Oh that's flippin' annoying nehagarg!! Angry

rew0077 · 26/04/2016 18:21

Thanks - it was lovely to get the reassurance that she's ok. Has been moving like a pro since I got home (typical!)
I'm having words with her that she really wants to turn!!
Very envious of everyone already on Mat leave. Hoping to increase my working from home days as I agree they're sooo much nicer!

MindfulBear · 26/04/2016 18:27

Aftwrnoon all. Sorry for the worry and appointments those of you have been dealing with today. How tiresome.

Is anyone else feeling HOT?! I almost fainted in the tube this morning. Just got so hot. Hotness has re occurred a few times today - despite the brief snowfall!!! It didn't help that the northern line was crowded this morning. Not sure why that was - knock on effect of southern trains strike?

MollieRos · 26/04/2016 18:54

Glad everything was ok rew and when I've had to go in for monitoring all the midwives and consultants have been so lovely, even when I'm worried I'm being neurotic.

nehagarg that does sound really annoying. Hopefully your doctor will say you don't have to have it.

I've been so uncomfortable today, the baby's been shifting around loads, digging his feet into my ribs and kind of grinding his head really low down into my cervix, it's such an unpleasant sensation!

Also, has anyone started/planning on doing any perineal massage? The NHS info says to start from 34 weeks and as I'm now 35 weeks I thought I'd better get on with it last night! Not that pleasant, but I'm hoping it'll help with any tearing/need for cutting. Has anyone done it before and thought that it made a difference? I used this info sheet: www.ouh.nhs.uk/patient-guide/leaflets/files%5C10938pmassage.pdf (I think it was posted on here by someone else previously)

nehagarg · 26/04/2016 19:37

Thabks everyone. Lets see what doc says on Friday.

Mollie I am going to start now. 35 weeks too so have to get on with it. Not sure how much it will help but surely it can't hurt.

rew so glad to hear everything is okay with little lady. They do like to worry us don't they!
nehaharg I really hope you don't need it again, fingers crossed!

mindful I'm a naturally cold person, and I've been running so hot the last few weeks!
mollie never done the massage before, but before I had DS I was bathing loads in badedas bubble bath. It's fab for afterwards as well when you're feeling sore, i really think this contributed to me not needing stitches after him so would definitely recommend!

Been feeling very run down today :( I feel like I've pulled a muscle on the right side of my bump as I have been in complete agony walking!

mrsmugoo · 26/04/2016 20:16

Re: perineal message. My SIL was so vocal about this when we were pregnant last time, to the point of being embarrassing talking about the literal ins and out of it to people she barely knew. Cringe.

I won't be starting it until I have an idea of if I'm in with a fighting chance of a VB. Which might be too late, but c'est la vie.

MollieRos · 26/04/2016 20:56

ILove I've never heard of Badedas bubble bath but I've done some googling and I might have to invest if it's that good!

cheshirem2b · 26/04/2016 21:00

rew glad everything was OK! Phew!

wigelspigels · 26/04/2016 21:06

I'm very lucky with my work and get full pay for the first 18 weeks of mat leave. The next 8 weeks is 90% pay. Then normal mat leave. Because our leave year start on the 1st of April, I have lots of leave to take even though I just had 2 weeks of at the star of April and have just about 4 weeks leave I am taking before my due date and mat starts on my due date the 8th of June. I know how lucky I am, especially working for a private sector company.

So far everything is looking good for the home birth - blessed to have a team in our area who is doing a NHS study on home births and have a paid 18 month trial going on with full funding.

Hope everyone gets mat sorted to what they want and babies turn and not to many heart monitor sessions.

emma85x · 26/04/2016 22:33

Just ordered Badedas bubble bath on Amazon. Thank you for the recommendation ilovepies

nehagarg · 27/04/2016 07:16

Thats brilliant wigles. A very generous amount of mat leave.

Hope the bump feels better today ILove. Is it a spot you can ice without giving baby the shivers?

How can I tell if baby has deopped? I have noticed that my breathlesssness and heartburn are better and that I am making more frequent trips to the loo. Does that mean baby has moved away from the lungs and started his love affair with my bladder instead or is he just bigger (I am 35+2 weeks)? He is still head down though, midwife said.

Also had quite a but of pain really really low down my bump last night which lasted 30 seconds or so and then didnt come back. Probably the baby taking a bite out of something?

I am symptom watching as much as I was when we were ttc. Hmm

Got 34 week appointment with consultant this morning and a scan just before. Am seriously hoping that the appointment hasn't been cancelled without my knowledge because of the strikes. Will not be best pleased!!

ILovePies · 27/04/2016 07:29

nehagarg I don't think so, it's right where bubbas back is laying :(
Have you been taking bump pics? I find they're the best way to see if bump had dropped. The pain your describing sounds like baby's head is trying to engage. When do you next see the midwife?

cheshirem2b · 27/04/2016 08:56

Argh! Just wrote a reply to nehagarg and bloody tablet deleted it!
You'll see when bump drops low (mine has over the weekend) but if you can't see a difference it could just be baby moving down a little getting ready to drop in to the pelvis. If the pains continue though see your mw.
I'm seeing my mw on Friday when I'll be 34+5 and I'm sure she'll tell me I'm engaged because I can feel baby is VERY low now. Might ask her to examine me as I need to have a favourable cervix at 37w for induction otherwise they will book me for an elcs which I don't want.
I'm working from home for a few hours today because I'm winding down ready to finish next Thursday. Brew

nehagarg · 27/04/2016 09:22

Thanks ILove and cheshire. It does feel like bump has dropped. I cant lean as far forward as I used to or dit cross legged without bump pressin into my thighs but not sure if that might just be because bump is bigger.

