Hello,

So couldn't see a January baby post (probably because no one is mad enough to POAS as early as me!)

Anyway, I thought I would start one (waves). I am 28, this will be DC#2 making my 4 year old DS a big brother which he has been so excited about becoming (we haven't told him yet though as very early days!) I am roughly around 4 weeks and we're not planning on telling anyone for ages so thought I would start a thread so I have someone to get excited with!

Please come and say hello! Xx

Great news Sue! Thrilled for you Smile

stealthbanana · 20/05/2016 10:31

sue fab news! What a relief.

sueevone · 20/05/2016 11:35

Thank you very much ladies!
I thought I was measuring 8+3 yesterday but she said I was actually 9+1 which was a surprise and it looks like my EDD is the 21st Dec bit of still like to stay in this group of that's ok?
But just so happy to be able to walk away with a scan photo of the little one- now that we know he or she is there we've named them Biscuit for the time being until we find out the sex Smile.

MagpieCursedTea · 20/05/2016 11:39

Aww biscuit, that's cute! 21st December is still late December Smile
So glad everything is well, did they say what caused the bleeding?

ktt512 · 20/05/2016 12:51

So happy for you Sue - cannot wait to see ours, but it's so long away at the moment, i'm trying to stay calm. As excited as I am, i'm also terrified!

Hope everyone is ok today! I'm still churning like a butter mixer, took another day off work which is pathetic of me, hoping for some let up over the weekend - have a family bbq to attend tomorrow and in this state, everyone is going to guess straight away!

sueevone · 20/05/2016 13:52

No she had a good look round and couldn't find out why I bled. She went through a few lists of what it could be, most of them I didn't know what she meant really. She said now that we've seen a heartbeat past 8 weeks and it's nice and strong the chance of miscarriage goes down to about 5% which help calm my nerves a bit so that if it does happen again I won't panic as much as I did.

MagpieCursedTea · 20/05/2016 14:29

That sounds very reassuring sue!

Ktt there's nothing pathetic about it, pregnancy can be very hard on your body and it's important to make sure you're looking after yourself.

swancourt · 20/05/2016 18:25

Went to see the GP on Wednesday. She said 'what are you telling me for?' and I said 'I thought I had to register it with somebody', and she said 'well, go back out to reception, and make an appointment with the midwife'.

So to kill the silence, I said, 'actually, while I'm here I also wanted to get my daughter checked - she's 3 in August and although she eats a lot she's really tiny'. The GP replied 'err... health visitor?'

I said 'oh I'm really sorry, I was pregnant with these two in another area, so things worked a bit differently there'. And she said 'well I don't see how it could be different - it should be the same everywhere'.

So that was pleasant!

Panicking AGAIN today due to loss of symptoms. You'd think I'd learn my lesson, especially after spending yesterday almost throwing up and absolutely shattered beyond belief.

ktt512 · 20/05/2016 19:12

Oh my god swancourt that's awful! What a bitch! I'm so sorry you had to sit through that. I'd have been livid! I probably didn't need to see my Dr, but I didn't know what the procedure was, he at least humoured me, took my blood pressure and weight and then asked me to make an appointment to see the midwife - I never understand mean Drs, I always think 'what on earth did you become a care giver for if you just want to be an arsehole?'

Try not to worry, enjoy the break from the nausea! Until this week I had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever, except a serious urge to sleep, I've now swapped that out for a constant urge to gag - I think it's normal to fluctuate!

swancourt · 20/05/2016 19:35

Well, I got my own back when aforementioned DD2 took her shoes off, jumped on the scales (and got a bit of a bollocking from the doctor), refused to put her shoes back on, and then had a huge meltdown and had to be dragged out of the doctor's office because she didn't have her shoes on Blush

All I could think was, 'I seem insane for having another one'

ktt512 · 21/05/2016 12:13

Amazing Grin

So i'm just gone 7 weeks - is anyone else having trouble distinguishing hunger quease from morning sickness quease? I think I feel sick, but i'm not sure if i'm just hungry...but to combat it I would literally have to be grazing all day, every day - is that normal?

