Hello,

So couldn't see a January baby post (probably because no one is mad enough to POAS as early as me!)

Anyway, I thought I would start one (waves). I am 28, this will be DC#2 making my 4 year old DS a big brother which he has been so excited about becoming (we haven't told him yet though as very early days!) I am roughly around 4 weeks and we're not planning on telling anyone for ages so thought I would start a thread so I have someone to get excited with!

Please come and say hello! Xx

I've had my blood results back from the scan, 1 in 100,000 chance of down syndrome (didn't expect it to be so low as I'm 31 so happy with that!) but gah, no result for the other trisomies and after googling it looks like NHS Wales don't test for Edwards and Pataus so have to just hope that those are fine.

happylass · 27/06/2016 20:15

Alice I'm sorry to hear you're having such a stressful time - totally understandable to be anxious, I'd be exactly the same. Wise words from stealth though, and to flip it the other way there's a 98.75% chance that all is well. We are all here for you if you need a hand to hold Flowers
Bella I was thinking that I hadn't heard any mention of testing for Edwards/Patau - now I know why! They couldn't do my NT test last week as baby wouldn't keep still. I have to wait until 16 weeks now for the quad test. I really wish they'd been able to do it as its be another thing I could stop worrying about.

Bella1985 · 27/06/2016 20:27

happylass it must be annoying for you having to wait that long. Although I have a feeling that once we have good news about one thing we start worrying about the next which is probably never going to go away even when baby is 60 yrs old so I think we have to try and look at the positives of our current situation and try to appreciate them. Easier said than done, I know.
Alice hoping you're ok. X

Emz32 · 27/06/2016 20:36

Bella you are spot on there. Now iv had my results I'm worrying about the 20 week scan. In the scan last week one of the heart chambers was bigger than the other. I'm trying not to worry but can't help it. Then I'll be worrying about making it to 37 weeks. I think the worry is normal (I hope it's normal!)

sueevone · 28/06/2016 06:44

Bella Im in Wales too and was expecting the 2 results but when I had my bloods results yesterday and all it said was negative for Down's. There weren't any percentages and nothing about the other 2 tests.
Has anyone else had a similar letter?

swancourt · 28/06/2016 10:12

Sorry to hear about your worries alice. Agree that 1/80 is still low.

I had my scan on Friday - got the four days back I lost at my 6 and 9 week scans, so am due on 31st December after all! All was very well with my wriggly, wriggly baby - it took a while to get the measurements because he/she was moving so much. We also saw him swallow :)

I am 100% sure it is a boy. I don't know why.

Emz32 · 28/06/2016 12:19

Great news Swan. So nice seeing them at the scan. Feels like a long time until 20 week one now. How are you feeling?

swancourt · 28/06/2016 14:28

TERRIBLE. Worst I have felt. I threw up in the street yesterday. I feel like utter shit today. I am getting on for fourteen weeks now and it's getting worse and worse. I am shattered, which isn't helping - because I am sleeping so, so badly. I've got to do something about it. I'm giving a lecture at a uni open day tomorrow and I've got ZERO - am at home trying to write it. And it's on something I know like the back of my hand, so I don't know why I'm struggling ...

Emz32 · 28/06/2016 17:04

Oh no. That's not good. What about anti-sickness tablets. Iv been taking them on & off since 8 weeks when it got bad. Starting to feel a bit better so iv stopped them to see what happens. They might help you start to function. I'm not sleeping well either. Can't seem to get comfy. I'm sure I can feel the startings of movements but I'm only 13 weeks so not sure if I'm imagining it. Being tired does make the sickness much worse, hope you feel better soon. It's so tough x

Bella1985 · 28/06/2016 23:14

Good luck with your open day tomorrow swan hope you're feeling a bit better. How's everyone else doing? Any more scans coming up?

stealthbanana · 29/06/2016 08:45

I've got my belated 12w scan today! 530pm. Really hope everything is ok.

Bella1985 · 29/06/2016 08:50

Good luck with the scan stealth hope it all goes well for you and you enjoy seeing the little one!

