Hello,

So couldn't see a January baby post (probably because no one is mad enough to POAS as early as me!)

Anyway, I thought I would start one (waves). I am 28, this will be DC#2 making my 4 year old DS a big brother which he has been so excited about becoming (we haven't told him yet though as very early days!) I am roughly around 4 weeks and we're not planning on telling anyone for ages so thought I would start a thread so I have someone to get excited with!

Please come and say hello! Xx

Emz32 we're not going to find out the sex either.

Tastes have changed a lot too, can't seem to eat 'strong' flavours like spices and pickles, I tend to eat quite plain foods at the moment!

Emz32 · 13/07/2016 22:16

Glad it's not just my body doing odd things. Seem to be less tired & didn't need a nap today. It is an amazing feat to grow a human so I suppose it's got to affect your body somehow. Heartburn is starting to kick in already. Last pregnancy I had gaviscon on repeat prescription. I ended up swigging it from the bottle. Can you overdose on it?

MagpieCursedTea · 14/07/2016 08:37

My tiredness is easing off now which is a relief! I've got my 16 week appointment the week after next when I'll actually be 17 weeks. I've had constant appointments recently though because of the GD. My sugars have been well controlled so I was feeling hopeful but told yesterday that because I was diagnosed early I'll end up on insulin and I'll be induced at 38 weeks. Really not happy with the early induction. They did the same with DS and it was too early for him. If all the scans go as well as last time, I'm going to stand my ground and wait until 39 or 40 weeks. Dreading that conversation with the doctors though.
Sorry for the rant!

We went on a babymoon last time and it was lovely. Not sure if we'll manage it this time but it would be nice to have a weekend away before the baby arrives!

Constipation Blush TMI alert.
Any remedies or tips? I usually have regular bowel movements but it's few and far between since first trimester. I feel bloated all the time. It's horrible. I am downing prune juice like water and running 4x a week as usual but nada..
DH is calling his parents to let them know about pregnancy and I am still thinking of a creative way of telling my parents and sisters. I think in the end I'll just whatsapp them a scan pic. not v creative at all.Grin

Emz32 · 14/07/2016 15:54

Sorry Lucy I don't have any tips. I have the opposite problem and have done the entire pregnancy.

Sorry it's not the news you were hoping for Magpie. The interference is hard. They should take into account you opinion & feelings.

I am also feeling less tired which is a bonus.

MagpieCursedTea · 14/07/2016 17:20

Lucy when DS gets constipated I get dried apricots and soak them for a few hours then get him to eat them. Works well for him! Otherwise plenty of water (sounds like you're doing that that) and fibre rich foods.

Thanks Emz!

My midwife said for me to try lactulose or fybogel which you can get from all chemists. She said to not take anything herbal as it's really bad for your insides.

I'm pretty blocked up in the toilet department and the lower abdomen strains have started. Oh and so has the blocked up nose!!

On the other hand, today I felt the best I've felt in a while. On top of that I had the baby glow about me, healthy mumma right here.

Emz32 · 17/07/2016 10:01

How's everyone feeling? Tiredness seems to be getting better for me. 16 weeks tomorrow & midwife on Wednesday. Went for a walk yesterday afternoon & took water but kept stopping due to getting light headed, wasn't sure if this is just the heat or being pregnant. It was a leisurely walk & now feel mega unfit (not that I was fit before 😑). Anyone noticed extra body hair? So embarrassing but I feel safe asking this behind a screen... My DH (lovingly) pointed put I had a few hairs sprouting on my chin. Looked today & it's got a very fine soft hairs there that defo weren't there before. Iv had to pluck one long one but rest are short. I did have this before for my DS, please tell me this is normal before I start feeling like cousin it.

Bella1985 · 17/07/2016 10:22

Emz I haven't noticed any on my chin screams for DH so he can do a chin check but I have noticed an increase in hairs around my nipples Shock

Walked up a steep hill last week with colleagues and felt dizzy. I was unfit pre-pregnancy but the dizzyness is a new thing!

16+2 today and midwife appointment on Thursday.

MagpieCursedTea · 17/07/2016 10:56

I have PCOS so the hair isn't a new thing for me Sad luckily I've got very fair hair!
I did quite a lot of walking before I was pregnant. I went to Morrisons yesterday and had to have a sit down at the end whilst DH went through the check out. I get light headed quite easily too. Plus the pelvic pain is getting worse. I hope it stays at this level or I won't be able to walk at all by Christmas!

Bella1985 · 17/07/2016 11:15

Anyone getting pain in the hips when sleeping on one side? It's my left side that's the worst and eventhough I bought a pillow to rest my knees etc its still uncomfortable and I have to roll on my back or right side for a break, which later on might not be a good idea. This pregnancy malarkey is quite hard isn't it! Our poor bodies!

