Possibly.

Yankee, I didn't get on with the miracle blanket at all

YankeeFish · 22/01/2007 14:37

Kitty, Typical - nothing is going to be perfect for everyone is it? I have such grand ideas of all these miracle baby soothers - and mine will probably scream all the time!! Such is life!

DollyPopsOut · 22/01/2007 14:49

Grrrr! Have kicked some but not nearly enough. Still, there are nearly 2 hours before I have to go and get on the bus to get herself, so plenty of time for some good a**e kicking action.

More later.

TheBlonde · 22/01/2007 14:52

Hi all, desperately trying to keep up with all the chat

Bf cushions - I had the cringeworthy named my brest friend pillow but it was very good. It clips round you so you can move a lot without it slipping

Swaddling - I think we did this for 6-8 weeks maybe but just with regular blankets

3rdTriMossTer · 22/01/2007 15:05

Just popping in to share my favourite CV moment with you all today:

Reading: I enjoy a whole range of subjects from autobiograpies to science fiction. I recently read Robbie Fowler's autobiography and am currently reading a book about being trapped in a prison in Bangkok.

muppetisacat · 22/01/2007 16:14

Yes, I just hate the way prisons tend to trap you...

divastrop · 22/01/2007 16:34

moss...i dont get it?

i dont 'leak' colostrum but it tends to appear if they are ,erm, stimulated

my neighbours have now taken to throwing rubbish over the wall into our back yard.how very mature of them

i'm having a crap day today.had a row with dp beforeand i just want to curl up and hide till march.

has amie been on recently?

is there anybody else on this thread who is planning to bottle feed??

32+5....3,674,567 years to go.

3rdTriMossTer · 22/01/2007 16:45

Diva, I'm just being mean to the poor lad. I know it's not very mature of me! But there aren't many perks in this job; it just made me chuckle; he's applying for a job as an Accounts Clerk, so his interest in books about Robbie Fowler and Bangkok prisons isn't really that relevant!

I can't believe your neighbours are chucking rubbish over your wall. That's awful, that woman sounds like a pointless waste of space. Total oxygen thief. for you, and it's really difficult because you can't exactly go round and slap her because you're pg and she might start something.

Sorry you're having a bad day. I hope your dp realises the error of his ways and makes it up to you with chocolate and a nice back rub.

3rdTriMossTer · 22/01/2007 17:59

Home time in two minutes....

.... I think dh is cooking chicken breasts wrapped in bacon in a white wine sauce for tea... yum yum yum!

See yez later!

foxabout2pop · 22/01/2007 18:02

Diva - just think of all those pooey nappies you can chuck over her wall in a few weeks [winks]

Am your nips still get "stimulated"

Mossy - I interviewed candidates for a temporary post today...and...OMG this is so embarassing.

At 4.10pm, I took the last candidate into a side room for her 30 minute test. I said "I'll come and get you in 30 minutes".

Went downstairs....got involved in something....lalalala

At 4.40pm (i.e. 50 minutes later) I suddenly remembered her !!!

Worse thing is, she was the best candidate. So if she accepts the job, she'll remember that I am the pillock who left her in the test room and forgot to collect her...

I just said "OMG I'm so sorry, its because I'm PG!!"

AmieR · 22/01/2007 18:52

Diva - I'm still here.. Thanks for asking after me... Just had a complete nightmare with internet connections at work, and now my power adaptor for my laptop has blown up and apple want to charge me the £50 for the privilage of getting a new one! Why do we get 'taxed' on substandard goods from these huge companies.. anyway DH let me nab his for a while this evening to get my Mumsnet fix! at your neighbours.

My nips have been leaking for a while now! Lovely!

We've got some normal bedding and mothercare own gro bags.. we'll see which goes down well and maybe invest in some more.

Eids - would love to laze in a hammock.

decorating over the weekend went well, and apart from glossing 2 more doorways we're all done! Hoorah!

Furniture construction this weekend! not so hoorah!

Last Thursday was consultant appointment, all went well and BP had gone back to what it was... thankfully, I was startign to stress, but knew that was the worst thing to do! Made my 36 week appointment with MW today, receptionist asked if it was my booking in appointment so I said 'Nope, 36 weeks" she then laughed down the ohone at me and said "You prob won't need it then!" I was like.. thanks love! LOL

Callie - was me who asked bout pump, thanks! Glad Jordi is doing well!

Welcome Sazzy!

Muppet - Buggy looks the Biz!

Fox - I'm sure she would understand :D

Lunar - can't remember if you're around for a splash this week, I didn't get there last week after getting stuck in teh traffic on the way home, luckily I wasn't my DH if that makes sense... took him 4 hours to get back from Northampton!

sexkittyinwaiting · 22/01/2007 19:04

grr, bought a car seat yesterday off ebay and today two different people told me they had spares . That's £30 down the drain then.

Booboobedoo · 22/01/2007 19:14

Kitty: I was given a car-seat by my SIL yesterday, but it's got mildew on it! I've got Precious First-Born syndrome bad, and there is no way his little legs are going to be resting on mould every time he gets in the car!

