OK, so I have the positive pregnancy testS! - we have told one person, are agonising about who else to tell when, we have bought two books on pregnancy.

But what happens next? Do I just phone the doctor tommorow to make an appointment, should I wait a couple of weeks? Then what happens?

Total newbie to this, no idea what I am doing at all!

Goodluck tomorrow Edie. I'll be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts. Let us know how it goes.

Chattyhan · 18/01/2007 13:55

Thanks EdieMcredie i'll come over and have a chat later just sorting out lunch for the little ones!

EdieMcredie · 18/01/2007 14:26

Chattyhan

There are lots of us in a similar position, pg after mc is very very hard. There is a thread called pg after mc part4, come and join us. Im sure you will find lots of help and advice on here from people that have been through similar.

I had a missed mc last year and am now terrified that it will happen again. Im having weekly scans becasue of some pain ive been having and the last one (my first, at 5 weeks) was too early to see a yolk so im terrified about tomorrow's.

Good luck and will chat soon xxxxxxxx

EdieMcredie · 18/01/2007 14:27

Sorry pc is misbehaving!!

kinki · 18/01/2007 14:49

Hey auschick, just because I'm old, doesn't mean to say I'm mature as well. Quite the opposite in fact! Anyway, I'm glad I'm not totally alone. Good luck to Chatty and Edie over the next few days/weeks. Thinking of you.

Flossam · 18/01/2007 16:56

HI all, I went to EPU today after talking to GP about my anxieties. Not brilliant news, fetal pole was only 2 mm, small for 6+1, apparently should be 3/4mms. No heartbeat seen. There is a decent sized sac and yold, have to go back in a week but feeling v v down. DP was a complete arse this morning as well, refused to come with us, so I had to houlk DS on and off buses and up and incredibly steep hill. Next scan friday morning and he says he will come to that one.

Oh no Flossam, I don't know what to say. May be good news next time you get scanned? I was looking at an old pg after mc thread earlier-from '05 and there are loads of stories on there of unpromising scans that turn out well. Don't give up hope but you know your own body.

Im not holding out much hope for tomorrow...it's just a feeling.

So sorry honey xxx

Flossam · 18/01/2007 17:36

Hello FioFio - was it you who name changed last week then? Congratulations.

Sorry you are so worried Edie. I really hope it all goes ok for you tomorrow.

I don't know if I do know my own body. I'm emotional, tired, not sleeping at night and feeling nauseaus. My boobs are slightly sore, my nipples more so. I've got more cramps again though. On a good point I think the bleeding would have been before the embryo got to the stage it is at now. On a bad point when I rub my tummmy it doesn't feel as 'nice' as it once did. >>>Nutter alert!!!

Generally I think they are yes. I'm in the position now, where tbh everything is pretty much as it was with DS, but following M/c I've been worrying a lot. So I went to Gp's and now I find myself here. I wish I hadn't gone. I seriously do. At least that way when I started to worry I could tell myself that everything was most probably fine.

Congratulations and welcome TOD.

fiofio, I am utterly paranoid too, every time I get period pains I am sure there is some disaster lurking and when I don't get them I feel like my symptoms have disappeared so another disaster is lurking. My poor body can't win! Kind of wish I could fast forward to the 12 week scan to get some reassurance.....

flossam, good luck for next week, hope you get good news and your DP is more gentlemanly this time

Flossam · 18/01/2007 19:56

Thank you CM. I know exactly what you mean. ATM I enjoy feeling sick. FWIW he has apologised and plans to stay up all day after his night shift to attend next time. He was hungover - and thought I was over reacting about it all - erm, despite being the person to encourage me to make the appointment with the GP. Anyhow, he is now out shopping and getting supper and I don't plan to do bugger all all weekend.

Norfolkbumpkin · 18/01/2007 20:06

Very excited, got my letter from the Hospital today confirming my appointment for the first scan. Seems a bit more real now. I am a little surprised by the date 'though. I will be exactly 10 weeks and I assumed the first scan was normally at around 12 weeks. Is this standard? I'm clueless about these things as it's my first pg.

AnguaVonUberwald · 18/01/2007 23:35

all, you have posted about cramping how bad is it? I have now had three evenings in a row of really bad cramping, its really worrying me. Should I panic or is this normal?

Please help.

Welcome to all the lovely new ladies

Flossam, please try not get too down; it is still very early days and like Edie I've also read many cases of women who had successful pregnancies after similar scan results.

Edie, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, hope it goes well.

Chattyhan I hope you're feeling better soon too.

Norfolkbumpkin, I believe they can do a nuchal translucency scan between 10-13 weeks. So you're just gettin in early, lucky you. Somebody (also pregnant) actually told me recently that you have to pay for this - surely that's not true though is it? I've heard of paying for the photos from the scan, but not the scan itself...?

Angua, I've been having looser (* cough *) movements, although I wouldn't class it as explosive or anything! LOL sorry for the TMI. Been eating lots of fibre as I always do, so I can only account it to the pregnancy. Still getting the cramps as well, I'm in my 5th week and luckily no ms yet. I did read on one of the other threads that someone found they were ok with their ms until they stopped taking their Pregnacare vitamin supplements, so I guess anyone who is having a hard time with ms could try that. I've been taking Pregnacare since early Dec and although I've felt queasy one or two times, it passed pretty quickly. They say ms usually doesn't hit hard until week 6 (or later) though, so perhaps it's just too early yet. We shall see! Just for interest's sake, I was actually originally just taking 800 microgram folic acid tablets, but they gave me migranes (tried twice with it) so I had to stop. Funny thing is though, they say folic acid is supposed to help with migranes?! Luckily I don't seem to have any trouble with the 400 micrograms (which is the recommended daily amount anyway) so all is ok now.

SheRaPOP · 19/01/2007 00:16

Angua, how painful is your cramping? Is it specific to one area, or all over? My cramping feels a bit like period pain, but I'd say it's not quite as strong as my period pain. It's also in different places all the time. If you are worried perhaps you should just call your doctor or go to the EPU if you want a scan for reassurance? St George's has a walk in clinic for this. Maybe ask Nettee what she thinks, as she's a midwife. Hope you're feeling better soon.
