Lovey scan pic ilove
Great cloud wallpaper clarish
I saw some of the Portland program then had to turn over as it was making me cross!

earlgreydrinker · 14/04/2016 20:46

eastend our nursery is also the study at the moment. Think the baby will have to share with at least the bookcase and probably the desk. Haven't even thought about it to be honest, presuming baby will be in with us for a few months first. Suspect this is one of many disadvantages that will become apparent as a result of being no.2!!

mrsmugoo · 14/04/2016 20:51

My DS is 2 and he still sleeps in a room that's a spare room/study!

Torfhinn · 14/04/2016 21:11

Just bought the next to me from mamas and papas - 15% of today for first online orders. Also, there's a website called cosy tots that sells sheets to fit the next to me for £5.75 per sheet (half the price of the 'official' ones. I've bought 4 Grin

MindfulBear · 15/04/2016 00:56

There is no bedroom for this LO as she will be in with us for up to a year. After that who knows where we will be (we rent)! She can always move in with her brother.

bikingintherain · 15/04/2016 07:11

We're gong to have to move. This flat isn't big enough for 5 of us! I'm really hoping to buy but it will depend a little on the Brexit vote. If not we will rent a bigger place in September. Our deadline is when the baby outgrows the Moses basket! (Or maybe crib if we get desperate!)

mrsmugoo · 15/04/2016 07:42

We only have two bedrooms as well - can't afford / don't want to move from our lovely flat just yet! Plus we have an OFSTED outstanding primary school about 50m away so would be madness to move before I can get them into it.

Little one will share with us until she sleeps through then in with big bro in the spare room which we will have to turn into a legit kids room at some point! Although for all those stressing about a "nursery" - my son doesn't give a fig that his bed is in a room with adult furniture and loads of vinyl records in it, nor that his clothes are stored in a plastic box underneath a double bed. We've never had a changing station - a cheapo changing mat on the floor does the job!

emma85x · 15/04/2016 07:58

ilovepies Lovely photo and great news! Congratulations.

I have my MW appointment this morning and I'm going armed with a list of things. I'm 31+1 and she's never measured my bump... She blinking well will today!! I really dislike her predominately because she seems sooo disinterested. Sad Whooping Cough this morning with GP first! I'm going to have to mention the fact that I'm consultant led but have still never met a consultant. MW keeps saying oh well, you will at some point. Really want to change MWs but that would involve changing GP surgeries and I'm not sure that's wise at this stage??!!

Regarding the programme on the Portland... What a bunch of numpties!! DH was sitting though it moaning the entire time! For lovers of OBEM I've found an equally fab couple of series on YouTube called 'The Midwives' there's loads of programmes on there so if you enjoy OBEM and can't wait another week for your fix then head over to YouTube! Grin

laughingGnomette · 15/04/2016 09:53

mrsmugoo - in a similar situation here. We've got a 2 bed + box room maisonette. The box room will be the baby's room eventually but I have no idea what we'll do with all of DP's music equipment that currently lives in there. All of the rooms in our flat are tiny so we can't just fit them in somewhere else. We absolutely love where we live though (great schools, shops and very green) but houses would be well over a million so no chance of upsizing. The thought of moving away makes me feel very sad. We find out about DS's school on Monday - eek!

Still having major wobbles about how I will give birth. I think I'm still pretty much 50-50 ELCS vs VBACS. Anyone else?

GenevaJoey · 15/04/2016 10:07

Oh god, it really is getting close now, isn't it. I had my first antenatal class last night, which was interesting, though V uncomfortable to sit on the floor for two hours. Think I might see if I can gert into an antenatal swimming class for the last few weeks as well. The midwife last night was V useful about explaining the health system here. Now need I need to "shop around" for a paediatrician and a midwife who will visit me at home after I'm out of hospital. Having been in NHS all my life, it is v bewildering being part of a private system abroad. To make matters more complicated I am a "frontalier": live in one country but on the border to another, so will be giving birth in a different country to where I live. It's V confusing.

In other news just getting quotes for removal companies. We're looking at a date of moving about 10 days before im due, which is a massive risk/stress. We wanted earlier but the bank is taking bloody ages to sort out our mortgage!, so we're a few weeks behind. Aarrgghh. Would you take the risk of moving so late? We could probably look ast a date a week or so earlier, but we really need time to do some painting in the house before we get there furniture in. I have as feeling if we don't do it now, it will never get done with a baby around.

Hmmm, baby better stay put for a long time! I was told last night they went let you go more than 10 days overdue here, and if baby is big they will deliver at 38 weeks. Will be checking with my consultant next week to make sure baby is normal sized before I book movers. Little worrid as husband is tall and I am fat: baby is not going to be teeny.

GenevaJoey · 15/04/2016 10:08

Sorry for all my typos! On a tablet with fat fingers!

strawberrypenguin · 15/04/2016 11:12

We find out school for DS on Monday too laughing feels like a long time since we put the forms in!

That sounds stressful geneva hope it all works for you!

booked83 · 15/04/2016 11:47

I'm in mau atm blood pressure and bloods and urine ( checking for pre eclampsia!) and got a scan for my leg but that's later x

insideout · 15/04/2016 13:30

emma you should have seen your consultant by now, you might have to lean heavily on MW/ receptionist to make sure they actually referred you. ( I'm consultant led and saw her at 19 weeks when I had my anomally scan.)

