Just checked my notes and it says if you have any bleeding after 20 weeks you shopuld ring mw or delivery suite straight away. Not in a panicy sort of way tho, says the same for abdominal pain which was what i did couple nights ago and was nothing. Try not to worry although i know thats easier said than done! (we all seem to be saying that alot dont we?!!)

Let us know how you get on but im sure its all fine

Emmymummy · 12/01/2007 19:25

SOL - do ring the midwife, I know I would. I'm sure they'll be able to put your mind at rest .

SOL & Ange - yeah you're right, bugger dd's social diary! I just hate letting the other kid's mum down, but I don't know when else I'll get to meet you all, so stuff it! I'm glad to hear that you all think I should come along.

Have just been reading the due in January thread. Some very funny comments, & I'm glad they are all still able to take the piss out of themselves, even at that stage. Reading it is making me feel very excited though (in a strange, just want to get on with it, bugger the pain sort of way).

RE Nappies.

All I can say on the re-usable ones was how the bloody hell do people manange with "old fashioned nappies" when they have got everything else to do as well.

I am too selfish I'm afraid.

There is no way on gods earth, what with all the tiredness/confusion/pain/sore breasts/crying or more like screaming etc etc etc that I would have coped with them. It was hard enough just to get his pampers changed in time. I suppose after about 6 months it would be perhaps a bit easier though?

BUT ecologically, they win hands down of course. Good luck to you all on the re-usable front!

My take on disposables are :

no 1 Morrison/Asda own

no 2 Pampers

And way down the list for crappiness Huggies.

The supermarkets own brand we found to hold a lot more liquid and actually kept drier than Pampers and are around half the price. Its just a great bog marketing hype.

I would not touch Huggies with a bargepole.

opinionsrus · 12/01/2007 19:48

Maybe it is also a "bog" marketing hype but meant to say big marketing hype. Subtle mistake.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 12/01/2007 20:02

Thanks Pesha and Maveta, I think I am just going to wait until tomorrow before I call. It was just blood streaked in with clear discharge when I wiped after a wee, and was not very much. Haven't had anything for an hour now either. Baby still moving around like a mad thing. I just hate anything that is abnormal, as it freaks me out - as I guess it would any of us.

I am just going to try and relax and enjoy my thai takeaway!! xx

hotlipsmummy · 12/01/2007 20:04

funny how disposables are so different for different babies - personally no1 for us are Huggies Super Dry and we don't like Pampers!! Did try Nature ones for a while and they are fine. More eco friendly. Now they are sold in more places than just Waitrose might try to buy them more often...
DS is a skinny bean though and apparently Pampers are better for fatter babies... From discussions with my nct group at the time all nappies can leak though, esp when they do runny newborn poo seating in their car seats - straight up the back and down the legs!!!! Leaking gets better (i.e. less!) when they are on solids.

DS has been FOUL all day - not well, temp. wheezing, coughing and snotty. 4 kids in his group at nursery have had chicken pox over the xmas period but as the last day they were altogether was 22 Dec, over 3 weeks ago, and we haven't had it yet i suspect we may have missed it. Bit gutted as it would have been better to get it out the way before little one arrives... Still am on the look out for spots!!

Right DH is making chicken fajitas for supper (my fav!) so ought to keep him company in the kitchen at least!

runnyhabbit · 12/01/2007 20:25

SOL - I had a little bloody wipe (sorry tmi) last week. Spoke to mw who told me it can be a symptom of thrush. Turned out she was right, and sure enough the I started itching the following day

Nappies - never used reuseables myself, and can't honestly see me using them for this lo. But saying that, I'd be quite willing to give them a go for ds, especially when we start potty training. As for disposable brands, I can highly recommend Tesco. A lot cheaper than Pampers, unless you go to Asda, and you can by in bulk.

As for dh cooking - have to say he is an awesome cook When we first lived together, I couldn't boil an egg so we had a deal that he did cooking and I did laundry and everything else was split 50/50. He changed jobs, working more hours, and I fell pregnant with ds, so I had to learn to cook, and now we tend to split it (although my roast dinners are far better than his )

Maveta - we have 2 cats, and when one of them goes off, the other always seems happier mind you they don't go off for very long, only about a day.

take care all

xx

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 12/01/2007 20:55

Thanks Runny, I wlll see what happens, but I am not too worried about it for now. Just going to keep my legs up on the sofa and then see what happens.

Your dh sounds great too! We had a new kitchen fitted over the Summer and I hope it might inspire dh to cook. I think he has only cooked for me about 5 times in 5 years!

Maveta, really do hope your cat comes back. I have said this before but I have 2 cats, and I love them to bits!

1becomes3 · 12/01/2007 21:19

SOSPL-hope you ok and are resting up.

