I hope they come down to normal quickly AmISeeing ... Mine were not too high thankfully so only took a week's worth of medication to bring them down but they do want to repeat bloods every week to make sure they stay down. My boss is in today and I am going to sit him down and explain what is happening. He has been very understanding but I still feel guilty! He does think I wont make it to my 38 week cut off date though .. lol .. 34+1 now and feeling fine so far.

DH did wonder when my energy levels will be back to normal, this morning.

Hi ladies....

I've had my scan and my date 7.6.16 got a glucose test Thursday cause there is a bit of fluid around him more than normal but all good he is 4 1/2 lbs already...

In amu though for my bloody pressure again! Hopefully not get stuck in a lift this time!

MindfulBear · 19/04/2016 16:15

torfhin, 8 weeks after your due date should be fine for a wedding, especially if there is a cottage on site that you can use. Is there anyone you can take with you to hold the baby when you & your DH are busy? Or is DH not so involved in the wedding so will be free? At worst your LO will be 6 weeks old but they might be 10 weeks old!

After I had DS and after weeks of horrific feeding problems (eventually solved) I attended a week long international sports event in the Uk. DS was 6-7 weeks old and it was very successful too. DH was very involved thankfully - I could not have taken part without him!

Ladies
Those of you with thyroid issues a just found this, which is very interesting.... do keep in mind that some herbs can interact with your illness and your meds so be careful before taking any remedies - eg lots of New mums take fenugreek to help boost milk supply but there are studies out there that suggest fenugreek impacts the conversion of t4 (the synthetic hormone med) into t3 (the active hormone which your body needs)

This article was very revealing given I had such problems with milk supply last time so took fenugreek. Am shocked to Discover it could have been making the problem worse!! We thought my thyroid may have impacted my prolactin levels which interacts with milk production but sounds like fenugreek make also have been a problem! (I already know I have t4-t3 conversion issues)

www.analyticalarmadillo.co.uk/2011/09/spotlight-on-fenugreek-does-natural.html?m=1

"Several sites exploring fenugreek safety, state it can alter balances of various forms of thyroid hormones and thus should be avoided in mothers with thyroid issues. Again a hunt suggests others have found fenugreek helped with thyroid issues, it seems it all really depends on what the problem is. The suggestion is fenugreek may curb the conversion of T4, the inactive thyroid hormone, to T3 the active form of thyroid hormone the body uses (1). Some people already have trouble converting T4 to T3 in the body and therefore the addition of fenugreek to these people's diet might make their symptoms of hypothyroid disease much worse (and reduce milk production)"

NB Dr hale prefers domperidone over fenugreek (well known dr who wrote a book that is the bible re prescribing drugs for bf mothers)

MindfulBear · 19/04/2016 16:45

Nehag
Sorry to hear of your frustrations. Fwiw I believe there is a recent study which has not been publicised widely that seems to suggest you can have the illness (IPC or OC) but have no symptoms which can have devastating consequences.
I have known a handful of people lose a baby at term and a load more deliver early because of the illness. Luckily there has been an awareness campaign over the last few years amongst HCPs such that they are very very aware of how quickly the disease can progress so hopefully fewer Babies will be born stillborn.

Unfortunately this means I very much doubt they will Release you back to Mw led care now as you will still be considered high risk as OC doesn't usually just disappear until after the baby is born. Your dr will be very concerned that it will come back before the end.

nehagarg · 19/04/2016 17:36

Mindful .. That makes a lot of sense and makes me feel a lot better about staying under consultant care. Thanks for that. I had no idea it can come back at any time. Sad

I had a man on the tube seriously ask me if I was on my way to the hospital to have my baby! Err no!

Bit of of an update on DP's I'll-timed court summons- he phoned the lawyer who said that they were "hopeful" of an out of court settlement. If not, he said they'd request for DP to give evidence first so that they could work flexibility in to the timings so if I did go into labour on one of the days he was in court, they could re-schedule his evidence giving (if this makes sense!). Basically he was confident it would all be fine. Fingers crossed!

Hi wigel !

It's a lovely sunny day in London today :)

insideout · 19/04/2016 20:35

Just to add to mindfuls post my consultant said that often the markers they look at for OC can take a couple of weeks to show up abnormal in blood tests even though your liver might not be working properly, so its not likely they will discharge you.

