Mild braxton hicks here too. Not very often but no doubting what they are!

Midwife called today, turns out I have strep b :( I know it's good to be forewarned on these things but I'm having a mini hormonal sulk that the apparently lovely midwife led birthing unit is well and truly closed to me this time.

I can feel a list of questions forming for my next midwife appt!

Fizzyboo · 18/04/2016 19:44

So I'm back from my consultant appointment, and I'm being referred to guys & st Thomas' in London this week.

The consultant was great, but again, the little one wouldn't play ball, I had to do a ten min lap of the hospital at one point.

However, she eventually did get a look at the 3 vessel view and said they are normally much closer together and there is quite a distance between them. She said the 4 chamber view is great, no probs, but she doesn't know about this vessel and if it still could be babes position, or is within normal ranges or if it's a problem. She said she would want to be referred as she can't really give me a 100% answer, and so that's what's happening. I asked if it could be a fatal thing and she said no, that's usually something in the 4 chambers.

I'm careering from one emotion to the next at the mo, I'm glad I'm being seen by guys & st Thomas, I mean even if I were stinking rich I couldn't be seen by better, but I want perfection for my baby, we all do.

So more pacing and wishing away of time for me, she said I should hear from them tomorrow and be seen this week, just can't come soon enough.

One thing that was confirmed however in all this. Babes is definitely a girl x

lilygirl81 · 18/04/2016 20:07

Fizzy how stressful for you, but you are right, you are going to be seen by the absolute best in the country. It sounds positive though that it's not a fatal issue, and fingers crossed it is just your little girl being in an awkward position.

Mslg · 18/04/2016 20:20

Fizzy hopefully you will get your appointment quickly so you're not waiting around. I'm sure your baby has just been in awkward positions so far that it's been hard to view the vessels. You're definitely in the best possible hands!

Biscuits I also had/have GBS, found during a urine test about 5 weeks ago. Got a letter in the post from the midwife at my hospital to say they would just give me antibiotics during labour as a precaution. What makes you think that you can't have your baby in the midwife led unit? I would double check with them, apparently it's possible to have a water birth with GBS as the antibiotics are only given intravenously every 4 hours. I plan to ask my midwife on Friday at my 25 week apt what my options are but I would hope I can still have my baby at the midwife led unit at my hospital.

Dileas29 · 18/04/2016 20:31

Yes mslg & biscuits at my booking in appointment when midwife knew my last child had GBS she said I could still Have baby at midwife led unit as it would be a matter of having antibiotics through labour. Hopefully that is standard throughout all hospitals and applies for you too! Although ultimately a safe healthy baby is what matters most so that takes priority for me wherever I'm placed.

fizzy congratulations on the girl news and I hope you are taking relief from knowing it's not fatal.

Biscuitswithtea · 18/04/2016 20:47

Fizzy that sounds like a good scan, albeit still with some unanswered questions. But the questions are getting less terrifying by the sound of it :)

Mslg the no midwife unit thing has come about through a variety of factors - the strep b thing on its own would make it still negotiable I think. But that combined with having had two haemorrhages after ds was born (not to mention my holey heart) means that those doors are firmly closed. I'm okay with that really, I just don't want to feel so bamboozled by so much medical interventions that it becomes stressful. But as DH has sensibly been pointing out, midwives calmly putting precautions in place is very different to panic stations.

quitecrunchy · 18/04/2016 21:44

Fizzy sorry the scan didn't entirely put the worries to rest. That sounds really positive that the chambers look good though. Fingers crossed the concern about the vessels is just down to bub's awkward positioning again. Sounds like you're in good hands at any rate, and good that they're not keeping you waiting too long between appointments.

Fizzyboo · 18/04/2016 22:18

Thank you all so much for being so lovely and caring

Fizzyboo · 19/04/2016 09:25

I'm being seen tomorrow morning. Stupidly sat up all night googling. My previous confidence has nosedived, absolutely terrified.

lilygirl81 · 19/04/2016 09:29

Fizzy that's great you are being seen so quickly, fingers crossed for you, and step away from Google!!

Christinedonna · 19/04/2016 09:46

Just got a call from the bank. Someone has somehow got OH bank details and spent £600 this morning online shopping at boohoo! Taking their summer wardrobe seriously

plimsolls · 19/04/2016 09:49

Good luck today fizzy. Will be thinking of you and babes.

lilygirl81 · 19/04/2016 09:51

Christine that's awful, I hope the bank replace the money quickly for you

Christinedonna · 19/04/2016 09:57

fizz I'm sure everything's fine! You just have a little diva that wants you to look at her as much as possible! You'll be telling her the story of how she scared everyone in a few years.
The crafty fuckers done it in three transactions so as not to raise any eyebrows he's been refunded for the first two but they need to investigate the first one as its already been processed! How crazy that people can actually do that

Christinedonna · 19/04/2016 13:15

*they need to investigate the third one

OohMavis · 19/04/2016 13:34

Itchy nipples Angry

That is all.

lilygirl81 · 19/04/2016 13:53

The joys and glamour of pregnancy mavis!