MagpieCursedTea · 17/07/2016 11:43

Yes! And in my shoulder too, it feels a bit like I'm sleeping on concrete even though my bed is normally the comfiest place in the world.

sueevone · 17/07/2016 11:45

Hi Bella I'm having the same problem but it's my right side that's worst. After a few trials and errors the comfiest position I have found is placing a pillow under my knees so that my legs as slightly elevated between my hip and knees. The pillow isn't massive so the elevation isn't too high but it's been the comfiest and doesn't interfere with me turning over in the night which I found with a pregnancy pillow cause I had to reposition myself each time I turned over.

stealthbanana · 17/07/2016 13:15

Hi everyone! Yy to the dizziness, tiredness and pain. My hips and back have been awful for about a week now. I'm up to 6 pillows in bed and DH is starting to complain Grin

Dizziness has to do with increased vascularisation - there is so much blood pumping now for us and baby. So take it easy - it's not you becoming more unfit, there's a real reason for it.

And I have decided baby must be having another growth spurt as I am exhausted! Just woke up from basically 18 hours of sleeping Shock. Am actually a bit confused, I think I might have a giant baby on my hands. He is already measuring extremely large and I weighed myself for the first time since becoming pregnant and I've LOST 3kg since then. My boobs are massive so I must have lost weight elsewhere - and given the mainlining of carbs I figure little greedy guts inside me must be hoovering up all my food!

I emphathise with all feeling rubbish. I've been feeling better this week although slightly drained this weekend due to birthday parties. We haven't told anyone outside family about pregnancy but a very good friend whom I haven't seen in 2months asked point blank whether I was pregnant. Apparently my now-existing boobs gave it away Blush.
I have my 16w appt in a week and a bit but it's with the obs consultant so I don't think she'll be bothering with the Doppler so I probably won't be getting the chance to listen to HB Sad I'm trying to resist going for another private scan because there's no real reason to do so & Dh also thinks I'm being paranoid so being patient until 21wks.

Emz32 · 18/07/2016 09:40

Glad there's a reason for the dizziness. Will just make sure not to push it. Haven't managed a Zumba class since 7 weeks & can't see me doing it now. Especially in the heat. Caught a lovely cold from my DS so that's helping me feel magnificent at the moment. I do remember being more hairy with DS & it soon all disappeared afterwards. Luckily it's very fair & short. Wouldn't have even noticed unless DH had pointed it out. Doesn't realise how lucky he is!! Woke up with pain in my left hip this morning. Reassuring to know it's fairly normal. Nice to be able to talk through everything so you don't feel like you are going mad!

LucySB123 · 18/07/2016 11:01

Morning. Anyone feeling movements yet? I think I may be feeling something but it may just be fart bubbles. Hmm

Emz32 · 18/07/2016 11:24

Iv been feeling movements for last week & half but this is my second so I think you feel it earlier? I do sometimes wonder if it's gas too 🙄 It will become more pronounced. So exciting when you feel him/her.

Bella1985 · 18/07/2016 11:30

Oooooh that's exciting lucy How far along are you and is it your first baby? Haven't felt anything yet.

Agree Emz it is nice to know that others are going through the same thing. Smile

LucySB123 · 18/07/2016 11:51

Yeah. Second one too. Nearly 16wks. But I've been seriously bloated too so I'm always wondering Hmm

MagpieCursedTea · 18/07/2016 12:56

This is my second and I've felt movements for the last week or so. It's my favourite thing about pregnancy!

happylass · 18/07/2016 18:10

This is my first and I also think I've been able to feel something over the last few days.
Had my 16 week appointment today. V reassuring to hear the heartbeat. I did have ketones in my urine though, apparently from not eating enough (I have zero appetite but I am trying!). The midwife didn't seem that bothered but DH will be on my back 24/7 now!

LucySB123 · 20/07/2016 07:57

Phew am I glad today's the last day of the heatwave. DD struggled to sleep and woke drenched with sweat at midnight. I'm struggling myself, with the heat and with trying to stay on my left side. Usually a back sleeper but I think it's from the second tri when they say to sleep in your side?
Have told all of family now and everyone's excited. My SIL is expecting too in February. I thought I would work all the way to 36+ wks but I just feel like starting mat leave now and prepping for baby etc. I am beginning to lose motivation to work slowly but surely. Ugh

stealthbanana · 20/07/2016 08:01

I had an absolutely shocking night's sleep. My hips and back were so loose I was struggling to stay in one spot to sleep. Propping myself into position with pillows and then getting too hot to have pillows near me. Thank goodness DH is travelling and wasn't here! Am going to be a zombie today.

I think hope you can sleep on your back until it's no longer comfortable.
