strawberry - I'm totally feeling like a beached whale too! OH often has to help shove me off the sofa!

1Sunnydays · 28/02/2016 22:47

Beached whale sums it up, especially trying to get out of bed in the night! Pleased to hear it isn't just me already feeling that way.

GrubbyWindows · 29/02/2016 00:21

divergent so sorry to hear your news.

(Totally beached whale here- picking up toys all over the floor at the end of the day is getting unfeasible! Those with several DC already, how do you do the pick up for the next three months???)

BiffleRoo · 29/02/2016 07:27

Think DH is in for a shock when he gets home next week. After 10 weeks away my bump has gone from small to massive!

jbiscuits · 29/02/2016 07:44

So sorry to hear your news divergent

Complete beached whale here too. I got stuck in the bath the other day! Fortunately DH hadn't quite left for work so was able to rescue me.

Does anyone else have a wriggler rather than a kicker? I don't seem to feel many actual kicks, but when baby starts wriggling, it makes me feel seasick he's so fidgety!

iamdivergent · 29/02/2016 08:07

Beached whale here too. I was up three times for the loo last night, coupled with the insomnia - i can safely say I'm exhausted this morning. I was supposed to be going back to work today but I'm going to self certify for this week, I'm an emotional wreck. Hopefully work won't be too annoyed but I'm not really in a fit state to be at work.

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/02/2016 08:22

Jbiscuits my baby wriggles pretty much all day, often making my sickness worse, then keeps me awake kicking me most of the night no matter what position I lie in. Other than a few hours quiet in the afternoon not actually sure baby gets much sleep. Though guessing they are just a fidget in their sleep too. Baby is sooo active!

bikingintherain · 29/02/2016 09:40

I've got a wriggler too. The baby spends so much time dancing! Tmi here, but I randomly get diarrhea and I swear it's because the baby is jumping up and down on my intestines/head butting my stomach!

cautiousoptimist1 · 29/02/2016 09:43

Sorry to hear your news divergent, it must be a difficult time. I hope you have lots of support x

Mrspopper · 29/02/2016 10:32

Biking I was up in the night with diarrhea (sp?) and bad back ache. I haven't gone in today as didn't sleep. Ugh.

MollieRos · 29/02/2016 13:14

jbiscuits I definitely have a wriggler... though when he's not wriggling he does seem to be kicking me instead! Not quite sure when he finds time for sleeping Smile It is quite a queasy feeling when he's having a proper wriggle around.

I've just got back from the hospital, I had nearly constant braxton hicks last night so rang the midwife this morning. Apparently I have much more frequent BH than is average, but that's normal for me- they had me hooked up to the monitors, did an internal exam and took a swab to check I'm not going into early labour. I felt so bad for wasting their time, but the midwife was absolutely lovely and really reassuring. She really put my mind at ease. She was laughing because the whole time I was on the monitor the baby was booting the probes around, like he was protesting about them being strapped on my bump Grin I've been sent home to rest as apparently exertion can make them worse, so I feel a bit bad for skiving off work, but trying to make the most of an afternoon in my pyjamas!

laughingGnomette · 29/02/2016 13:54

Glad to hear everything's ok Mollie and you were absolutely not wasting their time! :)

jellybelly85 · 29/02/2016 13:56

I'm super super tired today. DP had a few to drink last night, came home late and I kept being woken up by him and his slightly drunken pottering around the house noises. He's thoroughly hungover today, so there is a bit of karma. Needless to say I'm knackered and working from home (semi-productively). But all I can think about right now is cake. I just want to eat a whole cake. That would be a bad idea... right? It's not going to help this beached whale look...

bikingintherain · 29/02/2016 16:47

Ooooh cake, sounds good jelly I might join you!

And don't worrying about wasting time molly. They obviously had some concerns or they wouldn't have done so many checks. I'm pleased it's all turned out fine. And even if they had just brought you in and put you on the monitor for a while, it still wouldn't be a waste of time. That's why they tell you to call if you are concerned at all.

clarish84 · 29/02/2016 17:10

Well first day back at work since I made my pgp worse and it has been hell I'm 8n so much pain u thought I was feeling a bit better but I can hardly walk now . I feel like such a whimp. So decided today that I'm gonna start my mat leave at 34 week well 4 week hol and then mat leave I just think it's gonna kill me make it that far . Feeling a bit soft tho as a girl due same time as me is finishing later then that and that's all anyone said to me today . I just wanted to shout she's on baby 1 and younger then me I'm in my 30s on baby 5 and having twins last time I think is a lot to blame . I nearly stated to cry at work which is so not like me bad day . Sorry for th rant

cautiousoptimist1 · 29/02/2016 17:22

Mollie glad to hear that everything is ok, what a worry. Don't worry about wasting their time or being off work - you and your baby are the most important things to focus on at the moment and it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks (even though I agree with biking that they were obviously concerned and you did the right thing.).

jelly I don't think anyone here will be putting you off that cake I'm afraid!

clarish sorry you've had a bad day, just ignore them. You have more chance of actually getting some rest before your little one arrives. We are all different and if she's on baby 1 then she's probably just thinking about having all the time with the baby and you have your other DC to consider too. In my opinion one of the horrible things about pregnancy is how everyone seems to think it's ok to voice their opinions on your choices.

