OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tokentotty · 28/02/2007 17:20

Oooh so Mrsshuvel, you're a 'watch this space' too then huh....?? Am looking forward to your name possibilities as the weeks go on !

washingqueen · 28/02/2007 19:01

pmsl at Kermit (prob a good indicator for me to take those pelvic floors more seriously).

Oooo MrsShuvel are you a rock chick?

loler · 28/02/2007 22:21

my ds is Patrick - dd couldn't say it so he was called Bucket for first few months (got funny looks in Asda!). It is now shortened to Bucks - lots of people don't know what his real name is. I sure he thinks his name is 'get down' as that is all I say to him recently.

Loving Errol.

I'm liking Ewan at the moment - can't agree at all on girls names. We have considered Jonee (pronounced joni as in mitchell) - it's a Manx name, where dh is from - keep wondering about it though.

Have also got really bad mush brain - find it very difficult to remember words. E.g. do you want some of that stuff you put in the toaster - that would be toast!

tokentotty · 01/03/2007 11:57

I think Bucks is a lovely organic nickname! A friend's daughter is known as Boo because when she was tiny she absolutely used to wreck herself laughing if you said it to her. She's 10 this March and still called it.

I rather like the idea of Jonee as well, especially because it's so specific to where your DH is from. Are there any other names that only seem to be used there ?

Hope all are feeling well today by the way

kiteflying · 01/03/2007 15:48

Hello all and happy birthday (belated) to Hersetta. Hope everyone is well - I am guessing everyone is feeling less jittery- kittery as names are the main topic of amusement! I love all of Pink's names - Madeline was my grandmother but it may horrify you that the rest of your short list matches (some of) mine (mine is longer). We have stopped calling our bean "little bean" and started calling him/her "our little one" in honour of the fact that all five fingers, toes and the rest have been successfully grown by her in the last few weeks.

I am having huge trouble with my ankles swelling painfully during the day at my desk, and I am waking up "puffy-faced" as if I have spent the previous night drinking. Is anyone else already suffering from fluid retention? I am drinking loads so I am bit worried that it is not a great symptom to be having so early.

Otherwise quite well although not free of ms, and back to having twinges in the abdomen as it balloons!!

conkertree · 01/03/2007 17:13

no fluid rentention here i dont think but lots of growing pains, and my little bump had obviously moved upwards in the last few days. dh noticed a definite change when he was back after a night away on tues. and it is feeling harder all over now rather than just in the middle.

had my annual appraisal this week for work. all about objectives etc for the next year. boss wrote down "have a baby" as my main objective as it seemed a bit silly to put lots down when i will be on mat leave for half of it.

how is everyone else today? very quiet today compared to yesterday

pinkranger · 01/03/2007 17:16

hi eveyone ,
Glad to here someone else is having growing pains, i was strting to worry, conker , how would describe yours??

Mrsshuvel · 01/03/2007 17:28

Definitely getting the growing pains, still have MS although not been too bad this week. Can sympathise with the puffy ankles Kiteflying. My legs feel like i've been on an aeroplane for 9 hours. Have to get up from my desk and have a little walk around the office for a few minutes every few hours and drinking loads of water too. Gonna mention it to my midwife when i next see him.

Not a rock chick Washing more partial to a bit of Milli Vanilli every now and then

washingqueen · 01/03/2007 21:47

Conkertree - I like the sound of that appraisal, an objective even I can achieve.

I definitely felt LO move when I was in the bath earlier and could even swear I saw a judder. I have been feeling things before now....but couldn't be sure if it was wind

On the downside DS has chicken pox; spots are appearing all over the place - poor little boy

tokentotty · 01/03/2007 22:09

Hey all, hope everyone had a good day. That's lovely that you think your lo is moving Washing, am so . People at work keep on asking me if I've felt anything yet and I can't wait to. Still, as Hersetta said once, we'll soon be moaning that they don't stop wriggling and keeping us awake !!

Oh, and your poor DS Washing. I woke up on my birthday a couple of years ago with chicken pox so still have VERY vivid memories of it.....

washingqueen · 01/03/2007 22:17

Hi TT, although obviously it is lovely feeling LO move at last, I just can't shake the memory of DS' little feet wedged under my ribs last time around...Owwwwwwwwwww!

Despite being pox-ridden he has been remarkably cheerful - he has bad eczema sometimes anyway so maybe he can tolerate the itching a bit better because of it (but he is male so am not ruling out complete meltdown tomorrow)

tokentotty · 01/03/2007 22:26

Oooh lovely memory to have come floating back huh ?? This is where I think it's good to hear from non-first timers as it certainly helps me prepare more for what 'delights' might be coming my way !! Was saying to a friend today how there's so much about being pregnant that no-one bloody tells you!

