emma I wouldn't bother buying 'proper' clothes like shirts and shorts, they are very fiddly on a small baby and often don't look comfortable. Sleep suits and popper up vests are more practical in my experience. DS lived in the until he was a least 3-4 months.

iamdivergent · 19/03/2016 10:18

I can't wait til the nicer weather is here, then I'll get everything washed and hung out to dry 😍 bought some of the Summer swaddles from eBay - £15 cheaper than Boots for the 3 pack! He may hate being swaddled but we'll give it a go. Need to get some socks and hats - have a similar amount of newborn/up to 1mth/up to 3mth stuff so fingers crossed we'll be sorted whatever size he comes out, unless he is very early! My gran and aunt both knit so he will have a load of knitted cardigans and blankets too I'm sure.

Potkettleblack2 · 19/03/2016 10:53

Someone asked a few days ago about the next sale-I've just been in and there's a 3 days sale starting today.

clarish84 · 19/03/2016 11:30

Thanx everyone I am trying to to worry x gonna be a very long 4 week to see how he's doing x

Belleboo23 · 19/03/2016 12:03

I did a pre order from next sale the other day didn't find it that great got a pack of 3 sleepsuits for £8 and some furry pram booties cheap think they were £4 oh and a jumper for my chihuahua!! 😂

iamdivergent · 19/03/2016 12:06

I find the clearance section outwith sale time is better tbh.

Belleboo23 · 19/03/2016 12:07

Clarish I'm sure all will be fine just like after they are born all babies grow at different rates

Belleboo23 · 19/03/2016 12:45

Divergent I'll resist having another look haha!! I already owe them enough

JellyBaby26 · 19/03/2016 17:34

Clarish I hope everything's ok for you sure it will be .

Was so dissapointEd with the next sale for my dd all the sizes were for small babies. Didn't buy anything for this baby as I have been given so many hand me downs.

Worst thing happened to me today. We were at a wildlife park that had a running timer and I thought I'd join in. Firstly I nearly fell over but secondly I wet myself so badly it went through to me jeans . Let this be a reminder to do your pelvic floor exercises! !! 10 months pp at mine is still shot. Thank heavens I'm having an ELCS this time!!

mrsmugoo · 19/03/2016 18:25

Jellybaby it's not labour that ruins your pelvic floor it's pregnancy :( I had an ELCS first time and I'm suffering with the worst fluey virus ever - I keep having mini cough and sneeze related accidents :(

I'm kegaling for England!!!

Eastend2015 · 19/03/2016 18:56

I've been using the squeezey app this week which helps for a bit a kegel motivation! That is apparently an NHS app and suggests you do 3 sets a day and things are definitely improving!

MindfulBear · 19/03/2016 22:13

emma t shirts on new borns are a real pain in the bum. We had a late May baby last time and he lived in short sleeve vests (with poppers) and sleep suits. When it was warm (like 28 degrees) we took the sleep suit off. When it got even hotter (>30) he just wore a nappy.

The best vests are the ones that don't go over their heads...... V hard to come by in the uk. The next best are the ones with the huge envelope neckline. This means you can take it on / off over their [absolutely massive & out of proportion] head easily AND if you have a pooh tsunami you can actually take it off downwards - ie over their bum to avoid getting pooh on their heads Grin

We only moved into t shirts and trousers when DS was about 4mo. Sleep suits were so much easier tho!!

MindfulBear · 19/03/2016 22:18

Ooh. eastend where will I find this kegal app? I really need to do my exercises. Have been totally ignoring them.

Last time I was so diligent. Knew how many weeks pg I was at all times, my edd was etched in my mind and did all the kegals and other stuff without fail..... This time round... Quite q different story!! Are any 2nd/3rd etc timers finding the same thing?!

To be fair this pg is different too. I can feel this one moving all the time and have done for ages. Never felt DS move except when there was a huge explosion around 34 weeks and he jumped before I heard the news.

MindfulBear · 19/03/2016 22:21

Btw.... Evening!
I'm 27 weeks pregnant now and need to move into maternity clothing.... Me and my sil and other family members have pooled mat clothes over the last few years but I'm struggling with bottoms..... Help!!