ToElleWithIt · 19/04/2016 14:37

Fizzy very best of luck for tomorrow. Will have everything crossed that it's just baby's position or something minor. I'm so glad you're being seen by the experts quickly.

Good grief - is it even possible to spend £600 at boohoo?! That's a hell of a big delivery of lycra they're expecting. What a pain for your OH though.

Has anyone else seen their linea nigra appear (the dark vertical line on your stomach)? I got it last pregnancy, but can't remember at what point it appeared. No sign of it yet.

plimsolls · 19/04/2016 16:41

I came on here to post something and I HAVE COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN WHAT IT WAS. Oh dear, is this the start of things to come?

No linea negra for me yet (21+2). Nipples aren't itching but when I get cold, it feels like someone has attached electrodes to them.

fizzy i got confused earlier and thought your appt was today. I will be thinking of you again tomorrow! good luck.

Christinedonna · 19/04/2016 16:46

I've got the line! Very faint and can only see it in pictures (but that's just because I can no longer see beneath my belly button without visual aid

Basketofwool · 19/04/2016 17:12

Same here Mavis

Ugh. Been feeling rotten all day after my GTT :-(

bearhuggy · 19/04/2016 17:14

fizzy try to stay off dr google, it does nothing but cause anxiety and as you said, there are a lot of ? marks on the notes, so don't take anything literally from those. You are being seen by the absolute best who will no doubt give you all the answers tomorrow and fingers crossed your little one is just playing hard to get! Will be thinking of you.

Elle no line yet for me but my belly button has popped! very odd and at a wedding this weekend you could just see it through my dress which everyone found hilarious :)

First antenatal session last night went well, we were a mix of groups for this first one and met some mums to be who were right at the end of their pregnancies (38+ weeks) and woahhh, the difference in bumps was unreal. Not looking forward to that swollen end stage very much.

I have my 4D scan tomorrow morning which I am looking forward to, bit nervous about seeing baby for some reason, just dawned on me how 'real' these scans can look !!

Christinedonna · 19/04/2016 17:22

bear I have mine on Sunday! It is weird, we're actually going to see what our babies look like (even if they don't stay looking that way for long) can't wait!! I'm most nervous about them telling me she's not a girl and that the hundreds of things we've brought need to go back!
Took the plunge today and finally coloured my hair, I haven't taken a paracetamol since being pregnant and used to dye my hair jet black but haven't touched it since being pregnant. So it's washed out and gone quite brown, I took advantage of the lightness and added some highlights today! Made me feel so much better, I used to get my nails done every week and feel pampered and lately I've just felt like a baby grower but I finally feel nice again! Just getting ready for date night. There was a time this jacket done up!

Sophia1984 · 19/04/2016 17:37

Stupid busybody cow at the bus stop incurred my wrath today. Have had hellish day at work, went to doctors to get MAT B1 only to find midwife has put my original due date on, which has since changed, so it's useless. Walked ten minutes to nearest bus stop home, with my round ligament pain killing me, finally sat down on wall to wait for bus, when this woman came past and said 'I hope you're not sitting on the flowers!' At first I politely said 'Oh no I'm not and showed her..' but as she failed to actually talk to me and just kept muttering I ended up shouting 'I'm pregnant - I think I'm allowed to sit down!' and promptly burst out crying! Is anyone else's bump really hurting?

Sophia1984 · 19/04/2016 17:46

Sorry you couldn't get more reassurance fizzy I was really worried about heart defects, as the antidepressants I was on cause an increased risk - from all of the reading I did, it seems like heart defects are actually the least serious of various things that can be wrong (which seems counterintuitive as heart is so important, but defects tend to be easily fixed it seems). It also sounds like the consultant just wanted to be extra, extra sure. The problem with Google is that it starts off being reassuring but the further down the search results you go, the more worrying tangents come up! Please look after yourself until tomorrow x

Plimsolls I am crying at the drop of a hat. See example above, and also when a bus failed to stop for me despite me waving! I have always hated being 'told off' so when someone is even slightly critical now it sets me off!

Lovely bump Christine! I found yesterday I can't wear non-maternity leggings anymore, which feels like a similar milestone. Think I might get myself a denim jacket to wear with summery maternity dresses Smile Enjoy your date night!
