Oh my gosh Nehagarg! I'm sorry it isn't the birth you wanted but how exciting that your little one will be with you soon!

MindfulBear · 22/04/2016 14:04

Oh that is pants negagag
However with OC I guess you can't take the risk as blood test results lag well behind what is actually going on in the body and the risks are unthinkable.

Do you have a reflexologist who can help you prepare? They might be able to Prep the body for labour and thus avoid, or at least shorten, an induction? Acupuncture too.....

laughingGnomette · 22/04/2016 14:59

Flowers that makes sense. It must be so much to get your head around though. Thats a great idea Mindful. nehagarg, it might be worth asking your midwife about acupuncture at the Whitt if you like, they do offer it and might be worth a try. My midwife gave me a number to call to book an appointment for my PGP (I didn't bother in the end because it has miraculously improved) which I can PM over to you if you like? They might be able to do something for you. I'm not sure if thats naughty or not but who cares! :)

Quick question - I've had a chest infection for a few days now, its not terrible but I'm coughing quite a bit and i can feel and hear crackling quite deep down in my chest. Should I go to the GP or leave it for a little while longer to see if it clears up? They do advise you to on the NHS website but it just seems a bit OTT...

GrubbyWindows · 22/04/2016 15:33

Ouf how stressful nehagarg!!! It's all coming round so soon!

laughing you could ask a pharmacist what they think, easier than getting a gp appointment, but it's taking action of some sort?
I had similar last week, and it has now gone thank goodness.

nehagarg · 22/04/2016 16:17

Thanks all ... It does feel super quick. I still havent managed to get used to the idea that I will be a mum soon. I was banking on the final few weeks to get used to it. Looks like bonding will have to be done on the run Smile

Mindful, I'll definitely try the acupuncture, thanks for the suggestion. laughing .. I have the number. Will go next week maybe.

Thinking of getting disposable cloths/wipes/breast-pads...etc? 25% off everything at www.cheekywipes.com/ until May 1st

Nehagarg gosh what a quick change around! Hopefully work will be understanding. You sound pretty organised so hopefully there isn't too much physically left to sort out?

Jelly your breakdown sounded awful and stressful. What a nightmare.

Laughing would second going to pharmacy to see whether they can help/advise. If still causing you discomfort in 5 days I would arrange a GP appointment (pregnancy is uncomfortable enough as it is!)

Eastend2015 · 22/04/2016 18:02

NHS 111 may also be a good option- feel better soon!

strawberrypenguin · 22/04/2016 18:07

That must have been a surprise nehagarg but honestly induction isn't so bad, they look after you well. One hing I would say is make sure you take some entertainment to hospital with you - inductions can be slow to get going.

Hope you feel better soon laughing

I was a proper grump this morning. I was actually comfortable for once and didn't want to get up. DH bless him must have noticed and is bringing curry home for tea (my one preg 'craving') feel bad for being so grumpy now!

MollieRos · 22/04/2016 18:11

Oh no Jellybaby that sounds like a nightmare! I can't believe it took them so long. And annoyingly I've already got what I need from cheeky wipes... that'll teach me to be organised!

nehagarg wow, that's something to get your head around! But it does make sense and good that they have a plan. And hopefully they can hold on as long as possible to 38 weeks. I suppose who's to say when you'd have gone into labour anyway- you could've ended up only going to 37/38 weeks anyway. At least this way you will be able to sort your mat leave and have time to plan and enjoy some time off beforehand.

laughing you should go to get it sorted- I had a chest infection last year that I didn't do anything about as I felt daft going to the GP just for that, and I ended up with pleurisy. It was fully miserable, I definitely wouldn't want that pregnant or with a newborn- I could barely move!

earlgreydrinker · 22/04/2016 18:40

Thanks for the tip jellybaby definitely getting some reuseable wipes this time. I dread to think how many thousands of packets we have used (I really don't know how I managed in life without a packet to hand all the time!).

nehagarg 37 weeks is considered full term, so baby could come anytime anyway. Although I'm in denial too - we could have a baby in a month but no going back now! DH hasn't been around much this month for various reasons but I have a long list of things we need to get sorted after this weekend or this baby will have nothing apart from some clean clothes (that's all we have got out the loft so far).

laughing I would definitely go and get checked out if you think it's a chest infection. It can get nasty and you don't want to be under the weather any longer than you need to be now x

mrsmugoo · 22/04/2016 18:48

My DS has been with his granny all day today and sleeping over at theirs so I've had the entire day just resting on the sofa. It's been bliss. Roll on maternity leave!!

