Hello,

So couldn't see a January baby post (probably because no one is mad enough to POAS as early as me!)

Anyway, I thought I would start one (waves). I am 28, this will be DC#2 making my 4 year old DS a big brother which he has been so excited about becoming (we haven't told him yet though as very early days!) I am roughly around 4 weeks and we're not planning on telling anyone for ages so thought I would start a thread so I have someone to get excited with!

Please come and say hello! Xx

We told my brother today.

He cried with happiness. He's single, was desperate to be an uncle and he literally cried he was so happy. Grin

Booking in appointment tomorrow.

One of my close friends is a midwife in my area. I'm thinking of requesting her as my care provider as she covers my area (and of course telling her if it feels awkward) I've got a strong personality and she gets through to me. I need someone like that.

swancourt · 31/05/2016 08:30

That's lovely about your brother spacedinosaur - and your midwife! Definitely ask. Or at least ask her if you can call her when you're worried.

My mum said a lovely thing to me yesterday. I said i was still worrying about everything, and she said, 'well you still look pregnant in your face, so I wouldn't worry if I was you'. Pregnant in my face. Just what I've always dreamed of Hmm

MagpieCursedTea · 31/05/2016 08:43

Laughing a lot at "pregnant in your face". Did you ask them what that means?

swancourt · 31/05/2016 11:10

I think she just means I look fat!

She told me I looked pregnant when I was 3 weeks last time around, and I was so annoyed to have to concede that she was right when I got a positive test a week later! Now she thinks she is amazing pregnancy guru who can just tell women in early pregnancy with one look Grin

swancourt · 31/05/2016 11:12

Hopefully I am not literally pregnant in my face, otherwise I've got problems Grin

MagpieCursedTea · 31/05/2016 14:00

Lol maybe she needs to get on the 'am I pregnant' type threads on here? She could save people loads of time! Grin

I got my scan date in the post this morning. 16th June! Eek!

swancourt · 31/05/2016 14:31

Yeah, she could make her fortune! She also thinks she can predict miscarriage by people's faces.

Did I mention she works in the NHS? Shock

(She is not in obstretics or gynaecology)

MagpieCursedTea · 31/05/2016 14:45

Haha the NHS clearly have her in the wrong department then!

samk15 · 01/06/2016 17:41

Can I ask a question about the timing of the downs/Edwards etc on the nhs? Do I have my dating scan and if there's a problem they then go on to do further tests? Am I looking at not receiving any kind of result until I'm 13 + weeks? Obviously depending on when I get my appointment for the scan. I am debating about having the Harmony test but obviously it's quite expensive. I'm really confused at to what to do for the best.

happylass · 01/06/2016 18:50

Sam I've been thinking about exactly the same thing today so will be following with interest.
Finally got to see the GP today. Lovely bloke but it was literally 'Take folic acid, don't eat runny egg/soft cheese (I'm veggie so the other stuff doesn't apply) and ask for an Ante-natal appointment at reception.' I think the receptionist then asked me more questions than the Dr! What a total waste of a dr's time!

samk15 · 01/06/2016 19:37

it's the timing Happylass, just want to know as soon as I can I guess.

swancourt · 01/06/2016 20:32

Also you can eat runny eggs and soft cheese :D - nobody ever gets salmonella (eggs go through rigorous procedures to make sure they're safe) or listeria in the UK anymore, and when they do get listeria it can be from literally anything (not just soft cheese).

Had an extra scan today. Am 9+1, due 3rd January, have grown exactly 19 days in the 19 days since my last scan, baby's heartbeat was regular and strong, and it was wriggling and waving like crazy and looked almost human (it was a blob 19 days ago). So relieved and am going to try to relax now :)

MagpieCursedTea · 01/06/2016 20:39

That's lovely swancourt! Smile

Admarks · 01/06/2016 21:01

Great news Swancourt!

sueevone · 01/06/2016 21:08

Great news swancourt!
After days of me trying to find the baby's heartbeat with the fetal Doppler we got last week my DH found it today in less than a minute! It was great to hear it nice and strong really put my mind at ease. I'm 11 weeks today but haven't had my scan date yet so it's taken the edge off the waiting for now.

happylass · 03/06/2016 07:48

Great news Swancoat.
Glad you (or your DH!) managed to find the heartbeat sueevone, must be so reassuring.
Ladies has anyone found the sickness is getting worse? Was hoping it would start to ease up by now. Whilst I'm not feeling nauseous quite so often, I've thrown up more in the last week than I have since I got my BFP. Last night was particularly bad (Feta stuffed peppers are definitely off the menu!) and I'm a little worried as I'd just take my meds so not sure if I should have taken another dose?

MagpieCursedTea · 03/06/2016 07:53

Apparently (from yesterday's googling) the sickness peaks around 9 weeks. Although I imagine it's different for everyone. Mine has been gaining intensity though. I find it's worse when I'm tired which is a lot of the time!
A bit gross, but did you notice any of the tablet in the sick? Might be worth calling 111 to ask if you need to take another one?

happylass · 03/06/2016 08:22

Thanks Magpie I've just read similar during my Googling. Mine seems to be at its worst in the morning and evening.
I didn't notice any tablet in the sick (but there was a lot of it - sorry!!). The one drug I take another dose of this morning anyway so I did that as soon as I woke. The other drug I usually take 4 tablets before bed but I think I'll take 2 now and 2 this evening so at least I'm getting some of it. This one isn't really that important anyway as its just oestrogen.

Bella1985 · 03/06/2016 20:42

As magpie said, we're all different. I seem to be very lucky, my nausea eased last week (week 9) and has completely gone this week. I was a bit worried about this so had a reassurance scan tonight and baby was there with a strong heartbeat so looking good! Hopefully it will ease for you all soon too. I had a pretty rough 3 weeks from week 6-8 with nausea all day long so this break is very welcome! Have a relaxing weekend x

swancourt · 03/06/2016 22:42

happylass yes - I had a couple of days of nausea when I was 8 weeks, but then it eased right off over the weekend and I panicked and had my scan. But I've had a cold since Tuesday and every time I cough my stomach starts trying to make me throw up. If I get up and walk about I feel so so sick. Can't bear it!

Parney · 04/06/2016 10:52

Oh Swan, so lovely threat baby was moving! I had a scan last Monday at 9+1, EDD January 1st, and baby only moved once and we weren't even looking!! Midwife described it as a little wave.. Such a relief to see the heartbeat as I've had no real MS.
Does it hurt anyone else when they sneeze? I'm in agony for a few seconds after if I don't adopt the fetal position myself while sneezing!

Parney · 04/06/2016 10:53

Lovely that*

MagpieCursedTea · 04/06/2016 10:57

I get that with sneezing/coughing! It feels like a ligament pulling in my abdomen. Quite painful!

Parney · 04/06/2016 11:56

I've never had a feeling like it, started a few days before I missed AF. Kind of made em wonder at the time. Now I know for sure what's causing it!

sueevone · 06/06/2016 07:14

I really hope I'm not the only one... But this morning I woke up absolutely terrified at the prospect of becoming a mother for the first time. Not in a negative way, in a, I'll be solely responsible for this new human being and I'd what if I'm not good enough. I'm not sure where the feeling came from but I suspect it has something to do with the fact I start my second trimester this week and according to our Doppler baby's heartbeat is nice and strong so I think now we're statistically through the rough patch the though of motherhood is starting to really sink in.
