22+3 here and haven't felt any movement at all and whilst I was told at 19w scan that placenta was in the way and not to worry, reading about everyone else having movement is a bit off putting.

I'm really struggling at the moment. Sickness never went away and the reflux in the evening is getting worse again. I'm in bed by 6 most nights as shattered and it's the only way to feel better by sleeping it off.

Am on ranitidine and cyclizine, but it's stopped working. Back at GPs this morning. Hoping for more help.

Kstar8 · 15/04/2016 09:50

Hi Cola,
Sorry you are having a rough time still. Hope the GP is helpful this morning. I've seen a lot of people on here saying that omeprazole gave them a lot of relief from reflux/heartburn so there are other things they can offer you.

I am 22+1 and do feel kicks sporadically throughout the day, probably because the placenta is low and at the back. However, even when being scanned, I've seen the baby move lots and not felt a thing at that time.
Calling your midwife/team if you're worried about this would be the best thing to do. They will know more about what is normal for women with placentas in this position and how much it cushions movement.

On an unimportant side note....is anyone else's belly button rapidly disappearing? Mine is so shallow already I'm worried it's going to pop out. This is one of pregnancy's creepier side effects for me. Confused

Chianablue · 15/04/2016 11:58

Kstar8 my belly button is definitely disappearing. Thankfully took my piercing out a while back but I have a funny feeling it's going to look like I have three belly buttons now. I'm only 20+3, so I didn't realise I would be saying goodbye to my bellybutton so soon.
colabottle I only feel movement if the little one really kicks. Otherwise nothing, but I watched him wriggle and stretch on the scan and didn't feel that. Hope the gp visit helps can't be easy with the sickness + reflux.

Has any one had what feels like a pulled muscle on one side of their hips? I've been getting on on and off but this morning it was horrid. Though it is the side the Little one likes to dive down into. So it might be him?

Christinedonna · 15/04/2016 15:19

I reminded my midwife that she still hasn't given me my MATB1 and she sorted it so got it today! I didn't sleep at all last night as my back has been so bad so being one step closer to finishing work is very exciting!

Fizzyboo · 15/04/2016 16:07

So just back from a full day of it. Midwife appointment in the morning, then second crack at the anomaly scan this afternoon as the last one they couldn't get one of the heart measurements.
Well, they still couldn't. She's now scared the shit out of me as she said it could be the babes position, but in the position she was looking she should be able to see it. So she's referring me to a consultant. All other measurements were good. Just told me not to worry over the weekend till I hear from them Confused

Biscuitswithtea · 15/04/2016 16:53

Fizzy try not to worry this now. Baby's hearts are notoriously difficult for them to measure and mostly because bubs can so easily be in a non compliant position. A consultant cardiac scan (I've had two now, one for ds and one for this bump) enables them to look in much closer detail - the equipment they use is more specialised.
AND I say all this as someone who was born with a whopping great hole in my heart. It was undetected for 6wks, I still have it (although it has naturally shrunk some) and will soon be 35! It causes me no issues whatsoever except scares the crap out of the midwife

Biscuitswithtea · 15/04/2016 16:56

Grammar fail. Babies hearts. Obvs!

Fizzyboo · 15/04/2016 18:11

Thanks biscuits, just had the call from the consultant I'm booked in for Monday and they said if they can't find it I'll be referred to London. Just been looking at my notes and it says 3 heart chambers were observed, the 4th not due to position or abnormal fetal cardiac... But obviously this is the 2nd time that's not been able to e observed. Husband did basic Google and said it could just be im a bit lardy... The lady on the phone said don't google it and to be kind to myself, which frankly scared the crap out of me! I don't even know what this could mean if there is an abnormality?

strandedabroad · 15/04/2016 18:30

Hi everyone! Sorry I'm struggling to keep up as been so busy at work. Hello to the new people and Lily, great to hear you're doing well.

Had my midwife appointment this morning. Movements for me have been sporadic and very very subtle so I was a tad worried, but I have an anterior placenta and baby's heart was nice and strong this morning. Even decided to give the midwife a little kick which she felt through the Doppler - I didn't feel a thing!

Going on holiday tomorrow for a week, can't wait. Sun and good food and no work pressures for a week. Probably my last completely chilled holiday ever! I asked the midwife if I can cycle on holiday (yes, with care) and if I can eat seafood (yes to fish and prawns, no to shellfish, as a precaution).

