We're going to center parcs when she's five weeks old..... With a three and a five year old too. Mad?!! Probably!

bikingintherain · 04/04/2016 15:15

Dutch advice is not a drop should pass your lips. Honestly the lectures I've had on it, would make you think it was heroine! I've just not told them if I've indulged!

When I was pg with DS it as a few units in a week was no problem, but at Christmas I read an article which said that guidance had changed to advising best not to drink at all, but maybe if you did only a unit or two.

I drank small amounts in both previous pregnancies but didn't feel I had to hide it. Here I very much feel I do, so haven't.

cautiousoptimist1 · 04/04/2016 15:19

Glad everything is ok Mollie.

How lovely of your neighbour too, I got a bit emotional about a surprise crocheted blanket made by my auntie (so pleased with it that she's made me another 3!). My DH thought I was being hormonal I think but I'm so chuffed that someone has taken the time to do that for us - some of my relatives hate handmade stuff but I find it rely nice and can't wait to take the blanket in my hospital bag (along with a cardigan and hat knitted by my Nan).

I'm thinking of Cornwall as I've never been. I have asked some friends for their advice and generally their babies travelled well at that age but their advice was to not really plan anything that needs to be stuck to and to go on our own as they went with people completely unprepared for a week with a baby.

AmIseeingRight · 04/04/2016 15:21

Oh Mollie glad everything is fine and how sweet of your neighbour, glad it made up for a stressful day.

I just had my 32 week scan and placenta has moved, so that such a relief Smile and my little man in measuring spot on, he about 4.5lbs so they think he's going to be about 8.5lb or 4 kg Shock so I have to prepare myself for a big boy.

Eastend2015 · 04/04/2016 15:21

I'm not a big drinker so really wasn't expecting no alcohol to be so hard- I didn't have a drop before my 20 week scan and stick pretty religiously to NHS guidance on everything but since we had the all clear I've been a bit more relaxed- including the odd oyster from our excellent local fishmonger. I know everyone is different though!

Re holidays- lakes at 3 months and Madeira with family at 4 months. With both trips though we can take it as easy as we need to.

Eastend2015 · 04/04/2016 15:28

P.s Mollie I missed you message about being in for monitoring- glad to hear all is well and I think it's lovely you got emotional over your neighbour's knitting- having done lots for people in the past I think it's really lovely when people appreciate it. Also I suggest you take a pic of your little one wearing it and give it to her- I always appreciate the gesture too!

chillipopcorn1 · 04/04/2016 16:14

Nehagarg so sorry to hear about the OC. Hope you're doing OK.
Jelly fingers crossed that your spots get sorted out! So frustrating to not know...
Samba what a lovely thing to say! As a FTM you can feel so anxious so for someone to say how things change but in such a positive way is great!
Hello all others :))
I've now officially done at work! Had one week of Easter holidays and won't be going back after the second week - gah! Hasn't really sunk in yet. My mum and dad have been out to visit (we are in SEAsia) which has been so so nice as they got to 'meet' the babies and mum has loved feeling them kick and passing on advice.
As for holidays, as soon as these two are born we are sending off for passports and then when they are about 6 weeks we will be taking them on a 14hour flight home to the UK! Madness!!

bikingintherain · 04/04/2016 16:52

Chilli no work sounds amazing! My work has gone crazy recently and I'm struggling to see it slowing down at all before I stop for maternity. It doesn't help that I can be a control freak and don't want the new stuff I've been helping implement get screwed up by anyone else!

I'm hoping to make it back to the UK for a wedding and short break 6 weeks after the due date, but it really depends on how quickly we can a passport of the baby. Anyone have experience of applying for passports from overseas?

MollieRos · 04/04/2016 16:53

cautious and eastend I love home made things, I sew some gifts for people occasionally so know how much time and thought goes into things. I'll be taking him round to meet the neighbour in the cardy once he's here I reckon Smile

Eastend2015 · 04/04/2016 17:14

Almost done on my third cardie for our little one (a bit bigger than the two previous ones)- trying to stay gender neutral so this one is lime green with cute little frog buttons. Just heard one of my best mates has had the all clear from her anomaly scan and is expecting a little girl so may go with something a bit more feminine for her, I'm almost as excited for her as I am for us Grin

cautiousoptimist1 · 04/04/2016 17:18

biking I had to renew my own passport from Switzerland 6 years ago. All applications went through Paris then do not sure if that's still the same, my renewal took about 10 days.

