Happy Birthday Runnyhabbit! Hope you were spoilt!

I think someone else asked if anyone was experiencing cramps? I certainly am - baxton hicks I expect although it seems early. I had them quite frequently last time and I am wondering if they get stronger with each pregnancy?

I am also with the do what you need to do while you have the energy mindset. Towards the end not only are you so tired only the basics get done but if like me you have to squeeze into small spaces to get things out of storage it just gets harder and harder!

Peneloperabbit - don't worry about the anxiety and paranoia as time progresses you just become more and more consumed about pregnancy and giving birth and the baby's health that it dominates all your thoughts. I can't even sit and watch a movie anymore my mind just drifts away into labourland!!!

Better go - we have timed sessions on the computer - well me and the kids do as they want to get back into penguin club - driving me mad - roll on school tomorrow!!!

opinionsrus · 07/01/2007 16:29

BBCK and SOSPL - hi.And to anyone else with overactivge 2-5 yr olds! He has been going to nursery for last 2 1/2 years while I have been working.

I backed out of work and started maternity early - just b4 xmas - using a few days hol too. I could start it officially on Jan 16th and am due on April 10th. Leaving work early was the best thing I did, it just makes everything even harder when you have to work aswell.

Anyway as I am home now I just cannot "justify" the £170 month it costs to send him to nursery for 2 mornings a week so he'll be finshing there in a couple of weeks. Is yours a nursery (paid) or pre-school/nursery out of interest?? Thats 12 prams a year!!!

To cut a long story short anyway he is now at home with me and we go to a playgroup instead. I think I am so knackered cos I have not been drinking enough apart from tea and coffee to keep me awake - dehydrated!

Hes at the stage now though where he will actually SIT and watch a program.dvd and cards is his fave so we usually end up watching that 3 or 4 times in a row. I have given up on the guilt trips now. I'vr started to give him omega 3 too and its unbelievable the difference it makes to his bevaviour, everyone should try it if you haven't already, lasts for ages aswell, you can just slip it into their drink and mix it up though it smells and tastes rank.

For all of you worried about food poisoning.

Well I ACTUALLY did have food poisoning. Again to cut a long story short I was down in Norfolk and had some undercooked scampi on the beach early on in the preg, arounf Sept time. The next day I was really really sick and my mum had severe diarhhea - not spelt that way probably. Anyway I did not put 2 and 2 together. A week later I had high fever, and severe vomiting which lasted about 5 days. During this time I did not eat and kept nothing down. I ended up in hospital about to be put on drip and given phenergan sickness tablets for the sickness and to stop me from vomiting. At the time I just thought it was a virus thing that was going round but now that I have looked it up it seems like I had all the syptoms of food poisoning. I'd like to add that I did not choose to get scampi but my mum just turned up with it as a "really special treat". Great.

God this is the longest I have ever posted so if you're still with me then thanks!

The outcome is, is that I have spoken to the ward today and they have said that as long as you have had all the normal scans etc and everything is fine then theres nothing to worry about. If the baby stops moving or growing that is when there can be an issue. It is so easy to get yourself worked up during pregnancy, that is why I hate it all so much. Just a constant worry that you have done sth wrong.

On a happy note - have a great week everyone and to those of you still working you are a lot tougher than me I jacked it all in weeks ago!!!

opinionsrus · 07/01/2007 16:32

So many typos sorry!

flumppootle · 07/01/2007 16:54

Arf Arf at 12 prams a year I liked that opinions.
I also have a 2.5 year ds who loves the cars dvd. I must admit that I have felt alot more tired this time and cant wait for the dds to go back to school tomorrow. I adore them but they do wear me out. It is sooooo peaceful around here when it is just me and ds.....bliss. I started taking Pregnacare again to try and boost my iron levels and do actully feel a bit better, have managed not fall asleep on the sofa at night for at least a week
PR hope that you are feeling reassured about things, I phone my mw when things are really worrying me (even fourth time round there are things that I can't not ask her advice on)

opinionsrus · 07/01/2007 16:54

Have just been reading some of the "due right now" threads dec/jan god I'm crapping it.

If you don't want to remind yourself don't look.