Also I asked if I can do a tour of the hospital/birth centre - she said there's a virtual tour on the website. I shall do that. Apparently as I'm low risk I'll go to the birthing centre first and then can be moved to the labour ward if and when needed. I can only get an epidural if I move out of the birthing centre - all they do there is diamorphine and gas and air. Which might be enough, you never know... But I'd rather not bank on it! Apparently people move between the two units all the time - we'll have to see how it goes!

I can't remember who advised against the Chicco carrier - thanks for that, I will look at alternatives soon :-)

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

23+3

Dileas29 · 15/04/2016 22:45

cola I do hope I didn't frighten you or anyone else with worry about movement, I know how easy it is to get these things in your head once you start reading so sorry if I didn't help there!

fizzy try not to worry as hard as that may be this weekend, hopefully they are just taking extra precautions and your baby will have a thorough check over.

First proper night out with husband for our wedding anniversary so felt good to get dressed up and dress the bump, lots of comments over the past few days about how massive I look in comparison to friends friends who are due in May and June...hard not to take offence but trying to embrace a big bump...!

Christinedonna · 15/04/2016 22:58

Just finishing work after another shit night. Another customer thinking it's okay to comment on the bump. "Ohh any day now then!" With a smirk on his face thinking he was funny. I got absolutely no sleep last night due to my back, it's still killing me and tomorrow's evening shift is with a member of staff that is absolutely shit, disappears on her phone leaving me on the shop floor alone. I might do myself a favour and tell my manager I can't struggle with my back two nights in a row and take the night off

Biscuitswithtea · 15/04/2016 23:02

Fizzy the woman on the phone was right - googling doesn't help. I am guilty of googling all sorts but really you don't have enough fact to go on at the moment. That everything else looks good is really promising. Even if (and that's a big if) something is picked up then it doesn't mean that has to be horribly serious. So please do try and put it to the back of your mind for the weekend x

Christinedonna · 15/04/2016 23:11

You look amazing dileas

SheerWill · 16/04/2016 08:16

dileas you do look stunning. I've had lots of comments on how massive my bump is and lots asking when I'm due. The look on their faces when I say August says it all.

I'm a teacher and had a really lovely relaxing Easter break. Since going back to school I've been battling cankles. I didnt have them while expecting DS so not enjoying seeing my ankles disappearing. Good excuse to put my feet up in the evening though. I've got hubby and ds fetching me things which is fun!

I haven't seen my midwife since before my second scan so looking forward to that on Tuesday. She was a bit worried about my glucose level and I was worried I might end up having to go for the diabetes test. But my blood tests have all come back okay which is reassuring.

I did have an app on my iphone to hear her heart beat which I loved using and even recorded, but some arse pick pocketed it out of my jacket while at a service station on the way down from Liverpool so I've got a crappy £20 Tesco nokia now.

I keep having really vivid dreams. Last night's was about Nan and really upset me. They seem so real.

Fizzyboo · 16/04/2016 13:29

Thank you biscuits & dileas, such awful dreams last night, I rushed out this morning to buy a Doppler to listen to babes as I was also getting worried I hadn't felt as many movements... Spent ages only finding the placenta whooshing, but then like a galloping heard of wild horses, there it was! Followed swiftly by a double kick!
We had a Chinese last night and my fortune cookie said 'Monday is your lucky day, enjoy' so I'm totally going to read that as all will be well... Well trying to anyway... I just wish the consultant could have seen me the same day, not after the bloody weekend

Mslg · 16/04/2016 13:53

Dileas you look fantastic. Another one here with the dreams! I had a dream we had a baby girl last night and everyone hated the name we picked! We haven't told anyone our names purely for that reason, people have a tendency to give their (unwanted) tuppence worth. Then had a dream that DP was eyeing up other women in front of me which I was berating him for 😂 Could have something to do with the fact I was pissed off with him as earlier he had introduced me to a colleague by rubbing my bump and saying 'here's my soon to be son/daughter' before actually doing a proper introduction with names etc Hmm not impressed to be introduced to someone as a vessel and he was swiftly pulled up on it.

24 weeks today, time is flying in! Here's my bumpie from earlier, there's actually a big difference from this one and the 22 week one. Baby either had a growth spurt or the cakes are finally catching up with me Blush

Mslg · 16/04/2016 13:55

And Fizzy, try not to worry. I'm sure it will all be fine and as other people have said they are just taking extra precautions which is really good!

