Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
conkertree · 02/03/2007 13:58

ooh we are due on the same day washing. its so exciting seeing a real bump - am a bit like you kiteflying, and really starting to enjoy it. i know there is still a long way to go, but its starting to feel more real now and a bit easier to imagine us actually having a baby soon. although that also means that every now and again i have a little panic about things changing so much.

conkertree · 02/03/2007 13:59

tt - i am hen partying in the lake district. havent seen some of them for a while so will be good to catch up - and will have an excuse to go to bed a bit earlier if things get very drunken later on - not so much fun if you are not drinking yourself.

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 13:59

Thanks Mrsshuvel, bet you are feeling sleepy now after such an early awakening!

Ironically DS slept better last night than he has done for weeks so DH and I awoke feeling all refreshed this morning (for the first time in ummmmmmmmm.....about 2 years at a guess!

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 14:01

Hi TT, thanks for epsom tip - might try it later!

I've just stuffed another fairy cake in to my face so don't feel too bad about food choices

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 14:08

God I am about 3/4 messages behind today! Hi conkertree, what a coincidence on the EDD hey? your 20 week scan must be soon too then?

tokentotty · 02/03/2007 14:16

Ooh Conkertree, am rather jealous of your hen weekend. Have just had to tell a dear friend from school that I can't make her hen weekend - Bank holiday in August !!!! Somehow even if Peanut comes early I can't quite see me upping and leaving DH to it while I go swaning off to Edinburgh eh ? Will be lucky to make their wedding on 15th Sept knowing my luck

Have loads of days/nights out ahead that are normally big heavy affairs. Cheltenham Gold cup for example, normally we meet in a pub about 8am to kick off with a drink and breakfast, then I'll probably end up having a bottle of wine on the train down there, on it all day and home about 3am ! Gonna be the dull chick from dullsville this year methinks...

Anyone been to a wedding 7.5months pregnant? Need some advice on what to look out for to wear really

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 14:24

I am jealous of all of you ...I have NO social life whatsoever (not including the various mother and toddler groups we go to)

My friends taunt me with tales of nights out boozing etc...

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 14:26

Oh TT, there is a maternity clothes website for special occasions..usefully can't remember what it is called but will def come up on google if you do a maternity wear search.

I have no experience of posh outings at that stage of pregnancy - my feet were so swollen the only shoes I could wear were some cheap sandals!

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 14:30

pushmaternity.com is one of them

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 14:30

scrap that idea...have you seen the prices????

tokentotty · 02/03/2007 14:32

Will quickly have a look... Can't spend fortunes on something that I'll seriously only wear once ! Have a feeling that I'll be wearing nothing but birkenstocks by the time I'm that far gone....!

tokentotty · 02/03/2007 14:35

YIKES !!!

Ahem.....right...erm...well. They're seriously pricey aren't they? (And a lot of it really not even that nice).

peanuthead · 02/03/2007 14:36

Blimey - don't check in for a couple of days and I've missed loads!! Not least all the cackling about names.... Boys names are a nightmare - i can't think of a single one I like. Took myself out for a walk round the graveyard today as it's so nice and I need to slowly get active again (well you take nature where you can in London!) and found myself looking at all the names there - not much help though..

Toilet rug is the best - might have to steal that one as I seem to have spent a lot of time kneelign on mine...

My bump is still too squashy to be a bump really - for someone who still has ms it's amazing how much I've managed to put on.

Washingqueen - you probably need those fairy cakes if ds is ill... you've made me start thinking about them now, haven't had one in years - bad sign, I'll be nipping down to Sainsburys for some in a minute.

Think I might be enjoying being pg occasionally - in the non -ms bits anyway.. DH had a strop about ms last night -I spent all eve waiting to puke then finally did as we went to bed and he started moaning about when is it going to go so we can start going out again! I went mad - he can go out anytime he wants!

Tt - I've got a wedding same time as you - 33 weeks and it's in Italy and I so want to go. Don't think I'll get anything to wear till just before - the bit I'm dreading is sitting round the hotel pool with all the other guests in the days before... being like a hippo..

Happy belated b day hersetta!

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 14:36

Honestly I wouldn't have suggested that if I had noticed prices before - that is outrageous!!!

Maybe it is worth starting a thread asking for opinions?

peanuthead · 02/03/2007 14:38

ooh i missed all those messages about fancy clothes. I'm reckoning on flipflops myself...

