Thanks ladies,

As long as all June babies arrive healthy, safe and sound that all that matters. Thanks for the nice induction stories as all I'e heard/read are horror stories, its a relief to know that its not always a 3 day journey.

MollieRos · 23/04/2016 16:40

And an early arrival for you too AmI! It must be so tricky to get your head round the new timescale, but as you say healthy, safe and sound is the most important thing. My friend was induced recently and by the sound of it everything was straightforward and not too long. She talks very positively about her experience (it was her first).

I've been pre-washing nappies today, and just mooching. Just woke up from a lovely nap too. My bump is seriously uncomfortable today though. It just feels like I have a huge stomach ache, not pleasant!

nehagarg · 23/04/2016 16:47

Thabk you everyone for the positive induction stories. All I'd heard was horror stories too. In fact, even the NHS website says its more painful and takes 2-3 days. Even if that's the norm, its nice to know that it doesnt have to be. Smile

Beginning to think about getting the nursery ready now. Everything is bought but is stuffed in the cupboards. Have to get organised. DH is properly nesting too. He has been cleaning all morning.

Good luck with the shopping biking. Trying to make heads or tails of a product in another language is such a headache.

nehagarg my DH also seems to be having a nesting day today- he's ordered me onto the sofa to relax while he's busy cleaning and organising upstairs. The end is (almost) in sight for lots of building work we've been having done so the entire upstairs is just our stuff dumped in various piles out of the way, and a layer of dust over everything. By the sounds of all the thumping around up there he's making good progress towards it being a bit more liveable in!

nehagarg · 23/04/2016 19:11

Oh great Mollie. Glad the end is in sight. Must have been very stressful to have so much building work going on and June looming.

Spent the afternoon cooking some kung pao lentils to freeze. We are slowly filling the freezer up for when baby comes and no one has the time to cook. Really want to have a taste but should be good and freeze it for later. Must. Not. Give. In. Grin

House is clean. Nursery set up tomorrow. The next few weekends have duddenly become so busy with the prospect of eqrly induction but I am beginning to relax about it a bit. Hopefully will go back to excited soon. Smile

Thanks for your opinions re: chest infection ladies, I've booked an appointment with the Dr for this week. That said, it does seem to have improved slightly.

I completely jinxed myself by saying my pgp had miraculously improved, over the past couple of days I've been barely able to walk due to back ache/hip pain. I don't think I'll be able to make it into work tomorrow. Seeing mw on Wednesday so hoping to get some advice then. Sad

dollydaydream84 · 24/04/2016 08:20

Aww hope your PGP is better soon Gnomette, it is horrible. Last night my SI joint rolled out of place, I managed to wriggle it back but it was painful :(

Mollie - Our building work hasn't even started yet :( planning permission took ages and now the builder is busy. Hoping they will start this week but knowing what builders are like it could be any time :( Glad the end is nearly in sight for you xx

I'm swaying towards ELCS which I suppose I have been since the start (had EMCS last time) then read a horror story in the paper today about the epidural. Why do they print these things!? Might have to give up newspapers until after June! I am so much more anxious this time than the first time around! I also feel that despite getting to 42 weeks last time, this one will attempt to come early/on time. Anyone else having an ELCS?

JellyBaby26 · 24/04/2016 08:48

Dolly I am having one. What did you read re epidural?

I should get my date on Wednesday!

LouLou030783 · 24/04/2016 09:06

Aww dolly think the paper do things like that for scaremongering it's not fair

I know loads of people who have opted for an ELCS I'm sure all will be good at least that way u actually know when baby is coming an everything can be methodically planned

ILovePies · 24/04/2016 09:24

I had a spinal block with my emergency could you ask for one of those instead of an epidural dolly?

dollydaydream84 · 24/04/2016 10:04

JellyBaby just the usual risks they incur but you always hope they never happen to you.

Loulou yes there is the advantage of
Knowing when it will happen!

I love pies - what is the difference between a spinal block and epidural? Is there less risk with a spinal block?

Vicious baby has kicked more muscle which feels like it's torn again :( and also getting cervix pain. Today has not been a good day so far! Let's hope it improves!! Grin

ILovePies · 24/04/2016 11:29

In all honesty I thought a spinal block was the done thing for c sections, but it gives instant pain relief. Hope the article helps, if you opt for a ELCS you'll probably go over all the numbing options anyway Smile

JellyBaby26 · 24/04/2016 11:34

Yes I thought that for elcs it's a spinal...

booked83 · 24/04/2016 11:39

*Dolly hey I'm having an elcs this time round... Had an emergency c section and emergency forceps w my daughter! I'm very nervous this time don't know why... I avoid anything that has to do w hospitals or c sections!