I need at least one pair of jeans - where should I look? (All the jeans in the box won't stay up and I have them in size 12 to 18!!!!)

I have a city job and need to look professional and smart at least 4 days a week. I've bought some seraphine and Tiffany rose dresses/skirts off eBay. They are lovely but all the dresses have a ribbon so are not really suitable for work. I could try a belt instead - any tips on finding a maternity belt?! The skirts are so large they won't even stay up!!! Will have to sell those on.

I could also do with a pencil skirt and some smart tailored trousers - where is best to get these from?

What about a smart tailored jacket to sling over the top of the dress or match with trousers....?! I can no longer do my jackets up and the look is much better if I can.

And what about yoga pants and gym pants?

And is online shopping going to work? Or are there real shops out there with stock to try on?!

I lost 3 stone last year and I thought I was a 14 pre pregnancy but given how huge the clothes in the box seem on me and how huge the clothes I've bought on eBay are..... Perhaps I'm smaller than I thought! A nice problem to have but slightly frustrating

Your help would be appreciated. (I hate real life shopping and find online shopping a drag when I have to return stuff, hence haven't done much yet...)

Billi77 · 20/03/2016 00:36

Thank you mindful!

JellyBaby26 · 20/03/2016 06:58

Labour can't help the wee thing surely. My first run after she was born was interesting to say the least!
I had a slight prolapse last time but not sure if that would make things worse?!

Can you talk to me about hiccups again. ...I'm getting paranoid as they have just begun here. How many times a day are your babies getting them? & how spaces put are they, a couple of seconds or slower?

I keep writing posts that never actually post which is so annoying. Don't know why there is no app on android!

nehagarg · 20/03/2016 07:21

Jellybaby If I am not running around, I notice him hiccuping 2-3 times a day. Last about 10 min each time, spaced about a couple of seconds apart. Must be annoying to hiccup all that much.

Mindful - what are the vests that don't go over their heads?

Belleboo23 · 20/03/2016 09:01

My pelvic floor went back to normal quite quickly after both previous births but a prolapse would definitely make it worse jelly. I'm finding if I sneeze more than once on the last one there's a bit of a leak Blush definitely need to do pelvic floor exercises have neglected doing them so far.

Ladies who are bf primark do nightshirts that button part way down the front for £4.50 I had them last time and they are perfect for night feeds and less than half the price of proper nursing ones!

mrsmugoo · 20/03/2016 09:16

I thought I had totally got away with it with regards to pelvic floor but just recently I've really noticed a lot of of "weight" and pressure and I need to "suck it up" but this virus I've got has been making cough and sneeze a lot and there have definitely been some oops moments :-/

strawberrypenguin · 20/03/2016 09:46

mindful I'd recommend Jojo for a nice pair of over bump jeans I find theirs really comfortable and true to size. I've also been going to work on a pair of black trousers for there - they are not denim although were with the jeans although I wouldn't say they are tailored either - luckily I can get away with it!

jelly I don't always notice hiccups so I'm sure I must miss some but when I do they are a couple of seconds apart and go on for a good few minutes

Mrspopper · 20/03/2016 10:38

I haven't noticed hiccups and I fifty with my first. However she rarely had hiccups as a baby so guess it's all individual.

Mrspopper · 20/03/2016 10:38
  • didn't not fifty!
MindfulBear · 20/03/2016 11:48

Thx strawberrry

gnomette the vests that don't go over their heads are either kimono style or snap button through - not found them in the the uk but inherited some from France last time.... Don't think we still have them :(
So much easier!!!

Morning!
Thought you guys might like this link
sarahockwell-smith.com/sarah-recommends/

Sarah ockwell smith is a fabulous parenting blog who helps with gentle sleep methods and managing parents expectations.

I just found her links (at link above) to products she recommends. Fabulous suggestions.

The one about night lights and red vs blue / white light is really interesting and makes loads of sense!!!

Think I'm going to get some of these for my bedroom for when baby arrives. We had white night lights when DS was born and I'm sure they were not helpful. Might also get some of the battery candles she recommends for DS bath time as he takes ages to wind down for sleep and I wonder if it is the bright lights before bed..... (He will be 4yo when baby arrives)