Eddas · 07/01/2007 16:56

I am so pissed off today, not too sure why. Just having a day where eventually something small is gonna set me off crying?! Earlier on I would have had a massive moan at dh about a bloody dustpan . Hs lucky as his brother was here so it saved him!!!!! It's always something small and dh ends up wondering what the hells going on, anyone else get like that? Think I may be a little hormonal
It's always somthing small and dh ends up wondering what the hells going on, anyone else get like that? Think actually I may be tired. DD got bad chesty cough and has been waking at night and getting up early and for some reason although dh is a lighter sleeper than me(I could sleep through anything) I always get up to her ? Got to the point this morning where I said do you want to sort her out this time?!!?

flumppootle · 07/01/2007 16:56

Opinions, I made the mistake of watching ER last night and have spent most of today crying my eyes out
Now that its Jan it seems that bit closer doesn't it?

flumppootle · 07/01/2007 16:59

just x posted eddas - very hormonal here too, just cant help myself but good to know that we are not alone

1becomes3 · 07/01/2007 17:01

Happy birthday runny

Is it just me or has anyone else not seen or heard from their MW since booking?

I did see my consultant at 15 weeks but no other app in between then and 26 weeks?

Just seems like a long time, especially as I am high risk, have high blood pressure and had a threatned MC at the beginning of this pg.

Eddas · 07/01/2007 17:01

Thanks fp, Don't normally like to moan, although dh may disgree but really need reassurance today that i am not going mad, well maybe only a little

flumppootle · 07/01/2007 17:06

Grrr.. dh just hijacked the pc is now rolling around on the floor at the Tropical Rainforest in the thread title
1b3 it does seem like a long time, my appointments were made around the scan dates aswell which were in place of the mw appiontments, does that make sense?

peneloperabbit · 07/01/2007 17:08

Hello ladies,

You have all been shiny stars and said all the right calming things so thank you. Am feeling a bit more in control now and will soon be able to resume normal state (drifting around smiling in daft fashion).

Opinionsrus your poisonning incident sounds rub! I can think of far better special treats than poohing and vomming. Hope you are feeling better. Funnily enough, i only just read your name correctly. Until now i thougt you were called opusonion. Not sure where that came from!

On the braxton hicks front, i only get them when i orgasm! Didn't know what it was at first, felt this funny tightening and bump went v. hard - then read somewhere that it's quite a common thing to happen!

Am going back to work tomorrow after blissful 3 weeks off. Am absoutely dreading it as i work in Staffordshire during the week and stay there tues to fri. Have got a bit too used to comfy life here with dp, rabbit and guineapigs! Oh well, not long till maternity leave - can't wait!!!

opinionsrus · 07/01/2007 17:08

Yeh I'm gonna start making an active "mental" preparation for the birth. I can do it, i can do it.....

SOMEONE TELL ME ITS EASIER THE SECOND TIME AROUND PLEASE!

PLEASE? Even if you have to make it up!

flumppootle · 07/01/2007 17:09

Meant to sat Ladytropicalrainforest but cant concentrate from the shouts of laughter from dh... have just sent him back to sofa away from the pc

weeonion · 07/01/2007 17:12

happy birthday runny - hope you had a nice one.

someone said that as its now january - we seem that bit closer. yep - it really is just around the corner for us. eek.

had a strange thing happen to my tum last night. hte bump had been quite high and hard for about a week and suddenly last night - it was as if the bump had gone completly. my tum is all soft. now rationally i know she cant have got out but honestly - dp and i are shocked at my tum. got worked up into complete state about it. tum still the same but trying to be calmer about it....

hope you all had a lovely sunday - the weekends really do go far too quickly - only about 12 left til we are due???????

peneloperabbit · 07/01/2007 17:15

1b3

I've got my notes here and - I have seen my mw at:

1st contact
10-13wks for booking
16wks
then had u/s at 20
25wks

Next appointments are booked in for:

28wks
31wks
34wks
36wks
38wks

There's also a drop in 3 days a week at my local surgery so have seen her in between (mainly so i can go and have a listen with the doppler thing)

flumppootle · 07/01/2007 17:16

Has the baby changed its postion weeonion ?
Bumps do change shape depending on where the baby is. When dd2 was transverse my bump stuck out horribly but then it went down when she put her head down.

peneloperabbit · 07/01/2007 17:22

Weeonion,

Mine changes size and shape quite a lot too. It's cos they're moving around like good active babies should. You might feel movements differently as a result. Sometimes i feel lots out front, sometimes right up by ribs, a couple of times really really low, like only just above ladytropical rainforest. Then when it turns inwards and bump changes i feel it kicking bits like bladder and other inside bits - feels really odd.

