muminabigtumi Im in Runcorn dont know if you had ever ventured here its about 20 mins drive from Liverpool and warrington.
Im trying to have a think about prams and I just cant decide I doubt I will be able to justify the M & P pramette price tag to Ste though and its the pram that I like the most at the mo.There was also the Hauck infinity on kiddicare that I quite like but know one seems to have had that brand before so have no idea on what its like to handle so to speak oooh decisions, decisions

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 15/01/2007 15:30

Bloody hell girls! You lot can talk. Just logged on to have a read, and have made some notes. Want to leave work now, so will be back on when at home with a cuppa and some chocolate and can respond to the trillions of posts on here!
Hilarious reading!!

hotlipsmummy · 15/01/2007 15:39

ooh, Tili buy my Pramette then!!!! V Gd condition, in the Boston Check material and will save you the hefty price tag!! If you are interested let me know and we can take it "off line" to negoiate price etc.

My parents are in Cheshire - I grew up there - but moved to the bright lights of London to be with DH. They are south Cheshire (Nantwich). Know Liverpool area well as well and my grandmother on my dad's side is from there and I did my law training there too! Actually my mum is coming to London in a few weeks so if Tili did want the pramette could get my mum to take it back "oop Norf" with her to save delivery costs...

geordiemacminx · 15/01/2007 15:47

I got the prammete before xmas... reduced from £425 to £220!!! Bargin or what???
There arent any left on their website, although they do have others in the sale. Perhaps might be worth giving them a ring as I was after a moses basket that was saying out of stock but when I rang the order line they had it?

Tili · 15/01/2007 15:52

hotlipsmummy will have a chat with Ste about it tonight its him that gives me the problems with these things. I think its because we dont drive so the pram is really important for us and he sees it as his wheels so it has to look the part have all the mod cons he is a total gadget freak too and is basically plain anal when it comes to these type of decisions.
If it was solely down to me it would all be sorted! men honestly !!

hotlipsmummy · 15/01/2007 15:59

tili, no worries honey . My DH is similar and wanted the Bugaboo as he thought it was well designed from an engineering point of view ..what??? Anyway the price tag and various other factors put us both off. He's been happy with the Pramette from a bloke's view point tho and very happy to push it lots! We don't have the car seat for it as it didn't fit in our car at the time. Rather than get a "travel system" we still got the pramette as we liked it so much - and actually DS has been in it far more and for far longer (as they are out of rear facing car seats by the time they are 9 months) than he has his car seat. But these things are very individual and subjective - as you will be pushing whatever buggy you do get lots and for a long time its really important to be happy with what you get. We spent hours in nursery showrooms and John Lewis road testing them all!

Tili · 15/01/2007 16:16

the pram that we had for dd we were given we were really grateful as we had no money then not that we are rich now like, but are more comfortable then then. we really didnt like it though it looked nice but the wheels were static ones so they didnt turn you had to put all your weight on the handles and swing it around im sure you all know the type im on about and it was horrendous getting on and off the bus with it due to those bloody wheels plus it was awkward to fold down you would have to hand your LO over to a stranger to hold while you kicked the hell out of it to get it to fold.

There is no way im using that thing again plus we dumped it at the back of the shed so lord knows what state its in now anyway !!

1becomes3 · 15/01/2007 16:18

Hello all, I'm ILL
well it's only a cold but bugger me it has knocked me for 6.

Plus the fact that DD has a cold to I am really struggling at the moment.
She has been sooooooooo horrible to be around, she just cries at everything and hasn't given me a moments peace all weekend!

Dh is no help he thinks that he has to work on the house every spare moment he gets, so I get no help.

I was in such pain last night. Had cramp in my leg plus every bone in my body was hurting not sure why, I hadn't even done that much.

so I haven't done anything today and I am still hurting all over.

And to make things even more fun I am officially bigger than I was with DD at full term and I still have so long left to go, I don't know how I am going to cope with being this PG soon!

sorry about that moan, Hope you are all well only popping in quickly while i email some stuff off.

doginsantasgrotto · 15/01/2007 16:20

tili - lovely pictures.
MIABT - I live near Chester. Am enjoying it so far (moved 6m ago) but miss Somerset/Devon where I am from originally. Also, don't think you are big at all ... I have definitely noticed a spurt this last week and am about the same as you.
Bought some lovely clothes in the sale (6-12m for next autumn/winter) at the weekend. Does anyone else feel 'funny' doing this? It feels so strange buying for a baby that is not yet in this world IYKWIM. Couldn't resist though but now feel a bit guilty. Am I being silly?

