Glad doctors think everything is ok jellybelly did they say what they thought it was?

I definitely feel bigger now and everyone keeps saying bumps grown (30 weeks) one of DS's nursery workers looked very surprised the other day when she asked how long I had left and I said a couple of months. Didn't think I was that huge!

jellybelly85 · 02/04/2016 17:19

Strawberry no idea. THe spots seem to have gone down in size though so thats a good sign... very strange. I get the same look from people who ask how long is left too - I think every bump is different but that doesn't stop people commenting (makes me a little paranoid).

dollydaydream84 · 02/04/2016 17:44

Glad you are sort of ok jelly! Hope symptoms don't progress.

Kind of glad this feels normal, I have obviously forgotten what fun the third trimester is! Realised I am feeling worse having looked at side effects of whooping cough jab which I had yesterday. I literally have every symptom particularly "general feeling of being unwell" so feel a bit reassured that hopefully this won't last for 12 more weeks!!

Eastend2015 · 02/04/2016 17:47

Jelly that sounds pretty scary! Glad you have been checked over and given the all clear for now.

Currently enjoying chocolate, a cuppa and a well earned bubble bath Grin another day of DIY here but at least it has been reasonably relaxed varnishing of shelves.

CamembertQueen · 02/04/2016 17:52

Just found this group, newbie here Smile due June 8th!

MollieRos · 02/04/2016 18:24

Welcome Camembert!

jellybelly glad you're home. Not surprised you're knackered, hopefully you can chill out tonight.

strawberry I keep getting surprised looks when I say when I'm due but for the opposite reason- everyone keeps saying how small my bump is! Makes me laugh- my bump is measuring big so just shows how different bumps are and how subjective it is.

snowflake I'm the same! In fact I've not long got up after a nap today. My bloods were fine but I'm just so knackered!

iamdivergent · 02/04/2016 19:41

Yep, one of the guys at work asked how long I had left. I replied 11wks and he just said oooooft Hmm I don't think I look too huge Grin

MindfulBear · 03/04/2016 00:07

samba when I had DS 4 years ago DH was working overseas most of the time. 2 weeks away and 1 long weekend home, then repeat. .
As we got closer to due date he changed his routine to leaving on a Sunday night and arriving back on a Friday morning every week. This continued until 1 week before the due date and then he took 3 weeks holiday.
DS was born at 40+3 so all worked out.
However as back up I booked a doula for the birth and for post natal support. It worked very well.

So, can you cope with him taking a short work trip if you have adequate back up? Otherwise just give him an outright no so he knows where he stands. Makes it easier all round I find!!

sambababy · 03/04/2016 11:59

mindful that sounds so hard! When we lived in the uk DH used to travel a lot too. I could potentially hire a doula, but the thing is I'll be back in Brazil in a few weeks and besides being the person I want there with me more than anyone, DH is my communicator if I'm struggling to explain or understand anything in Portuguese, which is really important for a birth I think in case something goes wrong. My obstetrician there speaks English but only so well and she won't be there all the time. I think he's given up on the idea now anyway.

laughingGnomette · 03/04/2016 12:34

jellybelly - odd that they couldn't tell you what the matter was. Were the spots itchy? Could it have possibly been a reaction like hives?

Thinking of you nehagarg.

samba - eek, thats tricky. Am I right in thinking you have another DC? Did they arrive before your due date?

Having a physically active weekend. Spent yesterday visiting things in London, walking everywhere. Today we're going on the hunt for wild garlic and picnicking in the woods. I'm not feeling too knackered yet amazingly!

