Hi new year, new thread!

no red hair here either but there are redheads back in my family so we shall see. Suzi I am half expecting JL to send me away when I ask for a fitting but thought I might try as I'm in London town. Other wise has anyone tried House of Fraser for bra fitting.

suzi2 · 08/01/2007 20:40

Peachy - you could always see if they sold something that is more like the bravado bras - a crop top that fits quite a few sizes. That way it wouldn't really matter how far on you were.

peachygirl · 08/01/2007 20:48

Thats a good idea, I will ask. I can go in again when my maternity leave starts but I though.. while I'm there...

thelittlestboho · 08/01/2007 21:59

Well I'm Scottish so red-hair may apear at random, lol

Coriander73 · 08/01/2007 22:35

Hey Peachy! I'm keeping an eye on you...can't believe your nearly up!! Jack's 16 weeks already!!! xx

12yeargap · 09/01/2007 07:42

My DS is a gorgeous redhead (he hates it), and this next one could be, but there's no chance I'd want to be filmed!

julezboo · 09/01/2007 10:13

Congratulation plumpbump (sorry Im a bit late we are having internet probs at the moment!

Glad everyone else seems to be going well! Not long now!

My growth scan last week wasnt so great, hes still huge, GTT test came back abnormal, back in tomorrow for another!

My fluid levels are dropping around the baby too, so if they are any lower tomorrow they are gonna deliver! Bag is packed thankfully! He still has no bedroom though but luckily we have everything else!

julezboo · 09/01/2007 10:14

oh Due date is 19th feb!

snugglebumnappies · 09/01/2007 10:21

qsack, hope everything goes ok if you do have bile acids done there is sometimes a long turnaround time on them as only certain units process these blood, we used to send ours from Manchester to Birmingham so results took a while to get back. It is unusual to do a liver function test and cholesterol at 34 weeks, were you complaining of any symptoms such as itching or raised BP?

DCMY, I thin that the inflatable pools that The Good Birth Company are pob the best single use pool you can get, I am not sure what their return policy is if you don't open the box but unused ones seem to have an ok re sale price on eBay so it may be worth buying one. If DP wants to get in aswell then I would prob go for the larger of the two, the last thing you want is to be crammed in the corner!

DS is also redheaded, dad had black hair and I have brown, however I was adopted so it wasn't too much of a shock as I had none else to genetically compare hime to. I can think pf more important things to be filmed for than showing red hair is a recesive gene!!

Good to here some of these breech babies are turning now, my stubborn one isn't up for it yet, am 34 weeks on Mon so will start the Moxa and homeopathy then. Did someone say they were already trying moxa? Sorry can't remember who it was but how are you getting on?

As for nursing bras, thourghly recomend the Bravado ones, still wearing mine as am still feeding DD, have to say I do get mine free as I sell them on my website! If anyone wants one and has been measured elsewhere I am happy to knock 10% off my website price and it's always free p&p, sorry for the blatant spam there!

Moosma I know what you mean about money, it's horrible when things are like that and you feel like all you are doing is constant financial mathmatics, I went self employed after having DD and really missed my very good NHS wage, we found ithard to cut down on spending as we were not used to having to budget. I didn't know you did web design, any experience in e commerce? If so will be looking for a web designer about half way through next year, sales permitting.

snugglebumnappies · 09/01/2007 10:23

Oops, can you tell I was posting whilst feeding a wriggly 21 month old??!!

meant thinnk and hear, not here (dread to think what my English teacher mum would say!!)

suzi2 · 09/01/2007 10:56

snugglebum... do bravado ones cover a 36J or thereabouts yet? I'm sure I tried one before and although comfy and ideal for night etc I think it was still a bit small... but I can't for the life of me remember what size I had ordered!

suzi2 · 09/01/2007 10:59

actually just looked at your website snugglebum... the large ++ might do me well. You've got some fab stuff on there... I will no doubt be in touch shortly!

CurrantBun · 09/01/2007 12:27

Re. breastfeeding and bras, I'm tempted to order the breastfeeding version of the Carriwell maternity bras I've got. They're crop top style so fit a range of sizes, which I've found more practical than worrying about whether I'm wearing the right size and having to fork out again if my size changes. I can still wear my pre-pregnancy underwired bras but they get uncomfortable if I have them on for two long as they dig into my ribcage now that my uterus is so high up. The Carriwell bras are available on a few sites but I got mine from From Here to Maternity - very quick delivery and efficient service, also cheaper price than elsewhere.

