twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 08:36

Oops, JonahB - I'm sorry, that sounded awful what I said in my post, because you thought the same as me! Gosh, I hope you don't think I was being narky.

I'm not doing very well these last couple of days; constantly putting my foot in it.

Hope you're not cross with me?

largeginandtonic · 05/01/2007 09:28

12 weeks your getting soppy on me! I didnt mind about the name teasing, or you Jonahb! Rigsby, was he the really old one or the slightly younger v tall one? A bit before my time that.....heee, heeee

Nice to hear you are glammed up and off for coffee, have one for me. I have not been out for a nice coffee in ages, i loved the costa tiramisu coffee they did before xmas. Wander if it's still on?

I am in tracky bottoms today with a hoodie and my hair tied back with my pink ugg boots on...i look about 14 All the drinking from a young age has preserved me....HA!

FSF glad your chilli was nice, fromage frais Wander if sour cream will post?!I love ikea, if you havent left yet tell me if they have any baby change tables in. I just want a very basic pine/white one. Ive never had one but my back always plays up and dh has said why dont you get one. My ex refused to but anything new for the others as he said if i managed without it before i can again... Have some meatballs, they are sooo scrummy.

I am going to sort out my wardrobe today, no point having 90% of it in there it does not fit and is kinda like torture every time i go to get dressesd in the morning.

Im also going to change the beds and straighten my hair...dh is home tonight till sunday.....

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 10:20

Cow, looking so young.

Rigsby is Leonard Rossiter. The skinny one. Before my time too, but my mum used to watch the re-runs.

Be careful with the wardrobe sorting. I felt a bit deflated when I went down from about a metre and a half of hanging space to about 15cm. I'm not kidding. I'm always in the shops so had tons of clothes and choice and went down to two pairs of trousers and 5 tops. I was miserable for days! How shallow I am!

Really pleased for you that DH is home this weekend. x

Bensonbluebird · 05/01/2007 10:52

Hello all and Happy New Year,

I haven't posted all weeks becuase I've been totally overwhelmed by the volume of posts! Can't keep up, I'm a lightweight.

I'm liking all these names. When I was prego with DS we had endless name discussions and top ten lists and this time we decided after one quick chat. Poor second child, neglected already. To make matters worse, if this is a DD we are going to use the same name as we had picked for DS (I feel bad about this as I was miffed when my mum told me that they had called me what I would have called my big brother). Julia Bluebell, it was DP's great grandmother's name. with Geri Halliwell for tainting the name. If it is a DS it will be Sorley, a gaelic name meaning summer walker. Haven't thought of a middle name yet, maybe Alden?

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 12:09

Nice to hear from you Benson! Your baby isn't neglected, you just already know what you like.

largeginandtonic · 05/01/2007 12:38

Im back....am not happy. You were right 12weeks, i tried on some stuff too...HUGE...BIG mistake. My fat jeans from a year and a bit ago i could only just do up!!! They are low slung so i thought brill they will fit in prg as i can be hip and trendy and wear them under my bump...HA! I have nothing left...life is pointless....am dipping cheese sticks in to a slimasoup to chear myself up

Not really sure thats the idea of a slima soup.

Nice to hear from you Benson, your names sound lovely! I loved Tallulah for ages but every bloody naff celebrity called their baby it...soooo frustrating, not that i ever have girls anyway It is damn near impossible to keep up unless you are on here every day, i lost it at xmas!

How was your coffee? Did you slurp some and think of me? I had very strong coffee vibes about 10ish!

JonahB · 05/01/2007 12:52

Twelveweeks ? didn?t even occur to me that you may have offended me!! Promise! Think our overactive hormones are making us all worry too much . Lols at having 15cm of clothes. That?s so funny, I know what you mean. On the plus side, it makes choosing what to wear each day (when I finally remove my fleece/jogging bottoms) so much easier.

French, while you?re in Ikea, can you save me a visit and buy me some shelves for my study and DS1?s bedroom? I?d be ever so grateful?

Was Rising Damp really before your times? G-d, I am so old. Maybe I know it so well as my DH is a big fan and has made me watch old episodes too much

LG&T, sorry you?re feeling low re clothes fitting. My best advice is don?t try. I can?t fit into any of my non-maternity clothes now. The one pair of trousers I can still do up, well, let?s just say, it?s not a good look.

My good news today is that I?m HALF-WAY THERE!!!!!! HURRAH!!!!! Last 20 weeks will fly by!!!!!!!! I?m not counting days till I?m on leave, I?m counting down days till I can drink a can of beer with impunity, sad alcoholic that I am?..

