Katy44 I agree, I took my photo bucket ones off last night as I was only comfortable with them being up for a short period of time. I think a yahoo group would be the way to go for baby pics if we wanted to share them. Easy to forget how public the WWW is.

Hope you're feeling better, Maveta - obviously it your bump's way of telling you that your midwife was talking a loads of old bollocks about needing to diet. It always pays to listen to the bump when it comes to food . I feel like hobbit at the moment with breakfast, then second breakfast, then elevenses, lunch, mid afternoon snack etc etc . Probably have hariy feet, too, but thankfully can't bend over to have a good look.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 11/01/2007 16:58

Maveta, good luck with the gest diabetes test tomorrow.
Runny, glad your SPD has been diagnosed and they are taking action.
Isabelly, where in Canada are you from?
1B3, loved all the swearing at the PC - classic! Lovely pics as well.

Can't think what else! I am really moody today as knackered after waking up with the wind (the weather-type that is!) and poor Becky has been getting in the neck! Poor lamb - she is upstairs with all the clean towels out putting her toys to bed! Ahhhh bed - what a lovely word.

Better go and see what is going on as v quiet up there!

EllieK · 11/01/2007 17:11

just been pondering on why it is that those of us with older partners all do the thing, me included! it's daft cos i love being with an older man, (and 1becomes3 i have an 18 nearly 19 yr old and a 16 yr old to look forward to meeting too!) and I don't see anything wrong with it, but still find myself anxious as to what others might think of it! Am learning to think 'sod them' and just enjoy something that I know works for me! we even talked last night about the possibility of having a child together in the future (prompted partly by AngeG, as they are the same ages as we would be when I'm likely to want another one!)
he is as i type on his way here to stay until sunday. loving it! x

1becomes3 · 11/01/2007 17:18

I don't even notice the age gap TBH, only when I write it down.
it should have been not
I love my old man!

liath · 11/01/2007 17:25

If the kids we've had already are anything to go by, there are going to be some seriously gorgeous babies born in April 2007 !

weeonion · 11/01/2007 17:28

liath - i love that idea. feeling v jealous of all the lovely LO out there. cant wait til this bump arrives, til all the rest frm this thread do too and the hard times from pg are worth it!

scary how quickly time is flying!

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 11/01/2007 17:37

Has taken yonks to read both threads!

Nothing exciting happened today - went back to work - nothing exciting happened there either.

Man came to clear my front drain (again) this evening - said (looking at bump) - "that wasn't here last time"

No sign of cotbed or changing unit - dh is more stressed than me about it - he thinks if you pay for something you should get it asap - did order it on 21 December! But 12 working days delivery so not really too bad and I did order it now so wouldn't get stressed! Slightly tempted to ring and cancel order though!

I have been domestic goddess tonight and make braised por in cider and beef burgundy for tomorrow.

Must go feed the boys ... will catch up later xoxoxox

IsabellyMoi · 11/01/2007 18:25

Liath - I love that thought as well!

SOL - I'm from London, Ontario (the 'other,' much smaller London!) but have spent most of my life in Africa. DH also from Ontario but considers Calgary, Alberta 'home' as well.

CornflakeKid - your dinner sounds wonderful...can I come over?

I think it was on this thread months and months ago that someone was talking about the Channel 4 documentary 'Life Before Birth' (about foetal development). Anyone know what I'm talking about? Friends of ours had recorded it and we went over to their place to watch it last night. Fantastic. My DH can be a real softie and was quite moved by it all - he's been interested, involved and excited all along but I think this made it more real and marvellous to him.

weeonion · 11/01/2007 18:43

isabelly - i didnt see that programme 1st time round - just tried to do a search for it but it isnt available. shame. hope u enjoy

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 11/01/2007 18:56

One of my aunties is from Ontario. Me and dh lived in Montreal for 18 months 10 years ago. We loved it! I wanted to stay, but dh was bored in his job - boo hiss.

I am on a real downer tonight. I am fed up of being a woman! I feel like a frigging skivvy doing all the housework, all the cooking etc. I am so BORED!! I know the only way we can get round it is by me going back to work FT on mega bucks and getting in a cleaner, but I don't fancy that either! I am also having worries about having 2 children to cope with, even though dd will be 4 nearly. I know people manage it, and more, but I am so impatient and on a short -fuse most of the time. It worries me no end.

Sorry, rant over, but needed to get that all out!