Going to MDU on Friday so will ask them to check. What do you mean by favourable cervix cheshire? I am asking since I might be induced at 37 weeks too which is now less than 2 weeks away (eeek!).

Good luck today Jelly. Hopefully the strike wont affect your appointments.

cheshirem2b · 27/04/2016 09:37

nehagarg because I was emcs with dd my hospital have a different approach to induction. Usually you get a pessary to get things going for 12-24hr, then waters broken and drip. Because I had emcs last time they don't do pessary due to how people can react so go straight on to breaking waters. Obviously if your cervix isn't favourable/open a bit they can't break the waters so you have to have elcs.
I'd you've not had cs before then don't worry - they'll poetically induce using pessary so you don't need to worry about being favourable. Hope that makes sense!

ILovePies · 27/04/2016 09:51

Cheshire are you only being induced at 37 weeks due to previous section or are their other factors?
My hospital will let go over 12 days before they induce me and said I can have one pessary then the drip! It's so weird how different hospital have different policies.
nehagarg unless you ask midwife if bubs is engaged, she probably won't mention it & just write it in your notes so your best off asking when she starts having a feel of your bump :)

cheshirem2b · 27/04/2016 10:04

ilovepies in a gestational diabetic and baby is growing big (+95th percentile for abdomen and head) so I'm being induced between 37-38w. The different induction prices is because if previous cs though. I'm one of their awkward customers! Wink

JellyBaby26 · 27/04/2016 11:56

All OK and have my date.

Baby is below 9th centile for weight and I'm now worried about that despite them saying "normal growth" and not mentioning it Confused

AmIseeingRight · 27/04/2016 12:07

Gosh! I'm so glad for info I get here lol. As a FTM everything is new. I think my little man has also dropped but at 35 wks its good.

Thinking of those who are having babies in 2 weeks. My bloods have improved loads this week and so may have a few more weeks before being induced which is a relief, just cant imagine having a baby in 2 wks but at least it motivated me to get everything ready for his arrival Smile

dollydaydream84 · 27/04/2016 13:45

I keep thinking I will soon feel ready for the baby to arrive but even at 32 weeks I feel so unprepared. Didn't feel like this last time at all!

Thanks for the link to Huffington Post photos for c-section, made me feel a bit braver. Last time we told both sets of parents I was in labour and no one else until baby had arrived. If I have an ELCS don't know what to do as certain parents won't be able to keep the date to themselves but I want the same level of excitement as if it was spontaneous. Added complication of DD needs to go to one set so we definitely need to tell them!

booked83 · 27/04/2016 14:18

Anyone else sleepy like all the time? Yesterday I fell asleep 10-1 and then at bed 11-7 (apart from typical loo breaks!) today thought no way next door banging (there doing up the property n stop bout 4 so can't complain!) so thought ha won't go to sleep yeh right 12.30 - 2

I mean really?! Blush

nehagarg · 27/04/2016 14:36

Aah! Good luck then cheshire. Hope you wont need a section this time.

ILove - I'll definitely ask. I always read my notes before I leave the hospital anyway and ask if I dont understand something. Something that annoys one of the midwives in the MDU because she feels I dont trust them but I am stickler for knowing the details. Grin

Good news AmI. My bloods are normal but the docs are so confused they will induce me anyway. Lol. Lets see what the latest is when I see him this friday.

Jelly I wouldnt worry. Firstly the scans are notoriously inaccurate. Secondly, babies catch up. Mine went from off the scale small head to off the scale large head in a few weeks! Taught me not to worry. Easier said than done though.

Thats how I feel dolly. I am looking at a possible induction in 10-15 days and am just not mentally ready. DH has been organising taxis, talking to my parents about their visits after the baby comes, watching videos, ordering books, getting the bursery ready and I just sit there with my eyes glazed, half asleep. Blush

booked I feel like that if I eat out. Have had to come home half way through the day because have had lunch out and cant keep my eyes open anymore!

OP posts:
laughingGnomette · 27/04/2016 14:55

booked - yes, I'm very sleepy, I've been trying to cat nap on my lunch breaks.

PGP is kicking my arse. I can barely walk the 0.2 miles to DS's nursery to pick him up each day and I haven't been able to get into the office all week. My doctor said it probably won't get any better (great!) but they've sent an urgent referral for physio and I've got my acupuncture appointment. I've got crutches which is helping slightly but lack of mobility is sooooo frustrating!! It looks like I'll be working from home now until I go on leave.

Also had a mw appointment this morning and the baby is breech as I suspected. There isn't much room for him to flip anymore either so it's looking like ELCS might be on the cards.

On the positive side of things, our friend's solicitor has contacted us and they are settling the case out of court so DP won't be needed to give evidence in June. Huge weight off my shoulders as it was scheduled for my due date!