I have a bit of a dilema here, must have enjoyed having the bed to myself a bit too much.
Poor DH is so tired he has fallen asleep on the couch, now do I:
A) wake him up and tell him to go up to bed.
B) leave him, stick a blanket on him so he doesnt get cold and hog the whole bed to myself again.

he just looks so peaceful snorring away it would be a shame to wake him.
(thats what I will tell him in the morning anyway)
I'm off to hog the bed.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 12/01/2007 21:34

1becomes3, hilarious! You make me laugh! I think option b sounds perfectly acceptable. I would do the same. The only thing is, he might wake up in the night and come to bed, thus waking you up!

The decision is yours. Whatever you chose, happy sleeping! I have not moved from the sofa for an hour!

weeonion · 12/01/2007 22:09

1B3 - i agree with sexonlegs. get into that bed quick as , sprawl out big time and then if he does wake up he wont have the heart to wake u. make sure he is well wrapped up and less likely to waken!

we have 2 spare rooms at the mo and v often i love to slope off and climb into one of the beds to lounge!

weeonion · 13/01/2007 00:02

folks- how often r u feeling yr lo move? mine seems ot be very quiet and not a great deal of action. i thought this (26 weeks) was meant to be real peak activity time in there b4 she gets too big to jiggle around too much??
has anyone started a kick chart?
am i being paranoid and just worrying too much??

Pesha · 13/01/2007 00:18

Hi WO, thought i must be the only person still up so late, god knows why tho im knackered!!

I am feeling him move loads but this is my 3rd so have been feeling him since 13wks. I was amazed though when I was in hospital on monitor the other day how mant movements i heard him make through the monitor that i hadnt felt at all and some sounded like pretty big kicks and i kept having to wiggle the thing to get his heart beat back as he'd moved so much but id felt nothing at all. At this stage i think there are alot of movements happening you just wont feel so i wouldnt worry about it. Dont know about kick charts really. With dd I had to do one when i went overdue, just mark in box when i had felt 10 movements in a day, had it marked by 9am most days!! Dont really know how they work earlier in a pregnancy. Again i think its something worth talking to a mw about but only really for reassurance and to play it safe rather than it being something to worry about.

Right think i def need to go to bed now seem to be waffling everywhere i go!

weeonion · 13/01/2007 00:24

ta my dear. cant sleep and been bothering dp by rumblin round the bed. even the cat is giving me dirty looks! off to drink ice cold water to see if that livens her...

Pesha · 13/01/2007 00:29

Give her a good old poke!!

Ok really am going to bed this time.

Although i may just pop back and see if anyone else has posted on the thread i just posted on! But then will go to bed!

Emmymummy · 13/01/2007 08:45

Morning - WO, try not to worry about the movements, I have long periods when I feel nothing at all (particularly when I'm at work for some reason), then short bursts when I get loads of kicks / movements. Again, contact your MW who is there to reassure you if you are really concerned.

DD has been driving me nuts this morning - she just makes such a fuss about getting dressed in the morning. She can do the lot herself now, but it takes her forever, and boy does she whinge about it. School mornings are particularly bad as we have to be out of the door at a particular time. I swear, one day I'm going to take her to school in just her knickers to try and humiliate her into getting dressed. Cruel nasty mummy (cackles). She's gotta learn though as when the baby arrives she is going to have to do it...

Anyway, dh has now taken her out to choose some paint for the baby's room (oh my God, its going to end up candy pink isn't it????). At this point in time I don't care as I'm on my own, about to eat some yummy croissants, sitting in the kitchen reading my book and listening to some nice music (i.e. not Pop Jr).

maveta · 13/01/2007 08:56

Morning everyone, just popping in while I have my coffee and try and get moving for the day.

Just want to say, probably yet again, that MN is a great place..it´s so fab that everyone shares even their slightest worries on here about pregnancy or whatever. Via these worries I have gleaned lots of little bits of info that have probably been stored away and if I´m ever in the same situation I won´t panic AS much knowing it´s happened to other people. so yeah, thanks for sharing, ESPECIALLY the tmi bits!

dh got home about midnight last night and went round the block to our cat´s favourite garden and found him. Glad he´s back but yet again we´ve had to find him, he doesn´t seem willing or able to get back on his own. I can´t stop him going out as he wants to so much. We let him out through the roof terrace and he goes over the railing and down over roofs and gardens to ground level but seems to really have problems getting back. At least he has a collar on now, today we´ll get a little medallion with a phone no. on it just for some extra reassurance.

Crazy cat. Whenever we find him he is so happy to see us but doesn´t want to come home. I think he´d be most happy to just wander the street at his leisure but with us by his side. Bad luck, cat.

What are your plans for the weekend? I have set myself a photo album project. Really need to get old albums and a box full of loose photos sorted out before April or it will NEVER get done and in 20 years I´ll have a trunk of loose photos like my mum. Then lunch with the in laws, chill out at home and then there´s a village barbecue tonight. Livin´on the wild side, hey?

flumppootle · 13/01/2007 08:57

Morning emmymummy

Your lo looks scrumptious!! Very at you having peace AND croissants on a sat morning!!
I am currently being subjected to playhouse disney after my rude awakening at 6.30am.
Why oh why is it that we have to wake them up on a school day and they are up with the blimin' birds at weekend??????
Moan over - sorry!