Foxy & others who mentioned swaddling techniques: think I'm going to try with normal blankets. My friend's a paediatrician, and she's promised to show me a foolproof method. (Is there such a thing with babies?).

Looking forward to hearing foxy and Dolly's kick-arse stories.

Amie: glad your BP's gone down.

Diva: you're so good at restraining yourself. I know it would only make things worse, but I'd be sorely tempted to retaliate.

Mind you, I'm just a big ball of rage atm. The people who own the flat upstairs are having the roof fixed, and the scaffolders trod on my snowdrops. I went out and told them off like 5 year olds. They all stood around staring at their shoes and mumbling 'sorry' at me. Good lord, I'm a dragon.

Yankeefish - glad you like my name . I haven't heard of that book. Don't know if I could take in one more chilcare fact atm. My brain is stuffed to the gills with Tracey Hogg and Sears stuff.

EDD 3/3
34+1
Boy

OP posts:
sazzybee · 22/01/2007 19:49

Booboobedoo - Trod on your snowdrops? I'm not bloody surprised - I'd be furious

I didn't have any problem with the donor but I may just have been lucky - I decided to choose him on the basis of my ideal man and they happened to have a donor who matched that description.

fox/3rdtrimosster - I'm supposed to be finishing on the 16th and I am definitely on a huge countdown

But, true to form, things didn't go smoothly at my AN appointment today. I have polyhydramnios - too much amniotic fluid. Which means I'm unlikely to go to term because I've got so much fluid I'm probably going to pop before my EDD! Unfortunately it also means the baby is breech because it's quite difficult for them to get into position when they're floating about. So what I thought were his hands are in fact his feet!

Bah

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with him though which is the main thing. And not hanging around waiting for him to arrive can only be a good thing

They've told me to get my hospital bag packed just in case

Jaysecond · 22/01/2007 20:00

Wonder how many threads we have had since that very first one way back? Maybe if i am feeling anal enough later i might have a flick back and count up, it must be three or four, all of 1000 posts (ish) god theres some hours put in!!!

How is everyone? Not long to go now6-10 weeks for the majority i guess, i have 6wks and 4 days or 45days or 1080 hours.......hmm maybe i am anal enough to do the thread task i was on about!!!

Well DH away for the night with work so it has been me and DD for the most part of the day. Had to take her for her HIB jab today, god i felt awful, pretending to cuddle her while all the time plotting with the nurse to stab her leg with a haorrid sharp needle she wasnt too bad at first but then realised it hurt and had a good 3 mins screaming, then she just sobbed a bit.......i was dieing inside hate those jabs but i am of the opinion they do more good than harm, so has to be done!

Welcome sazzybee, and good on you! A friend of mine went through the same thing. re sperm donor, i think its becoming more common than we think. I also think that its great as women we can have a choice to do decide what we want, and then o make it come true! Sorry you had bleeding in the early days, youre on the last leg, so to speak now!!

Swaddling, my DD hated having her arms in and would protest, squirm and whinge if i tried it, so i just used grobags which she loved and still uses now (shes one) for me i will be sticking to them. Am hoping, as i have the amby nest, that the 'boy' will think hes stil in the womb and there wont be any need for it anyway... but as someone said, i dont think there are any miracle ways of settling them!

As for the collustrum conversation, i had literally stopped BF for about two weeks when i found out i was pregnant, so i have had a constant, but thankfully small, amount of leakage since day one! in fact on the odd occasion i have seen small dots of white milk......!

Callie, thinking of you with your little one, hoping it wont be long before he comes home!

Fox, love the breakfast menu, i might have to steal it for tomorrow!!

Well done Muppet on getting your buggy, i still havnt got one yet, am thinking will go for the mountain urban double, saw one on Sat and treid it out for size in the boot, fits ok so will see!

Hi dolly, theblonde and Aime, havnt seen/spoke for a while, glad we are all still knocking about somewhere!

Diva hope DP made it up with you, i hate it when i argue with DH

Kitty why dont you resell the carseat you bought on ebay and get one of the others?

Moss i am coming round to yours for dinner or failing that can you loan out your DH to come and cook for me!!! a bowl of cereal for me tongiht, cant be bothered to cook when DH isnt here.

right going to post this b4 i lose it all, spk in a bit!!

Rosylily · 22/01/2007 20:07

Sazzybee, everynow and then in pregnancy section I've seen some descriptions of specific positions to get yourself into which can turn the baby. Does anyone know? Or you could post a thread in that section, there are some doulas and midwives who often respond and really seem to know their stuff! Who needs baby books?

foxabout2pop · 22/01/2007 20:22

Hi - am still at work. My maternity cover is starting 2 days before I leave which is great as I can handover stuff to him properly. He seems really nice butI don't want him to be better than me

Aime - I got in a real panic when I lost my internet connection at home - how can any of us survive without MN?