Booked fingers crossed its all ok x

Had Consultant appt on wed, and it looks like Obstetric Cholestasis has appeared in this pregnancy too- am so itchy! My blood pressure was through the roof too which is always fun- certainly not helped by my car breaking down on the way to the hospital. full blood screening and repeat appointments for blood pressure monitoring over the past 24 hours and am now on weekly bloods as they are expecting PE to appear at some point too Sad . Am 29+4 so still hoping to get to 36-37 weeks but have been sorting out clothes just in case.

booked83 · 15/04/2016 13:49

Still waiting for results! There happy with bump oh n I have decided on a name eventually Harry Brian Peter (Brian and Peter are our dads names!)

laughingGnomette · 15/04/2016 13:50

insideout and booked - how stressful for you both. Thinking of you and hoping for the best xx

Good luck for Monday Strawberry!! Are you confident of getting your first choice?

Geneva - glad to hear you've had some clarity about the health system. I've been swimming when I can throughout this pregnancy and love it. You can almost forget that you have a bump.

We have a lot of you moving and having building work done at the moment, good luck to you all!!!

Potkettleblack2 · 15/04/2016 14:29

Sorry to hear some of you are suffering. Fingers crossed for those of you learning about schools-I'll be in that position next year.

Thanks for the advice on the Next to me yesterday-when I went to buy they had none in the colour I want in stock so I didn't get it. I'll order it in instead.

I don't think I have ever felt as tired! I have visitors staying this eve and the thought of making the bed is weighing on my mind-it feels like a huge undertaking and almost as if I was facing a climb up Everest!

emma85x · 15/04/2016 14:53

insideout and booked Thinking of you both - Keep us posted.

My MW is officially useless!!! Saw GP today and she said my thyroxine does should have been increased by at least 30% by the start of the pregnancy. Nope!! Still on minimum dose. Thankfully GP has referred me to see a consultant next week as MW still hasn't.

I had a MW appointment straight after my GP appointment and she measured him for this first time (31+1) Turns out he's measuring at 34 weeks. It's not GD so not sure why this is the case. She also has no idea so will see what consultant says next week. Considering going for a private growth scan. What would you do? Really need some advice on this :( It's not due to my high BMI because that's already taken into consideration with the graph (it's based on my weight and height. I really don't want to be induced early or have a C-section - Have been planning on Hypnobirthing. Just hope baby is okay.

So sorry for the rant. Needed to vent my frustration.

Eastend2015 · 15/04/2016 15:15

I hope all goes well inside and booked. No advice Emma unfortunately but it sounds like those measurements are pretty unreliable so try not to stress too much!

Bubs feels like he/she is trying to make a break out of my right side and it's so sore plus I'm so tired! I spoke to my parents and they were super supportive (we normally have quite a strained relationship) and it made me feel quite emotional so I had to grab a meeting room quickly to have a little cry. I have a cuppa now so feel loads better but I seriously need to get my shit together, This could go on another 11 weeks!

GrubbyWindows · 15/04/2016 15:27

Thinking of you booked and inside!

emma please don't worry- the bump measuring is so inexact- in fact it is only a useful measure if it's always the same person who takes it, and even then just as a rule of thumb. There is really very little evidence of it being worth measuring as it is so unreliable! Hard not to fret though!

eastend I'm the same!! I'm totally exhausted, and tearful. DP has taken DS today to give me the day off, and will work tomorrow instead. I can't seem to shake off this cold, and I can't sleep because of night sweats.
Is anyone else getting those? I remember them from last time, but they seem to have come on sooner this time. I wake up in a lake of sweat, nightclothes need changing, as do the sheets but I haven't the energy or the heart to kick DP out of bed to do it. Then I lie in a freezing puddle feeling miserable for ages, finally drift off again, and repeat an hour or so later! Argh! And YUCK

dollydaydream84 · 15/04/2016 15:34

emma I would also say that the growth scan measurements are quite unreliable. Have heard many instances where big/small babies have been predicted and they have been very normal in size. My DD1 measured 3/4 weeks bigger at one stage, had growth scan, nothing unusual on that so concluded that I was loaded with extra fluid (rather than the baby) due to water retention. They do growth scans to check if you have extra fluid (not too concerning) or if the baby has extra fluid (polyhydramnios) as they have to know that for delivery to deliver in a certain way I think (or the opposite, too little fluid if measuring small). It could very well be a growth spurt too.

If you want to change midwives you are within your rights. I have seen a different one every time as "my" midwife is on long term sick leave so I just get whoever can cover. Found it no different to having one all the way through last time as the last one couldn't remember from week to week who I was anyway! Plus you will have a totally different midwife in labour so if you want to change and are that unhappy,I wouldn't have though it would have been a problem.

clarish84 · 15/04/2016 15:35

Had an other growth scan today and baby has had a good growth spurt and is now on track and my fluid is at a normal level I'm so relived I was so worried he's now weighting over 4lb x

laughingGnomette · 15/04/2016 15:47

Oh emma that really is rubbish! Don't worry about the MW measurements. I imagine the consultant may book you in for a growth scan. I'm not sure if the NHS would accept findings from a private scan but I may be wrong xx

dollydaydream84 · 15/04/2016 16:25

Aww clarish thats good news - sounds like a proper weight too! How many weeks are you?

strawberrypenguin · 15/04/2016 16:36

Your MW sounds rubbish emma hopefully the consultant can reassure you a bit. Bump measurements are unreliable and depend on the person doing them in my experience. My consultant had measured bump bigger than my MW in he same week but MW was happy as all 'her' measurements were following the same line (and I'd had a growth scan so no concerns)

Unfortunately not laughing we're expecting to get our 3rd choice which is our local school and he only one we're actually in catchment for! It's not a bad school but they do a few things we don't like such as mixed year classes for the older years and their IT provision isn't great.