I have a trivial question as we are all June ladies. UK Father's Day will be 19th June, will anyone be buying presents for their DPs from new babies?

emma85x · 29/02/2016 17:40

Wow. cautiousoptimist you are planning ahead! Is Father's Day always on June 17th? My due date is June 16th, hope they don't clash! If baby is here by then, then yes definitely! Would love to do something for DH but not if I'm still waiting then.

I'm very jealous of all of you with lots of movement, still only a fee kicks every evening when lying down here. MW appointment on Wednesday, so I'll talk to her about it. Hopefully it's just the anterior placenta. Have also been very organised and booked a dentist appointment for next week. I HATE the dentist!! But gums are much more sensitive now and I'm definitely going to need work on at least one tooth 😭

strawberrypenguin · 29/02/2016 17:46

Glad everything is ok mollie
Sorry to hear your feeling so horrible clarish try and ignore the idiots at your work and just do what's right for you.

Went buggy shopping today and managed to find one that actually fits in my rediculously tiny car boot so I'm very pleased (and it cost less than I thought we'd have to spend to do it!) The lady in mothercare was really helpful.

MollieRos · 29/02/2016 17:52

jelly I've pretty much eaten my bodyweight in flapjack over the last couple of weeks... I reckon go for it with the cake Grin

Cautious trivial but a good point! We should definitely have a baby by then, so perhaps I'll be super organised before then and buy a card and some nice beer for DH (I know that's what he'll appreciate the most! Grin) now- not sure I'll be feeling that organised with a tiny baby! I'm sure it won't even occur to him, but I think it'll be nice to mark his first fathers day.

clarish that sounds really tough, don't worry what other people are saying or what the other girl is doing. By your 5th baby you're surely a good judge of what you're able to manage!

Thank you for well wishes, it did worry me when they were doing all the checks- I'd just expected them to say to just keep an eye on it when I rang, not to come in. But really good that they were so thorough.

Spock27 · 29/02/2016 18:05

clarish hope you're back home now and starting to feel better, baths help me! People can be so rude, just ignore them though.

jelly every time anyone even mentions cake I feel like I need some, though your name puts me in mind for some jelly...

Here's what I spent my Saturday putting together, new light fitting for the nursery and the teddy from when i was born Smile

cautiousoptimist1 · 29/02/2016 18:13

emma oh yes I'm a planner!! I think it's always the 3rd Sunday in June.

mollie good idea with beer, I was thinking chocolate but beer is a much better suggestion! It's my DHs birthday in July so could be saved if we don't have a baby by then!

Love the light fitting spock!

iamdivergent · 29/02/2016 18:30

Re fathers day - I'm hoping to have had baby by then but it is my due date - what a lovely present it would be to give birth on father's day! As this is dc3 I will have presents already from my dds for DH but might pick up a little something from this little one incase he does decide to make an appearance beforehand.

iamdivergent · 29/02/2016 18:31

I've been looking at getting a bean bag chair for baby rather than a bouncy seat and found a lovely comforter too, a Steiff one - my dds both still have their special comforters Smile

Spock27 · 29/02/2016 18:42

Forgot to add, I'm going to have something to give OH for father's day, I'll be 12 days overdue at that point so hopefully baby will have shown up by then! OH is doing the men's health 10k that day, I'm going I can arrange a shout out by the mc for the new daddy :)

Eastend2015 · 29/02/2016 19:01

Spock that's so cute!

24 weeks today, hooray! Bubs is viable!

So tired tonight. I'm putting in longer days in my new job, but really enjoying it. Everyone seems so much more cheerful there than in my last place which makes it so much nicer. DH is really pulling his weight at home too which really helps!

Clarish I have only had occasional bouts of SPD but can totally empathise- if it was worse I'd definitely make different choices about mat leave. It's really easy in my job to work from home or work flexibly so just playing it by ear.

Work also have a maternity buddy scheme which I've signed up for as well as a new mum's lounge where you can go and use discreet booths to express if you need to. They are really well set up.

Currently trying to sort out my mat1b form st the moment which is a big of a headache as my GP wants to actually see me before he'll issue it and I can't see him until after my 25 week cut off but luckily HR have just said just to get it in as so as I can. I feel bad spending lots of time sorting out maternity stuff in my first week but it can't be helped!

Emma do you have a maternity exemption card? At least then the dentist will be free if not pleasant!