Next weekend we're hitting IKEA for baby bits (their muslins are great!).

pamplem0usse · 03/04/2016 13:13

It seems I only come here to whinge! Must lose that habit as maternity leave starts! DS has chicken pox (actually awesome timing because we're on holiday so no childcare headache but still feeling sorry for myself!) I've got some sort of fluy thing swiftly off the back of the kidney infection from hell which saw me end up at the preg assessment unit... On a positive note this has made me get my bottom in gear sorting out what I need for hospital bags etc - how's everyone doing on that front?
Advice for first timers: rest!! Preg with a full on full time job and a 3 and 5 year old = hard work at the best of times!

cautiousoptimist1 · 03/04/2016 15:29

Welcome to the new ladies.

nehagarg that sounds like a shock but good that you mentioned it early so you can get the monitoring.

jelly hope you're feeling better this morning.

Hope tatted and her little one are doing ok.

I had a really busy day yesterday so have written off today just to be lazy but did spend some time in the garden which was productive and potatoes are now planted out.

I think I've finally settled on a pram and we had a really useful demo from mothercare. I want to order online though so checking every day as the one I want is out of stock! I need to get sorted now really, turning over my work calendar and being able to see my maternity start date really brought home how close it is - 8 weeks left to work.

I'm also suddenly feeling massive although bump is measuring exactly on the line. A lot of people have suddenly commented about bump though like it went from nothing to suddenly being there!

Rose2806 · 04/04/2016 07:52

I have suddenly gone from people not noticing I'm pregnant to random strangers making pregnancy comments in shops! The train guard put me in first class the other day though which was nice. It seems to really vary though, a couple of weeks ago I asked if I could sit in first class because the train was so crowded I couldn't find a seat elsewhere, I had lots of luggage and obviously said I was pregnant, and was told only if you pay for it!

Is anyone else getting a bulge above their uterus if they have a big meal that feels quite tight? I have a feeling last night was the last time I will be greedy and eat a whole pizza to myself for a while.. :-(

jellybelly85 · 04/04/2016 08:14

laughing spots have become very itchy, red and irritating over the last 24hrs. I'm hoping some of the school nurses I work with might be able to take a look and advise. Shingles hasn't been ruled out, just looked unlikely on Sat.

I am so glad this is my last working week. Annual leave next week and mat leave starts thereafter. Going to be a manic fortnight though. DP back tomorrow, then packing and moving - final drive up to New home on Sat, then have to go back across England on Sunday as its DP's grandma's funeral on Monday... Then I can properly start to nest and turn our new house into a home. Exhausted just thinking about it all...

Rose the comments of others is super variable! Could you not ask if anyone on your carriage was willing to give up their seat for you because you are pregnant? I'm also finding eating small portions regularly to be the way forward with food.

sambababy · 04/04/2016 09:27

jellybelly how annoying not to know what it is! It doesn't sound like the docs were very helpful. I have a feeling though your school will send you home, just in case?

laughing yes I have a DD, she was born a week early. I shall try and prepare myself for that this time (I was totally convinced I would be late and still hadn't bought some stuff! Shock), then the baby will probably go overdue lol.

I'm suddenly getting people commenting on my belly too. Within the space of one week apparently I look much bigger. DD was only 6lb, I suspect this one is going to be a giant.

Can I just say how flippin excited I am for all you FTMs? Obviously I'm excited about my new arrival too, and all of yours, but wow how your lives are going to change, in such an amazing way. You can't begin to imagine it at this point but then soon after they arrive you'll never be able to imagine your life without them. It really is the most incredible thing x

Eastend2015 · 04/04/2016 10:57

Samba as a FTM, thanks- I think?! Lol, we are really excited but gosh, an actual little person to look after?! People keep asking me if I'm scared about labour, but I'm more scared/ excited about what comes afterwards!

Homeboddy49 · 04/04/2016 12:00

Hey guys

Thanks for making the new threadSmile

Just had a growth scan, everything perfect (28+1). It was beautiful to see her again. Sadly DH couldn't make it so feel gutted for him that he missed her.

To who ever said they are suddenly feeling the pregnancy is hard work at the moment, I feel exactly the same. A couple weeks ago I was fine but now everything is a huge huge effort. I'm getting breathless just sat at my desk at work. All I want to do is sleep. I have my midwife appt tomorrow so it will be good to see if my iron levels are ok.