Hahahahah yes, the old bird flu/bloke flu scenario. Always keep reminding DH to stay away from any bright lights when he's having one of his near death illnesses.

washingqueen · 01/03/2007 22:33

lol.

Y'know people don't tell you about all the pregnancy 'joys' for a reason...

tokentotty · 01/03/2007 22:37

Hmmmmmmmmmm.....I noticed this when my head was banging so much the other week that I was in tears by the time I got home from work. Was still killing me when I woke up the next day and I spoke to a girlfriend who quite calmly said "ooh yes, those hormonal headaches really can be complete buggers". That, the nosebleeds, etc etc. It's a glamorous old business isn't it !!

washingqueen · 01/03/2007 22:48

You do forget until people mention things though...because the post birth brain blurs it out prob.

I even found myself lying to an old friend about how wonderful it was last time when in reality I was puffed up like a balloon, my shoes didn't fit on my feet I was so hobbit-like, and I desp needed some sleep (was good preparation)...I can't explain why I did this

BTW I do actually really enjoy being pregnant despite these 'small niggles'

washingqueen · 01/03/2007 22:48

OMG now you've reminded me about the nosebleeds!

loler · 01/03/2007 22:50

I can't remember if I like being pg!

That memory thing...........

washingqueen · 01/03/2007 22:58

You have to say you love it anyway...or you will be judged (obv not by me btw)

conkertree · 02/03/2007 12:42

morning everyone - have spent the morning trying to get take that tickets for glasgow but was sadly unsuccessful - oh well. sure it will be full of 10 year olds who werent even around the first time round - sorry i'm bitter today.

i am getting pains along the lower bit of the bump - at the front - not totally unlike period pains. definately a bump now rather than just looking fat which is very nice as i am going on a hen weekend to the lake district this weekend with a group of women who are pretty much all thin as rakes so was hoping for a bump looking bump by now.

thought i felt a few flutters a week or so ago, and pretty sure i am feeling stronger movements now -but still fairly quick so i cant absolutely guarantee it was a kick.
oh well - suppose i should really do some work today

Mrsshuvel · 02/03/2007 13:06

I know exactly how you feel Conkertree. Tried to get tickets for London. Was almost there and Ticket Master crashed. After that couldn't get any on the net unless i wanted to pay stupid money and the phone lines were constantly engaged. Gonna wait and see if they do any dates in Dublin and try to get over for that.

Was woken up at about 4 this morning with lots of fluttering in my belly, which was lovely, couldn't go back to sleep after that so a bit tired now. Bump is very prominent today as people at work have commented on it so feeling very pleased with myself.

How's DS and his Pox today Washing?

kiteflying · 02/03/2007 13:20

Congrats conker - obviously on the moving grooving baby, and not on your failure to get the tickets you want. Book something else you like to take away the mizz.

My bump is still squidgey (but I am having a late August baby and so I guess I am a late bloomer). I look fat. I want my bump!!

Mrsshuvel, I have been better at getting up from my desk and moving around today and it seems to be helping. I think part of the problem has been hiding my bump behind my desk to avoid "coming out" quite yet. I am still very conscious that it has only been a week and a half since I last had a spotting scare. These growing pains are a bit close for comfort to the usual warning signs for me.

I did have an epiphany on the train this morning that I finally am enjoying being pregnant. I realy want to make the most of this pregnancy so an uplift in mood was most welcome!

My appraisal is coming up, conker, and I have been scratching my head over the forward-looking part of the form. I hope my boss is as pragmatic as yours but they will probably suggest I make the most of the time I have between now and July, blah blah blah.

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 13:35

Hi all, sick DS is now in bed for a nap (washing sits down with cuppa and fairy cake) his spots look a bit worse today but he still is in good spirits and not much scratching so fingers crossed the weekend might not be so bad after all.

My bump is really looking bump-like at last, and even DH commented on it last night (so it must be noticable)

washingqueen · 02/03/2007 13:37

Bad news about the tickets by the way - did ANYONE manage to get any??

Kite - I reckon you'll have a beautiful bump in a couple of weeks, I think mine is only so pronounced as due date 1/8!

Mrsshuvel · 02/03/2007 13:55

Kite, how's it going with your hospital? Have you been seen by a midwife yet?

Washing, glad to hear DS not to bad.

tokentotty · 02/03/2007 13:57

Hey all,

Glad your DS isn't feeling too bad Washing. My DH made me bath in epsom salts to help get rid of the spots so maybe something else worth trying ?

I was talking to a lady in the lift at work today who told me that I had a fair old bump for 4 months !! I definitely look pregnant and not fat but I really do think I need to re-evaluate some of my food choices of late....

What's everyone up to at the weekend ?
