Thread #4 - TTC#1 the one where Stark joins the grads!!!!

Welcome to another riveting instalment of TTC#1 grads.

We've got new grads POAS every day just to make sure, 1st Trimesters wondering if they will be hit by the dreaded morning sickness or not, those approaching the hollowed promised land of the second trimester where all is good and the glowing will prevail... Those who have reached the second trimester and are thoroughly miffed at the lack of glowing.
We have scan photos, bizarre symptoms and the joys of baby shopping, and very importantly we now have Stark!

All are welcome on the wild gas powered ride that is TTC#1 grads Grin

Bunch that sounds rubbish Sad but at least they're keeping an eye on things so they can't get out of control.

You have my sympathies regarding the stupid people taking bloods. My first lot was taken by a chap that didn't seem to know one end of a needle from the other. He chose the most awkward vein ever and then managed to give me a massive cut when he took the needle out. git!

I know the 20 week scan jitters are normal and I keep trying to talk myself out of them but it's just not working. Confused

Unfortunately OH has to work tomorrow so no chance he can come with me as I'll be too long for it to be a lunch break jaunt.

Is anyone else 20 weeks plus getting constant cramp in their tummy and lady parts? I'm also getting lots of stitches that are knocking me to the floor. It's not fun and gets worse the further into the day I get.

shelbTa · 11/04/2016 16:01

Aww bunch that is so tough, on all counts, I'm not surprised you had a little cry! Did they indicate what might be causing it? Is there no closer hospital?

Potato - no pains like that here really. Try not to worry about Friday - understandable though. I have mine that day too! What time is yours?

I feel really sick and dizzy today for some reason.

X

PotatosMum · 11/04/2016 16:19

Shelb I think mine is at 9am (I didn't want to be waiting all day) when is yours?

I'm sure we'll both be fine. It's just nerve racking.

I know someone who got to their 20 week scan and got bad news. It's not terribly common but it is scary.

BunchOfBobs · 11/04/2016 16:31

No closer hospital Shelb . That's my "local" one. I've got my heart set on giving birth at my MLU which is 15mins away but now being under a consultant I don't know if that will still go ahead, and that's without my bloods changing.

PotatosMum · 11/04/2016 16:47

When are you meeting your consultant Bunch?
One of the first things they spoke to me about was that I would need to give birth in hospital so you should know either way quite quickly.

BunchOfBobs · 11/04/2016 16:50

Not sure yet Potato. They've said they've got no appointments this week but they're trying to rearrange things and will call me. I imagine I'll be told "it depends on how your bloods change". Pfft, do you reckon I can refuse?

Morwenna1 · 11/04/2016 16:52

Just catching up - sorry to hear about everything Bunch - but you've just got to think that the best thing is that they've picked this up and you'll be monitored on it. I've decided that there is no way on this green earth I'll be letting any students near me. I know everyone has got to learn sometimes, but pregnancy (and especially your first) is a stress-inducing exercise all by itself and I don't need to be worrying about whether the person in front of me knows what the f they are doing! That is one element of my birth plan that I intend on sticking to (even if everything else goes out the window!) My Mum had a bad experience (won't go into details) with a student and that has put me off completely.

Potato so sorry to hear about your Mum Flowers Difficult to know what to say that hasn't already been said, just focus on yourself and mini-potato. Friday will come around and although I was a bag of nerves before my 20 week scan (completely understandable) all was well.

And I'm sticking to Team Yellow! I'm not giving the game away sorry ladies Grin

LO still isn't in a routine with kicks, seems to be happening at all times of the day or night and it's difficult not to start worrying when everything goes quiet. Definite notice of increased movements when I've been rushing around and then go and sit down. And I think last night the LO had hiccups!!

City Jogger all the way (can't remember who was looking into this!) It's awesome.

Morwenna1 · 11/04/2016 16:52

Oh, and ASOS have 50% off sale (on maternity stuff too) Just bought another dress, oops.

Nevlet · 11/04/2016 17:39

I will catch up with everyone else but am In a bit of a flap just went for a wee and there was a start of period amount of red blood and a clot... Am waiting for midwife to ring me back now Sad

shelbTa · 11/04/2016 17:47

Mines at 9 on Friday too potato!

What a pig of a situation bunch Chocolate

Ah nev that's harsh - have you any cramps? How many weeks are you?

X

PotatosMum · 11/04/2016 17:53

Nev try not to panic I'm sure it will be ok. Have you had any pain? It is quite common to have a small amount of blood/clots in early pregnancy.