LouLou030783 · 04/04/2016 17:39

Place marking totally lost track with this thread, can't believe we are all on last stretch its flew in

jellybelly85 · 04/04/2016 18:12

Re: UK alcohol guidelines - yup they've changed but the evidence hasn't. Basically as there is no evidence to show that drinking small amounts of alcohol in pregnancy is safe (I.e. 1-2 units per week, as per previous guidelines), because it's not ethical to do studies on pregnancy women, the guidance is err'ing on the side of absolute caution. Doesn't mean its unsafe - just we don't have evidence to say either way. What evidence does show is heavy drinking in early pregnancy can lead to miscarriage and health issues (such as fetal alcohol syndrome). I work in public health and personally think the new guidance is super strict and not supported by current evidence - but it does provide a simple message (which is probably why they went for it). Personally, I think the odd drink here and there in 2nd or 3rd trimester is fine and unlikely to be harmful. Pregnant women are judged so much by all behaviour/lifestyle choices - just do what you feel is best. With small amounts of alcohol, as well as there being no evidence of safety - there is no evidence of harm either.

laughingGnomette · 04/04/2016 18:36

biking - do they sell any non-alcoholic beers in Holland? I've tried a few here in the UK and a couple when I was in Austria and they've ranged from passable to revolting! The better ones have just about done the job when I've craved a cold beer. I can't say the same for non-alcoholic wine though - yuck!

ILovePies · 04/04/2016 18:40

Mollie so glad to hear everything is okay Thanks
Is anyone else naturally big busted & struggling with the extra booby weight?
My back is in agony! I'm usually an E cup & I am sure they've grown a bit!

laughingGnomette · 04/04/2016 18:47

chilli - lovely to hear that the twins are doing well, how are you feeling?

I couldn't face going into work today. DS was up half the night and I've had a dodgy tummy which has sapped away all of my energy. A duvet day was very welcome and I've managed to catch up on some sleep thankfully but still feeling grotty. I've been watching 'A baby changes everything' on TLC on catchup, there is a couple on there with premie quadruplets and they've just worked out that they've got to spend around $600 a month just to keep them clothed, fed and changed! They are getting through 40 nappies A DAY! Shock

LouLou030783 · 04/04/2016 19:18

Ilovepies I was a 36dd before and I'm now an f cup it's killing me 😂😂😂

dollydaydream84 · 04/04/2016 21:17

Anyone else experienced pain under a rib? Can feel a little lump there which when I press sometimes
It feels a bit sore and other times makes me want to jump off my chair. First noticed it last week when baba was poking around, nearly jumped off the couch. Away at the moment, trying not to google "lump on stomach" as all avenues lead to death usually.Hmm It's more than just uncomfortable pressure it's a "yeoooowch" pain when pressed. Going to the doctors or ringing the midwife when I get back but the level of pain varies so I don't know what the heck it is! Anyone had anything similar?

mrsmugoo · 04/04/2016 21:28

Could it be your baby's head?!

ILovePies · 04/04/2016 21:37

Oh my LouLou Sad it's a bloody nightmare isn't it!
dolly or could it be bubbas foot? Definitely call midwife to put your mind at ease xx

iamdivergent · 04/04/2016 21:52

This little ones bum is frequently under or pushing up my ribs

LouLou030783 · 04/04/2016 22:04

Yeah the boobs are a nightmare I just hope they deflated after 😂😂😂 x oh no dolly hopefully it's just wee ones foot irritating you

Eastend2015 · 04/04/2016 22:11

32e to 34ff possibly g now?! I think my maternity bra just keeps stretching 😳 Luckily DH thinks its sexy but I just feel like a milking cow (already)!

MollieRos · 05/04/2016 07:40

dolly not quite in the same place but I have a pain in the middle of my bump towards the top. It's generally quite painful, and becomes incredibly painful when there's any pressure on that spot It's a very sharp, dragging pain, and shoots pain down through the rest of my bump when I touch it. I can't feel any baby under there (because it's too painful to press to find out!) but when I was in the hospital yesterday the consultant thought it was probably the baby lying awkwardly and pressing on something. I was advised to take paracetamol and hope the baby shifts a bit! Perhaps ring your midwife just so they can check.

I'm usually quite flat chested and have gone up to a 34d which is cause for celebration here. I'll miss my new cleavage when it's gone Grin But I feel for people struggling with new huge boobs!

bikingintherain · 05/04/2016 08:04

jelly I very much agree with you re alcohol. I just don't want to stick out like a sore thumb here!

I'm in the big boob camp, they just seem to grow and grow! Until Sunday I was managing with two bras but the underwire came out in the washing machine and knackered both the bra and the seal on the door. Oopps. That was a bit of an embarrassing conversation; tell the male building manager I'd broken one of the machines in the laundry room. Blush
