Hello,

So couldn't see a January baby post (probably because no one is mad enough to POAS as early as me!)

Anyway, I thought I would start one (waves). I am 28, this will be DC#2 making my 4 year old DS a big brother which he has been so excited about becoming (we haven't told him yet though as very early days!) I am roughly around 4 weeks and we're not planning on telling anyone for ages so thought I would start a thread so I have someone to get excited with!

Please come and say hello! Xx

I dropped off the thread, so just remarking my place. It's all gone a bit quiet! Best of luck to anyone with upcoming scans.

Emz32 · 06/07/2016 08:53

Great news Alice. I'm just waiting for the 20 week scan now in mid August. Feels a long way off. Still feeling terrible & getting bigger every day. Feel like I'm expanding everywhere. With my son I just got bloated & my tummy grew. This time my thighs & bum feel bigger already. Joys!

stealthbanana · 06/07/2016 09:32

Hi all - I had a bonus scan this morning as I went to see my fertility consultant about my low Papp a score and a couple of other things. Was lovely to take an extra peek at the little one. He was super active, tumbling about, and is actually measuring slightly ahead of my dates which is good from a growth perspective. And he has extremely long legs and a big head for his age Grin - just like both of his parents!

I'm having a scan next week to check my cervical length as am Hypermobile & therefore at risk of an incompetent cervix. Then nothing til the 20wk scan in early August. It's a waiting game!

Bella1985 · 06/07/2016 22:55

Glad you've had some reassurance stealth and yes you're right, it's a long waiting game! 16 week appt with midwife mid-july and 20 week scan mid August...feels like I've already been pregnant for about 3 years!!

LucySB123 · 08/07/2016 20:04

Just got back from holidays a few days ago. Felt great thought, even ,an aged to squeeze in a few gym sessions. Thought that was the end of 1st tri and nausea but felt pretty rubbish today so maybe it's just the weather!!
Also got harmony back and very relieved it's low risk for all. Smile
stealthbanana what did your doctor say about low pappa? Mine is not as low as my first but still borderline low (0.45MoM) so may still ask my obs about low dose aspirin
Has anyone popped yet? I'm feeling quite a bit bigger this week but maybe it's all the pudding during hols Blush people on the December thread are feeling flutters already so I can't wait!!

Bella1985 · 09/07/2016 09:44

Welcome back lucy I've popped in the last few days, my belly is much rounder at the top, right from the bottom of my breasts and if I pull my belly in, it doesn't move hardly anything! 15+1 and starting to look forward to movements, haven't felt anything but seeing my belly grow is making me realise that this really is happening and movements will be the next step! Grin

Dueindecember2016 · 09/07/2016 09:59

I've popped! My belly had officially bloomed to the point where people now notice. I bought some maternity jeans yesterday and I think I'll live in them even after I've had the baby

MagpieCursedTea · 09/07/2016 10:17

Maternity jeans are the most comfortable jeans ever. I don't understand why all jeans aren't made like that!

stealthbanana · 09/07/2016 10:32

Welcome back lucy and glad the Harmony test all came back low risk. I had a long chat about the Papp A with my fertility consultant and he basically said that the risk of adverse outcome was very very very low but that aspirin does help with pre eclampsia and, given that it is perfectly safe to take aspirin in pregnancy, there was no harm in doing so. But he said the most important thing was to do the regular growth scans from 24 weeks onwards. Baby was measuring quite large at the scan I just had which gives me comfort that my placenta isn't totally useless and wasn't just being propped up by the artificial progesterone.

Anyway, we'll see what my antenatal consultant says when I see him on Wednesday (having a 16w scan as I am hypermobile so am at risk of incompetent cervix - the fun never stops!).

I'm starting to show too - only slightly but there's a definitely hard roundness to my lower abdomen. Not visible unless I wear v tight clothes and I'm still fitting into all my trousers etc but it's coming! Has made me realise I really need to hurry up with figuring out a plan to tell work in the next month or so.