I'm busy second guessing everything from bottle feeding (again my choice!) down to the damn c section! BlushSad

I've been quite on here this week... Had date w hubby yesterday probs the last one till Harry is here!

I'm at mw tomorrow and bet she will send me to amu, my lower back is killing and my legs and feet have swollen to the point of i struggle to do anything it's taken two hours to tidy down stairs when I can do it in half the time!

Don't know how there going to get those sexy socks on my legs like when I go in! Sad

dollydaydream84 · 24/04/2016 12:24

Thanks IlovePies - not heard of that before! To be honest I hadn't realised the epidural left a catheter in my back, just read that now! I was obviously quite out of it last time!

booked I'm glad I'm not the only one avoiding thinking about it. I'm secretly praying I go into natural labour with a small baby that I can hopefully push out in a matter of hours with no stitches required Grin - wishful thinking! Good idea to get your swelling checked. I had it last time at 41 weeks and they took it v seriously.

booked83 · 24/04/2016 12:39

*Dolly
I am totally avoiding all things... Apart from cute baby things! Haha I keep thinking that natural labour that's like 5 minutes long (I keep hearing people saying oh I was in and out etc!) and I have a no stitches etc!

I'm dreading seeing mw tomorrow... Confused I normally like seeing her!

Well best get back on housework cause have a feeling I won't be able to do anything for a while! Hmm

strawberrypenguin · 24/04/2016 12:49

I had a spinal with DS before forceps (they were prepping for a section as they weren't sure if forceps we're going to work (DS has a Cranio condition before I panic anyone!) it was instant and lovely!

ILovePies · 24/04/2016 13:25

It's amazing isn't it strawberry I was half way through a contraction when they administered mine and it was an instant relief!
dolly my boy was 8ib 12 and I pushed him out without needing any stitches! It can be done. Although my labour wasn't very quick :(

cheshirem2b · 24/04/2016 14:39

Hi ladies

Just been catching up on the thread.
Sorry some of you are struggling.
Getting prepared here as being induced between 37-38w so in 4-5w (due to gd)! Bags are packed. Clothes washed. I had a meeting at home with a member of the infant feeding team as I wasn't able to bf dd and want to succeed this time. They were really helpful and gave me tips, pointers and group recommendations. feeling positive now. A friend also recommended a book called "the womanly art of breastfeeding" which I got and have started.
Only got 2 weeks in work left so it is all feeling very real! Eek!

cheshirem2b · 24/04/2016 14:44

I had an induction with dd at 40w. I was so bored! 12hr with pessary then to labour ward. Waters broken and drip up. 3hr later I was 4cm & had epidural... amazing stuff! Shortly after dd was getting distressed. when they examined me she was brow presentation so had to do emcs. Not the most positive induction story but my case was nothing to do with induction... if I'd been in spontaneous labour I'd still needed a cs with her in the position. Epidurals are lovely though!

dollydaydream84 · 24/04/2016 15:00

I agree the pain relief of an epidural is a welcome relief!

cheshirem2b - good luck, I wouldn't have been able to bf if it hadn't been for an exceptionally patient nurse who helped me hand express colostrum and a visit from the local Home Start team who showed me how to position the baby properly when feeding. I had only been shown "rugby ball" due to C-section and couldn't feed like that when I was out and about so they showed me other ways. Those two people made all the difference to me and my ability to BF. I was lucky though 'cos DD latched easily, I would have given up if she hadn't been able to take to it so easily. Hope it works out for you :) 4-5 weeks to go is soon!

cheshirem2b · 24/04/2016 15:06

Thanks dolly. Dd was shocking at feeding. She was a sleepy feeder with a poor latch so my milk never really kicked in properly and I didn't get support... just nagged to give formula. Much better informed this time.

dollydaydream84 · 24/04/2016 15:30

All I heard about was BFing, then when I had to go to another part of the hospital for tests after she was born, DH was given a bottle of formula and told to feed her as the porter couldn't wait for me to try to BF her. Really annoyed me how all they talk about is BFing but when its not convenient or they can't be bothered to support you, you are nagged to give formula. We were given no support for bottle feeding before then suddenly had a bottle thrust at us, had no idea how much to give her or anything. Luckily she BF and took a bottle so I mix-fed from 8 weeks some expressed milk and some formula. Best of luck with it, stand your ground to get what you want xx

Torfhinn · 24/04/2016 19:12

I had amazing support with bf (not in hospital but at home), but it still didn't work out for me and gave up at about 2 weeks in. It was heartbreaking and i shed many, many tears as i felt like i was failing ds and everywhere you go it's 'breast is best'. I'll give it another go this time but please don't put too much on pressure on yourselves, it doesn't work out for everyone every time and the most important thing is that baby is fed and mum is happy and healthy.

Torfhinn · 24/04/2016 19:13

That really is awful dolly, I'm sorry you had that experience
