Morning Ladies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lwatkins · 10/01/2007 15:07

Afternoon ladies and bumps! How are we all on this lovely sunny afternoon? Ooooo, im feeling really good today, don't know why. Have a research report due in tommorrow for uni, 2,500 words and I haven't started yet! Should maybe start that soon me thinks.....
Anybody else almost in tears with their wardrobes? I'm pulling my hair out at the mo cause all of my clothes are getting too tight to wear - they are getting really uncomfortable. But my maternity stuff is still way to big Might just resolve to wearing my underwear everywhere, give everyone the shock of their lives

Creena · 10/01/2007 15:31

I think you're spot on there, Katy - dresses are the way to go!

Scooter - yes, that's right! She's probably stuck in the middle of moving to the other side of the world - I'd forgotten about her moving to Australia. Lol at the alligator! I've got a butterfly on my back and I'm pretty sure it's more like a bat these days.

Lwatkins - it's frustrating being at the in-between stage, isn't it? Someone here had a really good suggestion not so long ago - TopShop have a lot of tops in their normal range that's in a tunic style or empire line with a longer length. Also, there seem to be 'swing' cardies popping up now. It might be worth trying a few on - the style will cover your bump nicely and you'll still be able to wear your usual size. Trousers and skirts might be a bit more tricky - a friend of mine used a stretchy adjuster thing that fits through the button holes of your trousers or skirts to give you a few more inches of waistband. I'm sure I've seen them online (maybe at NCT, Blooming Marvellous or Mothercare). If you don't fancy that, do you think buying a skirt with an elasticated waistband would help for a bit? I did that a lot with my DS. Even as I got bigger and bigger - I ended up going into Evans to get size 18 skirts with elasicated waistbands from their range aimed at younger women. Admittedly, a lot of the stuff they had in there was a bit old fashioned and usually in a size 24 so I had to have a good old search.

Creena · 10/01/2007 15:51

I'm not sure, RK but I think that if you go to 'member profiles' you can upload pics there and then link to them from other threads. There will probably be instructions on how to do on the front page for 'member profiles'. Otherwise, we might have to wait to find out from one of those who've already managed it!

BefnalBub · 10/01/2007 15:59

Afernoon all, had a yummy spicy korean hot bowl lunch at young bin in the city (on the barbican high walk). Am sure bump will come out craving chilli!

I had a horrible clothes moment after xmas when I got back to my flat and none of my work clothes fitted (had been living in stretchy jeans and knitted dresses over xmas). Spent a week crying and nashing my teeth and then went to the sales: H&M (trousers), Mothercare (trousers), M&S(bras) and Gap(tops) and got loads of stuff which sorted the issue. was really chuffed cos I felt the size of a house but my colleagues told me 'you don't look pregnant from the front or from behind'!! Just the side view to work on the .

scootermum · 10/01/2007 16:04

I can vouch for Topshop.Have just bought about 6 more of their tunic syle t shirts.I love them! And in a size 12 so I can still pretend im relatively normal, which I am not.
And also popped into Primark and came out with a lot of smocky type t shirts all on the cheap, which arent maternity but are nice and roomy and of course some knickers that I dont really need but at a pound a throw you ant argue..three cheers for Primark thats what I say!
Off home now-couldnt have come soon enough today. All the customers living on the ground floor of my service had their tellys nicked last night-out of their flats whilst they were asleep.Honestly some people really are the scum of the earth...

Hi everyone, just gatecrashing from the June thread to invite anyone who's interested to join the all-new, cross-thread ante-natal fitness club. Quick intro:

Some of us on the June thread wanted to get together and give each other some support and motivation for a bit of exercise in pregnancy, and, not wanting to disturb others on our thread who just wanted to chill out in peace, thanks, thought it'd be a good idea to set up a new thread for everyone on the ante-natal threads, all welcome.

We're not talking marathon training or anything here, but it would be great to have a place where we could share our experiences of exercise in all stages of pregnancy, swap tips and links, and gently motivate each other when we might be flagging a bit. I for one am in serious need of it, having spent xmas doing nothing more strenuous than chewing on quality streets.