I've read loads of good reviews about Lansinoh breast pads - they do appear to be the 'Rolls Royce' version! It's just quite hard to find them - two branches of Mothercare I've tried didn't have any and John Lewis only had them in boxes of about 80 for £6.95. Given that a) I'm not sure whether I'm going to definitely breastfeed and b) if I do, for how long - I'm not keen on buying such a vast quantity. You can get them online in smaller quantities but as someone else pointed out, by the time you've added postage etc. you may as well have bought the bigger box.

I must be alone in not being particularly emotional. DH was remarking last night that I haven't been hormonal and weepy at all, and still have plenty of energy and am still sleeping well. Not sure how I've managed it but seem to have had a lucky escape from most of the negative aspects of pregnancy. I did cry at the first episode of the new series of ER though - mainly through the sheer horror of Abby's Caesarian and haemorrhage, imagining myself in the same position. But obviously there were blood and gore aplenty as it was ER and needed to be dramatic!

Think I'm pretty well organised now - we have all the main things we need: pushchair, carrycot, car seat, cot and bedding, bottles, bottle steriliser, changing mat, baby bath, a few packs of nappies and baby wipes, cotton wool, baby clothes in a variety of sizes (unopened) and even a few soft toys! Haven't started on my hospital bag though - will do that shortly.

CurrantBun · 09/01/2007 12:28

Yikes - "two long" = too long! Do hate spelling/grammatical errors!

andyrobo237 · 09/01/2007 13:00

Glad to hear everyone is getting sorted - we got the stuff out of the loft at the weekend so now the washing machine is on every night - done the car seat cover, moses basket covers and sheets - reckoned I would need those first!

Got bedding and the pram footmuff to do next - as well as sort out the babies room!

I have 10 days left in work - off on Thursday for the day so DH and I will put the cot together and get that in the right place (and then dump everything off the floor in it!

I ended up with three bags of toys for varying ages upto 2 years - sorted them out and threw some ina bag for the charity shop - the rest are stored under our bed and in two plastic boxes to go uder the cot!

Just about managing on the insulin injections - evening meal is fine, it is the breakfast one taht is now rising! I now have to do two injections at breakfast and two at lunch as I need more than the quantity of insulin you can give in one dose - great!

Having a growth scan on monday evening next week - hope they will then decide what we are doing - I am fed up on the pg now!!! (but not 34 weeks yet - want to get to 37 weeks before he arrives - please!!!)

MoosMa · 09/01/2007 13:58

sbn, I don't do web design, dh fixes computers and offered my basic services to update someone's site but I can't seem to get it to work, ah well. We both had half decent NHS wages too and are now surviving on dh's self employed "wage" from fixing people's computers and making furniture (sorry for the blatant plug!). I dabble in websites (I made ours - can you tell?) but I'm really not very good yet!

Got to go now, must drop DD at mum's and go for growth scan - eek!

qsack · 09/01/2007 14:09

Snugglebumnappies, i think my sister had to get her results sent from london to birmingham too, said it took 4-5 days for results. i didn't complain of any symptons but i think he just ticked a whole bunch of boxes and got lots of things tested, don't know why. i've only ever really complained about being exhausted!!! and my bad veins but no-one really seems interested in those!

qsack · 09/01/2007 14:34

snugglebum what's your website address?

suzi2 · 09/01/2007 14:47

MoosMa - I dabble (or used to at work anyway) in websites... if i can help at all let me know. Depends what language you're coding in...

Currantbun - first time I've seen those carriwell ones. They look very nice... but don't cover my size (mind you most things don't!). Was just talking to my friend about breastpads and she uses both the lansinoh and TT ones... and swears they are identical too. TT are definately cheaper though - often come up half price at tesco.

ChaCha · 09/01/2007 15:28

Hello ladies,

Tried to catch up but only managed a few posts, good luck to those with scans and appts - will try to keep up with all the news when DS goes to bed.