Emz32 · 29/06/2016 12:11

Good luck Stealth.

happylass · 29/06/2016 17:34

Good luck stealth and hope you are feeling better swan.

stealthbanana · 29/06/2016 19:56

Thank you! Scan went well. Was amazing seeing the baby. Low lying placenta but hopefully it moves out of the way.

The only other thing that was slightly concerning was that I had an extremely low PAPP A score. I know the baby doesn't have Down's syndrome as my IVF pre genetic screening AND the panorama test told me that, but a quick search on Dr Google tells me that low PAPP A can also be linked with pre-eclampsia, early delivery and restricted growth. Did anyone else have this? What did your doctor say? The worrying never stops!

MagpieCursedTea · 29/06/2016 23:14

Stealth glad the scan went well. Plenty of time for the placenta to move up! I don't know anything about the PAPP A score. What did they say when they were doing the testing? I'd suggest staying away from Dr Google but I know that's near impossible!

I've got my dating scan tomorrow. I'm equal parts nervous and excited. I was diagnosed with GD today after an early glucose tolerance test (had GD with DS). Feeling pretty upset about it but trying to be positive.

Bella1985 · 30/06/2016 07:24

Glad the scan went well stealth, I received my PAPP-A results by post so haven't been told anything about my levels, don't know if they're high or low. Try not to worry too much, the good news is that they monitor thousands of women every year so will know what to do to keep you both healthy, and the levels may raise by the next blood test. Same for you magpie sorry to hear your upset about the GD diagnosis, I'm sure they'll take good care of both you and the baby, try to enjoy your scan today! Flowers

Emz32 · 30/06/2016 08:13

Stealth I know nothing about Papp A. Sorry. I was just handed results so iv no idea about mine or what it means.

Magpie sorry to hear it's not been great news. But I suppose it's sort of good that they have found it so early & can now keep you under close monitor. I don't know anything about GD. My previous hospital tested all women for it but my new one doesn't, only the ones at risk. I hope you get the help & support you need x

LucySB123 · 30/06/2016 09:05

stealth I had very low Papp-a with my first (something like 0.2mom). It was a marker for Downs and I had CVS to rule it out - that is the reason I did harmony this time. It is also associated with increased risk of IUGR and I was put on low dose aspirin from 13 wks until 36 weeks. I had extra scans to check that baby was growing fine and she was. She came early but at term (37 wks) and at a reasonable weight. I was downgraded to low risk by around 32 wks because baby was tracking fine size wise. With proper management there shouldn't be much to worry about.

stealthbanana · 30/06/2016 09:37

magpie sorry to hear about the GD. On the other hand at least you'll get the monitoring and support you need.

lucy thanks for that - v reassuring. Mine was 0.17MoM so extremely low indeed. Luckily no risk of chromosomal issues as we've had panorama (harmony) AND full screening prior to IVF transfer so i won't need a cvs or anything. Will definitely ask about low dose aspirin when I next see my doctor.

Dueindecember2016 · 30/06/2016 17:28

Anyone struggling from a weak bladder yet? 16 weeks and it's getting worse!!

Alicekeach · 30/06/2016 17:44

Hello all. Thanks for the good wishes upthread. I thought I'd come and update: the Harmony result came back as low risk for all three trisomies. What a massive relief!

MagpieCursedTea · 30/06/2016 18:11

Great news Alice!
I had my dating scan today, all went very well and baby was very cooperative. Lovely to see the little wriggler again.

stealthbanana · 30/06/2016 21:36

Hurrah alice and magpie! Excellent news.

Bella1985 · 03/07/2016 23:24

Any scans coming up this week? I'm 14+2 and starting to feel much better, still tired but not half as bad as a couple weeks ago.

dueindecember not encountered any weak bladder problems yet but I've bought and downloaded Squeezy - the nhs app which sets reminders and short excersizes to work the kegel muscles. I'm finding it quite handy as it reminds me to do some squeezes to strengthen the muscles. Hoping it helps in the long run.
