Happy birthday Coco :)

Christine I really wouldn't worry about that final part. When DS was finally born I didn't give too hoots about what was or wasn't on him. In the end he had to be whisked away briefly so I was probably the last person in the room to hold him. Whilst that messed with my head for a while afterwards, in reality it didn't matter. It taught me an important thing though: like labour itself, I can't plan the aftermath, only have a preference.

24wks today. And bubs had decided to have a quiet day which is doing my head in!

Dileas29 · 16/04/2016 20:40

Happy happy birthday four!! CakeStarI hope the rest of the day makes up for earlier, good you got whatever it was off your chest and to make up with DH to. Enjoy the meal maybe it is just what you guys need!

Thanks for all the lovely comments, very sweet! Lovely bump pics christine & mslg too! alflie the dress is from Zara, non maternity but I think the angle of the stripes and stretchy material means it was wearable!

sheer I was just about to ask about the chord clamping, do you guys think it's a routine requirement to leave the chord attached for longer? Or is it worth putting in birthing plan notes? I've read up on it and definitely think it's worth leaving to nature as long as possible.

Lots of vivid dreams here too, waking up to needing the loo again through the night, leg cramps and the dreams is not a great combo! Found my pregnancy wedge pillow today from last time so hopefully it helps with the comfort at least!!

OwlinaTree · 16/04/2016 22:44

I think when I had my son they advised me not to bath him straight away, the white stuff sinks into the skin and it's good for the baby. I had him by c section, they showed him to us straight away, then I imagine they must have wiped some of the gunk off him, I don't remember him being covered in blood or anything. Tbh you won't really care, you'll be so pleased too meet the baby!

MrsZumbaDancer · 17/04/2016 14:58

dileas delayed cord clamping isn't routinely done in my area so was in my birth plan for DS and will be for this one :)

DS had rugby, then swimming lessons and now has a party to go to at 3.30pm.. I'm shattered!

Sophia1984 · 17/04/2016 15:12

Biscuits My little one had a lie-in at 24 weeks too. He's been back to kicking me constantly since :-)

Sophia1984 · 17/04/2016 16:00

Random question - do you think it's safe to eat halloumi that has been in the fridge and opened for more than 3 days? I think having to throw it out would make me cry!

OwlinaTree · 17/04/2016 17:33

Don't know about your halloumi, but I ate out of date eggs yesterday, and I'm OK!

Christinedonna · 17/04/2016 18:58

I ate a bit of cake the other day that when I got half way through, realised was moldy! I thought my mouth felt furry👀

Tessabelle74 · 17/04/2016 19:06

Hi ladies! How are you all? Not popped in in a while. How is Lily doing? I'm feeling massive this week, my bump has sprung out of nowhere 😵definitely on the countdown now, whoop! 22+5

August 2016 number 4 - bumps popping and scans happening, we actually have babies!
FourForYouGlenCoco · 17/04/2016 19:17

Must be something about 24 weeks - mine went quiet then too! Hope you've been kicked to bits today biscuits Grin
Sophia I'd totally eat it, it'll be cooked after all (I assume). I am generally pretty lax with use-bys for both myself and DD, we've both survived so far.
dileas cord clamping - think it really depends on your midwife - some of the more hippyish ones will leave it IME but not worth the risk, stick it in your notes if it's something you'd like.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, we had a lovely meal out in the end, was nice to just talk to DH for once without 'mummy, mummy, mummy' as a constant background chorus! Feel like we really reconnected Smile My unsolicited advice to any of you guys expecting #1 - spend lots of time with your OHs while you can! Things are so crazy once babies arrive that relationships can fall by the wayside temporarily - having a good solid foundation can never be a bad thing.

