and last time it only took a day for ds2s meconium to turn to ordinary poo which impressed everyone in the hospital. [puffed up proud emoticon] Hadn't stopped feeding for 24 hours since the birth of course!

eidsvold · 22/01/2007 10:18

fox I am not going to Cornwall I am stuck here in Brisvegas.

Think I overdid it today - moved a chest of drawers from our room to the dds and then from the baby's room to our room and then shifted our furniture around. Have a bit of a pain in my side - think I should have waited until dh came home.

Lovely end to the day - took the girls swimming when dh got in.... good to wear them out - then they go off to bed without too much hassle. They love it - swimming that is.

foxabout2pop · 22/01/2007 10:25

Eids - oops sorry I meant laid back (PG brain)!!!

Laidback - I haven't had any colostrum...could you please send me some of yours, so I can put it in my male colleagues tea?

sazzybee · 22/01/2007 10:48

Morning all

Foxy - that bloke sounds like a complete prick. I'm glad that you are the person with the power to give him a desk and you're not giving him one. Serves him right.

TheBlonde - I am due the day before you - 33 weeks today

I can't wait to finish work - 20 more days to go. Unless the consultant tells me today that he thinks I might go into labour much earlier in which case I might leave earlier. I want a bit of a rest before my life gets turned upside down

muppetisacat · 22/01/2007 11:04

Foxy - that bloke at work sounds a total moron... where the hell do people get the idea they can treat other people like that?

Did you make him some 'special' tea?

Anyone heard from Cath? she posted on the pregnancy board about pains in her tummy etc on friday... Cath let us know if you're ok? You know we're all worrybags!

Rosy - are you allowed to take echinacea whilst pg? Not sure if you are or not but I always find it helps me and the kids when our immune system is low. Holland and Barrett had it on special offer last time I was there.

Finally bought buggy here

It's best for fitting in our boot (which is titchy) and still leaves room for mad dog.

Booboobedoo · 22/01/2007 11:57

Happy Monday.

Actually managed to get some sleep last night (although I must have woken up a good 5 or 6 times). No sleep on Friday night, then I reckon about 3 hours on Saturday night. Then I had to go to the outlaws with DH to pick up the cot etc.

They behaved themselves luckily, but it's always hard work. (I know MILs are a perennial theme on MN, but mine really is insane).

The rocking chair I bought is more like this - I've got loads of cushions and blankets to cover it with, and my lovely inflatable frog-prince footstool from Ikea.

Dolly: Thursday morning sounds great! I may have a plasterer in then, in which case the park might be a better bet, but he's not that reliable, so I'll text you on Thursday morning and let you know.

Congratulations on Jordi's step forward Callie. Sending him lots of cyber-cuddles.

Welcome sazzybee, and congratulations on your pregnancy. . I know I'm nosy, but... how long did you have to wait for a sperm donor? My friend is thinking about it, and someone else I know mentioned there
was a long wait.

Foxy and Dolly: I'm looking forward to hearing your arse-kicking stories. I'm sure you're both women to be reckoned with at work!

Eidsvold: our lovely next-door neighbour gave us his hammock when he moved out last week. It's not really hammock weather right now, but I'm looking forward to lying in it with my baby this summer (if we can get in that is).

With regards to grobags, I was planning to try swaddling first. Any of you experienced mums done that before? I know some babies don't like it, but I'm going to give it a go.

Muppet - that buggy looks really nice!

Sazzy when is your last day at work? Mine is 16 Feb, but I don't do Friday, so it'll be 15 Feb. [yippee emoticon!]

BooBuddy - I swaddled both of mine and they seemed to like it...not that they had much choice - its good for newborns definatly! My meeting is at 2pm so I'll let you know how it does

Dolly where are U? Busy kicking butt somewhere?

3rdTriMossTer · 22/01/2007 14:00

Ooh Muppet that looks really funky!!

Sazzybee do you have your working days on a countdown as well? I have a calendar in work on which I'm crossing off the days!

Foxy good luck in your meeting!!!

Booboo like the chair, I have a rocking chair (although it's from years ago not bought specifically for bfing) does anyone intend to buy one of those bfing cushions that you can get?

Eids you were moving furniture around? No wonder you're knackered!! I had to get dh to take the wet washing upstairs to the tumbledryer it was too heavy so furniture? I don't think I could manage that!!

Rosy "I'll be cleaning the house like mad before they come" lol doesn't that rather defeat the point?

Laidback I haven't leaked anything upstairs, but now I'm nervous! Omg, that's gotta be a bit of a killer during foreplay if your fella's a breast man...

foxabout2pop · 22/01/2007 14:03

Mossy - just off to my meeting

Those BFing cushions are BRILLIANT!!! They make feeding so much easier and help you avoid bad posture - get one!!!

sexkittyinwaiting · 22/01/2007 14:10

hello all. Sorry but I'm too tired to write at the mo. Don't know what's wrong .

Boo I used a sort of swaddling sock thing called a cozy cocoon. It was brill and took all the hassle out of actually wrapping blankets which then come undone. I really recommend them. All mine are girly colours though shouldn't think baby will care though.

love to you all xx

YankeeFish · 22/01/2007 14:11

Moss - yes, I have the bfing cushion as well - heard that is one of those things you HAVE to have - all my friends swear by it.

Booboo (love your name - it is a nickname we have for our dog, actually) Started as Bugga boo - then boober, then booboobadooh!!! And - yes, I will be swaddling, as friends have sworn by it - and it makes a lot of sense to me that newborns would like it. There is one type that you should get - The Miracle Blanket. It is supposed to be better than the ones with velcro - as you can wrap this one as tight as you want and tuck in the ends. I found mine on Ebay £12 each - and got two. Ever heard of book - Happiest Baby on the Block? Its amazing - and all about swaddling.