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 07/01/2007 17:56

1b3 - they do tend to miss out the monthly midwife appointment when your scan is due as if all is okay with the scan they are happy not to see you. You should have another appointment by now - give them a call - think with twins you should be fortnightly by now.

I went at 12, 16, 20 (scan), 24 - next 28, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40..... Have a double appointment at 28 weeks for GTT and again at 36 weeks for birth plan (guffaw!)

Weeonion - same with me - thought he had done a runner! Think it is when they are facing the front - back to back as such (don't panic about that yet either lol). Then I think ooh maybe he's topped growing or something but I know I had a growth spurt in december and suddenly looked huge - now just got used to it and tbh if continued to grow at that rate may not fit out the door! I have loads of kicking at the moment so not worried. Would like him to come back round with back to tummy so can feel how big he is

Opinionsrus - you should be eligible for your nursery vouchers soon whether they attend pre-school, nursery or whatever they call it near you - thats 5 free sessions a week. I use up mine on the days I work and one other morning pay for an extra session which works out at £7.25 a week - so he does two mronings and two full days... was thinking about putting him in an extra morning but like you say, it can really add up even with vouchers. When I go on maternity leave I will keep his hours the same as he goes to school in September and could do with getting used to the extra hours - although think all will be forgotten after 6 weeks summer hols! And for me now - its such as short time til he does go to school am happy to pay a bit for some time to myself and then time with the baby.

By the way - the paranoia doesn't get any better the more children you have...no comments on labour as have only had one natural delivery - and yes am hoping this one will hurt less!

opinionsrus · 07/01/2007 18:39

BBCK - I don't understand these vouchers at all. Does that mean that they can be used anywhere and does everyone get them?

I sort of asked about this and they did not mention it?

liath · 07/01/2007 18:48

Gawd I'm knackered, dd has been dropping her daytime nap again. At least she goes to bed earlier when she does it.

at everyone scaring themselves on the Jan thread. My sister is on that thread and getting thoroughly fed up with being pg! I don't tend to read it though as it feels a bit like I'd be spying on her if I did.

Dd goes to nursery for a full day when I'm at work and two additional afternoons. It's been a real lifesaver havignthat free time as she's pretty high maintainence & I'd never get the ironing etc done otherwise. Think I'll keep her in for 3 half days once I'm on mat leave if finances allow.

Eddas, I had a horrible weepy emotional few days last week. I decided it was all the pent-up emotion after the festive season & marathon MIL stay! Decided not to watch ER as I knew I'd cry.

opinionsrus · 07/01/2007 18:53

If anyone could find a link about nurseries?

Am gonna def find out about it b4 I hand in his proper notice.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 07/01/2007 18:59

Hi ya loves. It has been busy on here today. Read everything and now cannot remember a thing!
Weeonion, I hope you have been re-assured. It purely is baby changing position. I have often had slight frights, but as long as I can still feel movement then all ok. Listened in with the doppler today and dd had a go too. The smile on her face was brilliant!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. It has flown by. I am knackered. Dd and I had a cuddle on the sofa for 20 mins before her tea and I nodded off!

Has anyone else become really clumsy? I keep dropping things which is a bloody pain, as trying to get down to pick stuff up and back up again is a challenge. Also keep bumping in to things! I am sure it it hormones, as I am like this before period due normally.

Opinionsrus, dd is at a private nursery which has a pre-school upstairs. She just transferred up there at 3 years. It is expensive, but the government vouchers help a bit. I will keep it going while I am on mat leave so I can have some quality time with the baby, and also she LOVES it. When I go to collect her, she takes off her shoes to delay going home. I think she would move in if she could.

Anyway, bath time for dd, so had better head. See you later. xx

opinionsrus · 07/01/2007 19:10

The thing is I have told them that he will be leaving as I am at home, they said that i needed to put it in writing.

I have not put it in writing so does that mean I am "allowed" to keep him there???