On the downside my hips are starting to really ache....

LucySB123 · 09/07/2016 11:15

Given where my fundal height is I'm really surprised that I have a small belly already. I think it's my gut getting squished because I look more pregnant after dinner Confused DH thinks I need to revisit the idea of telling work at 20wks because he thinks I'm looking "fat" already Hmm
I have my 16wk appt at nearly 17wks so I'll ask the obs abt aspirin then and extra scans...

stealthbanana · 09/07/2016 15:09

I think people at work are not nearly as observant. Plus people are more likely to think you've just put on a bit of weight! I'm still sticking with my plan to wait for 20w before telling - am really hoping summer finally arrives so I can get into floaty dresses for the next few weeks!

Dueindecember2016 · 09/07/2016 18:24

I told my work straight away, around week 7 as I was having pregnancy issues. Saying that, they have already asked me when am I going back to work. Madness.

happylass · 12/07/2016 20:13

I'm a teacher and told the Head when I was around 10 weeks. I just wanted someone in work to know in case something happened. She also asked when I was finishing/going back Confused. I announced it on FB told my other colleagues after the 12 week scan.
Im still in my normal clothes but am holding on for dear life! Think I'm going to have to give in and buy some maternity jeans soon. Any recommendations for the skinny variety? (I'm rather long of leg).
It is quiet on here! When does everyone have their 16 week appointments? Mine's next Monday. Feels aages since the 12 week scan.

Dueindecember2016 · 12/07/2016 20:44

I had my 16 week appointment today and it went well. All my combined tests results were really low and she explained everything in full.

I got to listen to the heartbeat today too, it was very emotional.

I have a private gender scan on Saturday morning, super excited for that.

Bella1985 · 12/07/2016 20:51

I have my 16 week scan a week Thursday. Looked at maternity jeans on the weekend and as I'm the opposite to you happylass and a shortie that loves bootleg jeans I realised that I may hate shopping for maternity jeans as much as I hate shopping for normal jeans!!

Told work colleagues last week so the news is spreading around and had my first uncomfortable encounter today - a lovely lady who I like very much started asking personal questions about what type of birth plan I have etc! Blush I know she meant well and was excited for me but I'm a really private person and don't really enjoy discussing personal matters with anyone colleagues! I think it's going to take time geting used to this Confused

LucySB123 · 12/07/2016 21:17

My 16wk appt is in 2wks when I'm 17wks and similarly my 20wk will not take place until I'm 21wks. Something about them being able to see more towards the end of the week.
I still fit into existing clothes and I was lucky enough with DD1 to fit them through pregnancy with the Jojo bump bandeaus- it has button holes and a button to fit non maternity jeans/trousers. I find maternity wear quite limited so I bought a few jersey wrap dresses and elasticated skirts from the summer sales and hope they'll just stretch as I go along Grin
How is everyone enjoying pregnancy? I'm told by the nurses, mw, etc to "enjoy pregnancy" but how do you consciously do that? Some on the December thread are going for babymoons... Anyone doing that? I've just come back from hols but we booked that when I was not even pregnant..not sure that counts? Hmm

LucySB123 · 12/07/2016 21:23

Ps has anyone started shopping yet? Everyone's talking about Amazon prime day (even the papers). I'm no longer a member as I don't need to buy lots unlike with DD1. I got a few sleepsuits from John Lewis but that's it. Looking for a sling, any recommendation would be great - I had one with DD1 but couldn't get the hang of it but I'm thinking I'll have to persevere this time as have a preschooler!