Also, all this talk about prams and no-one has yet mentioned the Bugaboo? (Apart from MIABT who read the same article as me yesterday!!) We have bought a 2nd hand from a friend and to be honest, bought it quite spontaneously cos a) my sis has one and raves about it and b) rather embarassingly, thought it was the thing to have . Any views ... don't worry if they are not favourable as the deal is done now ... am just curious that they have not been mentioned in any of our chats!

Geordie - sorry can't help you re. outfit but you reminded me that I have my BIL's wedding in mid Feb and still don't know what to wear. It is evening dress but just don't want to be in black and the maternity options are so limited in occasion wear. Anyone have any ideas? I was wondering with this tunic style being so popular in the shops that I might get away with that in a non-maternity version with smart trousers??

nuttygirl · 15/01/2007 16:44

Hello all,

Sorry but haven't had time to catch up on all the gossip. Can't believe how long this thread has got in the few days I've not been on!

Parents went home today, Dad finished the patio and it's looking really nice. Got some sheets for the cot and moses basket while Mum was here so she could advise on what was best! Unfortunately my Aunty rang to say that my parents budgie has died while they've been here but I don't think they'll be surprised, it hadn't been very well.

Bean has been kicking loads the last couple of days, last night in the bath my tummy was jumping all over the place .

hmm...had better go catch up!

maveta · 15/01/2007 16:50

Hey Doginsantasgrotto. I know what you mean about that supersitious feeling rearing it´s´ugly head. I had a clear out of my trunk today (It´s an old metal trunk full of momentos from my childhood) and needed to make space so decided to pull out my old favourite kiddie books and a bag of old matchbox cars that I´ve held on to all this time. I put them in the guest-to-be-baby´s-room and it felt a bit weird, wasn´t sure if I should or not but hey, got to be practical I guess.

I have one of those tunics (not maternity) but the only thing is they can make you look about 12 months pregnant (!) when you are only e.g. 6! I am definitely going for the clingy rather than baggy look as I reckon it´s still the most flattering.

We are going to have a bugaboo, it´s the one we would have chosen but thankfully to save us shelling out, my SIL is passing it on down to us. I am taking it as a recommendation as it has been through 2 families and 3 babies before us, so it must be up to the job! I think we might buy new fleece covers for it though so it feels at least a little bit new, although it´s in really fab condition to be honest.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 15/01/2007 16:58

Right, back from work and have 10 mins before I need to pick Becky up. Came home to have to clear up bloody cat sick - lovely!

Right:

BBCK - rofl at your plastering experience! Also agree about Isabelly paying badminton - how she can do it I don't know!

MIAM - Your weekend sounded wonderful. LOL at Phil texting you to get yourself upstairs! What are men like eh!

Tili - gorgeous photos!

Birdie - fab news about getting your room bak to yourselves. How long have you been having to share for?

WaspElly - another rugby supporter then! I used to support Wasps when Rob Andrew played for them. Then I supported Newcastle as he was running the show, and now I just support England cos he is the top dog! I LOVE Rob Andrew!!

Sorry if I have missed anyone/anything. I read something in You magazine yesterday about the Bugaboo - it wasn't very complimentary. I can't comment on any of the buggies/prams mentioned as haven't experienced them. My friend has the M&P Pramette and raves about it.

I am pissed off with dh again! He has emailed his friends to see if they are up for a long weekend climbing mid Feb or mid March. He is away this bloody weekend, although to be fair B is going to her grandparents. It is me however that has to drive 2 hours to drop her off and then pick her up again on Sunday. We are then both away for a night at the end of Feb.
It just maddens me as he never mentions it and I just find out from his emails.

He just phoned and I was so off with him! Oops!

Right, need to go to pick B up - hope she is in a good mood.

See you later. xx

doginsantasgrotto · 15/01/2007 17:24

Maveta - thanks for your comments re. Bugaboo, superstitions and tunic style tops! You are so right about tunics making you look even bigger and close fitting things more flattering; thank you for reminding me of the fact! I am just fed up with the limited choice of maternity clothing and as it is such an important wedding (DH is best man to his brother), I really wanted to make an impression you know?