So, who's up for it? Step right this way!

largeginandtonic · 10/01/2007 16:17

To upload a photo go to Mumsnet Discussions: Member profiles and create a new conversation.
Type a heading and a little text.
Click on create this conversation then when you go into the conversation it gives you an option to upload a piccy. It can not be too big so watch your size. Not sure of the actual size limit. Had a quick peek at your blog they all look adorable.
I did try to upload more than one but couldn't manage that so if anyone can advise how to do that it would be helpful. That is why I have three conversations going at once.

This was what Charleymouse posted for me on the multiples thread and even i managed to do it.....good luck!

cinnamontam · 10/01/2007 16:24

Tops I'm not having issues with it's definitely bottoms that I'm struggling with.

I have an Italian ass thanks to my Nonna so I wasn't ever starting with something peach like and dainty. So how to go from not-dainty to just big ass, big belly and big hips is driving me nuts!

My only pair of jeans are starting to give me the kidney bean look and won't last more than a few weeks!

Lwatkins · 10/01/2007 16:26

Went to primark the other day and got 5 nice tops in stretchy material for £20! Just got them in size 12-14 as am usually 8/10, they fit really nicely and still had plently of room. Its trousers that bother me the most, cause im only 5'2, and im a student so cant affored to pay a fortune for jeans etc. And it may sound cheap but i dont wanna have to pay £35+ for a pair of jeans that im gonna be in for all of 4 months! Wrap dresses i've found are a dream come true, make you feel pretty and feminine, and you can adjust the sixe however you want.

Creena · 10/01/2007 16:27

Really, Scooter? That's awful - those poor people. I don't know how I'd feel thinking that someone had been in my home stealing stuff as I slept.

There's a Primark just opened by me now - I think I might have a look around in there tomorrow. Has anyone found that they've had to up their knicker size if buying non-maternity knickers? Or is it best to just go for shorts style knickers, so that the elastic doesn't digin around the leg holes?

Lwatkins · 10/01/2007 16:29

*size not sixe!

Lwatkins · 10/01/2007 16:32

Female boxer shorts are fab creena - stick to them. They're comfy, don't give you a wedgy and i've found cover up my unshaved mary really well! Well, you know lacy knickers can sometimes reveal more than the eyes are supposed to see, god im shutting up now!!!

Creena · 10/01/2007 16:36

Lwatkins - I know that is sounds all frumpy and fuddy-duddy but mayeb you could try looking for trousers or skirts with an elasticated waistband? You could get some plain, basic ones that you could then jazz up a bit with a really nice top. I'm sure you would be able to get something with an elasticated waist fairly cheap too. Also, have you tried ebay for maternity clothes? I've read posts on here from mumsnetters saying that they'll be putting their maternity stuff on ebay after the baby is born - might be worth a look. Also, a few places might still have sales on and as you're usually a size 8/10, you should have more luck finding stuff. I've just had a quick look at the Next online sale and there are still 18 items available in size 8. Copy and paste this link to see;

search.next.co.uk/search?p=Q&ts=sale&w=*&cnt=20&isort=revtitle&sale=on&images=on&div=womenswear&group=maternity&size=08&af=cat_womenswear+sub_maternity+si_08

As for size 10, (with 7 items including jeans for a tenner) copy and paste this link;

search.next.co.uk/search?p=Q&ts=sale&w=*&cnt=20&isort=revtitle&sale=on&images=on&div=womenswear&group=maternity&size=10&af=cat_womenswear+sub_maternity+si_10

anneme · 10/01/2007 16:40

Lilkel - don't get too stressed about potty training - if it doesn't work then so be it (although I see your point about two of them in nappies - on the positive side it is all contained then!!!)
Was going to write lots of other things but have forgotten - better go and eat the eclair that I have downstairs YUM

Creena · 10/01/2007 16:41

God, I made a heinous mess of those links! I'll try another approach;

size 10 items

size 8 items

Also, agree with you on hairy mary disguising properties of the shorts tyle pant - the forest growing down the sides of my legs will be safely hidden, which will be great as my fanjo is starting to look like a particularly bushy Poirot's moustache!