My blood pressure has totally dropped and had a funny turn last week and nearly fainted in the kitchen at work. It was very scary.

Am also getting far to much discharge down there it's shocking!! What is the reason for that??

It is amazing we are all in the 3rd trimester now. How exciting! I wonder when we will get the first born on here ! How does it work? Are we going to post pics of our little ones when the one comes (if we have time!!Confused)

JellyBaby26 · 04/04/2016 12:22

Homeboddy it probably won't be long until the next one arrives.

We could start a post natal thread when it happens for people to post their birth stories, or there is always the dreaded Facebook!

nehagarg · 04/04/2016 12:27

Time seems to have slowed down soooo much in the last few weeks. I am still comfy physically but beginning to become very feather-brained. Banged the door on my fingers hard enough to cut myself quite badly, yesterday. DH is now not letting me do anything that involves something sharp or dangerous Hmm

Would love a post natal thread since I am not on Facebook ... Its been lovely, being able to share and learn so much from everyone while pregnant. Sure there will be a million more questions once the baby arrives and I am told to take him home and make him into a decent human being. Blush

Tried the Aqueous cream yesterday to see if it helps with the itching from OC. Didnt realise there was menthol in it. I was sat shivering for 15 minutes .. lol.

On other threads people announce the birth and some put up pics, others don't. Most move onto postnatal threads with their antenatal group :)

I like the Facebook group but it's hard to remember who is who from here to there!

cautiousoptimist1 · 04/04/2016 14:12

samba as another first timer, thank you so much for being so positive! Everyone is telling me how life will never be the same again and it'll never just be me and DH ever again. I know this of course but everyone seems to make it sound so negative. I am nervous about bringing a newborn home but you've managed to make me excited again!

I think a couple of people have already mentioned it but is anyone planning a holiday with the babies? I'm thinking of a uk break in September.

bikingintherain · 04/04/2016 14:54

I am seriously craving a cold beer right now. My last two pregnancies I wouldn't have batted an eyelid at drinking. But this time I've had so many lectures from Dutch midwives and now the UK guidance has changed, I don't feel I've got a leg to stand on anymore!

MollieRos · 04/04/2016 15:03

Samba that's really lovely of you to say, thank you. My DH and I were just saying last night it feels like such a huge and scary thing, it's hard to see the positives a lot of the time.

I've had a stressful morning- I woke up this morning and realised I hadn't felt the baby move at all since yesterday evening (normally I feel him kicking whenever I wake up in the night, and first thing in the morning when the alarm goes off). I also had the horrible pain through the middle of my bump that I had the other day, it was really painful moving around. I rang triage and ended up going in for monitoring- I've not long been back now. Typically as soon as they put the monitor on he was having a party in there- such a relief Grin His heart trace was doing strange things apparently when I had braxton hicks so they kept me on the monitor for a couple of hours and did some tests, but they reckon it's all fine, thank goodness. The pain is likely him just with a knee or foot in an awkward position. Just home now... I could do without that kind of stress on a monday morning!

As I got home my next door but one neighbour knocked on the door... she's knitted a little blue cardie for the baby! It's so kind of her! We know her to say hello to but no more than that. I welled up a bit when she gave it to me- after a rubbish morning it was enough to tip me over the edge!

MollieRos · 04/04/2016 15:07

Oh and cautious we were thinking of a uk break in August/September, possibly with a couple of friends of ours. Would be good to have a few days but not go too far afield to start with I reckon. Though who knows, perhaps we'll be brave by that point and decide to do a little flight somewhere!

Eastend2015 · 04/04/2016 15:07

biking uk guidance has changed?! Last I read, official NHS advice is along the lines of not drinking but 1-2 units 1-2 times a week has been shown not to have any impact- pretty sure it says that in my maternity notes. I have had the occasional (and very enjoyable) quarter glass of something nice and found a reasonable alcohol free beer (which I have made a bit of a ritual of enjoying in a Sunday evening post DIY bubble bath). What is the Dutch advice?