Fizzyboo · 17/04/2016 20:25

Biscuits I was exactly 24 weeks yesterday too, and babes also decided to go very quiet indeed, which sent me into absolute panic mode, coupled with everything else I got into a right tizz. But when I eventually got into bed, I got a whole day of kicks and flips for ages, most reassuring! Hope you did too!
Happy birthday for yesterday coco, glad you had a special night with your honey Grin
I feel a lot better about the consultant scan tomorrow, me and DH sat up till 4am talking about it, at least tomorrow we'll have some definite answers. We're trying to remain positive and hoping for the best, but steeled for anything else. He thinks that if there was no 4th vessel the heart wouldn't work, amazingly I've stayed off of google so my knowledge of the chambers and vessels is limited at best, but I want to believe he's right... Anyway, no point in guessing, just have to get through the time till my appointment and get some facts.

Biscuitswithtea · 17/04/2016 20:48

Sigh. Wrote a post and it vanished into thin air.

Glad you had a good meal Coco - and yes, defo make the most of time with OHs. But we found that we learned to treasure much shorter chunks of time, rather than wishing for whole days etc :)

Bump is def more active today - in fact that's what woke me this morning! My placenta is at the front so there are fewer opportunities to notice wriggles at the moment anyway. But yes, it's so lovely and reassuring to feel baby moving.

LotsofDots · 17/04/2016 21:40

Is anyone else suffering from suddenly worsening pelvic pain? Never had any at all in previous 2 pregnancies, and suddenly wham, yesterday I was really struggling by the evening especially with getting up from the sofa etc. I bit the bullet this afternoon and bought a new dream genii pillow as I haven't located my lost one and am hoping it will help. (Mothercare were doing a price match so it was £37 instead of £49) I am 25+4 now... Going to be a long 15+ weeks if this keeps up!

Fizzyboo · 17/04/2016 21:54

Yeah I am lots. Even mentioned it to my midwife who asked me if I still have my appendix Shock it's just on one side and walking makes it so much worse! The faster I walk the worse it is... I'm figuring round ligament pain, not appendicitis!!!

quitecrunchy · 17/04/2016 22:56

Good luck tomorrow Fizzy at the cardiologist, hope all's well and you get a nice view of everything working as it should.

OwlinaTree · 17/04/2016 23:54

Will be thinking of you tomorrow fizzy

Chianablue · 18/04/2016 01:17

Good luck fizzy

Feeling a bit down today, think my hormones are playing up. I think I'm a bit over sensitive at the moment.

In work all I hear is comments on the size of my bump which I don't mind. It makes me laugh how some people think I'm big, and others think I'm small.

Just felt a bit insulted today though. One girl has been in a relationship the same amount of time as I have. She turned around after bitching about her OH to say well at least I'm not pregnant.

I didn't say anything, I know I'm being silly by being hurt by the comment but ugh it's annoying.

Never mind.

Sorry for the rant, hope your all well!

PickleBot · 18/04/2016 10:00

Good luck Fizzy I'm sure your lo was just playing hide and seek!

Chianti I'm a bit tye same, except I'm getting irrationally angry!

Lots me too, hopefully I'll be able to get a physio referral soon, but my mw refused to do it as I want a private one and getting in to see my Dr is nearly impossible! I've found things like getting off the sofa and getting out of bed are much less painful if you keep your knees together!

sheer I am also pro delayed cord clamping and have it written into my birthing plan and maternity notes, I am also using a handmade cord tie rather than the plastic hospital ones as have heard these are so much more comfy for baby, don't get irritated by the nappy and cause the cord to fall off and heal much quicker. Cant be a bad thing!

coco Happy belated birthday Flowers, glad to hear you had a lovely evening out with your husband. Great advice to spend as much time with our partners before babe arrives....it suddenly dawned on me this weekend that we only have a small amount of time left just the two of us and we need to really make the most of it.

fizzy good luck today, thinking about you.

dots I have been suffering with back/rib pain this past week, saw the osteopath who helped and 'popped' a few bits back into place! Can you book to see someone to get some treatment? Also I have one of these small massage balls (www.amazon.co.uk/KE-Sensory-Massage-Trigger-Reflexology/dp/B017BHTEP6/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1460975644&sr=1-1&keywords=massage+ball) which is great at getting into the tight knots in the pelvic area, but I would def get advice from a professional before using one as I don't know if this could aggravate your condition further. Hope it eases up.