Have a lovely evening everyone. DH away with work for the night so am looking fwd to trashy TV and the sofa and bed all to myself (well just me and the dog anwyay!)

Pesha · 15/01/2007 17:36

Quick post again to agree with maveta about tops. Bought a top from new look in the sale on friday thinking it be perfect but when i put it on it clings at top of bust then just goes out and makes me look vast, have decided that i definitely need tops that come in under the bust if i want to look nice! Although some days (like today) i dont care and just shove any old thing on! Have also been looking for a cheap coat in the sale that i can actually do up but cant find any cheap enough to justify it so just have to make do. MIAM am going tesco tomorrow so will check out their clothes then thanks.

WestCountryLass · 15/01/2007 18:08

West Country Folk, i'm not sure I can make the meet up on Wednesday My DD has got the virsu going round with the high temp and the cough and has hardly moved today off the sofa. She might be much better by Wednesday but i'm not holding out much hope as I was rough with it for a week and DS is on Day 5 and still has a temp and she only came down with it today.

Sorry

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 15/01/2007 18:20

WCL, I am not part of the meet up, but really sorry to hear that you and dd have been/are poorly. So many bugs going around.
Hope you all feel better soon. x

weeonion · 15/01/2007 18:25

WCL - poor u & LO - seems to be loads of yukky bugs around. hope u feel better soon.
pesha - u mentionned a coat? have u tried primark? i got one today in teh sale for £15. black ( had them in red and mustard as well) kinda like a swing coat with BIG buttons, fits nicely over bump - plenty of room to spare, doesnt make me look huge and quite "in" at the mo!

maveta · 15/01/2007 18:45

SOL - can SO sympathise re. cat sick. Gave mine some medicine the other day, he carried on to eat one of my spider plants and then vomit 6 (count them!) times - regurgitated cat biscuits - on the kitchen and living room carpets followed by a little trail of foamy white vomit all over the floor.

We have exactly TWO rugs in the entire house, one under the dining room table and one under the coffee table. Can anyone explain WHY WHY WHY they have to vomit on the hardest place to clean??!

Doginsantasgrotto - just wanted to add that you must remember everyone seems to have a preconception that we are going to look like bloated sacks of potatoes anyway so really just turning up presentably normally has people exclaiming in delight. I am REALLY going to miss that part of being pregnant .

maveta · 15/01/2007 18:48

Sympathies from me too WCL.. hope you feel better. I´ve been so lucky so far this winter, I am just waiting for it to bite me in the arse big time!

Re. clothes again, I´ve been just using whatever jackets I can but I will say what have been FAB are those little 40s (?) swing cardigans that button either at the collar or just under the boobs and then flare out. I bought 2 at the start of winter (normal, not maternity) and am getting such good wear out of them and if you are having probs finding a jacket, they help layer you up.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 15/01/2007 19:00

Maveta, fortunately all our downnstairs floors are either wood laminate or tiled, and this was on the tiled bit. Still not nice though, esp as I was feeling a bit queasy through need for food!
I love them to bits, but I hate it when that happens, and also the fact that if it isn't Becky wanting food it's the bloody cats!
Feel like I am a servant!

Right, bath time for Becky, so had better get my arse in gear.

Later!

Katy44 · 15/01/2007 19:16

Oh no
We have no chocolate in the house.
What am I going to do?
Options limited as in dressing gown. And it's dark and cold.
Any ideas?

weeonion · 15/01/2007 19:37

is there no-one you could call to bring it round?? hire a local youth to get some? phone emergency services??

maveta · 15/01/2007 19:38

Not even hot chocolate or nesquik??

Good LORD woman, what are you thinking???

Katy44 · 15/01/2007 19:40

Oh we have hot chocolate but that doesn't count
weeonion, have dialled 999 but they said it was a low urgency case and they didn't think they would get to me until the morning. By which time I will be checked into A&E with a Cadbury drip.
Am off to raid the back of the cupboards.
How is everyone doing? Apart from this issue, I am fine.
Weeonion, did I read that your bump is moving more now?

Katy44 · 15/01/2007 19:42

Maveta, was making chocolate covered strawberries for BIL's engagement party over the weekend. Bought a huge bar, but it wasn't quite enough so I had to use my own personal stash! Made me feel very virtuous, but I never got round to replacing it! They were a huge hit at the party though