AmIseeingRight · 22/04/2016 19:08

neha saw my consultant today as well and they say I have OC but since bile has gone back up from 7 to 12 and enzymes are still too high, they will monitor, i'm on meds to being it down and they would get concerned if it go to 20 and would immediately induce if it nears 40 as that is a critical level. On top of it all I have weekly monitoring & blood tests every Monday and will see the consultant every other week and the midwife the alternative week. so much fuss but i guess its important for baby to be healthy.

AmIseeingRight · 22/04/2016 19:13

So I might also be having baby induced between 10-17th May which although is full term, is 2/3 wks earlier than I was mentally prepared for Hmm.

iamdivergent · 22/04/2016 22:03

Gosh that's not long at all ami Shock no wonder you're a bit nervous, it's alot to get your head round.

MindfulBear · 23/04/2016 00:43

We had cheeky wipes last time. LOVE THEM!!!
Used them as face wipes too :)

25% off..... Oooh. But I don't need more... Or do I?!Grin

nehagarg · 23/04/2016 06:41

Eastend it is super exciting and I get excited in short bursts. I had barely gotten my head around the fact that I am pregnant. It usually takes me a while. Took me a year after we got married to start saying, my husband. And because we were only engaged a few months, I never got used to fiance. Weird I know but 2-3 weeks seems like nothing.

AmI good luck. It really is a lot to get your head around all of a sudden. (And I am not even on meds and my levels are normal. But i do get that they dont want to take a chance). I have been given the exact same dates as you. Holding your hand through this. Hopefully we'll get our heads around this in a few days.

jellybelly work should be ok. My boss never expected me to keep coming all the way up to 38 weeks anyway. He is a family man and really gets it. In fact, he has demanded that DH call him when I go into labour. Bit OTT i think but i get the sentiment. Smile

Thanks Mollie, strawberry and earlgrey. I am a little freaked out at the prospect that induction is a more difficult birth but what will happen will happen. But yes, at least I can be a bit more organised, which is music to my OCDed ears. Grin

laughing definitely go see a GP. Chest infections can hang around for much longer, untreated

GrubbyWindows · 23/04/2016 09:04

Oh nehag you hear so many horror induction stories, and nobody ever tells you a good one! Mine was totally fine- 4 hours from the drip going in until DS being born, and I never felt like I needed pain relief. I'd actually been looking forward to the gas and air, but it just never got to the point I felt like I needed it!
I tore, but that wasn't the inductions fault, that is because DS was a 10 pounder! And that was totally fine too, really. So inductions can be easy births too!

ILovePies · 23/04/2016 09:09

nehagarg don't worry too much about induction, sometimes it can be a long process but it can also be very quick. Just take lots of books and things to keep you occupied. Will send you lots of luck and love xxxxx

Mrspopper · 23/04/2016 09:22

My induction first time round was very straightforward and quick with gas and air.

dollydaydream84 · 23/04/2016 14:21

laughingGnomette - get yourself to the GP asap with that chest infection. I had one in labour last time and it was AWFUL! Had another this year and ended up with pleurisy. Pregnancy is not a good time to get a chest infection!

nehagarg and AmI - I am sure when you get your head around it in a few days, excitement will take over :) I went to 42 weeks last time so this time when they have been talking about early sweeps at 37/38 weeks, I don't feel ready! This pregnancy has gone so fast I don't think even if the baby came at 42 weeks I would feel ready!

dollydaydream84 · 23/04/2016 14:23

Can anyone recommend a swinging crib? Haven't looked into them much yet but need to get going! I want it reasonably large so that it lasts to 6 months.

Torfhinn · 23/04/2016 15:11

Wow, ami and neha! Baby in 2-3 weeks! Exciting Grin Glad you are both being well looked after

ILovePies · 23/04/2016 15:40

Dolly I went to 42 to weeks with my first, second came two days early so may not happen again! Those extra two weeks being pregnant really are so uncomfortable!

bikingintherain · 23/04/2016 15:43

I bought newborn nappies today and done back up formula. Starting to feel like I'm getting there preparation wise.

Although I stood trying to work out what the maternity pads were, but left in confusion! I did take a photo though to message a friend to ask her if the thing I think it is is correct. The last thing I want to do is stock up on the tena lady equivalent! My Dutch really needs to improve.