One other thing is that after baby is born it might take a while for your liver to recover ( last time for me it was at least 9 months and even after a year I couldnt touch spirits) also hormonal contraceptives are out due to liver sensitivity, although this is not always the case. Its definitely something to discuss at your 6 week post partum check Grin

MindfulBear · 19/04/2016 23:08

Clearly showing properly now. Got on the tube this evening in rush hour and 3 men jumped up to offer me a seat! That has never happened before :)

MindfulBear · 20/04/2016 07:45

Btw as well as some maternity skirts I'm selling some dresses. Bought them too big!!
See eBay www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/282011271333

booked83 · 20/04/2016 09:04

*mindful that's nice though!

I miss my feet I can only get slip on shoes on right now! Hufm

I have a some research to do over the weekend got my date for baby Harry... 7.6.16 Monday child...

Has anyone had a multiple c section with a cake shelf shall we call it?! X

nehagarg · 20/04/2016 10:22

Thanks insideout ... Had no idea. Well, looks unlikely I will be discharged to the birth centre. No matter. The labour ward has a birthing pool to so if I am lucky, I might be able to use it. And DH has been given very strict instructions that I want to be as mobile as possible. Grin

Good luck laughing .. Good that they are being a little flexible at least. Hopefully it will go well.

mrsmugoo · 20/04/2016 11:20

Nehagarg I'll be on delivery suite too - no pools on mine unfortunately but at the end of the day it's just a room to give birth in. If everything goes smoothly there's no reason for me to see any doctors and it'll still be active/midwife led.

You can still dim lights, request a ball, those wedge cushion things, push the bed to the wall etc...

JellyBaby26 · 20/04/2016 11:27

I know everyone dreams of an ideal birth but at the end of the day all that really really matter is that your baby arrives and it arrives safe and healthy.

You can make your delivwry suite birth as you want it and it definitely doesn't need to be medical used if there's no reason for it.

Has anyone else's movements changed now they are bigger? For the past few weeks mine have been a lot sharper like I can really feel elbows or knees in my side. He really doesn't appreciate it when I carry dd around and feed her!

Soon we can all say "next month "

nehagarg · 20/04/2016 12:44

yep. Thats the idea ... As long as the baby gets here safe and healthy and both of us leave the hospital the same way Smile

OP posts:
laughingGnomette · 20/04/2016 13:17

"Soon we can all say "next month "" - I'm in denial JellyBaby!!!

laughingGnomette · 20/04/2016 13:19

Thanks nehagarg. My mum has also offered to live at ours for as long as we need so we won't have to worry about childcare which is a huge help.

AmIseeingRight · 20/04/2016 13:22

Just been doing all of baby's laundry, which was so cute coz they are so tiny and cant believe in a few weeks my little boy will be wearing them Smile. Then I got to hanging tiny socks and mittens Confused and wondered how to people hang them on the rack!! must be the most stupid thought but oh well. First time mum with baby brain.

mrsmugoo · 20/04/2016 13:25

Did anyone seem OBEM last night? I was irrationally irritated by the Spanish woman who arrived in the MLU and then asked for an epidural when she was 1cm dilated. She was sent home then had her epi on delivery suite. I just kept thinking how there are some of us who really, really want the option of an MLU birth but can't! :(

She ended up with forceps though. She was warned!!

laughingGnomette · 20/04/2016 13:58

Actually I was irritated by the midwife and thought she was being patronising assuming the lady who was clearly in pain knew no better. It's very normal for ladies on the continent to have epidurals so I can completely understand her wanting one rather than being forced to go through pain if that's not the birth she wanted.

mrsmugoo · 20/04/2016 14:07

Yep she should have explained that to have an epidural she'd need to be transferred to the delivery suite and that she's too early in labour to have one a test rather then that absolute fob off with the hot water bottle!

She must have had that explained to her at some point in her pregnancy? I've got numerous pamphlets about MLU only offering gas/water etc...

iamdivergent · 20/04/2016 14:17

Oh I meant to say yesterday that it seems to be 50/50 whether I'll get my home birth. There are 8 in the few weeks around mine and not enough equipment to fill 8 home birth packs! So it could be a hospital dash if I don't have the homebirth kit and go into labour - childcare is going to be a pain too if this is the case Sad - going to order some bits for my bag tonight and get it packed this weekend, another thing off the list! Back to mw in 3wks time for yet more bloods, I'm borderline anaemic too so she thinks I'll probably be on iron tablets after next time, I was hoping to avoid it as I get majorly constipated on them.

laughingGnomette · 20/04/2016 14:19

Sorry, I didn't realise she was on a MLU I thought it was a normal labour ward. Odd that the lady wouldn't have known this was the situation!
The whole 'too early to have an epidural' argument the midwife was talking about has been discredited in recent studies which have shown having an early epidural does not increase the risk of c-sections or other instrumental deliveries compared to having one later on.