Question - anyone thinking of or getting placenta encapsulation?

I have my first antenatal group tonight which I am really looking forward to, this first one is for the mums only and includes a yoga session, active birth techniques and some hypnobirthing, hope I can stay awake through it all...Monday's are usually early to bed !!

Hope everyone else is well and happy today :)

I have begun decorating DS's new bedroom so we can get him moved and then turn his box room into a nursery for the baby. I hate decorating! But so far I've filled all the holes, taken down the tatty roller blind and stuck the coving back up to the ceiling. Next is tye woodwork sanding which is going to be EPIC. The room has 2 doors and hasn't ever had the layers and layers of gloss paint removed, unfortunately this is miw cracking so needs to come off! I am so tempted to do a really slap dash job as we are planning to extend the house in about 5 years and when we do the ceiling will have to come down in that room, really good decorating feels like a waste of time at the moment!

pickleebot we are doing exactly the same re rooms for DD, I was planning on painting it myself otherwise DH will never get round to it but I just read last night it shouldn't be done when pregnant...are you just going to go for it?

OwlinaTree · 18/04/2016 17:03

I think you will be fine painting a bedroom. Afaik you should avoid exposure to solvents, so if you worked in a paint factory you might have a problem, but painting one well ventilated room should be fine.

We have to swap rooms round too, but I'm not planning on painting the new room, as it's not long been done. Ds is only just 2, so think I'll just put stuff on the walls etc for now, then when he's a bit older we can decorate it properly to his tastes.

lilygirl81 · 18/04/2016 17:34

Hi all, I'm just back from a really lovely weekend. Finally got my spa day with my mum, got an amazing pregnancy massage, would definitely recommend to you all. Then last night DH and I had a night at a really lovely country house hotel, with an amazing dinner.

I'm sorry so many of the babies are going quiet, but glad all seem well.

Fizzy I hope your appointment went well

Is anyone else finding their bump is going rock hard and then softening back up? Mine is doing it all the time and I'm getting a bit paranoid!

Mslg · 18/04/2016 17:49

Lily my bump has been tightening up and releasing, apparently it's it beginning of Braxton hicks.

Fizzy hope your appointment today went well!

plimsolls · 18/04/2016 19:12

Hello all! Lots of news and updates which has been lovely to read. I did write a long post the other day but I lost it and didn't have the heart to write it again!

First fizzy have been thinking of you today. Hope all is well.

Can't remember if this was in the post that I lost or a successful post but just in case - lily so pleased all is still well with your baby. Happy birthday glenncoco.

Sorry for any other updates I've missed and any posters I've missed out.

I think this is a different thing to the BH some of you are experiencing but I've noticed some days/times of day my bump is harder or softer. I think it must be something to do with water retention?

I've transferred to my new hospital now and I'm delighted. The service is run in a way which means you have your "own" midwife so all my appointments with the same one and she'll be there at the birth. I have her mobile to call if I need to (which gets diverted to a named second in command when she's off shift). It's such a difference to my other hospital where there was no continuity at all and the midwives barely bothered to make eye contact. I'm actually looking forward to my appointment this week which is a change! I've not heard back from my diabetes tests which I'm assuming is a good thing.

I've finally moved completely into OH's house (our house, I should say). It was arduous packing and moving. My tenants have moved in and have spent all day being really nasty and aggressively complaining about stuff. I've noticed my pregnancy hormones basically mean I'm pretty much fine and happy all the time, except when anything gets even remotely stressful and then I can't cope and get really tearful. All will look better tomorrow, I know!

Got plenty of decorating to do so advice above about what's safe is really helpful. Thank you.