Christinedonna · 16/04/2016 14:02

Here's the belly that usually has a "insult my mum on her size" sticker on it! (And that's currently dancing around from the inside) 23+2

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 16/04/2016 14:39

dileas you look amazing! Where is that dress from if you don't mind me asking?

hgleslie89 · 16/04/2016 14:51

25 weeks today and enjoying a weekend in Cornwall with DH as our last pre-baby break. Had a dream last night about giving birth (not the first one I've had) but this was the first time I'd dreamed the gender. Woke up convinced we're having a girl, maybe my subconscious is tuned in to something?

Not been feeling so many kicks recently, but whenever I start to get really worried the little one moves. It's taken to stamping on my cervix, which is such an odd feeling!

PickleBot · 16/04/2016 14:53

Okay TMI here, but anyone else with really smelly discharge? Doesn't smell bad, but definitely quite pungent!

OP posts:
SheerWill · 16/04/2016 16:04

hgleslie89 Babymoon in Cornwall sounds amazing. I love being down on the Cornish coast - so I'm very jealous.

PickleBot don't worry about TMI here, we're soon going to be revealing all to the world so we can all wave goodbye to any dignity we once had. I have a definite increase in the amount being produced downstairs, but I can't say I've noticed a difference in the smell. Although I only think it's of concern if the smell is bad, so I'm sure everything's fine.

Fizzy I'm glad you were able to to hear those galloping sounds and got a reassuring kick to go with it.

Christinedonna that bump looks fab. Apparently the uterus is about the size of a football at 23/4 weeks so that's reassured me that I've not become a weeble.

Christinedonna · 16/04/2016 16:14

Thank you, still getting used to the stretch marks.
Again I have another worry about birth, well not the birth, I haven't actually worried about that once..just silly little things that follow. Those who have done it before may have some pearls of wisdom but how does everyone feel about having the baby cleaned or not before it being handed to them. I've always always had the plan of, that last little pull to get the baby out being done by me, so I will be the first person to hold her (not for that reason, it just really appeals to me!) but I don't really want to be covered in everything that comes with it!

SheerWill · 16/04/2016 16:33

Christinedonna when I had my ds it was in hospital and he was handed to me straight away. I think it's a lovely idea to want to handle your baby as it's delivered but I guess it depends on which position you're in when you deliver. I was able to move around the room and change position through most of my labour but was on my back for the final pushing stage - which I hated. I don't think he was 'cleaned' until I took him home and I waited a while even then as baby skin in so sensitive and apart from nappy changes, they don't really need it.

This time I'm planning on a waterbirth where I should be a bit more supported in the water and able to do this. I'd like to have dd with me from the moment she's born. I've actually made a point on my birth plan of wanting to delay the chord from being clamped as long as possible, which can be longer in water as the chord reacts to the oxygen in the air and this causes it to stop pulsing quicker. I want to have as little intervention as possible. I taught myself a bit of hypno-birthing last time which I found made the process a lot more relaxing, stress free and positive. I want to go even further this time which is why I wanted to be in the maternity centre rather than hospital ward.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 16/04/2016 16:40

Dileas you look great!! It's always nice to get dressed up I think, you're so pretty too!
mslg and Christine lovely bumps too Smile
Cola sorry to hear you're still suffering, hope your appt went well.
Chiana yes I get that pulled muscle feeling in my hips and in lower belly too! Think it's just standard pregnancy aches and pains, lots of things stretching and moving down there.
Fizzy hope you're not stressing too much - it's impossible not to I know but it's still completely possible that bubs is just being a cheeky one! And at least they're checking thoroughly so even if something is up, you can get a good plan in place and be ready when little one arrives.
Christine re birth gunk - in my experience you honestly, truly give no fucks about that stuff! In the same way that you think your baby is the most beautiful child in the world, despite all evidence to the contrary, you won't care if they're a bit bloody, you'll just be pleased to see & meet them!

Anyone thinking of doing a first aid course, I think it's a good plan - I've done lots of paediatric & adult basic first aid courses, for various reasons, and even though I'll probably never use any of it, I feel more reassured just having that bit if knowledge.
It's my birthday today - celebrated in style by having a proper barney with DH and then sobbing uncontrollably for ages! First pregnancy meltdown, with customary excellent timing Grin we made up though and are heading out for dinner shortly with my mum babysitting DD - not been out without the littlun for ages, really looking forward to it!