Fingers crossed the midwife will call back soon Thanks

Nevlet · 11/04/2016 17:56

19... Spoke to my midwife at local mlu (we are very rural) who reffered me on phone to main hospital about 45/50 mins away who want me to go in! Really in a panic now!

BunchOfBobs · 11/04/2016 18:05

Try not to panic Nev- so easy for us to say, but it won't do you again good being stressed. It's good they want you in as its checking everything is okay. Let us know how you get on. Sounds like you live as rural as me.

Nevlet · 11/04/2016 18:47

Thanks bunch we live in a small village no shops pubs or anything at all but have a few smallish coastal towns but where we are is almost a big spit of land out into the sea on the essex/suffolk coast so have to go inland a fair way for decent size hospital as the coastal rural population is low. My DM works here... Thankfully finishes at 5 so no chance of being seen and causing mass panic!!

Newmrs22 · 11/04/2016 19:03

Oh gosh Flowers for everyone who's having a rubbish day.

Bunch it's good they've picked up on it early. Better to know than not.

Nev hope all is well. I didn't realise how common a little bit of bleeding was, but it seems like lots of people have it.

potato I've been having the odd sharp stabbing pain that makes me nearly fall over/cry. But it goes really quickly.

Nevlet · 11/04/2016 19:31

Thanks everyone they have checked me and him over baby's heart beat is fine etc... Just waiting to have my cervix inspected by a doctor. Glamorous.

PotatosMum · 11/04/2016 20:30

Nev glad baby's fine... Err, enjoy your cervix inspection Confused

New glad I'm not the only one getting stabby pains. They wouldn't bother me so much if I didn't also have the constant tummy cramp to go with them. Stupid body Angry

Sodasoda · 11/04/2016 20:42

Sounds like everyone has had pretty shitty days.

nev - glad baby is ok. My cervix sends her sympathy - from one over-examined cervix to another Wink

bunch I hope you're ok. I was very upset when I was consultant led (for things other than the pesky cervix) but now I feel a bit more relaxed and just glad they're keeping an eye on things. I also asked about giving birth in a MLU and they have said that just because I'm having a medicalised pregnancy, no reason I'll need to have a medicalised birth so fingers crossed same applies to you.

My 20 week scan is on Monday and its definitely playing on my mind a bit. I think worrying is normal potato and shelb

Waves to everyone else xx

Nevlet · 11/04/2016 21:26

Haha could think of no other word to describe it other than an inspection? Examined is probably a better word!

PotatosMum · 12/04/2016 07:13

Morning all, how are you feeling today?

Is anyone else having their 20 week scan in the next couple of weeks? There seems to be quite a few of us Smile

leoniethelioness · 12/04/2016 07:54

Not in the next couple of weeks but mine is this time next month 🎉

Finally have a 16 week appointment booked for tomorrow. I hope I can hear the baby's heartbeat.

How is everyone else this morning?

Newmrs22 · 12/04/2016 07:56

Word of advice. Enjoy the 20 week scan. I didn't relax until the end when they said yep everything's fine and then it was over! So just try and relax and enjoy seeing baby again.

leoniethelioness · 12/04/2016 07:57

I'm currently wondering for how much longer I can wear maternity dresses to work before someone has the nerve to ask if I'm pregnant. I've told my line manager and team leader, and one of the other managers, but not any colleagues or work friends yet. I am hoping if I hear the heart tomorrow that I'll feel more convinced that I'm going to have this baby and I can tell some more people. I feel quite worried about something going wrong and having to un-tell people and I also really like my job and just want to get on with it like normal until September. I wish I felt more relaxed!

Danni89 · 12/04/2016 08:33

Potato I have my 20 week scan in a couple weeks, and yes I'm shitting it too! Just hoping everything is ok

PotatosMum · 12/04/2016 09:04

Leonie you should hear the heart beat at your 16 week appointment but don't worry if the midwife can't find it. In my experience despite the MN opinion that only a trained professional can use a Doppler, midwives are rubbish at it. I had to tell one midwife where to aim as she was looking in the wrong place and I took over from another as she would have been there all day Confused

After your 12 week scan the chances of miscarriage really do plummet to near nothing. I know it's hard not to worry but just keep telling yourself that the odds are overwhelmingly in your favour.

New I will try my best to enjoy it but I think it will be pretty difficult until I get the all clear. On the bright side I've got 3 further scans booked by my consultant at 28, 32 & 36 so I'll get to see plenty of Potato after the anomaly scan.

Danni it does seem that we're all excited and looking forward to our scans while also terrified of them. I keep telling myself the chances of anything being wrong are tiny but it's still hard not to worry... I guess this is practice for the next 20 years!!