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 11/01/2007 18:56

Just to keep 1b3 happy.I have read this thread and now have arsing well forgotten what i feckin well wanted to say.So athusand sodding apologies if i miss anyone out which i am sodding bound to
Good luck with your test Maveta it is good that they know about how you are feeling.
Poor you Runny.I have a belt corset thing as well.sooo glam. But who cares if it works!?
I have to say you all look fab in the photos and the sprogs are edible!
My arse seems to have disappeared and i have lost all my back fat that i 'aquired'when i was pregnant with ds 7 years ago[i don't think i could have lost it through dieting,i reckon it was hormonal]Anyway am delighted as clothes fit better. BUT..my face is huge at least 3 chins..not happy about thatStill hope it will reduce to at least 1 and a half chins after the birth.Dp been away most of this week and will be away all of next.Just have to pace ourselves i suppose.
Hope all you gorgeous ladies are keeping well and does anyone know the blue bean, pink bean tally?

doginsantasgrotto · 11/01/2007 19:49

Maveta - glad you are feeling better. Will be interested to hear you get on with gest. diabetes check though. i was going to say that I have had two similar episodes that you describe and both have been through lack of food. HOWEVER, when I had my mw appt on Tues, I had sugar in my urine and she said it could be a sign of gest. diabetes but she would check again in 3 weeks time as it was only slight. Interesting heh?

Muminabigtumi - thanks for the comment on my dog, by the way! She is my first 'baby' and I love her to bits. She is called Ruby. Am hoping she will be fine when LO comes along. Love Jack & Russell for names (of dogs!)

Had 2nd antenatal class today. We talked about pain relief options and then practiced relaxation techniques. am really enjoying them and finding am learning loads. So much to take in already. Am planning to take DH along to NCT ones which are a bit more convenient (Saturdays) so hoping that, with two attempts, SOME of it will sink in!!

Am thinking that not only are we the loveliest antenatal club, we are also the best looking!!

DITTO - on all accounts. In fact that is all I've been thinking all day long! DS will be 3.3.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 11/01/2007 20:14

Oh opinions, I was worried that I would get to the end of the copied paragraph and you might say something along the lines of tough shit!

It is just every now and then, I feel I am doing everything. Dh knows how pissed off and knackered I am but is so busy with work, that he is no help at all. I feel like checking in to a swanky hotel for a week, and not have to think about what is for dinner! I always say to dh, what do you fancy, and he says, whatever you want. Can't even think for himself!! SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!

Pesha · 11/01/2007 20:31

Oh yeah i hate that, its bad enough i have to cook the dinner why do i have to decide as well! I remember when i was a kid my mum getting cross at me saying i dont mind and thinking whats all the fuss about and now i know! And keep moaning at dp, why should i have to cook his dinner and do anything at all for him. Yes he's working full time and im not working but he doesnt live here he's not supporting us in fact he used to give me £20 a week (but dont tell anyone I not allowed it!) but doesnt even do that anymore. Mind you Im very grumpy at mo and do seem to be looking for things to moan about!

Maveta - hope the test for diabetes goes ok, i had it in my 1st pg and all was fine. Found it hard going so long without eating and not being sick but managed it!

Runny glad you've been diagnosed now and so getting the help you need.

Have got my stuff i ordered from vertbaudet sale so finally have some maternity jeans they fit, they're comfortable, they actually look quite good and they only cost £10!! Also got couple bits for the baby although the lovely cardi i ordered in size 3months has turned up age1. They keep doing this sending me sale items in the wrong size and by time i get it the right six=ze has sold out and im buggered. Hoping this not sold out yet as is very very cute!

opinionsrus · 11/01/2007 20:35

AS for asking what to do for tea then forget it..if you ask me a single bloke would happily live off pot noodles, either that or take-away every night. I don't ask him anymore, ha!

I feel exactly the same at the moment. Mine is working late this week (no theres no preg paranoia there its just his shift) but it does mean that I literally have to do everything for LO all day long. I'm usually ok till about tea-time and then he takes over for bathtime just cos I find it so mind-numbing! Give me anything to do but please not bathtime. I don't know what it is but I just find it so tedious at the end of the day. The way I'm trying to see it is that the first 12 months will hopefully be a bit of a blurr anyway, as I know it was the last time, so maybe I won't notice the tiredness.