LupinsBigLump · 10/01/2007 16:43

Lwatkins Littlewoods have reduced thier maternity stuff again - think they had jeans for 7 or 9 quid, also tops reduced quite a bit

On the normal knickers thing, i just went from 8/10 to 12/14, must say they arent as comfy as my maternity ones but hey ho at primark prices i can go and get 16/18 when these are too uncomfortable

Had lovely swim today with dd, it felt great to get the weight off my back, spoke to guy that runs aquanatal classes and they sound great - starting next week

LupinsBigLump · 10/01/2007 16:46

SOH how much is your scan costing (original price)

I have found somewhere just a short bus trip from me but its £115,cant justify that at the mo - could buy lots of cute baby clothes, especially as i will get another chance to find out in a month - really feel like its going to drag tho,

Creena · 10/01/2007 16:51

That's what I was thinking, Lupins - I think I'll just stock up on pants from Primark in the next size up or so. At their prices, you can't lose really.

Pebblemum · 10/01/2007 16:54

Hairy fanjos are definately one of the worst things about being pregnant, not that i can actually see mine so unless i catch a glimpse of myself naked in the bathroom mirror i can pretend all is as it should be. Dh has started mentioning it now though, threatening to plait it when im asleep (he is exacggerating its not really that bad )so I have told him that he can help me sort it out on Saturday, that should be good when he goes back to work on Monday and gets asked how he spent his weekend

I picked Ds2 up from nursery and was told he had been really good, there had been no tears or tantrums and he had only asked for me about 10mins before, other than that he hadnt noticed i wasnt there. Im not silly though i know that just because he was ok today doesnt mean he will be like that all the time so im taking it one day at a time but so far so good. He spent all the time with his friend who lives in our street so i guess that helped, he copied what she was doing and so there wasnt a problem with him sitting still (not like at home when he even fidgets in his sleep )

I will post a pic of my bump as soon as i can find the leads to my camera, dh has put them somewhere 'safe'. Why do men touch things, ive been looking for them since yesterday but to no avail and when i asked him he cant remember where they are either. MEN!!

Lwatkins · 10/01/2007 16:57

I am a technical genious! Have managed to upload my bump pic and it's on member profiles, i think i'll have to celebrate with another choclate chip and hazlenut cookie - or 5!

Creena · 10/01/2007 17:11

Your bump looks wonderful, Lwatkins. I'm going to try and sort a piccie of my bump out but I think I might ruin the succession of lovely May 07 bumps that have been shown so far with my enormous kidney bean shaped gut!

Lwatkins · 10/01/2007 17:15

Oh, thanks creena! What a nice thing to say, im sure yours is lovely too. Everyone thinks negative things about their own bumps, might see if i can do my scan pic and put that up too. Just showing of now cause i can put pics on!!!!

jessinwa · 10/01/2007 17:36

hi ladies! i haven't had any time on the computer for two weeks now due to holiday travels. i thought i would be able to pop on here and there but it turns out that munch had other plans for me. he kept me busy the entire time. my mil's house has lots of stairs and glass and cabinets that are easy to open. it was a show.
i really hate spending many days in a row away from my home. people simply don't understand the safety issues involved in having a fifteen month old around. my mil is the worst. she always plays with very inappropriate things with munch. it drives me crazy. then she cries when we leave the house even if it is just for a meal with friends. she's crazy. and a pita. i am so glad to be home.
so now i am totally behind on the thread(s) and am finding it an absolutely impossible task to get caught up. anyone care to post a synopsis? so far i have just skimmed a bit and it seems that most of you are doing well and enjoying your scans.
my little man is calling for me so i must go see what he is up to. i'll be back soon... thanks for thinking of me.

Pinktrappedwindjenny · 10/01/2007 17:58

Twelveyeargap - sorry - didn't realise it was the Chinese predictor thing. I stand corrected.

Was it you that told me I was a freudian dream? Are you picking on me or what? I'm going to the teacher.
