Hello,

So couldn't see a January baby post (probably because no one is mad enough to POAS as early as me!)

Anyway, I thought I would start one (waves). I am 28, this will be DC#2 making my 4 year old DS a big brother which he has been so excited about becoming (we haven't told him yet though as very early days!) I am roughly around 4 weeks and we're not planning on telling anyone for ages so thought I would start a thread so I have someone to get excited with!

Please come and say hello! Xx

All went well with my scan . After me saying my dates can't possibly be wrong I'm actually measuring 8+3 (which gives an EDD of Xmas Day!). They did say that it's impossible to be exact at this stage though as the measurements are so tiny.

Emz32 · 18/05/2016 15:00

Great news Happy. Now we can try & enjoy it though the fog of exhaustion, boob ache & sickness. Huge relief for you. Yay! My midwife did also say today they are talking milometres when they can measure at this stage & can often be out. I'm hoping I don't get put back a whole week.

MagpieCursedTea · 18/05/2016 17:22

Great news happylass!

sueevone · 18/05/2016 17:48

Great news happylass!
I've paid to have a reassurance scan for tomorrow, it was only £45 and the thought of waiting another month for my 12 week scan is too much to bear. Am I overreacting?

Emz32 · 18/05/2016 18:05

Sueevone I personally don't think so. I'd have paid for a private one if I hadn't been referred for an nhs one. It's nerve wracking but I have been much calmer since having the reassurance scan. It depends how you feel about it.

happylass · 18/05/2016 18:36

Sueevone definitely not. I had mine at the FC as its standard practice after IVF but I'm seriously toying with the idea of paying for another one in 2 weeks as 4-5 weeks seems such a long time to worry wait. I probably seem totally bonkers but I believe you have to do whatever it takes to give you peace of mind. On a side note I rang my GP today to kick start the booking in process. The first appointment they could offer me is for 3 weeks time, by when I'll be almost 11 weeks. Won't this be too late given that they then have to then refer me to a mid-wife for booking in? I didn't take the appointment. Instead I've got to ring every day to see if there's any cancellations. But there's no guarantees especially as it's a right pita trying to ring from work.

MagpieCursedTea · 18/05/2016 20:55

That's ridiculous, can they refer you without seeing you? Or give you a telephone appointment?

happylass · 18/05/2016 21:30

I'm going to try the cancellation thing for a few days and if that doesn't work then I'll kick up a fuss (or I'll get DH to do it as he's far more forceful than me Grin).

Admarks · 18/05/2016 21:42

Happylass keep trying for a cancellation if you have to see a GP to get a midwife referral. Alternatively see if you can book direct with the community midwife, either get the number from the GP surgery or hospital. I echo magpie, 3 weeks to see a GP is absolutely ridiculous!

I saw my GP yesterday after a 2 week wait (I'm 7 weeks) - it was literally just a form filling exercise and took 5 mins. It started the process for my 12 week scan and in my opinion did not need to be done by a doctor. My midwife appointment is 16th June as this was the next availability, by this time I will be over 11 weeks. I was fuming and stressed about that so can only imagine what you must be feeling.**

Good luck!!

sueevone · 18/05/2016 21:48

I may not end up needing the scan I have just had quite a bit of fresh blood when I've gone for a wee. Completely fearing the worst again now.

MagpieCursedTea · 18/05/2016 21:57

Sueevone sorry to hear about the bleeding. Have you called your EPU?

sueevone · 19/05/2016 07:00

I hadn't no, I haven't had my first meet with my midwife as I am still waiting for her to contact me to arrange it. I was going to call my GP this morning to request a referral as I'm assuming that's my only other option- correct me if I'm wrong.
My symptoms have all but gone minus slightly sore boobs although they were hurting a lot more a few days ago so I'm really not hopeful.

MagpieCursedTea · 19/05/2016 07:57

I think some EPUs let you self refer but your GP will be able to advise you. All the best for today.

sueevone · 19/05/2016 08:29

My local EPU have advised for us to go for the scan we'd already booked as it may be a couple of days before they could get me in.
So just need to get through the next 9 hours and cross everything there's still a baby in there.

MagpieCursedTea · 19/05/2016 08:49

I'll be keeping everything crossed for you!

stealthbanana · 19/05/2016 09:22

Good luck sue!

Emz32 · 19/05/2016 09:22

I know it's a wait Sueevone but thankfully it's today rather than in a few days. Will be keeping everything crossed for you. This early pregnancy bit is so stressful especially if you have had miscarriages or troubles before.

Hope you get an appointment Happy. I saw the midwife yesterday & it was pointless. Giving me info on contacting her (she only works Monday's & Wednesday's) and what not to eat plus a couple of forms. Then finished with "see you at 16 weeks". Oh ok then.

Parney · 19/05/2016 11:30

Thinking of you today Sue. Really hoping for good news.

ktt512 · 19/05/2016 12:43

I hope everything goes well for you today Sueevone, we're thinking of you!

I'm having a morning sickness nightmare, I feel horrendous, i've got deadlines tomorrow which i'm finding it impossible to get done, the kitchen is the worst place on earth, feeling a bit miserable and anxious really. I think i'd like to crawl under my duvet and stay there until the second trimester.

happylass · 19/05/2016 16:52

Everything crossed for you Sue. I'm so sorry you're having this stress Flowers
ktt I'm sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. I had a bad few days of nausea earlier this week but I seem to have been fine yesterday and today. If I hadn't had my scan yesterday I'd be worried!
So I managed to make a GP appointment for June 1st. By that time I'll be either 9+5 (IVF dates) or 10+3 based on my scan dates. This isn't too late is it? I won't be missing any important tests?

ktt512 · 19/05/2016 17:44

The only thing i've managed to eat this afternoon is pickled onion space raiders - of all the things, that is what my body wanted?! Better stock up on the real pickled onions before the bean decides to kick it up a notch and im caught short Grin

I haven't had my midwife app yet and to be honest, I don't have much of a clue regarding tests, but I thought the first one was the nuchal translucency test? I think you have it during your dating scan and it can be done between 11 weeks and 14 weeks? If that's right, you should be fine Smile

Anyone know for sure though?

sueevone · 19/05/2016 18:02

So I've just had my scan, baby was there fighting fit! Smile. Between tears of joy from both me and DH and me trying not to empty my bladder on the bench I have never gone from being so scared to so happy so quick.
Thank you for all the kind words and thoughts ladies.
X

Parney · 19/05/2016 18:57

Ah Sue Smile!!! Absolutely thrilled for your good news, feet up now and relax!

Emz32 · 19/05/2016 19:39

Great news Sue. Such a relief when you see them all well.

You are right Ktt they do a scan between 11-14 weeks to officially date & the testing for downs. Having read up a lot & put some pennies aside, we are booked in for the harmony scan at the fetal medicine clinic in London. Partly due to it being done at 10 weeks (we have a close family party that day & I want to announce it to everyone). It's early to announce but iv been pretty rough & they would all know if anything went wrong anyway. I felt good after my scan but I'm now anxious that something will go wrong in the next 2 weeks. Think iv just been reading too much! (Must stay off google!) iv eaten terribly today. Macdonalds for lunch & now pizza for dinner... Oh dear

MagpieCursedTea · 19/05/2016 20:23

Great news sue!