happylass · 12/07/2016 21:30

I'm a bit nervous abut my 16 week appt as I have to have the Quad test as they couldn't do the NT test at 12 weeks. Not sure why I'm so anxious as it won't change anything but I guess it's just one more thing to worry about.
Interesting what you say about the 20 week scan Lucy. My clinic insist they are done between 18 weeks and 20+6 but I'll actually be 21+1 for mine as I'm away on hols. The hospital were quite funny about me leaving it later than they advise. I'll actually be 18 weeks 3 days before we go but they wouldn't do it then in case I need to go back Confused. I'm not concerned anyway as its only 2 days out and, going by my IVF dates, I'll actually be 20+6 on scan day anyway.
To answer your question yes I suppose we are having a babymoon although it was booked a while ago as a giving up on IVF consolation prize!!
Due we also have a gender scan booked but not until the 23rd. I'm hoping baby is a little more cooperative than s/he was at the last scan!
Bella I also hate shopping for jeans/trousers. ASOS are my fail safe for jeans so hoping that their maternity range is as good. I fear trousers may be a different story but as I'll only need them for work from September to Christmas I may try to get away with dresses and tunics /leggings. May look in to the Jojo bump band though-thanks Lucy.

Bella1985 · 12/07/2016 23:05

My 16week appointment (not scan) I should have said earlier.

lucy I might look at the bandeau too as the jeans aren't too tight, its just when I sit down they dig in and after a while my belly aches, which can't be a good thing, so the bandeau might fix that - thanks!

Not planning on a babymoon, we're looking at ways to save money as much as possible and DH is a lecturer so term time hols are a no-go although we do have a wedding next month and we've booked (pre pregnancy) to stay in a beautiful castle so I guess that will be a mini babymoon! Smile

sueevone · 13/07/2016 07:14

We recently had a private gender scan last week, were team Blue :). I can't wait now. 20 week scan is in 2 weeks so very excited for that, but I've given in and bought some maternity clothes as I was getting very uncomfortable. Got some work trousers from H&M, very comfortable and jeans from New Look, they were all in the sale so that was some money saved. I've started shopping, but only for little things, I can't help myself now I know the gender!
Babymoon book for first week of August, were heading to Edinburgh. As we've never been and it's an easy flight from South Wales it would close enough to home but still feel like a mini holiday.
Is anyone else having a baby shower? My sister has started to plan mine, looking at mid October for a date as I'll be die in a couple of months.

Emz32 · 13/07/2016 08:50

I'm 15w2 today. 16 week app in a weeks time. Been feeling quite a bit of movement. Getting exciting now! Anyone not finding out the sex? DH would like to know but I really don't want to. I enjoyed the build up & guessing with DS & when DH told me we had a boy. (Even though I was convinced he was a boy). I think girl this time but will be happy with a full term & healthy baby. We are off to the champagne region on France in September for a week. I'm looking forward to visiting the champagne houses & vineyards at 25 weeks. 😩 Oh well, will make sure we bring some home for my 30th birthday after Christmas & post birth.

LucySB123 · 13/07/2016 09:46

We are team yellow as well!! We have been ttc no 2 for so long I'm happy with a healthy baby boy or girl.
We have booked centre parcs end of sept but that's more for DD1 rather than babymoon for us. We will be staying put from third trimester and probably the newborn period so CP is probably our last getaway.

Emz32 · 13/07/2016 13:37

I'd rather be staying put especially as DS arrived 5 weeks early but my Gran is going to be 80 & she wants the whole family to be together to celebrate. It was all booked years ago & we had assumed no 2 would be born well before. Funny how life works out sometimes. I'll make sure I know nearest hospitals etc & take everything with me. Hopefully won't need to but at least I'm prepared. I know I'll be tempted to find out at the 20 week scan but I also know I'd be disappointed to find out. If that makes sense.

Emz32 · 13/07/2016 17:36

Anyone found their tastes changing? Iv just eaten watermelon which I swear I hate normally yet this I really enjoyed. Plus with the sickness iv been off most foods. 🤔

happylass · 13/07/2016 20:43

Emz I find I'm off a lot of the foods I usually eat and fancying things I wouldn't normally touch. That combined with being too knackered to cook from scotch means my diet isn't great at the moment, but it's a case of survival! Hoping I get back to normal soon!