Bensonbluebird · 05/01/2007 12:54

Tallulah! that's great do your kids read Maisy books?

I think I must be right where you are at with clothes - I have two pairs of trousers that are normally massive, but if I wear maternity clothes they just fall down. I'd forgotton how anoying this is. Tempted to go and get some braces but fear looking like tweedledum

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 12:59

Coffee vibes were delayed due to distance I think. I was slurping before 8am!

I'm awfully teary and hormonal again. Doh. I'm not very busy at work so that's not helping as I'm monging on MN and email and wallowing. Plus, my friend just pointed out that it was a full moon on Weds. I'm sure it affects me.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 13:05

Benson, have you tried the kind of trousers they do in H&M which fit under-the-bump, but they have stretchy stuff which goes over the bump? I've been wearing them since way before I needed maternity clothes as they were so comfy. They fit snugly on the hips and stretch as needed for belly.

Only just started wearing the other kind of trousers before Christmas - the ones with the adjustable elastic waistband type thingy.

The half way mark is so great isnt' it JonahB? A real milestone. And glad we're still friends.

Gingerbear · 05/01/2007 13:11

I had my anomaly scan this morning. Everything looks fine. Consultant wants to see me again and another scan at 30 weeks to check on growth. Due to my extreme age, apparently, the blood supply to the placenta may not be as good as it should be and this could affect growth.
I really love sitting in an antenatal waiting area for 2 hrs

Bensonbluebird · 05/01/2007 13:13

I've seen those trousers and think they look really comfy - but they never have any in my size round here. Must find out when they get new stock in.

Bensonbluebird · 05/01/2007 13:18

Did you find out the flavour Ginger?

largeginandtonic · 05/01/2007 13:30

12weeks i think you should come n stay with me, bring dd, she can sort the nightmare loutish (at 8!!) twins and we can eat sweeties and drink coffee. We live on the beach too so lovely walks. We could snivel together, although am feeling a little better after reading evryone elses posts about prg clothes and not non fitting of pre prg clothes!

H&M jeans are fab...i have 2 pairs and live in them, the size small i got in november are a bit small now though so i have moved up to a medium! Hey ho....

Jonah i cant wait for a proper drink, as my name suggests i am mostly made up of gin and tonic!!

Congrats on your scan gingerbear, i hate the waiting too. At least you went to the right hospital...

ShowOfHands · 05/01/2007 13:49

There was me thinking I'm special and it turns out LG&T invites everybody over!

I reckon me and twelve should head over at the same time, have a mini-meetup! Although you'll have to leave all the poo/snot/earwax stuff out because I'm also a bit funny about bodily fluids (goodness knows how I'll cope with labour). The porn I can just about handle, but secretions

Got a trapped nerve in my back today, used to have trouble with it before pregnancy and it's flared up again. Feeling very fragile! Found a great site that has patterns for making your own slings today so I think I might have a go this weekend. Poor baby, subjected to its mother's craft obsessions. Currently knitting a teddybear (sounds hideous I know, but it's not!).

Any news on missing May07ers? They can't possibly have lives outside of MN can they?

OP posts:
twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 13:51

Aaah, my medium H&M jeans are snug! So much so that I don't wear them if I have to drive very far. Hehehe.

Would love to come and see you! You know I definitely will, as soon as I go on maternity leave. (And hopefully before I'm too fat to fit behind the wheel...) And DD is very good at keeping other kids in line. I'm sure I've mentioned my friend likes to have her over to boss her boys around?

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 13:53

X-posts SOH! That's a great idea. My nana knitted a rabbit for DD. It's lovely, so it doesn't sound hideous at all. You must be clever with the needles though. I can barely manage a scarf!

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 13:58

BTW, incy, who is due in May just posted on another thread I'm on. She told me before it's too hard to keep up with us!

largeginandtonic · 05/01/2007 13:59

i was banking on her help 12weeks SOH i did think you could travel together, we could drink alcohol free beer... Perhaps not...

My small jeans are like that 12weeks, if i know im gonna be sat down for a while i dont wear them, they cut in to your bump dont they.

Promise not to mention bodily fluids SOH!