Bella1985 · 21/05/2016 13:28

Yes pretty much the same and I'm 8+6. I'm eating something constantly, a cracker, a satsuma, an apple, bread...it's the only way to keep the nausea at bay! I've found that ice cold water will do the trick for a little while, but most of the time constant grazing is the only answer!

samk15 · 21/05/2016 18:57

Hello everybody, sorry for not posting for a while. Great news Sue!
Ktt I feel really sick by lunchtime, I'm going to be the size of a house by the end of this pregnancy because I just want to eat all of the time!!

I had a scan last Friday and all was well. I nearly passed out with the nervousness of it all and I'm a veterinary nurse so not much makes me feel ill GrinForward to yesterday when I had some sharp cramps and and bit of blood. Cue mass panic, crying and hysteria and I booked a private scan. Fortunately there was a lovely strong little hb - cue more crying from me. I do however have a possibly really stupid question.
My first scan I was measured at 6+1 but yesterday I was measured at 8 weeks. Now I understand that at this early stage it's difficult to gain an accurate date but I know when my period was and it was 7 weeks ago. I can't have gained 2 weeks in a week! I really don't understand. Hope that makes sense? Any ideas?

MagpieCursedTea · 21/05/2016 19:05

Glad both scans went well! I think like you say, it's just difficult to get accurate dates from scans at this stage. Plus they'll be using different equipment and there's different people doing it.

swancourt · 21/05/2016 19:13

samk I've read about this a bit as I had a scan a week ago when I know I was 6+6 or at a push 6+5, and I measured 6+3 (obviously this is only a tiny difference, but obviously I had to google it) - I read loads of stories of babies 'catching up' suddenly - being slow to start and then having a growth spurt, if you like - and also a lot about how when you're still working in millimetres each tiny difference in the sonographer's measurement can quickly add up to a big change. I think that's why it's more reliable later on - the baby is big enough to get an accurate measurement.

samk15 · 21/05/2016 19:26

Thank you Magpie and Swan for your replies. In my head it didn't make sense in my head (nothing new there Grin) I did wonder about the difference of equipment. I was just relieved about reaching the 8 week mark but realistically I can only be 7 + weeks.
Totally get the Google research thing, i have no self control not to look. Least I know I'm not the only one Smile

sueevone · 22/05/2016 14:14

Hi Ladies
Just wanted to pick your brains, do any of you seasoned mothers swear by products like Bio oil that claim to stop stretch marks?
I've been reading up and it's a mess of information. One camp saying its your genes that determine it so no amount of oils can stop the inevitable and others that have lathered themselves everyday and reaped the rewards.
I'm kind of leaning towards the genetics camp but would like to hear from any of you who have experience.

MagpieCursedTea · 22/05/2016 14:27

I don't really think anything can prevent stretch marks if you're going to get them. I do personally think it's good to keep your growing bump moisturised though as the skin can feel a bit uncomfortable as it stretches.

swancourt · 22/05/2016 19:16

Didn't really bother either time, but for no other reason than sheer laziness. Didn't get any stretch marks with DD1, but with DD2 they appeared right at the end all the way up the underneath of my bump. They have all completely vanished now. But I was thinking about getting some this time as it'll be kid 3 and I'm not getting any younger ...

happylass · 22/05/2016 21:14

First time pg for me but I've started on the Bio Oil already! Like you I've heard some who swear by it and others who say it doesn't make a blind bit of difference. But I figure it can't do any harm so I'm going for it just in case! After paying £8 for the small bottle in Sainsbos I then saw the large size for £7.50 in Primark grrrr!

samk15 · 24/05/2016 10:13

Oh goodness. I'm struggling today, so scared. I'm not feeling as tired as last week and my boobs aren't as sore. I'm terrified that it's going to go wrong again. Trying to do positive meditations but the fear is winning at the moment. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

MagpieCursedTea · 24/05/2016 11:29

One of my apps told me this morning that the placenta is starting to take over so I might start feeling less of the hormonal effects. Maybe that's what's happening to you samk?

samk15 · 24/05/2016 11:53

Thank you Magpie. I have read similar things. I'm trying to keep a bit level headed about all of this just not succeeding very well. I've told DP I'm not doing this again it's too stressful Confused---- next time we are getting a puppy!!

Hope all is well with everybody xx

MagpieCursedTea · 24/05/2016 12:02

I know what you mean about keeping level headed, I'm not doing a very good job of it either!