Just wanted some reassurance really, I'm feeling pretty awful, terribly uncomfortable, not sleeping well and my stomach hardens constantly inbetween sporadic movement usually directed at ribs! I don't remember this with DS but DH says it was the same just that being without kids at the time meant i had much more rest i.e. not such a PITA this time! Very emotional and really feel crap, dizzy, no appetite or too much appetite...oh the list goes on....I'm 34 weeks 22.02.06 - EDD) just wanted to moan really and what better place than the an-thread...anyone else?

Also finding bathing/carrying/sittingon floor with DS very hard!

p.s. someone mentioned lansinoh pads - i used them last year and they were pretty good. Bottle warmer was the biggest waste of time and money btw - i wouldn't recommend one.

Alocin · 09/01/2007 15:31

Ladies

Growth scans - what can be the possible outcomes of these? I was 3 weeks big for dates last time and MW said if still big at next appt (tomorrow) she would send me for a growth scan. Presumably they do lots of measurements of lo and how much fluid around him etc? What would be a good outcome, and what would be bad? Ie huge baby not much fluid, or small baby lots of fluid? What else might they be looking for?

Input appreciated!

CurrantBun · 09/01/2007 16:53

No idea Alocin, but would be keen to find out too. I measured slightly small at last appointment compared with all my other measurements which have gone exactly according to week - i.e. was 28cm at 28 weeks etc. I was 30cm at 31+4 which is still well within the acceptable range for my dates and midwife was happy, but did cross my mind that I might be sent for growth scan if the same happens at my next appointment.

Suzi, the Carriwell bras are great, really comfy. Only downside is that you can't wear any low-necked tops as they show, although I tend to leave mine showing under a V-neck as you can't tell that it's a bra and not a little top. Because there are no clasps or anything nothing digs in and bras are really lovely to wear all day. Can be used as a low-impact sports bra afterwards too!

ChaCha, sorry to hear you're feeling a bit crap. I'm getting a little uncomfortable at times too, and keep having to remind myself that it's perfectly understandable at nearly 34 weeks' pregnant! Am trying to just go with it rather than fight it as it's easier to handle that way. Overall though my pregnancy has been really good to date - just hope it remains so for the final few weeks.

MoosMa · 09/01/2007 17:38

Had the growth scan this afternoon, they measured the abdominal circ, head circ and femur length, all are pretty much bang on average - yippee! They also measured the amount of fluid around it which was average too, and it's still a girl which is a relief!

Ultrasonographer told me to shoot my mw as she says she should have used a tape measure rather than just doing it by feel.

Now that I know she's ok in there she's welcome to arrive any time (once we've painted the room and done the floor and got a wardrobe etc etc...)

peachygirl · 09/01/2007 18:04

Our car seat arrived today.. hooray. This means that if baby arrives now at least we can get home!!
I'm feeling a bit rough today too , as if I'm verging on poorly, very fuzzy of head etc. I took paracetamols this morning and have managed to cope for most of the day.
My headteacher came over and asked me if I was OK, which she does most days and I mentioned how I was feeling a bit rough and she said take some time off and how well I had done with it all and how she was very proud of me . Now as much as I would love a day off I know that she can make me start my maternity leave early so am keen to avoid this.
Stupid question regarding washing, should I also wash the bedding?? I've done a fair few clothing items and I'm very tempted to iron them (most unlike me)

OP posts:
suzi2 · 09/01/2007 19:40

Alocin - I measured 3 wks ahead at 31wks and at my appointment yesterday I was measuring 4.5 wks ahead. MW said that wasn't a problem and that the 'medical' lot really wouldn't care less about that kind of size at this stage. She did say though that since I've pretty much always measured 2cm over, it's only really like measuring 2.5 cm over if that makes sense. She had a feel and said baby was a normal size and the extra size was fluid. But never suggested it was too much to worry. So strange for me as at this stage with DS I was measuring 33wks rather than 39wks... but I'm oddly more mobile this time! So I wouldn't worry too much if the mw isn't. If that makes sense lol.

Peachy - I'll be washing everything including bedding. I'll also probably iron it like I did with DS purely because it'll be the last time I iron her stuff! Mind you, my MIL insists on ironing DSs clothes now to soften them for his eczema.