Kitty - that would really piss me off too, 'cos I'm so mean! I agree you could try and sell it again. What type is it by the way?

Boo - LOL at the thought of you wagging your finger at those builders serves them right for being so careless. We had our meeting today and I took the minutes (she who takes the minutes has the power) so everyone will get sent my version of events. I bought up the issue of this guy and they all agreed he is completely out of order and will have to vacate my desk when I tell him so.

So there! [pokes tongue out]

Sazzy - I'm finishing 16 Feb too - snap I reckon you'll be our second one to pop you know!!!

Jay - I feel the same as you about the jabs. Mine have had single MMR so they've had extra needles and I always feel really evil tricking them into staying still. I always get them a MacDonalds afterwards as its the only time they're allowed McD - so they agree to the totiure in order to get a treat

19 days to go

divastrop · 22/01/2007 20:30

are baby books actually written by women who've had babies?

fox-i was tempted to throw the stuff back but i realised i would just be stooping to her level and i know i am way above that .think i'll just take photos of stuff like that and if it carries on go to her landlord and complain.

i dont really 'make it up ' with dp,its more a case of me accepting the error of my ways then later on thinking 'eh?wtf did i do that was so bad?'.

i posted a thread on feeling depressed and pregnancy but havent had any replies sofar

i cant wait to not be pregnant anymore, then its my turn to kick some ass.the trouble is even if i'm angry atm people think im a wimp cos i burst into tears so easily, thats why i'm in non-confrontational mode.

moss-i got sleeping bags from asda and tesco which were alot cheaper than grobags and had poppers on rather than zips.
dd2 was in hers till a month ago,now she has a duvet.she never liked being swaddled either.

AmieR · 22/01/2007 20:48

Fox - The internet loss at work has been a nightmare, we can't check finances quickly with bank, withdraw DD's... get emails..

having no PC at home is like having my limb removed! drastic I know...

Diva - sorry you're feeling so down.

oh, DH has a question..

he wants to know how soon its "OK" to take babies swimming.

Many thanks

AmieR · 22/01/2007 20:52

he's just curious as his Folks wants to take us to a centre parcs in May.

LunarSea · 22/01/2007 20:53

Laidback - I've been leaking slightly since about 4 weeks. In fact it was the first sign I had, even before I was overdue!

Amie - yes should be on for this Thursday.

divastrop · 22/01/2007 21:10

amie-think it depends on the policy of the place itself but generally ive been told when theyve had all their baby jabs its fine-ie after 4 months.

Jaysecond · 22/01/2007 21:14

oh, forgot to say, been teaching DD to drive hehehehehehe!!!

Jaysecond · 22/01/2007 21:16

When DD was born i asked my HV and MF about taking DD swimming, they said to me that they dont HAVE to have had all their injections and could go as soon as i wanted to take her. Have to say though i did wait till she had had them all.

CallieNewMum · 22/01/2007 21:42

Hello

Thank you SO much for the card, you lovely ladies. I'm guessing Kitty wrote and posted it so double thanks to you! It was a lovely surprise this morning, after not very much sleep at all last night.

Jordi is now on two-hourly feeds. He was on continuous feeding for quite a while cos he was a bit sick when they tried putting him on one hourly, but they went back to it yesterday and he was fine (once they gave him a bit of Gaviscon on top, I kid you not!) and he was promoted to two-hourly this pm and all seems fine. Have had a few more goes at the breast - the left side works fine and he latches on ok, the right is a bit more difficult, but he nearly got it today. We've oinly tried four or five times in total though so it's all practice. I'm just concerned about my milk levels which aren't huge but I'm trying not to worry overly. Have to say I hate the sight and sound of the bloody pump....

He had a visit from the physiotherapist today because his right foot is over-flexed upwards, which they say is positional talipesis (sp?) but just needs massage to correct and not anything more, which is a bit of a relief. My nephew actually had full-blown twisted inwards talipesis (club foot) and needed surgery and ongoing treatment, so it's good Jordi doesn't.

I went to the hospital twice yesterday and had a lovely cuddle with him in the evening, not doing skin to skin or trying to feed just regular in the arms looking at him, and it was just magic. It's quieter at night because only parents are allowed in, so there was me and a few of the mums I've got to know just sitting with our babies next to their respective cots. It made everything seem worth it. I just wish I could be there tonight but I was up all afternoon and evening and I didn't sleep much last night so I'm knackered and need to rest. Saying that, I've got to go for the final express of today then get some sleep before the cycle starts again at about 1.30 in the morning.

Glad to hear you're all still moaning about being pregnant - keep up the good work. I really wonder who will be next. I sincerely hope whoever it is is whoever is supposed to be first more or less - I would not wish this experience (apart from the amazing part of seeing my son) on anybody. You keep those little ones in and cooking while you can. Thinking of you all too. I often write an entry in my head for you all even when I can't actually make it to the computer.

Love Callie and Jordi
Oh yes, I don't know how to put pictures up - can someone point me in the right direction?