If any single mums are reading this then bloody hell I DO NOT KNOW how you do it. Credit where credit is due. I have just read some of the depression threads and I feel awful for whinging now!!!

muminabigtumi · 11/01/2007 20:41

Hello everyone!
Gosh you've been busy today!
Maveta - hope your test goes ok tomorrow - what a fright you've had!
I am well chuffed as went to Mothercare and our branch actually had a decent sale on! I got four tops that should have cost £84 for £36!! I was really glad cos I have been struggling for clothes particularly for work and I begrudge paying alot for maternity stuff.
I am also very excited as I am just off to pack my bag for my weekend away with Phil so I won't be on this weekend. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend and I will catch up with you all probably on Monday afternoon

Much Love
MIABT 26 tomorrow!!!

P.S My friend had her baby after a 25 hour labour a 9 pounder and it was a boy! YEY!!! So glad it is finally over for her. It will be us lot next!!!

Pesha · 11/01/2007 20:41

Have just been catching up on the er large fanjo thread i mentioned previously and decided i had to share it with you all, its too good to miss!

Channel Tunnel thread!

weeonion · 11/01/2007 20:43

i can sympathise with the whole blokes not making decision- especially re food. My dp has no sense of smell therefore a reduced sense of taste. when he couldnt be frigged coming up with an idea for dinner - i would plump for a pasta dish but lace his with 4 or 5 cloves of garlic. he never realised that he stank to high heaven but did say that people in his office kept asking what he had for dinner for days on end. serves him right!

muminabigtumi · 11/01/2007 20:44

Forgot to say! I went to the Nappy meeting today - it was REALLY good - and VERY informative. My advice would be that if you are at all confused about the whole real nappy thing then contact someone like lollipop who can arrange for you to actually see all the different types of nappies, wraps and liners etc - I really understand what I would like (I think! lol)so I am just waiting for the £45 from the council before I buy them (we have to get them from local retailers I think for the voucher to be valid).

BBCFK - what did you say your perfect Nappy Combo was again? And can you recommend where I can get a Bum Hugger Night Nappy? Thanks!
x

1becomes3 · 11/01/2007 21:06

I never give Dh a choice of what he is getting for dinner, he just eats what he is given, then when he is finished says "if you want some advice i do this this and this"
He thinks he is a bloody master chef, my usual reply is "well make your own fucking dinner then"

I too feel like the general dogs body round the house. Dh seems to think that because he goes out to work every day I should do everything else, he doesn't seem to realise that not only do I work I also have to look after DD and keep the house clean(ish) cook and be pg, I would love to see him do what I do.

Anyway he has gone to wales for the night so I have the bed to MYSELF so I am going to make full use of that and I am off to bed after I finish my work.

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 11/01/2007 21:06

Oooh MIAM - perfect nappy - blimey!

If was going for one size then def onelife - not because of allegiances - just think they are brilliant. Go for the xs velcro wraps, then popper wraps in the bigger sizes - you can adjust them on legs and tummy for a better fit.

If sized nappies - the would say sandys - they are such nice nappies and because they have poppers you don't get wear/dirt on the velcro. For wraps - would go for either the onelife ones as above or motherease rikkis in small - get bigger wraps later when you know the shape of your baby - poppers always work though. I like totsbots but they are quite bulky and if you live in a hard water area they can get quite rough.

For s stuffable nappy - would go for a fuzzi bunz with microfibre weenee cloths stuffed inside. although quite like look of nature babies stuffables - haven't tried them and can't seem to get much feedback on them. Lollipop don't do those though - would have to go online.

I'm not a prefold fan at all - despite being quite cheap just think they can be disastrous in terms of poo explosions on a newborn and puts soooo many people off cloth. shaped nappies ( like those above) contain poo much better.

I have made my own fleece liners to go in my nappies - bought some fleece from fabric shop and cut them to size - cost about £3 for 24.

Other must haves are bucket, mesh, waterproof bag, washable wipes and paper liners - I can't use these as it buggers up my already dodgy front drain.

Bumhugger night nappies - do you mean ella house bumhuggers - or is there another one I don't know about !! You can get these at Lollipop (I think) or online - they have a 28 turnaround on orders at Ellas House - but may have the one you want in stock. I tried these on ds2 in xl and really liked them - but the hemp does take a while to dry and became a bot cardboard like - they don't like being tumble dried very much either. You shouldn't really need different night and day nappies - especially in the beginning - because baby tends to poo so much you would be changing nappies at night anyway - so no need to think about a 12 hour stint in a nappy til they are just wet at night. Even then if nappy doesn't last the night would just shove an extra booster or fleece in. If you go for them as a fulltime set - they are good.

Hope that all helps - may be worth working out your budget first - remembering that if you buy sized nappies you will have to do it again in about 8 months time.

Think CD and nutty are clothies as well