SOL, what a fright you must have got last night, you poor thing. Hope things are ok today and remember to take it easy!
WO, hope that you are feeling reassured (have posted on bassinet thing on your other thread)

Have a good weekend all, even though the weather is pants!

maveta · 13/01/2007 09:01

HI wo, meant to say, just call your midwife, it can´t hurt. I´m only on my first so have no experience to give you except from this pregnancy. Mine moves what I would consider a fair bit but only at intervals in the day and far from all the time. Also when I am walking or otherwise occupied i.e. at work I don´t notice any movement but I put that down to being distracted with other things.

For all I know mine doesn´t move much compared to other people´s!! How often do you feel her?

When mine hasn´t moved for a bit dh wakes him up for me, I don´t seem to have the magic touch but dh seems to do it ´just so´and he always gets him to jiggle about a bit. He´s a daddy´s boy already...

flumppootle · 13/01/2007 09:04

X posted Maveta! Good morning.
Sorting photos sounds like nesting! Glad that you are feeling better now and not worrying so much. MN is great - esp this group some of the other ones sound scary!
Busy weekend here, we have three days to get the house ready for sale
Getting it valued on tues and we have two viewings booked already not sure that we are going to be here by april, but will deal with it all IF that happens. Dont have the energy to worry about the what ifs right now. Enjoy the BBQ

maveta · 13/01/2007 09:09

Hi Emmymummy and flumpootle!

Emmymummy - enjoy your quiet and leisurely morning! Those croissants sound fab.

I have checked my diet sheet and after my weetabix and fairy cake think I should augment my morning meal with a hot baguette with jam and butter

Flumpootle - keep meaning to check out these other, scary, threads..where are they? antenatal? Seems rather odd that people would bother spending time coming somewhere like this just to be horrible to each other??! You think the photos is nesting? hmm..maybe..
Good luck with house thing and you are exactly right to not project forward to april, just fingers crossed fate is shining on you and it will all fall into place!

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 13/01/2007 09:12

Morning everyone

SOL and Runny - hope you are both okay - SOL - you should call your midwife and get checked over.

Bramshott - it is pretty straightforward - you need your MATB1, payslips for 13 weeks out of the last 66 and the form from your employer stating not going to pay you SMP. I needed to find all my tax stuff from when ran my own business as fell within the last 66 weeks...arrgghhh - missing tax exemption form so have decdied to send my tax return assessment instead - don't even know if need to send it as claiming average earnings from the current job and payslips...they will get back to me if wrong, I'm sure!

Weeonion - my baby is quieter too - maybe they have gone on holiday after all! Do tend to poke him now and then and drink juice/eat chocolate to encourage him to move. If carries on will start my kick chart. DS1 stopped doing his nightly nine o'clock kick about 3 days before my due date - mentioned it to midwife on my due date and was rushed to hosp and he was whisked out as he was having late decelerations (heart thing) - but fine when born. DS2 stopped moving after my due date and had to go in everyday to be monitored - all okay - but his heart rate also dropped after each conttraction in lbaour. So am quite hot on the movement thing and would tell everyone to be vigilent - without freaking you out completely (sorry)! I would like a more natural labour this time and less monitoring but for obvious reasons want to be monitored to check all is okay - think will ask to be monitored for 1/2 hour every 2 hours. If have gest diabetes or he stays back to back may go for section anyway.

Ooh he's awake! and for the first time this morning when I woke up his back was on my tummy which was nice - think he is BIG - he reaches my ribcage already

Watching scoobydoo again...but the boys are being good.

Emmymummy - know where you are with getting kids dressed - ds1 is good but ds2 needs help still but keeps running off/hiding.

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 13/01/2007 09:16

Too much talk of food - sugar puffs for me - pretend that buy them for boys but could eat them all day

Morning flumpootle

Emmymummy · 13/01/2007 09:20

mmmmm croissants were yummy.

Flumpootle - yes, how come on a school day they never want to get up (duvet over the head, lots of 'noooooooo' noises emitting), and at the weekend she comes trotting in on her 'horse' at 6.30, bright and breezy, wanting to play? Why why why???? How do they learn to do that so early on in life?

Maveta - village BBQ - I am imagining lots of wizened old Spaniards, folk dancing around a fire, goat turning on a spit, live music, local red wine.....no don't spoil my little fantasy, am very !

flumppootle · 13/01/2007 09:22

Morning BBCK
Lol at suger puffs Have just consumed marmite toast and a cup of Earl Grey - ahhhhh better now!
You said that its Colerne that you live? Gorgeous! I dont know it that well but do know Chippenham. I love all the area around there, we often do a "sunday drive" to soak up all the views. (Not a fan of Swindon!)