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 14:38

Hi peanut, Sainsburys????? I'll have you know I lovingly baked and iced my own yesterday afternoon (so desp was I for something sweet)

tokentotty · 02/03/2007 14:43

Oooh Washing, have to confess you've made me start fantasising about gorgous iced fairy cakes now... Don't worry about that site, I saw your second mail about the prices before I looked at it too so was ready for it. Think Peanut's right about waiting 'til nearer the time, just didn't want to miss out if there was something good available that had been noticed. Actually, Do you think I'd still be wearing it for the 2nd wedding in September. I might have only just had the baby by then so there's no way I'd fit in anything normal is there.

Sorry Peanut, am deffo sniggering about you naming your child after the place you spend most time now.....(although loud TCH! to your dh for being cheeky)

kiteflying · 02/03/2007 14:48

MrsShuvel - no I still have no hospital and no midwife. it is rather shocking isn't it. I believe my GP has washed her hands of the whole affair. Too busy, too important. She advised I get in touch with the hospital myself to further my appeal. I could have done this more effectively at the beginning of Feb if I had known she was going to do nothing at all for a month!

TT, Arabella O (I think?) have lovely frocks for weddings. Look at definitelybaby.co.uk site for some of them. Isabella Oliver have nice shapes but no colour or florals so not v good for a wedding. You could have a look at ebay if you are feeling pinched. You would not believe the number of women selling lovely and expensive frocks that they wore once to a wedding when pregnant (unless they are all lying their pants off!)

Other good thing about ebay is you can get sale price things from maternity wear shops in out of London places so they are designer and brand new.

Sorry, did not mean to sound quite so evangelical. I have a couple of nice Noppies pieces from a little boutique somewhere in Wiltshire!

kiteflying · 02/03/2007 14:54

Peanuthead I am glad your bump is still squashy as well. I was feeling kind of left out!

kiteflying · 02/03/2007 14:56

www.beautifulbump.co.uk/index.php?cPath=98&osCsid=1443252b51f1ab2eb2b43a996e0a84a2

Here are some dresses that look quite pretty!

tokentotty · 02/03/2007 15:00

Kite that's outrageous about the hospital m/w situation ! Perhaps you should consider asking for any suggestions advice on your own thread to see if anyone has experience and recommendations on where to go from here?

Think ebay probably isn't a bad idea to be honest. If I start looking sometime soon then I guess at least I have plenty of time to (hopefully) get it right.

conkertree · 02/03/2007 15:06

am becoming a big fan of ebay kiteflying - got 4 pairs of mat trousers for £4.50 - plus about another 4.50 postage, but still a good bargain - and was a bit worried they'd all be horrible, but 3 out of the 4 are really great.

i have been eyeing up dresses on there too - have a wedding on 7th april, so really dont know yet whether i will need a proper mat dress or just find a bigger sized one.

peanuthead · 02/03/2007 15:09

washing queen - I'm so impressed! although i did bake some choc cup cakes about a month ago (from a packet mix I'm ashamed to say) as I was craving the smell of baking -only managed to eat 1!

kiteflying - i cannot believe they still haven't sorted you out - there is a real lack of mw's in london though which is why i've got a psychiatric one - she's been trying to fob me off to a local one but no joy. I think you should get up in arms - when you've finished looking at maternity wedding dresses online that is!! Going to have a peek myself now.

kiteflying · 02/03/2007 15:21

Washing, I rediscovered my love of making pies a couple of weeks back when my little bean caused me to suddenly crave desserts (it was thankfully shortlived)- nothing like the smell of apple and plum crumble after two years of being a salad eater! My boyfriend thought all his Christmases had come at once, but it lasted only a week. So, go for those fairy cakes I say.

Hope your little one recovers soon. I have a great fear of chicken pox and am wondering how on earth to fit in a vaccination between BF my little bean once s/he is born, and trying for the next one before running out of biological clock. I don't want to spend another pregnancy avoiding school age children. it does make one seem unmaternal.

Conker, I am glad I am not the only one that has been delving into ebay. I had always thought it risky for clothes because of the non-return problem with no retailer involved, but I have done well so far, and I did fear that I might spend too much money on Isabella Oliver if I did not get kitted out quickly by other means. Thankfully I have been a bit put off by all the black jersey on offer at IO.

Mrsshuvel · 02/03/2007 15:35

Kiteflying - thats disgusting, i can't believe you still haven't got anywhere. Ring the hospital direct and if you still don't get anywhere go to the papers. I'm sure they'll be interested, with all the baby stories at the moment. Or were there always baby stories and i just never paid attention before. We'll start a campaign! Ooh i'm getting all riled up now!

On a calmer note: Weddings, let me know if anyone finds anything nice. I have one in June in France and another on 26th August ('m due on the 14th!) DP has agreed to be Best Man at this one.

Really fancy a home made fairy cake now mmmmm.