I have to do the bloody school run in 45 mins and it's raining. Why oh why does it do that when i have straightened my hair? Grrrrrr

Hugs is making his aqua draw thomas 'eat' his breadstick...he is saying "eat it, mmmm, mmmmmmmmm" LOL

Gingerbear · 05/01/2007 14:08

LG&T what did I miss - you turned up at the wrong place? I will never forget how gutted I was when my driving instructor took me to the wrong test centre for my driving test. It was too late to get to the right one, and I had to wait another 4 weeks for a test date.
Didn't want to know the sex when I had the scan. I like suprises

Creena · 05/01/2007 14:15

Hullo everyone. Congrats to all with lovely scan news! Can't wait to have mine next week. Those scan pictures are wonderful, too. I might have a go at uploading mine next week, hopefully (although I can be technologically challenged at times).

LG&T - seriously, don't worry about the clothes thing. I haven't been able to fit into any of my 'fat' pre-pregnancy clothes in ages and gave up trying to some time ago. Think of it as an excuse to get out there and buy some new stuff - that's what I do! The online sales at Picchu and Crave are really good. I'm not normally a dress wearer but there's a lovely one on Picchu that you can get in red or charcoal, which comes with a black ribbon belt tie thing. It was so nice I decided to give dresses a go. I'm now starting to think that it would be a shame not to try and pop one more baby out after this one while I still can.....all these maternity clothes will go to waste otherwise....

Talking about jeans and the like, does anyone else find it a challenge to find trousers at the correct length for their legs? I find that the regular length trousers always leave me with several feet of material trailing over the floor that I'd have to wear 6 inch heels with in order to walk (or stagger, more like). If I try petite or short length, I look like I've been raiding Norman Wisdom's wardrobe. I mean, I'm 5' 5" so fairly average height (maybe a little on the short-arsed side). Maybe I have freakishly mis-shapen legs or something. Maternity trousers are the same. So far, I have two pairs to get taken up (I'm rubbish at stuff like that so will have to pay a dressmaker to do it) and another pair that I gave to my also pregnant but tall and willowy-framed, long limbed friend.

Maybe I should develop a liking for dresses full time (although, if I have got freaky legs, they'll be on display a lot more)!!!

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 14:17

Gingerbear, I would have bawled if that happened to me. All the stress building up to it and then it not happening.

Mind you, I did 5 driving tests, so I know all about them!

LupinsBigLump · 05/01/2007 14:19

Hello Ladies, glad ev1 is well today, apart from SOH's back hope its better soon

Just got back from town, dd decided we were hungry and had to do an emergancy lunch stop - had yummy soup and rolls then a trip to thorntons even yummier, tho am still fighting my way through huge bag from Hotel Chocolat from Xmas - I will win , then we went to krazy kids - I hate those places but its raining and dd was obviously needing to unfizz

I have a soooo cumfy pair of trousers from Next really elasticatic and stretchy, however I also have combats and jeans both under bump and I find them really uncomfy - might bung them on ebay, they just fall down - bum is baggy (not blessed with a big one lol), have to wear a belt then that digs in when i sit down grrrrrr, there is no way on earth i can get in any pre preg clothes - havent been able to from 9 wks lol

Bought some larger sized pj's and knickers from Primark today, cant justify the price of proper maternity ones at the mo and these will do fine for now - my size 8/10 bottoms are digging in a bit too much now

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 05/01/2007 14:25

Dresses are more comfy anyway! No waistband to dig in. I'm wearing regular length trews from Dorothy Perkins and they're quite long on me. I'm 5ft 3...

FYI, petite and short ranges are almost always for 5ft 3 and below, though I occasionaly find them too short even for me.

Some companies, like Zara for-ex-bloody-sample, the swines, seem to make their "regular" clothes for people MKG's height. (6ft!)

See if you can find out hte inside leg length. I am 29 to 30 inside leg, hence "regular" lengths of 31 can be a bit long. I expect you'd be around a 30 to 31 inch inside leg?

However; "Short" with some places is a 27inch leg, whereas in others it's 29.

It's not you - it's the fact that the manufacturers can't decide on a standard.

MKG · 05/01/2007 14:36

Hey everyone!!

I'm back on TV on Tuesday! Dh came home and apologized last night. He said that I'm a really good wife and I almost never do things for myself, and that I should go with my friend (as long as I don't make a habit out of it). He said that in Mexico women don't leave their kids behind and go do something on their own. So the idea is a little strange to him. He also said that I can't tell his family because then they'll wonder "Who wears the pants in the family". I simply told him to respond with, "Who washes the pants you wear, if it weren't for me, you wouldn't have pants".

I'm super excited for next week, and I'm glad I'm going away on Tuesday, because waiting for the scan is killing me. 5 more days to go.
